It was my first time purchasing an electric guitar and I was armed with little knowledge. The staff was amazing to work with, especially Collin, who took his time to walk me through the various styles and equipment needed to get started. I felt confident in my decision after consulting with Collin and taking his advice.Unfortunately, at the time of checkout, I experienced an issue with my credit card company and could not walk away with the beloved Fender that I just picked out. Collin and the staff were all understanding of the situation and created a work around solution, which I know was an inconvenience to the business. I went to a different place about two weeks ago and told them what I wanted to play. The associate knew nothing. I left 20 minutes later after playing nothing. I went to Palen today and played three guitars within 20 minutes. Marla was well informed, courteous and helpful. I left with a new Taylor. Theyve made a lifetime customer.

Emmet is a fantastic salesman. Not pushy at all but keen to offer service. The best thing was I bought some headphones, realized the price was quite a bit more than a competitor and they no questions asked matched the price. I have zero musical background or expertise, however, When I entered Palen Music Center on a mission to procure a ukulele for my brother, sales person Mr. White instantly made me feel like I was a member of his band. Mr. White treated me like I was a colleague and while he answered all my questions he Made me feel like my condition was his condition.When I left the store with the gift ukulele in hand I also left knowing I had a lifeline that I could call to answer any additional questions regarding the use of my brother’s new ukulele. The time I spent with Mr. White was not only informative but also very entertaining and I look forward to learning if I have any other family members who might like a musical instrument for Christmas.

Having a place that is very welcoming and knowledgeable is very important for my daughter and myself. We stared using Palen when she started school band in 5th grade. The lessons they provided at the time helped to start her on a wonderful musical path. Since then we have purchased a keyboard, bass guitar, amp, and ukulele. Emmitt was very helpful! Initially they did not have a J-45 standard in stock but Emmitt kept me updated on used guitars as they came in. I tried out a couple used J-45s but I wasnt quite feeling them. Eventually a used J-15 came in and after playing it decided it was the one. Palen Music is without a doubt the friendliest, most welcoming music store I have ever visited. They personally greet everyone who walks in the door like theyre either family or a long lost friend. Doesnt matter if youre a professional musician, a lifelong client or a newbie like me, theyre stoked to see you. As a person who didnt start this journey until their mid-50s, Ive been ignored or outright insulted in music stores all over the nation. Apparently I give off some sort of started too late vibe. Yesterday, the fine folks at the Palen Music Center in Springfield Missouri totally made my day! While the skies were filled with thunderstorms and a constant downpour, Nate, Emmett and Marla at Palen came to my rescue. Having stopped by the store, I was in desperate need for a dry place to practice my sets for an upcoming gig. I couldn’t practice at the place I was staying, and it was out of the question to practice outdoors. Without hesitation the folks at Palen jumped in to help, providing me with the use of a practice room in the back. Although I had been to the store in the past, as an out-of-towner from Colorado I was virtually a stranger, but they treated me as a friend — or as it says on the back of their business card, “It’s About Family.” Their support of this wandering musician in need was so generous and unbelievable. The thing is, in most cases their thoughtfully stocked store, spotlessly clean with eye-appealing decor, and most importantly for us musicians the full array of instruments and accessories, would normally be enough to leave a positive remark about their store. But a store is only as good as its service, and its service is only as good as the people who work there. Nate, Emmett and Marla are those type of good people. Be sure to come by and say hi. We first walked into Palen Music Center in January 2020. Just to browse. I had been hearing about Taylor and Martin guitars and wanted to hear what was so special about each. Looking up music stores in Springfield MO on the internet, we saw that Palen Music was listed and rated fairly high with positive comments and the history was fascinating as I am a retired teacher just learning guitar. We were also planning a trip which would keep me away from my Yamaha APX500III. So was also wondering about a smaller travel-sized guitar. Having just 3 years of daily consistent practice under my belt at the time, Im so new and green to guitars, etc. From the time we stepped into the store, the warmth and friendliness and professionalism and trust we felt was beyond anything we had ever experienced. We were invited to go into the Taylor and Martin humidifier rooms and to touch, play, and enjoy. Nothing like that had ever happened before. A sales person guided us when I bought the Yamaha and when I bought my Del Rey Classic at age 16, I didnt know to try it before I bought it. After a while a young lady, Amber, came in and asked if she could answer any questions. She spent a good hour telling us about what to look for, sounds, tonewoods, etc., guestions we were asking. She played so we could listen for the differences in sound. After a while, she left so we could play and talk. We never felt any pressure and havent since. Everytime we walk in to the store for picks, strings, set-ups, or just to say hi, we are always met with smiles, first names, genuine warmth. I know if I leave my guitar, I can trust Danny, the guitar repair man, and his team to make sure my guitar is ready to go when I pick it up. The great joy is that I did finally buy a new Baby Taylor Koa guitar. I love the way it feels in my hands and the sound it makes. And when I play it, I am thankful for Nate and Emmett and Amber and those first Palen employees that welcomed us and made us feel that our questions were valid and not silly or ignorant and gave us time to enjoy their store and their instruments. We had such a great buying experience at Palen! My husband and I went in 3 different times and called them 5+ times trying to choose an acoustic guitar for our son for his birthday. We don’t know much about what makes a great guitar and needed a ton of guidance. The staff was very patient and Lennon spent a lot of time answering our questions and helping us choose the prefect thing. We went with a Taylor Academy 10e and it is awesome! Lowest price we found in town and by far the best customer service. Definitely go check them out for your instrument needs. Btw, they give lessons too! My sons school band instrument was in need of an important yet relatively quick repair; the horn was not playable without it.
