Neat little stop on the peninsula. A lot more wine than liquor from what I saw at the store.
The price of the liquor tasting was shockingly reasonable, which was excellent-- and they had a deal going where if you tried 5 liquors you got a shot glass, so of course we did. The ones we tried were decent, but we tend to like sipping liquors neat, and these ones tasted like they would work well as high-end mixers rather than standing alone.
I hate to give bad reviews but I was so I inspired by the way we were belittled and made to feel unwelcome by a lady working inside that I felt compelled to write a review. Outdoor area is very nice and gentleman that waited on us was great and told us there were more options inside. Drink outside was just meh. Went inside and were in the wrong section of distillery section to order. Lady told us where we needed to order which is great but she added where the BIG sign is making us feel uncomfortable so we left.
We have been tasting at DCD on our annual Wisconsin visit for years. Purchased my usual 2 bottles of Single Malt for winter sipping in Colorado. Also picked up a bottle of gin/wish I would have gotten more. Works great in tonic with some fresh lime juice. Worth a visit!
Distillery nice with good and pleasant service. Winery nice but service, not so much. Got the impression we were a bit of a bother even though spending more than $200.
Went here for a tasting - it’s about $2 per shot of the different liquors they offer. Definitely worth it! From vodka, gin, whisky, rum, and even moonshine. We left with three bottles since there is a discount for more than three bottles. It’s very clean and organized, with nice accessories for any bars at home. Depending on the time you go there may be a line to get to the bar, but that’s understandable cause they’re social distancing at the bar area. We didn’t try to wine side, but it looked just as clean and organized from the outside.
Nice place. Lots to choose from. We tried several samples and they varies from very good and a little rough. Ended up purchasing the rye which was pleasantly smooth.
One stop shop for craft wines and spirits. Tastings are commonplace. And if you like bourbon you have to try their small batch bourbon. By far my favorite.
Spirits are not that good. Some wines were good
Had a lot of fun visiting the distillery
It was very friendly. The distillery workers were very receptive of my divorce proceedings. Hah. But very welcoming and informative on top of it.
Great employees!! Wine and Distillery samplings were amazing!!! Will be back often to stock up!!!
Our experience at the wine tasting bar and the gift shop were both fine but our experience at the distillery was awful when it comes to customer service.I suspected early on that the woman who was serving us was drunk (I spent six years as a server and bartender), but my suspicion was confirmed when I went over to pay and she was swigging from a cup and rambling on to the people next to the cash register about how she had at least three shots in the drink that she was enjoying. She was pretty all over the place during our whole experience and we were only there for about 30 minutes, maybe even less than that because we couldnt wait to finish our drink and just get away from her.The part that really did it for me is next. I was driving for the day, so I just got a drink for my partner after we did our shot tasting (me only two shots followed by water and her three shots). The lady asked us if we wanted two straws (which is a totally normal and fine gesture) but I said no thank you because I am driving and wasnt planning to drink anymore. I then stated that I could just share the other straw if I wanted to try a few sips of my partners cherry old fashioned. She said, Well, okay (in a condescending and questioning tone) and then as she walked away toward the couple next to us, she threw her hands in the air and while dramatic doing air quotations, she mockingly said, Oh yeah, theyre all save the turtles, oh geez. I was in shock at first, but then quickly became aware of her anti save the environment stance as well as her anti-COVID vaccine stance. Normally, my approach to these things, to each his own, but that is not the typical of behavior that I would want exhibited to customers in my establishment. That type of behavior also leads me to believe that this person probably doesnt follow proper protocol when it comes restaurant and bar guidelines and COVID cleanliness. All in all, this person is reflecting poorly on the establishment and this is the last person that you want your customers to interact with during their visit.Being in Door, all types of people, from all walks of life will come to this establishment. People with different perspectives and ideologies, from different backgrounds, cultures, etc. They shouldnt be mocked by staff and made to feel uncomfortable when theyre just minding their own business and respectfully declining a straw.Even after being made to feel uncomfortable, I still asked for change to tip since I couldnt tip off of my credit card due the retail system used by the entire venue. Her response was, Oh just pay it forward, thats what I always do. Maybe shes just living off of the free drinks or something, Im not sure, but all that I can conclude is that overall, her behavior was bizarre and we will not be back.
We have been visiting here for 19 years now. Always a good time and great wine. Staff is great.
Fun, friendly, great spices rum
Good drinks but very poor service. We were rudely rushed out at the end of the evening and made to feel as if we were burdening the bartenders for the 25 min we were inside. Not a great experience at all.
Nice wine tasting and even better distillery. Reasonable (or free!) cost and good quality. Friendly and helpful staff.
We were not able to do an actual tasting but the people were so nice and helpful. If their wine is as good as the people it’s a best seller.
Best wine and distiller vodka in the state!
I did not visit on a recent trip, but I did buy a bottle of Cherry Brandy from a local store in Door County for ~$30. Big mistake! I thought it would go well with an Old Fashioned, but it will just ruin anything you put it in. Beware.
Great selection of different fruit ciders
Decent place to spend some time while in Door County. The wine samples are complementary (up to 7). Wouldnt say they have the best wines but there are a few good ones, especially if you like sweet/fruit wines.I agree with the other reviews on the distillery. The spirits just arent good. Maybe they are new to this and need more time. Not sure but they could use some help.Staff is extremely friendly.Id say that if you are looking to waste some time, this is a decent place to go.
Very strange experience. The bar area was unorganized and the bartender didn’t explain how things worked very well. The shots all tasted delicious though! Isn’t a “must-do” when we come back
The atmosphere of this place is super great and the workers are very nice and helpful! The wine selection is great and the wine itself isn’t too bad either! And you get 7 free samples which i thought was an awesome perk! They also have oils and fudge for sampling which is great for those looking for non-alcoholic things to try. The only thing I will say is that the spirits at the distillery are absolutely GARBAGE. They are set at a premium price point yet they are not of premium quality. I am not sure how long the distillery portion has been around but I do feel as though there is lots of room for improvement. However this over all is great place to visit and we may give the distillery another try when we pass through again.
Slightly disorganized. The server in the Distilling room was very helpful. Cool place.
Very nice facility
Our first stop on the Door County Circle tour. Had a whiskey sampler flight and a sumptuous cherry wheat beer. Loved the whiskeys! Tried the rye, the single malt whiskey, and the bourbon. Prices were truly reasonable and the quality was superb. Got a bottle of some amazing barrel finished gin and also some wonderful brandy. Do come here if you are a fan of local boutique spirits!
We stop here every year. Tastings are really fun and the selection is pretty great. Im a huge fan of their cherry vodka. This place is also connected to Door Peninsula Wine, so it has something for everyone. Must visit on the way up the peninsula!
With a huge and delicious variety of wine and spirits this place is a must stop for enjoyment! They also have a great shopping area for specialty olive oil and more. Well worth a stop!
The staff running the tasting rooms at both the distillery and the winery were super. They were attentive and helpful as they served our tastings. There was no rush to get us to chug and move on. In fact they wanted us to savor our selections and enjoy the moment. The Door County Whiskey and Vodka are outstanding. The Whiskey was smooth and clean like a great Islay single malt. A perfect blend of flavor and aroma to be enjoyed watching a Door County sunset. The Vodka is as smooth as any of my favorite high-ends that I can get nationally. The Gin is very aromatic and has a great crisp clean juniper finish. Cant wait to mix and enjoy a refreshing G&T.Taking some of all three back to Texas to enjoy later.
Bought a couple bottles.
Enjoy this place more each time I visit. Vodkas are killer, especially the cherry. Love how they have oils and dips out for sampling. Cherry wine cheese dip is a must-have along with the Cherry salsa. Party favs for sure.
Nice place. Very busy, but good service. Wine is ok and the distilled products are rot gut at best. Tried the vodka, brandy, gin, whiskey and the shine. I have drank alot of different booze, no expert but it was nasty. Nice gift shop, good atmosphere...just need to work on the distilled spirits. Last time I was there 8 years ago, same story. Have had better $7 booze than this stuff.
The liquor was nothing special. The only one Id consider above average was the cherry moonshine. The bartenders literally only poured us 3 small pours, and there was no additional information about the distillery given (or even offered). If it wasnt attached to the winery we wouldnt have even stopped. Not worth the money.
The craft liquor was sub-par. The gin was far too strong and herbal and the other clear liquors weren’t fantastic. Three tiny pours for a tasting flight that was far too expensive to begin with. That being said the winery was amazing. Up to seven tastings for FREE. All of the ciders were incredible and reasonably priced. I’ve been twice and each time I’ve taken a bottle of Modern Cider home with me.
Limited tasting outdoors in the rain and cold. Purchased nothing.
Great place. Currently $2 a sample. Very friendly and informative girl, highly recommended.
In my opinion, this is the best winery in Door County. I enjoyed all of the wines I tried here, and their liquors are all great too! I was slightly disappointed with the liquor tasting they offer though, as the sample sizes leave a lot to be desired for the price.
Fun to take the wine tour which briefly included some information about the distillery, which had just moved some of its production to a new room. The tasting room was nice, but definitely go during happy hour to get your moneys worth.
Great products and great service!
We were excited to try this place after seeing great reviews, but it was a disappointment. We each had a flight which was overpriced and small on the pours. I honestly think this distillery gets a lot of hype because we didnt feel like there was anything special here. The bartender was friendly and the facility was very nice, though.
First wine tasting and distillery tasting for me. Great staff. Very helpful. Very knowledgeable. Fun place to visit.
Service was good on distillery side but wine side the staff was more worried about who was coming in when than asking us if we wanted to try anything. Walked out.
Nice place, but I was taught that when your serving the public you should smile once and a while.
Nice facility, but wasnt too impressed with the drinks. Tasted like normal off the shelf liquors. Only the bourbon really stood out for me as being above average.
We had a great time! The sampling was fun and the service was outstanding.
Luminous Vodka is great
Enjoying a evening at home with our Door County Cherry Vodka and tonic. Excellent way to start the weekend.
This is such an amazing place !! Staffbis extremely friendly knowledgeable and very helpful !!
Great spirits
Ill pretty much stick to my much beloved Crown Royal whisky over this bottom shelf bourbon whiskey that is WAY OVERPRICED !!
If you enjoy taking tours of distillerys, brewerys, etc..., this isnt for you. Very little information about the winery, even less about the distillery, and almost everything can be seen from public areas. Disappointed.
Very nice people and a cute little place.
Very friendly service
Nice place
Nice facility, but the liquor was not good.
Luminous Vodka was the best Ive ever had, almost tasteless.
Its just a really big gift shop.
Nice place.
Fun
