Pathetic. No fringe, more like rough. Greens are FULL of crab grass, the worst greens I’ve ever played. Tee boxes are the same, horrible! There was not one good thing to say. Water ponds are mud and empty. Trash cans mostly full. If you see a good review I’d be skeptical.
Good management, just don’t trust the people that plays there I know who teed off that early morning of Tuesday 08/10 /21 employee told me who teed off early..so if you got my Cleveland wedge that belongs to my daughter please return it, forgot the wedge on the 5th green late evening I’m the last one on the course that evening a08/09/21...later at home found out I was missing my Cleveland’s 56 wedge, plan to wake up early Morning of 08/10/21 before 7am to retrieve my wedge on the 5th hole ..unluckily i fell asleep that morningdid not make it to deer lake ..called the clubhouse to inform the starter that i left my wedge ..I was told 2 groups already teed off at 7 am, trusting that somebody will pick my wedge and return it to the club house ..employee said it happens a lot at deer lake, a brand club never returns .. only non brand clubs returns .. advice!!! when You accidentally forget your club in any greens at deer lake, make sure to look for it ASAP especially if it’s a brand name .. if you want to see your club again, only non brand golf clubs returns, good brand name usually a keeper .. on an affordable membership.. you’ll always find dishonest golfers ...who ever took my wedge ..play it well ..
One of my favorite local courses ⛳... will definitely be back soon as Im recovered from surgery.
Not the worst course I’ve ever played on but still was not that great of a course. Sand bunkers we’re like concrete. The paved trails were so rough they would bounce you out of of the cart. The carts them self literally had no power. There were times I didn’t think they were going to make it up some hills. Finally, my daughter was riding with her boyfriend and not playing but they charged her $15 to ride in the cart. Now maybe this is standard at golf courses but I have never had to pay for someone riding with me at any of the public courses in Springfield. The people working in the clubhouse were very friendly and nice.
GreatLife has their way of ruining courses and that’s what has happen here. Also, bring your own cooler on the course for water as you see fit in the Summer. Never played a course that doesn’t have water stations for their guests, especially when it’s 100+ outside. As for the course, it’s terrible. Just pull your ball out of any “sand” traps as it’s merely mud pits.
Course in decent condition minus sand traps, reasonable price.
One of my favorite spots to play one of my favorite sports, with some of my favorite people while drinking my favorite beer!
Visited on June 28th and the course was a wreck. I wish we had been told about the conditions as I would have walked away. There were so many workers out that they should have closed the course for the day instead of accepting paying customers looking for a day of golfing. We waited on a tee box for 10 min waiting for them to check all of the sprinkler heads and turn the sprinklers off. It was like that all day. Several fairways were torn up, the bunkers were rocky sandless disasters and the paths were full of potholes and in some cases just gone. One of the greens was surrounded by giant mud pits. I will never visit this course again.
Horrible conditions, terrible staff, rushed by other golfers, and absolute worst bunkers. So poorly maintained it was unreal... I would rather drink acid than golf here again.
The course was horrible. The greens was like putting in my front yard.
Overpriced for the current shape this course is in. Much better courses around for the price.
Nice staff, fairways and traps are horrible right now but I do see sighn of work being done. Greens are in good shape.
Absolutely horrible condition. Someone should burn this place down and start over.
Beautiful golf course
I have been playing this course since 2003, and I have never seen it look this bad. Every bunker is unplayable, collars are full of crab grass and tee boxes are not even worth playing. I know new management has taken over, if they have seen the course and are OK with that, then I will not be back to this course at all.
Best shape in many years! Greens are smooth fast and full. Tee boxes are coming back strong.
Fun course has gotten a lot better..greens are great..you can challenge yourself on this course..alot of fun..
A great course to play and practice at a great price as well. The staff there are awesome and very friendly.
Greens are in perfect condition. Fairways are in good shape some Fairways need a little work. But the bunkers are Terrible need work !
I always have like the golf course
This year starting to look a lot better.it takes time
Good coarse
Its been a year in a half since I was able to get back out for a round of 18 holes. I Did pretty good
Nice driving range. They have some room and good distance markers.
Dont know whats going on. Fairways look like hay fields. Dead clumps of grass everywhere. Grass is too high off the fairway you lose your ball. Grass too high around greens and again rows and clumps of dead grass. Might not come back.
This course has seen its ups and downs through the years. I would say they are on the upside right now. I have been a member for a few years now and have seen some good improvement in the last year. The course is challenging. For the price, you cant go wrong. Unlimited golf and a 24 hour fitness center.
Nice layout. Tight shots. Challenging for all levels!
Deer Lake provides much enjoyment for my entire family.
Nice layout, greens are better but fairways needs work.
Affordable place to play. The greens were in pretty bad shape but fixable. Fairways and tee boxes were excellent. Also enjoyed the driving range.
Staff not friendly, fairways were concrete absolutely no grass. Way too over priced for the condition of the course.
This golf course isnt that long, or overly difficult, even playing from the back tees. It is just fun. A great place to relax and enjoy a nice day. Trust me, there are plenty of challenging holes, but after warming up on the expansive driving range, and a few practice putts, you should feel up for whatever each hole has to offer.
I would give it a 3.5 because the 2cd nine is closed to green aireation, but that is good way to maintain the greens. Its otherwise I excellent.
Great course to go out and play a round of golf without breaking the bank. Played the course many times, and never had any issues. The gentleman running the Pro Shop was friendly, and made sure to answer any and all questions. Would definitely play again.
Had a great time. Friendly people.
I used to play at Deer Lake years ago, and I joined again last March. It is looking really good right now. Very nice course. I got my second hole in one last Friday on #17. Now thats fun. The staff is always nice and I love playing it. There are a few challenging holes. Try it; youll like it. :-)
There is no lake but go and play some golf and maybe see a deer!
Had a grate time
Played Dear lake for the first time yesterday. I injoyed it so much we decided to continue the back 9. Course. Was nice for this time of year. Will probably join in the spring if not sooner. Also found the staff to be very helpfull. Other members seemed to be very happy, I find that to be an important test for any course.
Great course, great value on our ozarks deal, kind of a home course fir my 80+ yr old dad.
Just finished shooting an 83. Course is in OK shape its pretty dry right now, 3 greens have bad spots. Some holes are nice and green others are left to dry. Hi-way traffic by some holes make talking impossible. One or two challenging holes the rest are pretty plain. The place acts like its a high dollar club and cost more than other local clubs. ($24 to walk vs. $18). The people that run it are rude and for this I will never go back. I walked in with a reserved tee time from Golf18network. The guy tosses a key at me and say cart 63 turns and walks away. No hello, no are you here to play a round or are you the 11:04 tee time. Then the bathrooms by hole 11..... Broken door with the door knob on the sink. A squirrel that ran out between my legs because it had a stash in the bathroom. An inch of dust and dirt on everything including the squirrel poo. One knob on the sink and water hardly came out at all. Last but not least no paper towels and a stinking full trash can. My wife said that the womens bathroom was just as bad.
Good course. They need to work on their ground keeping.
The staff is great, the course is great. Keep up the good work. Best deal in town.
Lex, Terry, Dee, Ian & Sarah were there for the Annual golf party! Looked like fun, but unfortunately we were working lol.
The course if always in great shape. Ive been at Deer Lake for 13 years and wouldnt go anywhere else. Keep up the good work! Jim
HORRIBLE greens - all burned up. Where do the fairways end, and where does the rough begin? Some tee boxes not mowed for at least a week. Too bad because the layout is fun.
I go here often with my Fiance, we always have a good time. Attractive course, friendly staff.
You really need to do work on your greens. Some of the fairways were ok but the grass was too high in the roughs.
Good people and just a bad company. Better off playing at a mini golf course
Absolute trash course. For 40$, they should be arrested. Tee boxes awful, fairways awful, greens are awful. Do not waste a day like I did. Zero stars more like it.
Brand new member. Appreciate the cleanliness and security.
Love the gym. Everything you need without the crowds!
Better than I remembered.....glad to see it.
Fun course, greens are rough, carts available, green fees are steep.
Loved it first time on your course and will be back thank you
Fantastic service! Super friendly staff!!
Good course, friendly staff, but very slow greens.
Im very glad I waited to play this course a few times before buying a membership. The membership is a good deal, if your willing to stomach the course, people, and the odd twilight rules. Tonight, I brought 3 of my friends out there. We were just playing around and taking our time. Well, I guess this place makes their members turn in the carts at 8, with 30 minutes of daylight left. Weird.Anyway, we didnt realize this, and ended up causing the 2 Deer Lake members to get yelled at. Mind you, my friends had their cart parked almost right on top of the 18th green. The Deer Lake guy was so intent on taking down those two members, that he never said anything to us, or even noticed my friends parked on the green. Pretty strange stuff. They had been waiting on us to finish the hole for a while. When the two guys insisted on finishing the last hole, after being confronted, the attendant called the cops on them. We heard him say: We can do this one of two ways What? Really? Let them bloody finish! its 8:04 and theyre 2 shots away from finishing. The two guys insisted on finishing the last hole and the attendant called the cops, as he threatened he would. Wow, just wow.We took off with our carts around the corner to hole 9. My friends joked about playing hole 9, just to see if he was going to go off on us too. We didnt care in the least if he did. The attendant followed the two guys to the cart return, still fighting with them. One of them pointed us out, and rightfully so. The attendent looked right at us, and then turned his focus back to the two members. He proceeded to hound these poor guys all the way to their vehicles. At that point, they really just wanted to get away. SadWe finally turned in our cart well behind them at 820. Nothing was ever said to us. We left in peace. I heard one of them say: weve been members here for 4 years. The attendant said that meant nothing. This is a shi**y golf course, and the manager is a bit**. I played here 6 times and in that time, I learned the managers name is Linda, and I disagree, She is delightful and upbeat, lots of personality. I am curious if she is aware of the evening manners of her people.I am writing this review because in reflecting back, my friends and I were nothing short of obnoxious. If we had been playing with etiquette, we would have let those guys play threw. That would have fixed the whole thing. I didnt realize the intensity of the rules. We were just clowning around. We had no intention of causing someone to be humiliated and to have the cops called on them. I personally feel bad and would happily apologize to those guys. We talked with them a couple of times during the round. They were genuinely nice dudes, and we were jerks to them. I really do feel terrible.Needless to say, I was appalled and will never be coming back here again. The course is pretty plain. I played it a handful of times and it was quickly getting old. Add in the terrible and aggressive behavior of some of the staff, and Deer Lake isnt such a great deal anymore. Glad Im not a member, truly.Golfed here from 4pm to 8:20pmSaturday July 8th 2017We were fortunate in our round. We went largely unharrassed, and unmolested; but, then again, we are not members. Again, sorry dudes, we had no idea the severity of going a few minutes past 8, with 30 minutes of daylight left. That guy was a psycho. We saw him be rude to a few different people, it wasnt just you. For what it is worth. We feel terrible, and I speak for my 3 pals as well.
Easily best value for the money love the course love the gym
Ok golf course, there are better around the area
The service was awful. The man behind the desk was condescending, disrespectful, and completely rude. He talked to me like I was a child and an idiot.
There is no better bargain...love the course
Just the same every year. No improvements and expensive.
I played a round here a couple of weeks ago despite all of the negative reviews about the staff, the way I figure is that I am on the course 99% of the time that I am there so who cares about the staff. Expecting to basically be run out of the clubhouse I was prepared for the worst. I went in the proshop and was pleasantly greeted by a younger guy. I think his name was Duane but Im not sure on that. I told him that after reading the reviews I almost didnt come out. He told me thanks for giving them a try and that he appreciated me coming out. I went out to play and realized I had forgotten my putter. I went back in and asked if he had one I could rent, he told my that he would let me borrow his own personal putter. By the way it was a Nike Method, so nice I have reecently gone to buy one of my own. I was absolutely shocked that he would let a stranger borrow his own putter. I played the course and it was nice, a few greens had a spot here and there but with the summer we had I havent played a course lately that didnt have a spot or two. I thought for the money, it was a pretty good deal. Also they have alcohal while the other courses in Springfield do not. I would like to join this club but I am in Florida for about 4 months out of the year and he said that there was no way to have a membership the other 8 months. I will definately be returning because of the service.
Good customer service. The greens were in rough shape.
Terrible Security service, did not know how to handle a situation properly. Would not go back.
Much improved!
Course is looking good this year. Keep up the good work.
Poor customer service!
Not all the tvs work on the treadmills.
Fun course to play..
Fun coarse not to hard
Golf course was not in good condition
Fairways and greens are rough.
I played on a Friday at 1140 am. They were letting way too many people on the course. At times there were up to 4 groups waiting on a tee box. I left after 9 holes.
Good course and friendly staff
Great place to be.
The people working here are really rude and they stack tee times, the place is extremely over priced for the quality of the course.
Not bad
My home golf course
