VW State College gave me the best buying experience possible. As an older female, getting through all the details can be exhausting and confusing. The service department does not respect their customers time. My car was not evaluated until 25 hours after I dropped it off for service, despite the appointment I made. They are impossible to get on the phone. My car was held without me being able to contact the department, which made it difficult to make informed decisions about service/plan my day. They were unclear about when they could finish the service, responding to most of my questions with maybe. I thought these people were experts. They have no loaners available (the reason I go to the dealer for service in the first place) and charge tenfold for basic parts. Avoid if you can.

AVOID service center if you can.My experience with Ciocca VW for the past one year has severely flipped from wonderful to extremely terrifying. I bought a 2013 Passat tdi SEL last year and my buying experience was absolutely wonderful. All staff were courteous and even though grossly understaffed, they made an effort to cater to my questions and requests.The car is good, but had issues, which started to show up within 3 days of purchase but, Ciocca, still showing good signs, fixed everything very promptly and I was still very happy.Fast-forward to 2021 when I had issues with the brake fluid, heating core and exhaust all under 1 year. Every time I went for servicing, my expectations reduced along with my bank balance. My real annoyance however started with the annual servicing. A 60K servicing along inspection and brake fluid test was around $1000.Then, my check engine light comes on again, this time I am 1500 miles away from state college. A local shop, in-spite of being busy took the time to go through every detail of what couldve happened and how they fixed it to get me back on the road so that I could get home and charged me $60. After coming to Ciocca who I thought would empathize and truly understand what the problem could be, first couldnt diagnose the problem without resetting car to factory setting. Then they took over 48 hours to tell me they have just run diagnostics and couldnt find anything else and charged me $232 to put everything back and $90 for 2 elbow clamps. In addition, I see black oil stains on the door and the inside.No concern, no thoughts on what may have happened, no time to listen to me explain what couldve happened and what to look for, nothing. No thoughts on whether the car was safe to drive. No concern that I was stranded in the middle of nowhere with a car that I bought from them. Nope, they are just always in a hurry, always seemed to be overbooked and have no time for any sort of customer service. But something they do excel at is stating ridiculous prices for any kind of service. Utter and complete disregard for the customer is what is projected.The only good thing as of now at that place was Brian who was really helpful shuttling me back and forth from Ciocca to my work place!If you have read this far, you truly know what it was like for me at this place.

Tried pulling a bait and switch. I specifically called about a lease deal they had advertised. 259 a month 0000 down. I was told they have 3 in stock. I drive 70minutes to get there. Specify I am here for this exact deal. They acted like it didnt exist. Show us the top of the line model. (Deal for mid trim model) I have to find the deal on their website. Only for them to tell me, my trade (appraised recently at 20k, only worth 15.5... )then have the nerve to show me a 500 dollar a month payment -- do not go here. New management underhanded. Bait and switch tactics. I wish there was a law against that.Wasted 4 hrs of my time. But taught me do not ever deal with Ciocca again. Hopefully others find this review helpful. (Negative stars would be nice)

Not a good experience overall. Called numerous times with issues. Left messages since nobody answers their direct lines. Scheduled appointment since Im 60mi away, only to be told couldnt get paperwork done that day. Theyre more than happy to sell, or lease you a car. The service ends after that. Let me start by saying if you are looking to buy, ask for Brad. By far the best car buying experience I have ever had, and he was also great in helping me after my purchase when I had issues with the in house service dept. In saying that since I bought the car in June the service department has gone through a few managers, and at the time I could see why, I had several different poor experiences with previous management. With that being said, I had the chance to work with Sean today, and I am confident these issues are a thing of the past. He was extremely reasonable with me, and also has a plan in place to work with customers and his staff to improve the overall service experience.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a dealership. Upon arrival I was greeted by a manager who was instantly high pressure, and abrasive. The entire process was slow, painful, and misleading. They refuse to give you a straight answer throughout negotiations, and lowball from the start. When I stated that I needed more time to make a decision, the manager became very agitated and frustrated with me. They seem desperate for a sale, which isnt very appealing from a customer standpoint.I decided after my experience, I would check out another dealership and the process was streamlined, efficient, and I saved myself thousands on the SAME CAR. Avoid this mess at all cost - go to a dealership that actually has staff, and a better attitude.

I went in to Ciocca a few weeks ago to begin the car shopping process. I had ZERO intention of buying a car. After pulling in and parking, we were nicely greeted by Karl who over the next 3 or so hours was informative, friendly, and very empathetic to my current situation. He was never pushy, he wasnt wheeling and dealing, he just kept answering questions and guiding us through the process. With tons of information in tow we got ready to leave to further consider an option. Then he and his financial staff made us a great offer. Less than 24 hours later I decided to buy, contacted Karl, and worked through the rest of the process.My wife and I are very happy with our purchase, the way we were treated, and especially the follow up from Ciocca. Let me start of by giving a huge thanks to Joshua the sales person and Tyler the finance guy. They made the car buying experience amazing. Let me start of with Joshua. This man is very helpful, knows his job in and out, and is willing to help at any expense. I wanted a particular car and I wasn’t going to settle for anything less and Joshua not once stopped searching for the car. It took a month and some days but he was able to get it. He kept me up to date the whole time. My father loved asking questions upon questions and Joshua was able to answer absolutely everything! He took great care of us and treated us like family. He made the car buying experience a great one! Even after the purchase of the vehicle he’s still answering any questions I have! Now Tyler mainly did the finances for the car obviously given his title. But even after the purchase he has answered all my questions and tried to help me to the best of his ability! I highly recommend buying a car from them. They will treat your right and take care of you!!

VW State College has been great, but it doesnt do the same any more. Recently, I replaced my oil for VW 2012. When I check oil level at home after 3 hours from the service, I found the gauge shows just above minimum, around 20% above min between max and min. I reported this and came back to check with them. They told me that they put six quarts of Castrol oil and everything is right. It has always been in the middle or above 50% between min and max whenever I replace the oil for years. I may not come back to Ciocca VW for any service again.

A week ago I stopped at this place to see the used car I was interested in to find out that it was sold 1 hour before my arrival. I end up buying another car since they found the alternative in a timely manner and Brad (the salesman I worked with) was just great; he was helpful, professional and did everything to keep us comfortable through the whole experience! Being an F-1 visa holder adds some complications in documentation, but process was way better and simpler than I anticipated. I would definitely suggest this place to the community of international students at PennState.I took the star off because the paperwork took extremely long time, and the person I worked with run back and forward to ask and confirm all steps (it really seemed that I was the very first client of that person). On top of that, all documentation was supposed to be sent via email, but its been a week and I still didnt get them. Also, they still need to fix my windshield; so guess this post will be updated soon.

Great service advisors. Quality, quick service. Service is kind of expensive, and I wish they had loaner cars available for emergency breakdowns where youre unable to drive your car. My last VW dealer in another state was equally as expensive, but at least they had cars for you to drive when yours was not drivable. Ill go back!

My fiancé and I had a great experience buying his Jetta from here at the beginning of December. At time of purchase, we signed a Ciocca Promise form that we still have that states If either of our vehicles ended up in an insurance claim they would cover the 500 dollar deductible. The middle of December, my vehicle ended up with an insurance claim. I have tried since December 22nd to get an answer on how to go about getting this since it was promised to us through a signed contract. Multiple calls and emails and I still today have not received an answer. My fiancé and I are extremely disappointed in the customer service with this situation. I was told by our sales rep that it was true that we are to receive this money but the finance department will not return calls or emails or answer any questions. Not sure why this is a promise when it’s so hard to even get an answer about it. I have been more than patient with this situation and it has ran out.

Not a fan. Bought a Jetta for my son and had an oil leak and brought it back with other problems after that service and still had the oil leak. Lots of customer service speak and run around. Complained to the top and never had any follow up from anyone. The manager didn’t seem to be on the same planet. Charged my son 70 bucks for an oil change because the oil light came on while they were pulling in the shop. Wouldn’t let the kid leave until it was paid. I’m really not sure what they did but if I had to guess they corrected their mistake or oversight from the first visit and told another story. The oil change was three weeks old and the service minder was reset- by me. None of it made any sense and nobody really cared.

By way of update, Ciocca became new owner and they were committed to making right on the problems encountered by previous owner. I purchased my next vehicle with Ciocca. I am currently pleased with the process and recommend them as a dealership for a VW purchase. Their added services for the vehicle surpass any in the area. - Updated 3 November 2021.Personnel are nice and it is not their fault the company wants to rip people off with finding problems to not pass an inspection and use it as a means to extort exorbitant costs for repair. They wouldnt pass my state inspection because of a wiper blade they said wasnt any good. I used it on the way there without a problem. Worst part was them wanting to charge over $18 just in labor to replace the wiper blades. The blades were there times the amount of what you could get them for at any Advamce Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA or even Walmart. Most other places if you buy the wiper blades they replace them free. I said, No thank you... to their offer to the work. They didnt pass the inspection and I left. I purchased three vehicles in the past decade there and this is what they call customer appreciation? I will only ever go again if I must for warranty work. Anything else, I will find another place for repairs for what is needed. Not unnecessary repairs, only what is needed... As a business owner myself, I give a lot back to my clients and customers and it goes a long way for having a good reputation. This dealership is more focused on being penny wise and pound foolish and it will not be long till the word gets out and they will reap what they have sown... Again, the people are nice with how they interact with you, the way the place is managed is the problem...

My car is still under warranty and i paid diagnostic fees 4 times to fix a problem regarding my car speaker which i am not suppose to pay, but really disappointed by your service. I paid 4 times and still having same issue with speakers. Your service departments drivers agreed that their is a problem but technician couldnt find it, pathetic service. I was looking forward trade a another Volkswagen but now i will never recommend my self or anyone else to buy Volkswagen again

Before our experience this week, I couldn’t have said enough good about our experience at Volkswagen!My son & I went on a Saturday in May & purchased a Jetta from Karl, he was great! Tyler handled the paperwork & was fantastic! Beginning that we are dealing with Covid, there was no one there to detail the car & there was a small dent in the bottom of the door, no biggie, they assured us it could be scheduled & takes care of. So, just this past Monday, my son drove an hour to the dealership from our home for a 9:30am appointment, which they told him would take about 4 hrs to complete. He Ubered himself to breakfast & met up with a friend. I spoke with him & told him to call & see, since they already have the car, why not have the oil changed, so he called them.Well, upon returning to the dealership later that day, the car still wasn’t ready. He asked the girl (Lauren) if she had any idea how much longer, only to be told “I have no idea, I’m not back there”. So at 5:30 (8hrs later) his car was done! That’s not the best part, his car has been leaking oil ever since!!! So today, we take it somewhere here in town to only find out that the oil plug was put on too tight & damaged the oil pan!Both which now need replaced!! So not only an 88.00 oil change, but a quick fix today, for 45.00 until we see if Ciocca is going to make this situation right!

There are not many words for my experience with this Volkswagon service department. I have never had such horrible customer service. It has taken almost a year for an important safety feature on my car to be fixed and no one has had any urgency. Every time a call is made a new story (or lie) is told to try and make excuses why things haven’t been taken care of if you can even get anyone on the phone. I highly recommend finding a different place to take your car. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE

Tell me this is not rip off and I am wrong: went there for a radio code after radio was disconnected(VW security feature) and was told it MUST BE hooked up with a machine which costs 60 something dollars. Went online paid 2 bucks, get the code in 5 seconds. How can they do it by looking up the serial number and you guys as the dealer can’t? Why after I paid and OWN the radio, you guys want to charge me to turn it on????

Purchased a used Audi from Tyler back in December. There were a few hiccups at first with the vehicle, but Tyler gave me both his personal and work phone number incase I needed anything during the process of getting it sorted out. A minor repair needed made to the vehicle and it was fixed with no questions asked and no fees (was within the first 30 days). Ultimately, his customer service and dedication to making sure I was pleased with my purchase was a pleasant surprise. A month after I had it with no issues at all, he shot me another text just to make sure I was doing well. Id recommend working with him if possible - hes usually on the VW side. He made me feel like family!

This VW place is impossible to get an appointment with to bring in ones car. (I used to live in a densely populated city in the San Francisco bay area of California and never had to wait three to four weeks to bring in my Jetta to my local VW service center.)I have just had the check engine light come on and called Ciocca Volkswagen and was told they cant take a look at it, and they are booked out until Feb. 10. Really??? So I called Munro Tire and Brake (who have always given us such great customer service) and they can look at the issue right away.Ciocca Volkswagen of State College is useless. Incredibly dismal customer service.

Took my 15 gti in for a oil change. End price for the service was cheaper than what I was quoted. Also washed my car!!!! Which is awesome. They did a look over of the car and found a loose motor mount tightened it for nothing as it was part of the service to check that. Now owned by the thieves named cicocca. My recommendation is to never buy from Ciocca or any of the Ciocca Family, not only is there staff poorly trained, not knowing how to fix their own vehicles, but they have illegally sold me a unregistrable a car in the state of Pennsylvania (Frame Damage, and exhaust problems) and reported to me in writing at the time, that it passed inspection just days before I bought it. Lie to me once, and I know you will lie to me again.The whole family are Crooks, I wouldnt trust them with a bread knife.Update and response: Nope, its the same Ciocca family. I would highly recommend you stop lying about your family history, lawsuits and court records are public records.

No issue with sales department. When Im there in person I have no issues with service department. The problem is getting in contact with service department on the phone. Its absolutely terrible. Today I have called 5 times and never got a person. I left 3 messages asking for a return call and still no response. This is more than frustrating 😠. If you need to hire someone to answer the phone then please do it. Its hard to recommend your business for sales when its so difficult to contact the service department. Very disappointed!!

I have been to the Volkswagen State College service department several times now and they have ALWAYS been extremely courteous and efficient. They are hands down THE BEST service department in the state as far as Im concerned. Kudos to the guy who details my beetle because he always makes it look like I just drove it off the lot for the first time!Cwilkins

Went in to have my brakes replaced, and they completely botched the job. Had to bring it back the next day to have them fix it. This has happened twice with them. Went in to fix one issue, and came out with a completely new issue, and had to bring it back to get it fixed again. Completely annoying and inconvenient.

(Erie, PA)ALL Other Service Issues were taken care of & a Detailed Report was Thoroughly Written and Explained to me. EXCELLENT Customer Service!!! Even the Waiting Room Area and Restrooms were IMMACULATE (thanks to longtime employee Dave)!!!!!P.S. Even a Courtesy Shuttle to Downtown State College for Lunch was provided!P.P.S. They are aware of & working on Issues with getting through to their Service Department.

Awesome service. Saeed Parvin is the best mechanic in State College. Where ever he works, is where I go for service. You wont find a more honest or down to earth mechanic in State College, ask for Saeed!I have had awesome experiences at VW with John and Eric as well!

The staff was extremely helpful, they kept me updated the whole way through, and were very friendly. I chose to wait while work was done. It took a little while but there is plenty to do while you wait. Im new to Volkswagen and this was even more of a selling point in my opinion.

Received reliable timely service to our VW. Appointment time was convenient for us, we were given a clean comfortable vehicle to use for the day while our car was serviced. Ours was returned to us clean, with care taken to address our questions and concerns. Staff was cordial and efficient. Would definitely recommend VW State College to our family and friends.

Sales department people are nice. Service department is horrible. Was having issues with my vw, and after 4-5 trips there, and $1500 give or take a few hundred, they still didnt know what was wrong. To it to boalsburg car company. They fixed it with no problems. Knew what was wrong in 10 minutes. Will NEVER go back to V.W of state college for anything again.

Free popcorn and soda while I waited for service. Took 2.5 hours, but I was able to read and hang out. Fixed all the issues I was having on my car.
