If I could give 0 stars, I would. The steak/hamburger meat you sell is always dark in color and smells/tastes rancid. It always ruins my entire dinner. How dare you do this to paying customers who expect good quality. Not to mention how you sell moldy bread/rolls. From now on I will only be going to Shop Rite since you’re no competition for them.

Shelves in the grocery isles are like Swiss cheese. Sale items were out of stock. Check out was quick. Associates were very nice.

This was my first visit to this chain. The sign says this is this stores Grand Reopening. The store is clean and well lit, the aisle are of average width. Overall a clean, well-stocked store with a good variety of products. I was most impressed with their produce section. Everything was fresh and looked will maintained, again with a good variety of options. The two negative things I noted were a strong smell of ammonia down the first aisle after entering the store, I assume this was a cleaning agent they used but it wasnt pleasant not did it give me sense of clean. The other issue was the entry and exit. Easy to find from the outside but more difficult from the inside, better signage needed. The areas were also a bit tight where exiting shoppers were crossing paths with other shoppers who were getting carts. Oh, and the parking lot is tight and somewhat congested. Overall a good experience. I will definitely be back.

Stop & Shop in Hartford on Newfield Avenue hes very horrible Ive had three bad experiences with people that work there one in the deli section one at checkout and trying to ask where something was everybody gave me a bad attitude I wish I didnt have to give them this one star I would have gave them none I will never ever go back to the shop right and buy anything. Very unhappy

Huge footprint, but selection not commensurate. Really hard to find any healthful breakfast cereal.

Always clean. Been a bit confusing lately as they moved everything in the store so it makes it a bit difficult to maneuver until I get the floor plan memorized again.

I dont hate S&S. I just want to know what the aisle robots prime directive is. Did he come here in peace? Is he capable of harming human beings? Who sent him?

You would think that in this day and age where discrimination and bias is greatly frowned upon they would be more conscious about teaching their staff to stop “monitoring” people of color when they’re scanning their items at self checkouts. I literally just had the most downgrading experience in this store. A white lady was scanning her items and the clerk was nonchalant speaking to his coworker. The minute my husband and I approached the self checkout he moved DIRECTLY behind us to check us scanning our items. Disgusted!I have a full time job and I have no reason to steal. How about taking a look at what Starbucks is doing and train your staff to stop being biased and thinking people of color are “suspect” in steal.The clerk went right back to talking with his coworker as soon as we were done scanning all while the white lady kept scanning her items.

Customer service is excellent. A manager took a lot of time helping me find a sauce. Ended up they didnt carry it but he tried.

I’ve been at Stop & Shop Customer for over four decades s as did this Stop & Shop has to be one of, if not the worst, I’ve ever visited.Each time I’ve been in the store it is the same- absolutely filthy, with clueless customer service.

I found this store by accident! I decided to stop in. The store is immaculate! Beautiful displays of many varieties of food, organic, etc. It also has wonderful prepared meals, excellent pizza, salads, etc. Plus all your other needs!

Attitude about above, and, how do I say, diversion, by the store manager about instructions about covid that she refused to share in writing. All I wanted was some half a half. Clean and great location

Today it was the third time I tried to shop at this branch. It was the third time I was treated with disrespect and disdain by dismissive employees at even the manager! But today was the last drop. The door at the entrance asks people to shop solo to help keeping social distance. In the store, there are arrows on the floor directing the traffic, lines at each cashier to help customers keep social distance. And then, all self-checkout of service/not in service and just one sixteen years old cashier checking out the more than 10 customers that were waiting in line. What’s the purpose of the shopping alone, following traffic sings, waiting behind the lines if we are going to be overcrowded trying to find the right place to wait in line????? The worse part of the story is that I waited in line for 15 (yes, fifteen) minutes according to my phone, so that when I finally made it to the check point it was over the hour to by beer. I asked the cashier to call the manager because I tried to buy 15 (fifteen) minutes earlier. An employee called Mary got involved, screaming across the store “She (meaning me) wants to by beer after 6!!!!” Then the manager came also screaming. The story continues. The point, at this point in time, was by far not the beer that I couldn’t buy but the 15 minutes wait defeating the purpose of all safety precautions. The manager could not see it. He just continued to scream focusing on the item, without realizing that the point was that he should have had more than just one untrained cashier checking out customers. Extremely poor management skills, no care for the customer at all. At the end, I had to ask him to move to the side so that I could leave, as he was blocking me. No, I do not recommend this store.

I can always find what I need, especially the fresh Guacamole dip

Great place to buy your Groceries

One of the nicest Stop & Shops around. I live three minutes from the Naugatuck location and will drive to Southbury (or Middlebury) rather than go to Naugatuck. Anyhow the Southbury location is very clean, meat and produce are good. Staff is friendly and checkout is always pretty fast despite how busy the store is.

Prices higher than ShopRite and no digital shopping and pick up.

Usually dont have any issues here. I am glad that they always seem to have to first aid supplies I need in stock at all times.

I shop here all the time because I live up the road. All the employees are very courteous. The prices are reasonable and a lot of times they have great deals with the Stop & Shop card. They also offer gas points so I typically get .20 to $0.50 off a gallon every time I go to the pump. The gas points are good for Stop & Shop gas stations as well as Shell, I believe.

Love stop and shop. Use their app for savings and its nice that its linked to your account. They have a great variety of organic choices. I always purchase their sushi for a quick lunch

I just stopped in to pick up a few things on my way home from Connecticut to New Jersey. This Stop and Shop seemed very clean, and it was easy to find what I needed to get. The self checkout register I used worked well and I think from my quick glance at the group of self checkout registers only one was out of service.

I typically do not write bad reviews. I am from out of town and this was my first visit to Stop & Shop in Southbury.I shopped this afternoon and my cashier was very sweet, I think her name was Mary. But Mary made a mistake, an easy fix but we needed the customer serivce manager to assit.However the Customer service manager, was incredibly rude. She was very rude to Mary. She was very unpleasent. After the transaction I realized there was another mistake. I went back into the store to have it corrected and the second mistake was done by the customer service manager.I had to ask for my receipt, I never got it and I just wanted to make sure I wasnt charged double, I gave $28 in cash and was also charged $28 on my debit. I didnt make a big fuss about it.The Customer Service manager laid into Mary about the receipt but the customer service manager was the one that finished my transaction. Anyway got the whole thing taken care of but I walked away and it made me think about being in those work sitations.Unfornately I did not get the Customer serivce managers name. I noticed she was with the company since 1987. She manages customer serivce, she understands well how customers should be treated but as a customer we also see how she treats her staff. That woman is creating a toxic work environment. No one deserves to be treated poorly, no matter the postion. Everyone should be spoken to with respect and she fails to do that as a manager.I mean while I was waiting for my refund, she spoke to, two others as if they were complete idiots. Over magazine boxes being in a carriage. Then she continued to down talk Mary to another employee.The whole thing was incredibly unprofessional. Hopefully HR can get involved with management training and communications between management and staff. Creating postive work enviroments for everyone. Happy staff equals happy guests.Mary was amazing and super sweet! I am sorry she had to be spoken to that way. Please let Mary know she is doing a great job and a customer said she was very kind and sweet.

This is my favorite supermarket. The produce is always fresh and the variety is abundant. The bakery department is large with the friendliest staff ever. The deli offers a great selection of products too. The store itself is quite large. You can find anything you need. Stop & Shop offers its own organic label products, which helps to reduce cost while trying to eat healthy.

Lots of fun shopping here. Always find interesting products like charcoal toothpaste or a life size toy bear.

I will no longer be shopping at the Stop & Shop store in Southbury because I will be shopping at the Stop & Shop store in Watertown. I live in the middle of both stores. The main reason for the change is because I find the shopping plaza parking area too congested. With that said I have to say I have enjoyed the Southbury store very much, especially the Pharmacy. The pharmacist have always been very helpful and friendly.

A unionized grocery store that isnt just a business, its a service to the community. They hire lots of people who might find it difficult to find work and they pay them decently with good raises.As if that wasnt enough, they also have the best selection of any local grocery store.When you shop here instead of elsewhere, youre contributing to the wellbeing of the community.

To avoid problems with customers, go early. There is always a percentage of ****holes. The employees in Southbury you have nothing to worry about. They are your friends. They provide 5 star service, especially in the bakery. There will always people who complain over a few dollars in reviews, but heres a good review. Their products are delicious, inexpensive, and life changing. Want to see the 5 stars in effect? Go tomorrow at a reasonable time, grab a bagel, ask the baker to cream cheese it for you, and grab a baguette for lunch. You wont be disappointed. Not to mention they pretty much pay for the gas you use to travel there if you get gas rewards.

Nothing new to say about a grocery store, this one has many new products each week which makes shopping interesting. The store is always clean and there is an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables! I shop late at night to avoid the crowds and i am still able to find help if needed. Of course Stop and Shop is more expensive than a Shoprite would be but to me the freshness of the produce outweighs it!

Quick trip in getting milk and veggies for the morning on our way home from vacation. Not our usual place but nice. Little pricey more than our local store. Maybe its the location. 80 miles from our house

Always a great stop

I returned to Connecticut in the early part of 2000. Stop & shop was the supermarket of choice and my family & I have shopped there since then. I was amazed that I recently shopped there after being asked by my wife to pick up a few items. She then gave me her card(credit) to purchase these items. As I checked out at a self service kiosk, I was told that they could not accept the card since my name was not on the card. I then explained that I had been shopping exclusively at stop & shop since moving to Connecticut. I asked for a manager who then spent a considerable amount of time looking @ the check...she then said that they could not accept the check. I explained that I had a Stop & Shop card. ‘Please check your data base & you will see both my & my wife’s & my activity. She said my name was not on the check. I explained that I had shown them my drivers license, & provided all the information that anyone could ask for. As I was prepared to call the police...she realized that the company who processes credit cards & checks had accepted the check.It is no longer a place that we shop in!

Good store on management

Im on the Paleo diet which requires me to eat special foods. They have a section that has a lot of variety of foods for me to choose from like goat yogurt and goat cheeses and different flours along with gluten-free products. Ive looked in other grocery stores and they dont offer there variety like Stop & Shop does.

PLEASE insist your customers wear masks. Was in this evening and there was a mother, father, and three youngsters - not one had a mask on!

Staff is friendly and professional. Variety of great items to choose from.

Pretty happy with their brands, pricing, gas points and variety and foods you dont find at smaller stores. They could use more cashiers. I prefer to wait in the longer line vs. self check out to support people working there vs. technology.

Ugh. The business plan here seems to be: Maximize profit by getting rid of any employee that is skilled (and therefore being paid a decent wage), stocking only what we were able to get at a discount recently, and convincing the customers to do as much of our work as possible.I loathe this store.

Everyone knows what kind of store Stop and Shop is...your average, runnof the mill, overpriced supermarket. The cashier, Liz, likes to go through peoples bags, without asking, when you check out in the self check out. This overzealous cashier thinks she’s a boss. It’s funny that she’s so keen to check my bags when farmer Bob is walking out with two cases of soda under his cart while she’s too busy making sure that I’ve paid for my chia seeds. This is the fourth time I’ve had my bags checked while on the self checkout. I think it’s safe to say I’m not going to go to this location anymore.

Dont be fooled..As for the store, Ive been thoroughly frustrated with their poor produce, lack of selection in dry goods, mediocre meat and inept customer service. Its taken me no less than 2 hrs total to get someone get my card registered for their digital coupon program -- which has been in effect since when? Nobody in customer service could figure out the problem was my info was initially entered incorrectly-- it took a post on corporates FB page to get resolution, and additional FOUR days. I will see if its actually operational sometime next week. Im very skeptical.Oooo! Be sure to take their survey, located at the bottom of your receipt. The survey will crash, lock your computer, and ask redundant questions 3x over...................Interesting reply from the company.Heres a thought: When you have a Contact us button on your app, maybe list phone numbers or email addresses to actually CONTACT YOU, instead of putting people back in the stupid loop of FAQs that dont even come close to addressing a persons problem. ;) That way, when theyre frustrated -- as I clearly am-- they can actually REACH YOU instead of resorting to Google reviews or a FBpage to get resolution.Apparently common sense is anything but with the software developers at S&S.

Love this store always have what I need

Im just disgusted with my last visit to stop and shop in southbury, back rooms smelling of foul oders (like dead animal)enough to make you want to Vomit & then I come across to green and black mold all over stop and shop brand cheddar cheese that has been labeled as aged cheddar. When I brought it to the front desk they showed no responsibility for that being on the shelf. Very disappointed & calling the health department to contact the store with a visit. Just outrageously dangerous to the consumers health.

It is a decent store and they have organic products but Shop Rite is very close to this store and is considerably cheaper. Also this plaza is terrible. There is only one way in and out and the traffic controls are no good. Also people that go here seem to be terrible drivers.

I didnt think it was possible but the checkout is now worse. They increased the self- checkout area but its still only staffed by one person who is no where in sight. Of course there isnt enough room in the bagging area for the grocerys if you have more than three bags... if you try and take a full bag out of the bagging area it wont let you and then triggers a employee assistance required.... sigh... just staff the normal checkouts with actual people please and more than just two. Ever walk into Caraluzzis in Newtown or Georgetown?.... Every one of their checkout lines is always open... super easy and quick.Southbury has a large population of people who could use a job.

Shoprite is a superior grocery. Not to mention Ive had in excess of $1,700 car body damage from careless shoppers. No problems at Shoprite.
