On the basis of what must be hiring English majors to write their produce overhang information cards, they deserve 4 stars. Their full section of great bagels and Kosher foods was extraordinary. You could do all your Passover shopping here. Their regular grocery items were first rate at reasonable prices.
They have a nice coffee selection, some good foreign and specialty items too. But the prices arent good and its kind of messy, items are stocked in the wrong place so you think its one price and it turns out way more. Also a pet peeve of mine is when they dont have prices on the products or shelves which is a prevalent issue at this location.
Pricey market. Fancy display with much to choose from. A smart shopper can see the difference. At 2 pm on this Monday only one roasted chicken for sale and it looked awful. Really only one cjicken? What a kitchen. Other point is Bell/Evans poultry Fairway only carries skinless thighs. How about thighs with skin and also buffalo chicken wings. Neither available and when I checked told we dont carry them. As mentioned Fancy looking but lacking. Same with bakery dept. Will check out Shop Rite and Stop and Shop. So far Acme Market best for prices and inventory.
Changed my review from 5 to 3. Ever since they declared Ch.11 this year the store has slowly gone downhill in quality and variety. This does NOT reflect the employees! Pls be extra nice & friendly to them. The stores days are numbered and the staff are just trying to do their job and get by.
With recent pricing improvements, great produce and the best butcher shop and seafood monger its a testament to their desire to succeed. For a while this store was just eh yet over the past few months it seems as though they have finally figured out what works. Just watch expiration dates as they have such a diverse mix of products you will occasionally get home and realize that a product has expired but they give refunds easily. Prepared foods at the deli counter have improved as has the chopped salad bar, Ramen bar and even the sushi. Yes its actually not bad sushi for a supermarket.
This is an awesome store. Helpful staff, good prices on produce comparable to other mainstream grocery stores. Outstanding selection of coffee beans, seafood. Its easy to miss the entrance from the road, but worth going around to get there. Doesnt seem to be much else in the immediate area, but it looks like the area is starting to gentrify.
Really beautiful supermarket! Nice and large and super organized. Nice gourmet foods. A little pricey but to be expected.
A wanna be gourmet market that just has never quite gotten there. Weird stocking decision. Often very rude service. Tonight I tried to buy some Sumatra coffee beans. Someone had to get the guy behind the fish counter to get it for me. He yelled at me dont you know how to get it yourself!?!?. I didnt even know customers to do that.... And I dont know how to operate the machine that weighs it and prints the label. I asked for a pound, got a pound and a half. Ok, I didnt mind that. But when I got home, it was definitely NOT Sumatra coffee beans.Ill be getting my coffee from Starbucks in the future...
I would have to say this is by far the best market around, puts all other markets to shame. Huge place that is very well stocked, best meat, fish, and vegetables selection around, very fresh. They also carry all our I should say most popular brands but what sets this place apart is the cheese and deli selections. Exotic products, amazing coffees, teas, bread that is crazy good, olives, and vinegar that are incredible. That just on isle 1....The place is clean and comfortable lit. I would bring a sweater because it tends to be a bit cold inside. Great staff and really fun customers, always get into a conversation with someone. Pricing is fair to expensive although they have normal prices for the regular supermarket items.Next door is the Fairway Market Liquor Store which is huge. Amazing beers, wine and liquors. Once again normal competitive pricing...although you could easily spend ten grand. 10/10
Great chopped salad for lunch but they have a heavy hand and it got pricey. Probably partly my fault though. 😊Service is friendly and its always a great place to find a lot of products you wont find in other stores.Coupons are good deals if you get their app!
Its large chain store that has all the essentials. Their olive oil and vinegar selection is pretty good, fresh produce, and lots of natural beverages. It could use slightly better organization and creative displays.
I loved this place. Sadly the store is closing. Truly sad.
Associates are always rude from the cashiers to the people in the meat department to the people that clean up, specifically by the produce. Everytime I’m there someone always has an attitude with me when I try to ask for help. Great store, great items, bad customer service. There is no reason why people should be walking around miserable with miserable answers and miserable faces. They should always have welcoming smiles and should want to help me with any questions that I have. I just don’t feel wanted so I will keep my money and personally not shop there due to the mistreatment I’ve been getting. There was one guy cleaning by produce and had asked me to move very rudely and when I told him that he didn’t have to be rude, he raised his voice and got very loud with me which had me taken aback and very fearful due to the fact he was a bigger man and had bass in his voice.
They had rules in place to help keep social distancing which was great. For the most part everyone shopping followed the rules. This was a relief as the shopping experience right now is nerve racking. However, the staff did not follow any of the rules. The person ringing me up had no mask, was constantly wiping his nose, and provided no time for anyone to bag their groceries. He started ringing my stuff up while the person before me had just started placing their items into bags. Only when we asked him to slow down several times did he actually listen. Other staff were wearing masks but taking them off to speak to customers, and each other (defeating their purpose). For our safety, we will be shopping elsewhere while the virus is still a threat.
We were looking for some cut flowers at 10:30pm on a Saturday evening. The flowers loomed fresh, and the supply and variety plentiful. The cashier was very pleasant, even though the hour was late.
The selection is very good for various dietary lifestyles. I like that they also have a liquor store attached. However, there are some things I dont like. The layout of the store seems very disorganized. Also, the entrance and exit are very weird in relation to the parking lot. I dont really mind walking, but dont be handicapped trying to come here. The biggest thing I hate about this location is that they NEVER have enough cash registers open for the amount of customers they have. Even if you go on off-peak hours, theyll only have 1 or 2 people on registers. As mentioned in a previous review, they have about 16 registers, and yet they refuse to use more than a quarter of them. When grocery shopping, I prefer to get in and get out. That is an impossibility at this store. The only reason they are getting a generous three stars is because they do have a great selection of items.
Being a New Yorker (born and raised) and moving to Connecticut 5 years ago, I was delighted 😀 Upon Finding out that fairway had opened in Stamford. It’s reasonable and has great selections just make sure and bring a jacket 🧥 it’s always chilly 🥶 in there
Great supermarket. The Stamford store is HUGE! Great selection of produce, over 600 types of cheese, deli, fresh roasted coffee, an excellent bakery. Full butcher service in the meat department, good selection of fresh fish. A wide range of products, some conventional, some organic. Lots and lots of stuff. They also have a package store right next door with an extensive selection of beer, wine, and liquor.
Easy_on_easy_off from exit 8 of I_95 (Connecticut turnpike), this is in the south of town, an area that was once pretty rough but has seen a lot of gentrification over the last five years or so. This whole area is just a short walk from the train station and the downtown area. Lots of new restaurants and shops and drug stores in the surrounding area so definitely(New) things to do and see in this area thats undergoing constant development.
Worst customer service around. You walk into any high end market and they will cut you a custom porterhouse steak to whatever thickness you want. Not at fairway their butcher department has the absolute worst customer service. When I asked for a 2 inch thick porterhouse the butcher simply said “no, next” moving right on to the next person in line. They call themselves a high end market but in reality their customer service makes them no better then your local dump
Beautiful store! Alot of farm to store products. I find practical items like pasta, water, frozen veggies, dairy prices are inflated. I would buy elsewhere. A plus the staff are friendly and approachable.
Huge! Fresh fruit, prepared foods, and coffee. Best market ever! Did I say it was huge?
Quality of food is really good here. You can never go wrong, but its on the high end side. I think they got Whole Foods beat as far as pricing goes.
I absolutely love Fairway. Theyre more on the high end grocery store side,so the price on some things will be higher than your average supermarket, but they also have quality items. Theyre cheese market is amazing, with some really delicious and beautiful cheeses, great soups/stews, I loved the lobster bisque. They also have an amazing bakery and a sit-down section to eat. Overall, the store is amazing. If I had any complaint, it would be the parking lot, but thats just me nitpicking. You cant go wrong going to Fairway.
Freshest produce around, and worth a little bit extra. Big fan of the different fresh food counters; the pre-marinated meats are awesome for grilling or a quick meal prep. Service is good 90% of the time, and theyll even work with customers to fill special requests when possible. I used to avoid Fairway because I thought it was too high end, but now its my go-to for fresh foods.
Items are not fairly priced. Evaluating some of the items, they are more expensive than Whole Foods (eggs for example). Cat litter was more expensive than Amazon. Why bother going to a store?Lines are normally long as they are understaffed most of the time. If you’re in the area, would pick other options like Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods for a better and more value driven experience
Shelly is superbly friendly her aura and mannerisms in doing her job is more than I have seen in other stores she is always smiling leaving the register to help find product on the floor she is one of the best in your store cujo to Shelly
I like this store because of the variety and freshness but they hardly ever have enough registers open. And to make matters worse Some of the register ladies have a bad attitude and treat you like you are doing them a favor as was my experience today
PROS: Great produce, great Deli counters Amazing cheese collection as well as coffee. Fish monger are always very informative and friendly. They accept Apple Pay!CONS: prices are insane. The hot bar, you know the head chef hates his job, along with everybody else who works in the salad bar and grill. The kill all the food. The produce in the salad bar is truly horrific. They once told me half inch slices of cucumber that were translucent were still good. That’s just wrong. The butchers are super rude and the bakery, everything tastes old.
If you like purposefully poorly designed grocery stores that keep you wandering around the aisles looking like Lost Travolta, with prices double to triple what you would find at shop-rite or stop and shop, topped with a hipster vibe, then this is your place. If you like to get in and put while saving a buck, I would suggest other options.
I love fairway. There are lots of healthy choices. The vegetables look so full of life and the barkery has lots of tasty treats.
Love their produce & meat & fish selections. The meat guy was a bit abrupt & rude but other than that its usually a good experience and the quality is always great!
Just like in NYC, GREAT PLACE TO SHOP!!! THEY HAVE EVERYTHING AT GOOD PRICES! Huge store, great service, clean bright...just go!
Fairway- you are a great store for the variety and freshness of the items that you carry, but, corporate/management please listen- there are not enough cashiers or deli personnel. Wait times are too long. Otherwise I would have rated you 4 stars.Having read other reviews, management should listen to customers more closely and care about their customer’s feedback. There are other places to shop that aren’t too far away.
Fairway is kinda like Whole Foods. If you have been a Whole Foods you know what Fairway Market is like. Slightly overpriced for some things but a wide selection of things like nondairy milk and gluten free snacks. Bring reusable bags and talk about the benefits of eatting only organic and youll fit right in. It only gets four stars because they towed my car from the lot once. I still shop there though.
The mystery deepens, as years go by in this great yet overpriced store - the shopping baskets ominously began to disappear.Crowds of bewildered customers find fewer to none of them at the entrance now, some suggesting the cause to be a natural basket migration, and some suspecting a determined basketicide.A commission is to be formed by the management to investigate the disappearances and to possibly add a green shopping hand basket to the retail list of endangered objects. As this reporter entered the store today, a helpful personnel was able to locate one of the few remaining endangered baskets, proving they are not completely extinct yet, in the Fairway habitat.
Helpful staff. You need to bring your own grocery bags or purchase them in store
The stores managers should be fired immediately the trash in the parking lot was atrocious. It shocks me that anybody could shop in this filthy store.
Really like this supermarket. Price isnt the best in the neighborhood except for discounted items. But its big, well organized and its own branded foods are very tasty. Discounted items are brilliant. A lot of parking spaces outside, although people park in a sloppy way here.
They kicked someone out for not wearing a mask . They were very rude to this customer that stated that they had a medical exemption to the Executive Order. I will not be shopping there again due to this incident.
Convenient. Getting more organized. No complaints other than the strawberries that always seem to be in bad condition.Update:4/9/2019. The quality of the strawberries and other produce has improved significantly. They need to focus on the salad bar area now...poor food quality management. They also started promoting the hot-foods in the front area, which i must say is very tasty!.....i guess u cant have it all 😉☺
Its good. It has a breakfast bar. They make KILLER egg sandwiches. And they food there too. Thats epic.
This place is done! Nobody cares any longer and they act like they are doing you a favor for just asking a question. Stay away!!
Very good guality products, organic and regular, excellent smoked fish and Olive oil selection, reasonable prices, short lines, sided with a liquor store
Top class gourmet market. Superb variety. Better variety of ethnic food than than WF which caters to the bland middle American palate.
My favorite grocery store! Good selection. Roast their own coffee. Nice hot bar. Bakery.
Its a Supermarket, with unique items that you would not find another stores
A little pricey.. everything else is great
Great salads! Excellent salad dressings to go with the salad. And now. They lowered the price on the salads, which is great for the customers.
A large market with a small market feel. Fairway gets a lot right. Fresh fruit and veggies, fresh cheese department, love the fresh fish and meets. Love that they carry foods from small farms (blue hill) and bakerys (Berlin breads) as well. They could definitely improve on the check out process by adding in more cashiers, the lines are often long no matter how many people are in the store.
Dont shop there to often, I like it little over in some things.
Great place to buy probiotics, supplements, and Dr. Bronners soap at great prices. Their bakery and deli sections are awesome. I do wish they had more gluten free options available.
Good selection but poor customer service. They need to hire more staff.
Its big - real big. That said, for whatever reason, you almost always *dont* find what youre looking for - go figure.Things to note• They dont have any organic butter• The cheese section is ... small• The baked goods are actually quite good (the scones are *huge*. and yummy)• The hot-table is not bad• Weirdly unfriendly checkout clerks
Fairway has all the best everything. Best quality, freshest items, best selection. All the specialties, gluten free, kosher, organic, artisan, ethnic... the Spanish lomo from the prized pig of the mountain village of so and so. I never have to fear not finding what I need for recipes here. If however I need paper towels and cleaners I do better at Shop Rite.
A lot of healthy choices good store great people
Great spot for shopping with a lot of natural options and extensive choices in general. For a couple examples, there are a ton of quality coffee bean choices and a very extensive olive bar. The only problem with this place is theyve priced themselves on the fairly high end, but they are in a developing trendy area of Stamford so prices being what they are is not much of a surprise. They also could use a bit more organization as it comes off a little more warehouse in the feel (almost like a fancy bjs/whole foods blend). Would definitely recommend!
I needed a little something for dinner. I normally cook my own food, so I did not expect much. I was so happy with my purchase. The beef stew was out of this world! Could not cook any better myself.Ill be back for more.
This is the biggest and best health food store I have ever been to. A good example is their cold cuts: they actual cuts of meat, not processed meat.
Great market. Do yourself a favor and check out the olive oil tasting station near the back. Its almost always open and is great to try a bunch of delicious spreads and olive oils.
Great store 👍Excellent selectionFresh made sushi rolls are the best5 ⭐️
Horrible.... writing on cake... we were embarrassed to present the cake to our colleague...Best place for fresh vegetables. They also have wide variety of coffee, cheese, bakery items, fresh meat and fishVery organized storeWould appreciate organic food in frozen section
I like when they have the 10% off sale. Their sales are good on things we buy such as yogurt, cheese, bread, etc. I really like their lunch meat and some good organic fruit and veggie options. I like this store and always go when they have good promos going on.
Love the selection of food and options, but the kosher deli section gave my mom the wrong order and insisted that if was correct, and went with the grain instead of against (which is what youre supposed to do). Everything else is great though.
A bit pricy but best selection in town. Some of their sales can be good
Great whole foodsy market with a small but delicious breakfast bar. This is the best early morning option near the Stamford train. Just a 5 minute bike ride away.
Fresh produce. Great selection. I have never gone wrong with the staff!
Awesome selection. Great variety ranging from Vegan to Kosher. Reasonable prices. Cafe could use a little updating but great selections as well.
Fairway is a huge store. There are 16 checkout lanes and literally every time I go here, less than 5 are open. This store makes no sense. Whats the point of all those checkout lanes if they are never open, and then you have one poor employee dealing with a huge line, always calling for an override...its such an annoying store. Shoprite is much better.
Good selection of foods, great coffee. A little expensive and the service can be spotty. Its not my primary food shopping store but for fresh and speciality items its very good.
Love this stores prepared foods. Specialty foods like olive oil, cheeses, meats, seafood among others is fantastic. I just never do my basic grocery shopping here as it is too expensive and product variety is lacking.
Great place for sopping and I dont like shopping
I love the food selection. Almost as rich as Whole Foods, but much more affordable. Pleasant surprise!
This place is just amazing. They have the freshest choice vegetables and produce. Plus a wide selection of groceries you wont find anywhere else in town.
Always fun, interesting. Huge choice in smoked salmon, cheese, olive oil. Its back to being a favorite, after a brief sinker
Best market in all of Fairfield County. Nice mix of gourmet and standard grocery fare. Produce, cheese, butcher, seafood and fresh roasted coffee always make it worth the trip.
Excellent value. Quality products in a pleasant environment. Next door they have a solid liquor store as well.
Love the diversity in products and Im happy that theyre more open to discounts, special offers and coupons.
Normally, Ill give this place 4-5 stars for cleanliness, better organization and cordial staff. However, more recently Ive been noticing greed and price discrepancies. My son favors stonyfield organic milk and the price on it has gone up from 4.79 --> 4.99 --> 5.29 in a matter of 3-4 weeks. Maybe its the manufacturer, dont really know.On a more positive note, their bakery is better compared to other places. Croissant used to be my sons favorite for a long long time and I like their organic bread and eggs.
Superb selection of brand name and local items. Love the fresh coffee selection. Convenient location and fairly quick lines.
I love this supermarket. The layout is simple and works well. I think sometimes its hard to see the items on the aisle signs, but its not terrible. My cashier sad friendly and smiling, which is always a plus!
You can find here a lot of European food, good selection of oils, vinegars and coffee. It has a bakery, and a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. Organic choices available.
One of the biggest locations Ive ever been to of this personal favorite supermarket. Excellent selection of just about anything you could need for your cooking needs.
Nice shopping Market. Very wide selection of organic foods. Very big isles so no bumping into other people. Nice staff as well
Where foodies go. Love the depth of stock in important categories.
Huge supermarket- has almost EVERYTHING you could need! Except a good vegan section. But the fromagerie lets you sample cheeses. And there’s an olive oil bar and an olive bar. Everything is priced competitively and there are good sales. There’s also awine store next door!!
Excellent selection. Produce section is well stocked and fresh. Very good selection of oils and coffees.Bakery section is good as well.
Great place for quality food.
I have warmed up to this place after a long 2yr period of just being unsure if I liked the place or not. It is a pretty unique, upscale market with a lot of quality items. Some things that they carry, I can find cheaper in other grocery stores.
An upscale market. Nice selection of cheese, breads and meats. Went there a few weeks ago to buy fish (salmon, flounder etc). Way over priced. Salmon was any where from $13 to $25 lb. So went to Grade A in Newfield Center and got a nice fillet for $8.99 lb. Some items are reasonable and some not.
Prepared food not that interesting. Fish counter and meat counter are good.Expensive for basics and checkout is slow.
As far as supermarket goes, this is one of the better ones. Straight forward and simple layout, with a great variety of items. I can generally find what I am looking for on a given basis.Price wise, Id say cheaper than Wholefoods, but not by very much.
