The customer service at Nuckols is the best! They treat me like family and they don’t make me feel uncomfortable as a woman in a gun shop. Jim is the instructor there and he is awesome! He is very patient and his Classes and live fire training is the best in the state.

Perfectly serviceable retail store with employee helpfulness about what youd expect in this day and age -- mostly aloof, cant-be-bothered attitude, but with one or two employees who seem to actually care about the customer.The primary reason for the 2-star review, though, is price. Most firearms at Nuckols are well above average for the area. Prices at Dominion Outdoors, for instance, run about 20 to 30% less. DO has its own set of issues -- namely inventory and service concerns -- but price alone gives them the edge over Nuckols.

Dealt with Mike, they do well for old guys hahah. Mike was awesome to work with and helped me with my purchase of a mosin nagant carbine(m44) price was on the above average but better priced them independent sellers. I will.do continued business and thanks for the discounts. Highly recommend 👌

I had purchased two scopes off line because they were hard to pass up deals.... Had Nuckols mount both and bore sight them. Payed these people and neither of the two weapons would line in.... After consulting a tech from another business, they told me they would look at them to see if there were any obvious issues. In the end, both were improperly mounted, a brand new out the box Vortex scope has to be returned to the factory because it was ruined and the other luckily could be remounted and is still in working condition... Been loyal for many years to this business and it feels aweful to say, but I wont do business here any longer... I am sorry but I know alot of people work just as hard as I do for their money and should get what they pay for... I just feel like I have been let down for the last time... I will miss my hunting season due to this last experience and shouldnt... Hope you guys get it together...

I feel like this place used to have a reputation for being super elitist and an exclusive club your probably not invited to. for about the last year most everyone there has been helpful and relatively friendly. the big Santa clause looking dude stands out for always been nice and helpful to me.

I stop by from time to time to see if I happen on anything interesting. Prices are well above market rates and though theres generally a lot of selection, most of the inventory isnt unique. Employees pounce on you quickly when its clear youre browsing the racks and fair market offers are declined. Ask peak Gunbroker prices....well, Ill shop Gunbroker from home, thanks.

Chris has served at met all my firearm needs for years as well as all of his knowledgeable employees. If Nuckols doesn’t have what you need they will go out of their way to get it in for you. Hands down the best small town gun shop. And hats off to Brian “the guy with the beard” for giving me the best deal around on my purchases today.

Pleasant, helpful, and very efficient. As I’m sure they all fit the mold, today’s staff was more than willing to help, especially Brian (?sp) who went above and beyond to make sure I left with the appropriate information and the appropriate product. I’ve been in this store multiple times over the last couple years and it’s gotten progressively worse. EVERYONE stating that the employees are rude and more concerned with their own conversations than you are 100% correct. I will never again go to this store and it’s sad because it’s my closest to me by a long shot and the owner is a family friend. For his sake I guess good motivated help is just hard to find? I will be completely honest and from my personal experience as I soent about an hour or less in the store I didnt get ANY Rude or Unprofessional treatment during my visit.The staff there were very professional did NOT let me go unnoticed as they acknowledged my presents and asking if I had any questions and needed any help on anything in the store, without Any salesman pressure compared to other FFL stores I have experienced.I had the pleasure to interact with a staff member named Jack which was very much a great asset to the store and another gentleman whome I didnt get his name upon checkout but believed in the brand because he gave me the stores business card and marketed.Product Selection:Theres definitely a diverse amount of product selection to choose from ranging from Hunting, Recreational and Tactical.If they didnt have in the store, Im very sure they would go out their way to get it for you.Prices:Considering the prices with everything dramatically going up during the 2020-2021 COVID-19 Pandemic, some of the prices on certain platforms were a bit high and others were very reasonable.Overall, I DEFINITELY feel that Nuckols Gun Works would be worth the visit and investment. What used to be a solid gun shop at their last location, has turned for the worst it seems. When we walk in nowadays nobody talks to us. The salesmen seem to be more interested in their own conversations. They do not seem to have the businesses best interest. The place needs employees motivated to sell and grow their company. We even heard a while back that they told a customer to leave if they were not planning on buying anything. A friend of ours had their muzzleloader taken there to have the bolt removed that was seized up and they ended up stripping the bolt inside the barrel and told him it was fixed, then charged him for it! There are several other gun shops in the valley that provide superior service and more competitive prices. I wish this could have been a more positive review.

After shopping here several times over the years, Ive finally decided to leave a review. Went there a few days ago and wandered around for a few minutes until Jack came to answer some questions I had. Jack was very helpful and had almost every answer, and what he didnt know, he found the answer to quickly.So why the 1 star review then? Sadly, I simply cannot give this place a better review. Ive gone in the past to both the new and old location, and usually ended up leaving without even hearing a hello! Granted sometimes Id go during a busy time and I understand that. But I can remember going on weekday mornings and still not even getting a second glance. The most recent episode was during the same time period. Best I could tell, there was 3 other groups in the store, and only one being waited on. (Approximately 5 people in the store total, besides employees)Jack took care of everything up to the point of sale, then he asked another guy behind the counter to ring me up. No big deal to me. But the guy acted as though I had interrupted his conversion with a (seemingly) non-paying customer. The whole time he barely acknowledged me, and then I asked about the 5% cash discount thats clearly posted on the wall right behind him and his response was a short and snooty I dont make the prices. I finished my transaction. Not a thank you, nothing. He said heres your receipt, and I was on my way.Another reviewer on here is absolutely dead on the money: if youre not an obvious country boy, wearing camo, or just a good ole boy they can yack to to kill time, youre not going to get treated with much respect here.I have told myself before that I wouldnt return here, but this is the final incident for me. Its really a shame that none of the gun stores around here are very helpful. I am always one to buy local before going elsewhere, but next time I need something, Ill be leaving the county to do so.My 2 cents for the owner(s): You dont have to hound customers as soon as they enter, nor follow them around the whole time. I was in this place today, Ready to spend some money on a new gun. Ask to use the restroom due to 35 minutes drive to get there. Well to my shock I asked to use a restroom and a very very rude guy behind the counter told me ( we dont have a restroom) very spitefully mind you !!. I was looking at prices and do yourself a favor skip this joint and save your money he is %15 higher then all the other places Ive been to. You lost a lot of money BTW! And I found a restroom close.

Great selection. Great customer service. They were very busy but at least 3 people checked to see if we needed any help. They did not have a magazine i was looking for new, but the salesman on his own looked through a box of used mags and found the one i needed. I purchased a firearm and scope and they installed the scope and bore sighted it free of charge. Will definitely be back

Staff werent friendly at all, and their prices are absolutely through the roof. I understand things are hard to get in stock but charging double the retail value of a firearm is borderline robbery.

Eh. Felt like I was interrupting a conversation when I walked in. This is a place where all the retired dudes come down and talk about the new wood stocks on Remington bolt rifles, about how the grain is different from the last one and how the new such n such bullets fly better. Then a putz like me walks in and the counter guy says hello with a smile and everyone else looks at you with F-off eyes, youre interruptin something important here. Big collection, but from the Clinton gun ban era. If I was going deer and bear hunting everyday, for the rest of my life, Id been set. Pretty cool pistol collection. Prices are competitive-high side of things. It would be worth checking out, but briefly. Time to leave the 90s Clinton gun ban era and enter the Trump pro gun era. Do your Trump bumper stickers proud and help your feller Americans get ready for the Big Lua.

Best gun store staff in Virginia! These guys really help me anytime that I come in the shop. If that werent good enough, Oakley is the coolest shop dog ever. Its worth the trip to get to play ball with Oakley, she makes my day.

Followed me through the store as if I were going to steal something. Somewhat rude and impatient. The firearms are priced on an average of $100.00 more than they are worth. They try to steal from their customers by mounting scopes and then overcharging for the combo package. Any firearms dealer will tell you that once the scope is mounted to a gun, the scope has no resale value. Cheap trick. I would not recommend shopping at this establishment unless if you want to be overcharged. One last thought that crossed my mind while I was browsing, their inventory is so huge for such a small establishment. In my mind, their large inventory is a reflection of poor sales due to all of the above.

I was in to ask about trading in a scope. I had a scope that I had never used and it was retailed for $400. I was looking for a Red Dot scope and they offered to trade me for a Hawke Vantage Red Dot scope. I asked the valet of the Red Dot and was told $299 with a lifetime warranty. Once I got home I looked up the exact same scope and it was $86.99 and a 2 year warranty. shame on me for going the trade right then and there without coming home and researching the red dot first. However I feel this speaks to the I integrity to this business and I will NOT be doing anymore business there. BEWARE

Went in to buy a holster for my gun back in November. Found one I liked and they did not have it in stock so they said they would order it and it would take about 2 weeks to come in. Waited a month and had not heard anything so I called and they said it had not come in yet and gave no reason for the delay. Its now 2 months after that and I havent heard a word from them. Very poor customer service.

I purchased a used gun from them a week ago. They were very pleasant and professional to deal with, answering all my questions. The salesperson I dealt with was always available for a callback when I had additional questions.The FFL transfer to my local gun shop went through smoothly, requiring just an email to Nuckols with the information. The gun arrived when promised with the condition as described by them and in the online photos.I would definitely purchase from them again, especially since the gun I was a scarce model and they were very honest about the condition.

I have purchased 4 guns from Nuckols and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a relaxed, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. They always have a great selection in their inventory and if by chance they dont have specifically what you are looking for they can get it for you. Their pricing is very competitive, and they will accept trades as well.

Fantastic service. Ive been to many gun shops and this was by far the best experience Ive ever had. They were very fair and didnt try to oversell me. (They actually talked me out of buying a certain model that was much more expensive than the model I purchased). They took the time to understand my needs to help me make the best decision. Id gladly drive 2 hours to this store even if that meant Id be passing 10 other gun shops on the way. They are that good.

They have a nice selection of rifles, but it appears that their handgun selection has become more secondhand used guns than it used to be. Living in the city a hunting rifle is useless to me, and I would prefer to be able to buy a new quality handgun for home protection. Unfortunately their selections run more to other peoples cast offs anymore.

Customer service does not exist at this gun shop. I have been been here twice and have never had any of the employees acknowledge me. Im not going to waste my time on a store where an employee doesnt say even say hi. If I wanted rude employees that ignored me then I would just go to Walmart.

The owner convinced me to buy a gun/scope combo by assuring me that the scope he was selling was not only more expensive but better quality than the one I already owned and that he would cut me a good deal if I bought in store instead of ordering just the gun from the manufacturer. Turns out I paid nearly double the normal retail for a pos scope. When I confronted the owner, I was told that that is the price of not doing my research. Fool me once...I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Depending if you know the Staff or Chris (The Owner), being a regular there, thatll be when you get an ok deal. That being said and pushed aside, the prices are high, the inventory is hit or miss on the good and bad selections. But thats what you run into here in the valley when it comes to our local gun stores. Sadly and I will admit, I buy my firearms and ammo online due to the better deals, where local shops lack.My other point is, if you know about Firearms and can hold a conversation or make valid points on pricing and or the product they endorse (Being Nuckols) they wont work with you, theyll tell you to continue shopping at your online entities. Which is why I continue my online endeavours and why Im submitting this review.

Been in the store a few times, recently called them looking for a Henry All Weather chambered in 45/70. I was told that they could not get it, Henry does not list them on their website. I told him that a friend of mine has one, so the the guy tells me they must of stopped making them. I called another area shop, and they had one that same week from Henry. I am not sure that some of their staff is knowledgeable when it comes to firearms

Im giving this place a one star simply because i ordered a 7.62 bakelite mag from then on gunbroker and they sent me a 5.45 bakelite mag after leaving a negative review instead of attempting to correct the issue they leave me a negative review on my gunbroker account saying i was not an easy customer to deal with its not that hard to make sure you send customers the correct item they ordered id advise everyone to aviod this place and judging by the reviews on this place more people feel the same way.

Not only is everything over priced the staff cannot do anything without Chris. It seems like the guy is never there and when other employees come across technical difficulty they come up with excuses then divert to chris. As of today I was told Chris is out hunting then 2 minutes later another employee said Chris was at a football game. I dont have any faith in this establishment.

Over priced and under knowledged. I called asking about a certain type of ammo for a 12 gauge and was told sure we have alot of it in several different brands, so just come on in and pick what you want. . After driving the 45 minutes to get there they had nothing in stock anywhere near what i needed. This is the second time this has happened, and i can assure you it wont happen again. Hated to give it a 1 star but i could pick anything less....

A friend reccomended me to their competitor in fishersville, but the customer service at Nuckols, cant be touched by them or anyone else within miles! They always treat me like VIP and have the right answers and ALWAYS follow up when they say they will. I highly reccomend Nuckols for your firearm needs. Most of their firearms, arent hidden behind a display where you have to ask employees to just see how it feels in your hands, theyre out on shelves for the public, easy access. I know what I like without even needing assistance. Im greeted at the door every time by an employee and feel like my hard earned dollar is more than APPRECIATED! Dont waste your time with other gun shops in the area, this is the place to get all your need met! The gunsmith has dozens and dozens of years in the business, he knows his stuff!
