I recommend this record shop heavily! It has all the records you could imagine. I was able to pick up a very rare Daft Punk vinyl from here. Worth over 100$ got it for 24$! The store owner is very helpful and nice.
From the moment I stepped in the store I know I was in the right place. From the music that was playing (Style Council), to the finely curated selection of new vinyl. The owner Randy was very knowledgeable and great to chat with. Found 2 records (Pete Yorn and Uncle Tupelo) that were very hard to find. Will definitely stop back in the next time I am in Point.
GREAT selection and the owner is so friendly! Love it here.
My absolute favorite record shop! I come here all the time and never leave without something. Randy (The owner) knows his music and can help you find just about anything you need. If I need a CD or Record I always go to Radio KAOS first. Also dogs are welcome. Thats awesome.
I make a point to visit Randy every time I’m in Point. He’s always got a good recommendation and makes you feel so welcome in the store especially when you know how to handle vinyl records properly! Sorry I missed you this time!
Best place in Central Wi for music, CD Lps
Small shop, well organized. Good service, owner cares for his clientele. New items only. Mostly CDs and vinyl LPs. Posters and incense.
Great vinyl selection, friendly service
Hands down, the best record shop owner around. Not only can I find the tunes I need here - but get to chat with one of the most knowledgeable guys in the business. I dont shop anywhere else for new vinyl and CDs.
This place is completely rad! It’s an amazing time capsule from the golden age of grunge and rock. But don’t get it twisted, it has a balance of selection that spans decades. From rap to soul, pop to punk, no matter what your taste you will find it on vinyl or cd. Prices are great. The owner of the shop is a master of music knowledge and should be respected as he is one of the few left. If youre under 35 you missed out on the culture of the music store and this is your opportunity to learn from and support a legend. Highly recommend!
Fantastic store and a wonderfully nice owner. Very very much recommend this record store.
Always love this place.
The store owner was one of the nicest guys I’ve met. The whole environment of this mom and pop shop was welcoming and professional. I highly recommended dropping in.
I’ve gone to this record store a couple times with my older sister always impressed with the selection. My experience yesterday at around 4:50pm shopping with my friends was awful. I was planning on buying a couple records until while looking through the records the employee blew up at my friends and I for respectfully looking through the records. Unfortunately I will never stop by again. it’s too bad because I really did enjoy going in every time I was in Stevens Point but getting yelled at isn’t worth it.
I’ve been meaning to write a review on KAOS for years now and am just now getting around to it. I tend not to review businesses, but this is hands-down my favorite store and deserves the recognition.I live 2 hours away, and stop by any time I’m near the area. The owner, Randy, is incredibly knowledgeable about music and keeps a huge selection in the store. He recognizes me when I stop by, and takes the time to talk with me, ask questions, and offer help.Though the store itself is relatively small, the variety of music is comparable to big-city record stores. The place has posters and stickers decorating the walls, and a vinyl continually playing. Very old-school nostalgic feel.I can’t recommend this place any higher. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
We NEVER leave empty handed! GREAT variety and so easy to loose track of time! The best part is if he doesnt have it on hand, he can have for you within a week or so!
This store is a MUST-VISIT to anyone who finds themselves in Stevens Point. I went here frequently when growing up and spent hours pouring through their wide selection. Ive had the pleasure of getting to know the owner Randy over the years, and though he might seem a bit fractious to uninitiated newcomers, hes a bottomless resource of musical knowledge, recommendations, and stories and I encourage you to engage him in such if given the opportunity. The walls of cds are complimented with priceless artifacts and memorabilia from the music industry, and the atmosphere is intimate and intoxicating.Should they not have something particular that youre looking for in-stock, you can simply place a request with whomever is minding the store (typically the owner Randy) and hell give you a call in a day or two when he gets it in. (Ive always enjoyed this personal touch)Radio Kaos has always been INCREDIBLY supportive of local/regional artists, offering to stock hard copies of albums from local acts and fostering the regional scene. This place was a second home for me growing up, and I hope to see it continue to provide a positive influence to the Stevens Point Downtown area.
If I was able to rate more than five stars I would. Radio Kaos is one of my favorite businesses in the Stevens Point area. The owner(Randy) is kind, knowledgeable and always willing to help. I am always greeted with a smile and a hello. My 9 year old is always greeted with a smile and usually a KitKat(which was okay-ed by me prior). Randys customer service is amazing. I have never really interacted with a business owner comparable to Randy, and this I mean in the most positive way. I have been going there consistently for a little over a year now, and I would come in occasionally with my dad when I was much younger. I have never once been disappointed with the service I have received. If anything I am nothing but impressed. Because of going to Radio Kaos my musical taste has expanded a lot, and for that I am so thankful. I love how I can walk in, say hello, wander around and browse for whatever I may be looking for. I love that no one is hovering over me like some big businesses you go to now-a-days. I also love how I have had the opportunity to get to know Randy. I can always ask him what he would recommend if there is a certain artist/band I am curious about. If he is given the chance to get to know his customers too he is able to suggest other artists/bands that you might enjoy. If Radio Kaos does not have something you are looking for you can always ask Randy and he will try to find it and order it. The prices at Radio Kaos are fairly priced as well. Radio Kaos has also helped my 9 year old get into music. There is almost always something playing the background, and if my kid likes it, we end up buying it at some point. Its a respectable business with a respectable owner. I will always recommend this gem to anyone I talk to who is curious about where to buy physical copies of music.
THE BEST! Great selection and the owner is very helpful and knows his stuff plus being very friendly and patient
I came into the store for my first time with two of my friends, and we was extremely disrespected by the employee working that day. I began flipping through records as I’ve done at every other record store I’ve been to, not damaging or bending any records and even fixing the stacks after I flipped through them. One of my friends was deciding between a few records to buy when one of the employees came over and dramatically fixed a couple stacks that we had looked through. We didn’t think much of this and continued to flip through the records and discuss the music. The employee then continued to say, “Ladies, do not bend or handle the records it destroys them and I should not have to tell you this.” All of us were fairly in shock as none of us had done anything to ruin the records..? We decided not to buy anything and left. I own many records and I understand how to take care of them. I had not even pulled any records out all the way and made sure to put them back to the exact spot they came from. To my disappointment, I will not be visiting this store again and would not recommend it to anyone who asked. If you are looking for a good record store with wonderful customer service, I highly recommend InnerSleeve in Wausau. I am extremely disappointed with my experience here in Stevens Point and I hope that this does not happen to anyone else.
We drove almost an hour and a half to this place as I read good reviews. When we got there, I can barely breathe because the guy that was there was smoking and the place was filled with smoke. No acknowledgement... nothing. I asked for something and the guy totally acted stoned and didnt even put an effort to ask us what we were looking for. He just sat there in a totally different world. We left not immediately.
Radio K.A.O.S. is my choice for good values and friendly chats about music. The owner, Randy Wagner, is a calm and patient record enthusiast with a knack for directing people to new and interesting music.
If I could give this place negative stars I would! If you need to stop in for a record and you have kids do NOT stop here! He was very rude to us because my 1 year old was going in circles around the records. She never touched a record or anything she was just going in circles until it was time to go! This place will NEVER get business from me or my family!
Great little record store!
I went in here with my two friends and we were never acknowledged when we walked in. That wasn’t a big deal to us so we started chatting about the records and the bands we liked and the worker was sitting behind the counter and was giving us some serious stink eye and muttering to himself. We went on looking through the vinyls like we normally would, pulling the ones we already looked at forward and leaving the other ones to listing back and then putting them back after we looked through that stack. After about 10 minutes of looking through the vinyls the worker came over and aggressively slammed 2 piles of records that other customers had left leaning forward back and then stormed back behind the counter. We didn’t think much of it until he yelled across the store “hey girls don’t handle the records they bend and break easily!” Then sharply said “I shouldn’t have to be telling you this!” We had been handling them like anyone would and we found it very rude. Up to that point we were interested in buying a few records but I don’t think we will ever be back. I would not recommend this place at all. The atmosphere doesn’t seem welcoming and the worker was very rude to me and my friends.
If he doesnt have it, he can get it fast. Amaze yourself at the owners knowledge, but dont waste his time. And certainly dont underestimate this place by the size!
Radio KAOS is easily one of the best music shops in WI, and Randy (the owner) is a cherished member of the Stevens Point community. The atmosphere is always relaxed and inspiring, with randy’s latest find playing over the stereo, the aroma of fresh incense (a wide variety for sale), and the usual chatter of thoughtful conversation. Music lovers pushing through the area are in luck, as Stevens Point is also home to WWSP 90FM (89.9 on the dial), the largest student run radio station in the Midwest - specializing in alternative and local music. 90FM shares a symbiotic relationship with KAOS, and Many of the artists they play on-air can also be found in the shop. If what you’re looking for isn’t in stock, all you’ve got to do is ask and Randy will happily order it in. I rarely leave the shop empty handed, and I have never left without a wide, glowing grin on my face. For myself and many other people, this is the shop is the first place we bring newcomers and old friends to show off our home.
A cozy little record store in a college town. Always has what Im looking for.
Every time I go into this place the owner has rudely yelled at myself or one of my friends or even my mother for something really strange. It doesn’t help that she didn’t speak English that well and he couldn’t care less. I’ve even bought things from him. I always assumed he had issues with women because he’s never yelled at the men I go in there with just the women.
Stopped in after a long hiatus to look for some hard to find cds. I have learned over the years that if Randy doesnt have it in stock He knows where to locate what I am looking for. Best record store within a 100 mile radius of Stevens Point!
Knowledgeable and friendly owner. Great selection and cool store.
Love the place can find a lot of the music that no one else carrys.
The best record record store!
Special order pretty much whatever you want plus a comprehensive catalog of vinyl and CDs on hand. Many independent or hard to find anywhere else in the area.
This is a wonderful place to shop for your music needs in downtown Stevens Point. Ive been shopping here for about 10 years as of writing this. The owner has been in the business for ~30 years, is extremely knowledgeable about new and old music across most genres, jazz, hip-hop, rock, blues, reggae, rap...the only genre I cant speak for is classical and thats just because it hasnt come up in conversation.CDs and Vinyl records are primarily what is sold, with new releases sold every week, the shelves are kept current. There is also a balance of what is on the shelves, if you look on the shelves or just ask, there is something here for everyone. If you come in and a record youre looking for isnt available, ask and they will probably order it for you and itll be there in about a week (give or take). The records (when I say records, I am referring to both vinyl products and compact discs) are fairly priced, they are usually (but not always) priced in a way that is comparable to Amazon or Wal-Mart, and are usually still cheaper than going to Shopko, Kmart, or Target, and you will for sure find a greater variety of music at Radio KAOS than at any of the aforementioned (excluding Amazon-but thats not a fair comparison). It is worth mentioning that they will sell used CDs, but not Vinyl, which I think is fair-its easy to tell if a CD is scratched, but to sell a used vinyl you really need to listen to the whole thing. If you are the type of person who likes to trade your records and that sort of thing, you really are better off selling it at a garage sail or going to a pawn shop, because this isnt that kind of store. This is the kind of store you go to find a hard to find album that you cant get anywhere else, this is the kind of store you go to to build your music collection and expand the music you listen to.If you want to have an experience of going into a record store, the vibe, the music, and being around other people who love a wide variety of music, then this is the place to go.To summarize: Extremely wide variety of music, new releases weekly, if they dont have it, they can order it, great vibe, great atmosphere, reasonable prices.
Awesome place! Not as many vinyls as I would have hoped for but the vinyls that were there were all amazing vinyls.
Self explanatory, go there, you will see.
The employee working seemed rude. Didnt feel welcomed.
Very unique and a bit old school. one of a kind....no computer, no internet, no web URL. The owner is very into music and is helpful in asnwerinf any questions and ginving input and advice on any musical selections ...if you ask
Its a good place to find vinyl records for a good price
Fabulous place to buy vinyl!
Still rocking after all these years
Best record store in the land
Have fun!
Randy knows his music!
