I bought their premium garden soil 2 years ago to fill new raised beds. HUGE mistake. As soon as my husband and I started shoveling it into wheelbarrows we shouldve realized it was all sand due to the weight of each shovelful. But we were in a hurry to get our beds done and in denial that anyone would sell us something so bad. (They really promoted it in the store as being great garden soil.) Even with organic fertilizer and amendments, our garden didnt do well. The next year we added more amendments but the plants still didnt produce well and looked stressed. This year the soil/sand is so compacted (with no walking on it and covering it with black plastic over the winter), its like cement. Were getting rid of it and starting over. What a huge amount of work and waste of money. It should be sold for sand boxes not gardens. I wish I had spent the money on bagged planter mix which is most likely what Ill do now, or make my own soil lasagna style IF I can find quality ingredients.

Wittkopf has always been mine and my families go to for soil, bark and even sand in the winter months. They are always so generous and knowledgeable! They make their own bark and it holds its color longer than the bagged stuff you get at Home Depot or Lowe’s and it’s way more appealing! If you have lawn or garden needs this is the place to go!

Riley at the front counter is awesome! Came in to get some material and helped me decide which would be best, definitely very informative and knows the products well. I will keep shopping here due to the great customer service!

I went to wittkopf to try to match a paver block. When I showed the block to the checker to try to match it, he asked if I had gone to the internet and that it might help. My confusion was driven by the fact I was standing in front of the worker in the actual store. I had to ask someone else and Cody W stepped in and helped solve our problem. Best material supplier I have ever known. Larry, Kristy and the staff in the office are kind, knowledgeable and extremely professional. There drivers are helpful, courteous and prompt. Plus they have the dude(Brad) and angry guy(Kurt,but he is extremely nice),2 of the best dump drivers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. You need a load dropped in a backyard with a minefield in-between,those guys will get it back there and wont even disturb the grass. Love this company. Hats off to you Mr and Mrs Wittkoph,you not only have a wonderful company,but you got a lifelong customer and friend in the bargain.

I ordered ten cubic yards of premium garden soil and paid the extra to have it delivered to my property (I live out in the country). The person on the phone was very helpful and friendly.The guy who delivered the product apparently doesnt realize who is working for who. He reprimanded me several times about numerous things. If you dont want him to reprimand you, do the following: 1) Make sure to tell the person you order from what your driveway is like (even if they dont ask for that info, which they didnt ask me). They send out a super truck that doesnt have a good turning radius which apparently I was supposed to know. Ive had semi trucks out to my house several times so I never thought it would be that difficult to get down our driveway; 2) Make sure to get behind his truck and help him know how much further he has to back up if he turning on your property (even if he doesnt ask you to), this will save you the pleasure of having him sarcastically thank you for spotting him; 3) NEVER EVER ask him to stop on a slight incline (that is apparently a cardinal sin in the truck driver world). Instead, have him drive far beyond where you would have dump the dirt AND THEN talk to him about your thoughts about where to unload; 4) Be near your phone and have good reception in the time they say he will be on the way out, he doesnt like it that people dont answer their phone when he calls.Overall, the soil is fine but having the name premium in it doesnt seem appropriate. Dont expect to get the same soil as you would out of a bag of garden soil you would pick up at Lowes, this stuff is somewhat hard and it feels like mostly sand. The Product itself would be rated a three in my opinion. The delivery service was terrible... If I ever buy from this company again, I will not have it delivered. I dont need people who are working for me to treat me like Im working for them. Maybe there are people who like paying $140 to have someone barking at you on your property on a Saturday morning, but Im not one of them.

Bought 11.7 tons of driveway gravel. Which was enough to do 12 ft by 120ft at 2 inches deep. The delivery guy arrived on time and unloaded gravel very even. I didnt even have to spread out any gravel. Looks great! Thank you!

We get a lot of our landscaping materials from them. The ladies in the office are always so nice when I call and helpful. And the truck drivers are so nice and friendly. All in all we really like doing work with this company.

They used to be the best in town. Now theyre not. They couldnt accommodate me even though I was ordering more than a week out, they charge more for their product, no more free delivery with a minimum yardage and the person I talked to was surly and abrupt. Congratulations, wittkopf, you made money and we lost a great local company. Too bad. Meanwhile theres other local companies, support them.

The dark fine bark was perfect. Great ordering process. They did a great job getting the right size truck to deliver on a busy street and they took care not to damage my overhanging trees when they dumped the load. Will definitely be a repeat customer.

We always enjoy the variety price of the yard materials. Much better than going to home depot ir lowes. And Staff is really knowledgeable, helpful and nice.

I have to give these guys a shout out. I went to work for them temporarily this last summer. I knew it was seasonal so I continued to pursue something that was year round. I did end up finding something that was year around but I should have stuck it out with these guys because they were super cool to work for. Good equipment and good-hearted people. Anyways, everything happens for a reason and I am now in a position that hopefully will be my last one till it is time to tap out.

Wittkopf has delivered 9 tons of gravel and 15 yards of top soil this year and both times have deposited it where I asked, delivered on time on the day they agreed they would, and for the most part I have been happy with the products.The gravel is great, and uniform in size. The fines were included and so far has turned into a great driveway.The turf soil is a little too much sand in my opinion, and not quite enough decomposed organic matter, but my grass seems to be seeding alright in it regardless.Ill likely be going back for more soil, but I may do it in person rather than having it delivered, so that I can choose the soil I think will work best for my grass.

Anything else is just dirt

Please please please dont let these people bring you there premium garden soil!! Its far from premium I would say more like 70% sand. After they argued with me a told me I had know idea what I was talking about, she finally agreed to bring me some real dirt that I had asked for in the first place. Worst yet it was a owner I do believe that was willing to lie right to my face and then argue even when I told her prior to getting it that I didnt want dirt full of sand. Over all I would never again buy a thing from the one of the biggest scams around (premium garden soil) more like sand for the sand box SMH

I ordered 8 yards of “premium garden soil.” What was delivered was almost pure sand. It was not even as good as the stuff I had dug out of the garden to make room for the new stuff. I complained, and to their credit, they delivered 2 yards of “better stuff” to mix in. (Where was the “better stuff” when I ordered their “PREMIUM” STUFF!) While they put forth some effort to “make me happy,” I am nowhere near happy. I then had to get rid of most of the 8 yards of crap to make way for my next delivery FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE of actual soil. (I planted 18 seeds in their “premium garden soil”, and numerous other seeds in other dirt. EVERY one of the other seeds came up, only 1 of the 18 in the “premium garden soil” sprouted. Enough said!)

So I order 5 cubic yards back in may and they had a one week out booked time which ok thats understandable and they had the lowest rates so I waited. What was delivered was what I thought I ordered of 5 cubic yards, but this morning I had a delivery from Beauty Bark of 5 cubic yards because wittkopf had a 2 week booked window which I cant wait and Beauty Bark I called yesterday and they delivered today and no joke the order from beauty bark is literally double the siZe and had I have gotten the size I did today when I ordered from wittkopf I wouldnt of had to order again!
