I was there Saturday October 1,2021. I was excited to try the shop out. My kids got the peanut butter cup., the grasshopper and my youngest sour jelly beans. I noticed after my son ate them that the candy expired Dec 2020.Obviously no one checks expiration be careful.

Amazing fudge! Chocolate and ice cream was great here too. Service was very friendly and they offered samples of the fudge, but no samples for the ice cream.Chocolates were about $32/pound, but that excludes truffles which are $3.50ea. Ice cream scoop in a cake cone is $5.95, but at least the scoop is generous. I really enjoyed the peach cobbler ice cream! Sea salt caramel fudge is the most popular fudge and was fantastic, and the best chocolate I tried was the coconut cream, but the most popular chocolate candy is the best claw which contains peacons, caramel, and a choice of either milk or dark chocolate. This store also makes their own large peanut butter cups, but not the small ones.Besides all the chocolate and ice cream, they also make their own popcorn, chocolate pretzels, and wide assortments of taffy. But dont forget all the classic candies they sell like the candy cigarette classics!

I dont like taffy, but we bought $60 worth because it was so good. Such fun flavors too - chicken and waffles was surprisingly good and frosted cupcake was really tasty. The man who helped us was super sweet, even though he was running the place by himself and they were busy. Fudge was really yummy too.

This is a tourist trap. $20 for 2 ice cream cones. Which my wife pointed out and we laughed about…..then we were rung up for our chocolate, which was mundane/average quality at best for a whopping $45 for 3-4 chocolate cherry clusters. You’d think it should be maybe $3-4 per piece. And just tastes like melted down extremely mass produced gross chocolate. We didn’t know the prices until checkout and, I’m not sure why I didn’t speak up, but I guess was too embarrassed to say “sorry that’s too expensive.”Be careful - do not go here. Seek out one of the many “country stores” in Door County with sweet treats at much more reasonable prices. All week we kept thinking back to this experience and felt taken advantage of. I guess because they are the only “fun store” left on 3rd street they think they’ve cornered the market. Or maybe they don’t care about their one time only, tourist clientele knowing they likely won’t be back regardless. I’m not sure.Additionally the older man working there was very kind but I can’t say the same about the older woman. After seemingly noticing a long line growing, she proactively offeree to help the group behind us in the ice cream line. Was she overwhelmed or something? But noticeably & drastically changed attitudes like she was suddenly really bothered to be helping them or it wasn’t worth her time. She snapped. Very terse responses - I felt bad for this family, who clearly didn’t speak English as their first language.

Four stars, only because of price. They have a large selection of candy, more than the other candy store up the street, and the staff was great, but the prices are 30% - 100% higher depending on what you buy compared to the other store. If you are visiting, stop at Door County Confectionery first and save some money on fudge and truffles, then slide down to this place for the stuff DCC didnt have.

BUYER BEWARE... Way over priced at $39.95/ lb. The little bit of candy we purchased was half the price of the delicious meal we had for 8 people at Sonnys... $50 plus dollars for 4 turtles, and a truffle... Felt robbed. Pandemic is effecting all of us, but this place seems to be doing very well. Also, cedar crest ice cream which can be purchased at a grocery store. So becareful. We were unfortunately taken advantage of, and didnt speak up, as it was closing time, and another group waiting to check out. So disappointed with this business...

If I could give this place a zero review I would. 3 women and they looked at me while I was standing in front of candy case waiting for service like I was stupid. Got helped after about 15 minutes. 1 woman went to the bathroom with her apron on and went to the bathroom never taking it off, never washing hands, and went back to making candy... Gross. The other woman who got my overly expensive bag of yuck grabbed candy without gloves. I bought truffles.. Not really a truffle...a grainy chocolate candy with a half a piece of jelly in the middle. None of them had ganache.

Review №48

Well, lets just get this out of the way: the prices here are expensive, on SOME of the things that they have. If I remember correctly, their homemade chocolates were $32 a pound, and ice cream, for a single scoop, was about $6 for a cone.As for their homemade chocolates, I LOVED THEM! Some of the best Ive had. Almost all the homemade chocolates where I live are similarly priced, so no big deal for me, all I cared about was the taste, and it was worth every penny. The ice cream was also excellent, and really not that much higher than other independently owned shops in Door County. I paid more for a small dish of gelato in Fish Creek, so keep that in mind. Now that we have that out of the way, I LOVED this place. The people working there were really friendly, and extremely helpful. For those looking to get a treat for less, they have an ENTIRE WALL of traditional candies, including some brands Ive not seen in years, like Charleston Chews, which I ate all the time when I was a kid! The selection is incredible, and those looking for something for the kids will find a lot they will like.Probably the best candy store Ive ever been in, and Ive been in quite a few. So whether you want to indulge in their fantastic homemade chocolates, popcorn and treats, or just want a Hershey Bar for the kiddos, this place has it all. I consider it a must-stop shop for all sweet tooths.HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!!

Fast counter service, clean and organized candies of ALL kinds, and dark and milk chocolate options on many homemade items in the case. I purchased dark chocolate covered orange peels and angel food, which is another name for sea foam. One of my all time favorite candies!! They didnt carry licorice snaps, but had many other licorice items, both red and black. Sugar free options were perched on a shelf as well--nice to include! I somehow spent thirty dollars here-- not sure how that happened, but the candy is fantastic! So five stars it is.

$47 for five Ice cream cones. Not even good ice cream just Cedar Crest I could have bought at the grocery. $3.50 upcharge for a chocolate dipped edge of a stale waffle cone, on top of the insane price per scoop.I get it, Im in DC so the prices will be higher but this was over the top. My own fault for not carefully checking the prices before saying yes to the kids, or just handing them back the cones at the register.Seriously Ive never taken the time to give a bad review to any business, especially a small business but this place deserves it for outright robbery.

Guys, I promise you Im not a (very) cheap person. But this place is legit the most expensive ice cream parlor Ive ever been to.A single scoop of ice cream is $6. To have it in a waffle cone instead of a gross cake cone (like youd get at McDonalds) costs an extra $1.50. Those arent even the fancy dipped waffle cones either (I didnt see the price for those). So were talking $7.50 for a regular waffle cone with a small amount of ice cream. Honestly, where the heck do you pay prices like that? Literally every other ice cream place in Door County is $1-3 cheaper than here. Its Cedar Crest ice cream, which is admittedly delicious and good quality, but again, most places in DC serve the same stuff for less. Heck, theres a place in Dundee, WI, that serves baby waffle cones of Cedar Crest that are honestly more like 4-scoop cones and they come in under $3 each. Insane.I guess if you can rationalize paying $7.50 for a waffle cone, good for you. But did I mention the prices of other ice cream options?Regular sundeas. Like, 1-topping sundeas: $9.95.Shakes and malts $9.95.I... I cant. All of this is before tax and before tip (which you should be tipping your service workers!).All I can say is that I hope to God the employees are making BANK working there (like, over $15 an hour before tips). Otherwise, if all that extra money is going into the pockets of the owners, Im calling it like I see it: greed.I felt too awkward to walk out once I walked in there to get ice cream, so I bought some, but know this, Im never going back and Im warning everyone I know not to go there and waste their money on the wildly inflated prices.

Unless you want to pay heavily for a few seconds of nostalgia and cuteness, I would pass this place up. You might as well go and get a filet mignon and save some money. I obviously understand that they are serving to a wealthier crowd but if you are at all budget conscious, like me, go and spend your money on a more note worthy cause. As for the chocolate, it was alright. Not bad but nothing I would ever pay that price for. I was a bit disappointed when I took my first bite and nearly broke my tooth on a cherry pit but the rest was ok.
