Put at the top of your must see in Stamford CT list. They are a great new furniture store that has a huge inventory of vintage items ranging from statues to wall signs and gargoyles to Yankee stadium seats (not for sale). Their vintage chandeliers are like a trip to the museum! Great fun even if your not a buyer or collector.

One of the great places of CT. So sorry they are retiring and closing. This has been my Disney for almost 50 years.

I was so impressed with their incredible selection of beautiful furniture and vintage finds! The space is loaded with so many options that you are sure to find what you need! Beyond that, the staff is incredibly kind and patient. Even with a busy store, we had multiple people stop to ask us if we need anything. A fantastic man named Phil sat with us to discuss the upholstery options for the couches we were looking at and walked all over the store to make sure we saw all of the seating options. We had a wonderful experience with affordable delivery to our home. Definitely worth a visit!

I love this place, a treasure around every corner. Mario the owner is also great, we had an issue with a new table and he was extremely helpful and attentive in working with us on a solution.

Ordered a new Hooker office chair through them at a competitive price - easy process. It was a gorgeous chair and exceptionally comfortable, but after a couple months it developed a nasty squeak. UHC was eager to work with me and the manufacturer to fix the problem immediately, no questions asked. The handholding and genuine concern from the owner on down was great. Service after the sale really counts. Thank you UHC for caring about my satisfaction long after the check cleared!

Sad to see it go! Lots of oriental rugs (still expensive) but if your looking to get something small there is still some good choices. I picked up a dish & an old dish rack...happy.

I have always loved the thrill searching. I must admit that 50 years ago you would have had to drag me out, everything from local estates or homes. They still have quite a bit maybe too much stuff from India. Its well worth a couple of hours to go down memory lane and dream of how grand homes were Once a pond a TIME.

Absolutely love this place. I am so bummed that they are closing after all this time. So sad to see it go.

What a wonderful place. I was there a few weeks ago and something caught my eye, didnt buy it then. I went back today and didnt see it a sales lady asked me if I needed help and I told her what I was looking for she said it was still there but was moved. Happily it is now hiring on my wall. This place is amazing and the people are great.

We have been here 3-4 times with the last two visits being sadly very disappointing. Its not the pricing or the variety of merchandise that has let us down, its the poor behavior of a few members of the staff. On the last visit, an employee yelled from no less than 75 feet away for my husband to wear his mask and embarrassed him as he was just removing a piece of lint/hair that had gotten into his eye while in the store, the mask was still on, he was just removing the lint. He was not within 20-30 feet of another soul (not to even mention, we have both had COVID). The visit before, we observed a female staff member treat another customer (we did not know them) unprofessionally. On our other visits, it was lovely, but these last two experiences made us shake our heads. We shared it with our friends of many years and were surprised to learn this is more normal than we had believed. Management, everyone wants a safe environment, but unprofessional borderline embarrassment of your customers should never be ok.

You have to see it to believe it! You never know what youre gonna find there, but for sure you will be amazed. Im just a working class stiff and I found many great deals over the years there. Things youll never find anywhere else at fantastic prices.The people are wonderful and treat me as well as the high end buyers (at least I hope the big spenders get treated as good as me). Yes, they cover the full gamut of unique, interesting things. From reproductions to rare antiques. My wife loved everything I ever got from there. I highly recommend going there, even just to look. They never pressure you to buy.

Has a great variety of anything you can imagine you might need for your house. If you cant find a door, hinges, doorknobs, or even furniture you have been looking for this is the place to look. A bit price but they are antiques and sometimes one of a kind.

If you are looking for unique, quality and great service it doesnt get any better than United House Wrecking. With my recent purchase the ladies in the furniture section worked together as a team and were most helpful. I was also impressed with the coordination in scheduling my delivery. Mario worked around my busy schedule and the delivery was right on time. The carriers were professional, friendly and careful. What was most impressive, I received a personal thank you note from Mario. I really felt my business was appreciated. I will definitely be back for my future purchases.

Really great experience shopping here. Jeanne was extremely helpful and always very responsive. I never felt pressured to buy anything. Our furniture arrived early and the delivery men were skilled and pleasant to work with. Would def buy from here again!

Fun place to walk around but most of the stuff is hilariously, and bizarrely overpriced. $3k for a Paula Deen (apparently she had a furniture line) sofa that I’m assuming that they bought at a wholesale auction?

This place is an adventure!! Could spend the whole day here looking at all the one of a kind salvage items. Have made multiple purchases here for my 1940s home. A little pricey but its worth it if you find what you are looking for. HUGE outdoor garden selection of ironwork, statues and fountains too.

If you want to furnish your home with standard, everyday kinds of items--go to the name stores. But if you want your home to be a unique expression of your creativity go to United House Wrecking. And even if you are not in the market for furnishings, go anyway just to see their collection. It is a destination worth visiting.

When a Currey & Co. chandelier arm cracked, I contacted Mario at United House Wrecking where I had purchased it two years prior. Mario immediately contacted Currey & Co. who stated the chandelier was no longer available and they would not replace it with another. Mario was very sympathetic and volunteered to have it repaired for me at his expense. Gail from North Star Lamp & Chandelier Restoration contacted me and made arrangements to fix the arm. I was very pleased with the repair and very grateful to Mario at United House Wrecking for handling the details and providing excellent service.

United house wrecking is closed permanently

UHW would have received a 5 if the prices were more reasonable: its a phenomenal place to browse - so huge its difficult to get your head around the size of it until youre there - but the prices on many items are so inexplicably high its as though they dont actually want to sell their inventory. Bummer, since they have so much great stuff.

Very eclectic collection of antiques, statues, furniture, art, and a host of other things. Theyre not cheap, but you can find some gems here. Its really a place like nowhere else.

Some amazing items saved from destruction. It gave us ideas for decorating our own abode.

We really enjoyed our experience with United House Wrecking. Several months ago, we purchased a beautiful mantle that we intended to have installed in the living room of an apartment we were renovating. Unfortunately, the dimensions of the mantle didnt work. However, when we reached out to United House Wrecking and explained our issue they graciously allowed us to return the mantle for a store credit (which we used to purchase some other great items). The staff there is incredibly knowledgable and their selection of furnishings is nothing short of amazing.

I use to go there when it was on Selleck St. It was incredible. I moved from Stamford 23 years ago and went to the Hope St store when I was in Stamford. I was so disappointed(putting it mildly). The items are new and very over priced. No old memories or history in this store. The owners did not carry on the tradition of the original store. I will not waste my time going to this store when I go back home.If youre looking for original old antiques, dont waste your time here.

Great if you need some concrete lions, bronze statues, outdoor furniture, or worlds-largest jade boats.

Great place for new pieces and antiques for a great overall design in your home

My wife and I have had many excellent purchases at UHW over the years. Recently, we found the perfect cabinet for our dining room however, the color was not quite right. Mario recommended we bring it to Glenn at Wood Den and even offered to deliver it there at no charge. Glenn and his team did an incredible job customizing the color. We could not be more pleased. Once again, Mario went out of his way to find a solution so that we could be happy with our furniture purchase. We continue to highly recommend UNH!!!

I purchased a floor model dining room table 2 years ago. I recently experienced some problems with the leaves and the brackets underneath. I called Mario and he immediately sent someone to my house (over an hour away) to fix the problem. He could have easily said sorry it was 2 years ago or it was a floor model so you bought it as is. But instead he stepped up and did the right thing. Very impressive. Not to mention they have some really nice pieces at reasonable prices. Would go back there in a second and can highly recommend to others.

Buyer beware, United House Wreck has a major problem with fulfillment. Five months later and our dining room table and chairs order has just been completed.Without question, United House Wrecking offers a bevy of unique salvaged items and bespoke repurposed furniture. Plus mass produced furniture. My husband and I purchased a dining room Table and 6 chairs the last week on December 2. We were NOT in a huge rush to receive this before Christmas yet the owner insisted theyd try to make it happen, that it takes 3 weeks for deliver we were told. Christmas came and went and then so did New Years, MLK and so we were at the end of January. My husband called UHW and was told the table had arrived, but the chairs never did, they were lost in transit. A new rush order for chairs was put in. We went away on vacation, we came back from vacation. No one called us. My husband called again and was told the chairs where expected and someone would call to set up delivery. No one called to set up delivery. My husband called back and was told the chairs were there and that UHW was waiting for my husband to call back to set up a delivery time to which he replied, how can I do that when no one has called to tell me these items have arrived? Not to mention, the owner who my husband had talked to many times never seemed to retain a recognition of him for each of the many, many, MANY times he called about our now incredibly delayed dining room table and chairs. Finally our table and chairs that were ordered at the top of December arrived in February. A day or two later we realized one of the chairs was in fact broken. My saintly husband once again called UHW, was told they inspect everything and had trouble believing something was broken. It was broken. The fellow my husband spoke to apologized and said hed order a new chair for us. A few weeks went by and my husband checked in and was told its been ordered at the end of March, we were still without a chair, or any communication from United House Wrecking. When my husband called back leaving multiple messages his call was finally returned and he was told these deliveries take time. I think weve waiting long enough. Finally today, 4/21 we picked up the chair. While waiting for assistance we over heard the owner on the phone with what appeared to be a frustrated client. We are not alone.We couldnt be more disappointed with our buying experience, we are left with a terrible taste in our mouths and cannot imagine ever purchasing from United House Wrecking again.
