My Family and I have been visiting PCB, Fl. once or sometimes twice a year (were from Indy) for the past few years now and every single time the wife and I HAVE to sneak away and eat at Hunts at least once while were there. I love the raw oysters (even got me a hat Eat Em Raw), also the gator bites and mushrooms, onion rings, and the wife loves their grouper. We love all the staff and hospitality as well!We were there in June and actually going back in late August, cant wait, see you all soon!Lord willing. 🙏
Hunt’s is such a fun oyster bar! It’s jam packed with people because it is a great staple place to eat. The oysters we had were solid, not on ice so not very cold but still good! Love the merch they have, I got a hat. And our service was amazing! We would totally come back when we visit the area again. ☺️
This place was great to us! I met a friend that I hadnt seen in 40 years here. We knew we were going to take our time to catch up.The server was attentive and patient as we drank and ordered multiple times.I will definitely be back!Great local spot!
This place is a simple, local oyster bar steeped in nostalgia and incredible food! The oysters, baked, raw or fried are as fresh as can be had! The quality is sublime! The fried grouper is tender, nicely seasoned and fried to perfection. It can be had grilled too!Service was excellent and attentive. The kitchen was very well-run, as I saw orders coming out quickly and efficiently and the orders appeared to be well-put together. Prices are really VERY good for this type of venue in a prime tourist location and with this quality of food. If youre in the area, you owe it to yourself to try this place out.
We had looked forward to trying a different place while it was a bit out of the way for us and a small restaurant it was good food. Pretty much the same as most restaurants around. The service was great though. Every meal is so much better when service is great so 5 ⭐️‘s for service.
We were down at Panama City Beach looking for a good seafood place to eat. Many of the restaurants down there are very touristy and dont have an authentic feel. Hunts is a great place to eat with very good food. One note, if you are Covid 19 vulnerable, you might want to wait. I dont think anyone working or eating there (besides myself and my wife) were aware of the pandemic or social distancing or even knew what a mask was. We have both completed our vaccinations, so we were not as much at risk, but before our vaccinations we would have taken one look and left. I had a dozen raw oysters and fried crab claws, My wife had the Crab legs. We both had salads. And all were exceptional. Even the house salad (the cheapest item on the menu at $2.99) was fresh and well made. They definitely pay attention to the details when it comes to the food and it shows. Everyone was friendly helpful. We got there about 5:30 and had a 20 minute wait, by the time we left at 6:50, there were many people waiting outside about 3 times the number when we got our table and this is during the off season, so arrive according to how long you want to wait. This is not a large place, so seating is close, but definitely worth a trip.
Speaking as a Cajun, the food was so flavorful. Not spicy but seasoned. The oysters were so fresh and delicious!! We had both raw and fried oysters!! The grilled red snapper was also very tasty. The service from Tess was top notch. Great smile and efficient. The entire staff works as a team which makes this small restaurant so impressive. We are here until Monday and will definitely be returning.
We had Oysters, fried alligator tail, hush puppies and fried okra. How I love Southern Delicacies!! Lol. Delicious! Wonderful service and a definite must go if you are in the area. Even bought the t-shirt.
Freshest oysters and seafood anywhere. Long wait times but worthwhile....Just keep a cool drink in your hand and the time goes by quickly.
Overall not impressed. The wait time was decent. We received a message that our seats were ready. When we went to the host stand we were then told that only one seat at the bar was available and were sent back outside to wait. We watched 3 or 4 groups of 2 who arrived after us getting sat while we waited again. We ordered 2 dozen lightly steamed oysters, these were MICROWAVED in front of us and served significantly steamed. We also ordered 1lb of shrimp, we definitely did not receive a pound. For Cajun seasoned shrimp, these were the most flavorless shrimp I’ve ever eaten. The piece of corn that came with the shrimp tasted like it had been sitting in water for 4 days.
We were visiting from Houston and our friends & family were raving about this place. They mentioned the long, hour wait lines because its so popular. Being a foodie who eats out daily & loves traveling and trying new restaurants- they got me PUMPED UP! We arrived around 1 and there wasnt a long line, no line at all thank God. We were seated within 5 minutes. Our waitress was sweet and the food came out pretty quickly. However, I was quite disappointed. Maybe they hyped me up too much and I was expecting the best seafood Ive ever had you know? But it wasnt. We ordered 5 dozen oysters 3 baked & 2 raw. The baked was good but the raw was wayyyy too salty for my taste buds. My blackened grouper was okay but the tiny scallops were really bland. The sides-veggies were bland too like it was boiled but not seasoned. The crab claws were too salty as well. I felt like if it wasnt too salty, it was too bland. I will keep searching for the best seafood spot in Panama City as I visit a couple of times a year. This wasnt it for me unfortunately, maybe not a popular opinion but its my opinion. Maybe Ive been too spoiled from living in a big city with a large variety of amazing food; my taste buds are high maintenance lol
The wait was a little long, but not awful. Its a small place, and we had to travel 45 minutes to get there, but it was worth the wait!!! Great food!! Prices were not bad. Good service. I hope to go back again.
Definitely worth the wait. We were dying for raw oysters and no one in town or on the beach had them but Hunts sure did. Everything was great down to the service to the oysters and atmosphere. We sat at the bar and were greeted by several smiling faces and they were all willing to help you. Will be back!
The oysters were amazing and service was alright considering the size of the party. The 2 star review is due to the false advertising of the daily special. The special was whole lionfish & with my experience as a commercial fisherman and diver for profession, I can guarantee that what I was served was not lionfish. It was 100% some species of snapper. I would have given 1 star and sent my food back but it was actually very delicious and I would hate to see 5 orders of whole fish go to waste. Everyone actually really enjoyed the meal but I wish that they didn’t false advertise because I would have paid the same price for a whole snapper. Anybody who is familiar with lionfish would recognize the shape and size of the fish as being a snapper. Great food but don’t believe everything as advertised. The red plate is what I was served and the green plate is what a whole lionfish looks like. Notice the spines of the dorsal fins are cut on a real lionfish as these are venomous, the snapper on the red plate has its natural dorsal fins in whole condition…
The locals recommended this little gem while in PCB and its definitely one of our favorites now.. The food is AMAZING, and will not disappoint!! Get the loaded baked oysters, (cheese, bacon, Cajun seasoning and jalapeños)they have by far been the best we have ever eaten in all our trips here... It may be a bit of a wait but be patient its well worth it!!!
Oysters were great and the service was also. If you want really good oysters Hunts is the place to go 😀
Not a fancy tourist trap, just an authentic Florida oyster bar. Reasonable prices, fantastic oysters and seafood - and wonderful service. Love this place!
The raw oysters here were amazing! The baked oysters were great, and the fried combination platter was really good, as well. The service was fast and friendly, and the prices on their seafood were extremely reasonable.
Very good seafood. Small bustling business. Was able to get a table before the place got too crazy busy. Nice location too. :)
If you do not like loud music, do not go here. I liked it, different environment then Im use to but nice change! Food was good, not great. Very very busy....I mean people were elbow to elbow. People that worked there were very nice, helpful, and attended to our needs quickly.
Awesome little place. The shuckers definitely can out pace how quick you can eat oysters. All great folks. Definitely will be back on my next vacation.
Good food. Good price. Great staff.
I’m in love🥰 couple weeks ago we visited Hunt’s on the recommendation of a stranger, I would kiss him if I could. It was cool, laid back friendly environment with amazing food and service. We felt like we were hanging with friends eating some of the best oysters 🦪 I’ve ever had. It was so good we went 2 days back to back. Looking forward to going back in a couple of weeks when we visit PBC again.
Never ate raw oysters til this. The shuckers were great- at least ours was. Server however was very irritable to her co workers. Good food- had a tuna steak sandwich that was off the charts along with perfectly cooked fried okra. Was lucky enough to sit at the bar hence we had no wait to get in except to have the area cleaned. Generous portions of drinks and prices are very good considering. Tried 3 times to buy a tie dye t shirt but the hostess kept walking away from me so decided against it. Ended up with a hat instead. Given the history of bad service via other reviews & personal experience in Alabama, was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of our shucking gentleman. Kudos to him, wanted to tip just him but it ended up in the communal jar.
Best place we ate at all vacation, raw, steamed, and Cajun oysters were awesome!
Absolutely fantastic food! Totally worth the wait and everything was better than I expected! I had the Tuna and Shrimp. I ordered the tuna rare and it was perfectly seared on the outside and near raw in the middle, the way God intended! The fried shrimp was great too and the cheese grits were creamy and delicious! My only complaint would be the lack of cocktails (beer and wine only) and the dessert menu could have more selection.
Great place to eat. Love the employees singing/jammin to the music playing. Food and service were absolutely perfect. 💯
Theres a reason theyve been there 50 years. Its that good. Known for their oysters of course, but for those like myself who can no longer partake of them, the fried shrimp and grouper plate was amazing. Fastest, friendliest service we encountered on our entire vacation as well.
The best staff and food around PC. Its the best hole in the wall for many miles. Toasted bun and crispy oysters are a 10. Even the tomatoes on poboy tasted home grown.
Was advised by a friend of mine, that visits PBC often, to try this place. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. As I was sitting at the table waiting on our food, I heard the table next to me tell their waitress “A traveling friend of mine referred this place to us”. Lol They must hear that a lot.We had the oysters, fried crab claws (Which was a huge hit with my 5&8 year old granddaughters) and the fried shrimp and scallops. All was great. AND SOME OF THE BEST SWEET TEA I’VE EVER HAD, STRONG AND SWEET!I’m glad this place didn’t disappoint either one of us.
Best Oysters Ive had in a long time. Price was super affordable. Food was amazing and the staff was very attentive and pleasant. We loved it here.
Absolutely the best seafood restaurant Ive ate at with great prices to top it off. They have their own seasoning which is the perfect blend. The crab legs were delicious. Fast and friendly service. Even a lil bar outside serving cold beer while you wait for your table.. Planning another trip down here just to eat at this place 😋🥰
We were nervous when we heard Hunts was sold to new owners, but after 5 trips since the transition, we now concur that the food is even better than before! Always the freshest oysters and best shockers in town. Try the crab bisque, fish tacos, or the fried flounder in season. Their grilled fish is excellent, too. Worth the wait! Now they even have a bar outside so you can have a beer while waiting for a table. Still one of our favorites in Panama City!
The oysters were the best we had on our entire trip - maybe even ever! Our meals were super tasty too. Would definitely come back!
This is clearly the best restaurant on the Emerald Coast. Go hungry and order some of everything! You feel not be disappointed.
I am not one to leave reviews for most places, but Hunt’s Oyster Bar deserves one. Quaint dive setting, good service and outstanding food. The grilled mahi-mahi was legitimately the best piece of fish I’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly seared and perfectly cooked throughout. Oysters were good, too, obviously.
Great local spot with good food and friendly staff. The wait can be pretty long so be prepared. The small bar and tables dont allow many people to be inside at once but the porch is a comfy waiting area. I had the fish tacos this trip and they were very good!
This was our first time to Hunts, went on Friday 6/11 for dinner and then again the next day for lunch. The oysters and seafood platter was amazing and then on Saturday we had 2 dozen oysters. We also had the grouper cheeks, amazing!! This will definitely be my first stop whenever I am in town. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable about their work and the history of the restuarant. Good job Hunts Oyster Bar!!
This place was awesome! Its in a small, older building. There arent many tables or much room in this place but the food and atmosphere was amazing! Sure there were larger, nicer, newer places across the street but this little gem was well worth the long wait to get in. I have been to Panama City many times over the years and Im disappointed i just now found this place. It will definitely be a must visit on future trips.
I personally do not like seafood & came b/c of the group I am with. I am writing this review on their opinions. Apparently this us the best of the best oysters & my friend got them baked. Crowds come very early & waits can be very long ( FYI..plan ahead & come early). It is a very crowded & loud music noisy place. There is only 1 stall bathrooms for the entire restaurant & waits are long for the restrooms.
Always an amazing place to eat. We got there about 4:30 and the wait was about 30 minutes. We took time to drive over to the marina and watch a few boats come and go and got to watch a charter show off an impressive catch for a 6 person trip. Once we were seated, we started off with a tuna dip (7 out of 10) and a dozen 3-cheese cajun jalapeño oysters with bacon (bacon was a little much for the oyster. With no bacon oysters were 9 out of 10) I typically get raw oysters too, but figured the dozen would set me up to eat my entire dinner. I opted for the grilled red snapper (8 out of 10) the first bite i would have said 9 or 10 out of 10, but as I ate more towards the center, the seasoning got thick. The topping toned it down some so it was still really good. Cheese grits (9 out of 10) were probably the best I have had so far down here. The baby bakers were good (6 out of 10). My brother had grouper throats and they were phenomenal (10 out of 10) breaded and seasoned perfect and the meat was so flavorful. Wife had fried shrimp but gave it a 5 out of 10. Overall, another great experience. Weve been here the last 9 or 10 years and its always been a great place to go.
Clean, friendly, and delicious. Ordered fried oysters, mahi mahi grilled sandwiches, and fried shrimp Po boy everything was cooked to perfection down to the bun itself.
Best and biggest oysters Ive ever had !!! So big you had to cut some in half even after being steamed...Went to pier 77 a few nights later and the fried oysters were the size of acorns and you got about 8 for 20.00
Food was really good but I personally dont care for the atmosphere and the long wait.
Oysters were good.Shrimp was rubberFried Grouper was flavorlessGreen beans needed saltCole slaw was room tempGrilled Grouper was flavorlessFries were coldWaitress was friendlyFelt super rushed to get out.Music way too loudBathrooms need cleaning. Place smelled of fish.
Amazing oysters! My husband and I really enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching them shuck. The peel and eat shrimp were great too. Very friendly staff too :) Love this place!
Quaint little Oyster bar that serves very good Red Snapper. Great atmosphere and service! Well be back our next trip to the PCB area.
Staff were great, everyone super friendly. Food was good and came relatively quick considering the crowd. Chairs were uncomfortable and you are packed in like sardines. I realize they are trying to fit as many people as possible, so you wait less to get a seat, but its tight!
Food was amazing! Even got everyone to try oysters. Wait was about 90 minutes for dinner at 6pm on Saturday night but glad to waited. BTW, restaurant across the street was almost completely empty and still told us the same time, tells you the people waiting for the small but packed restaurant were making the right decision.
Food was good, had grouper sandwiches. Price was great compared to other places. It is small and super busy. Got our food to go. We will go back.
Food was amazing!! Everyone was so nice! We will definitely be come back again and again!
A great local spot for locals and by locals but loved by the world over, so prepare to wait patiently for a table. Itll be worth it. Hope you make it. Cheers!
Small restaurant with great food. Servers and staff were very nice and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Although they were busy, they got us in quickly. It is definitely worth the wait. All 7 of us really liked what we ordered and would definitely return. Im a bit picky about ranch dip and theirs has to be one of my favorites. Would recommend this restaurant to others.
Place was busy, lots of tables of 6 or more. We were a table of 7. Food came very quickly and it was so incredible! Locals mixed with out of towners! Everyone was happy with their seafood selection. I was told the oysters were fresh and delicious. I can say the grilled shrimp and cheese grits will have me coming back for more! Highly recommended for seafood lovers!
This place is amazing. Oysters the best of the trip. We WILL return.
Food and service was great. Just moved to the area and this restaurant was recommended by a utuber we watch from Miami, who used to live here. We will be back!
Food was phenomenal. Great service. All around very good experience.. Will be back.
Husband said oysters were great, cant say much for the shrimp and scallops ( scallops was the size of corn)
Great food and great crew. Short wait time, loved the fresh raw and baked cheese oysters. Not too pricey compare to restaurants by the beach. Well come back on our next visit.
Amazing first time experience. Server was pleasant and the bar attendant was very nice too. Can’t wait to go back for the oysters!!
First off, the fried Grouper in my wife’s seafood platter would have gotten 5-stars if on its own, but I have to list this overall as 4-stars because most of the oysters were tiny, and oysters are what most would likely be seeking when stumbling into this place. Even with placing two oysters onto a single cracker, they weren’t as large as single oysters at Hurricanes and other oyster bars along the Emerald Coast, and which equally as tasty. They were very good, just very small. That being said this is a GREAT local place, not a place created simply to attract tourist. The staff were terrific, and the digs were legit hometown, mom & pop, which still makes it worth going to for the feeling and real people around you.We will definitely be back, although next timeI’m getting the fried Grouper dinner! It was some of the best Grouper I’ve ever had, and that and raw oysters are two of my favorite seafood items.Again, there this place is absolutely worth it for the overall experience. It was packed with hard working class locals, so you know it’s good!
Delicious oysters and seafood. Cant go wrong coming here.
Always fun and tasty! Jukebox! Oysters Raw and Baked. Grouper and shrimp. Salad and beer. All the best of seafood and a fun environment!
Baked cheese oysters and grilled shrimp were delicious. Fried shrimp were salty while grilled (bay) scallops were tough and bland. Go early to avoid crowds as place is tiny.
Absolutely fabulous! Sat at the bar and visited with the shuckers - best meal ever... Dinner and a show!!!! Such great guys - very hospitable, always smiling! Great food, great value, outstanding music selection. Highly recommend! We will be back, this very week! Oysters fresh, shrimp great, cheesy grits TO DIE FOR!!!!
Hunts is a non-negotiable spot to visit when we are in town - always great service, fantastic oysters, and reasonable prices. Its the first thing we schedule when visiting my family.
Absolutely love the delicious fresh seafood here! Really good selection of quality seafood choices and a fast paced oyster bar all at very reasonable price. My only complaints would be the size of the establishment, small parking lot and always very busy and crowded dining room due to the pluses mentioned before. Very noisy, so much so that its hard to even converse with table mates. But food is top notch would love to see them have a place 3 times this size for amount of business they do.
Great place for oysters and seafood. Best local place in Pamama City.
Ufff I miss this restaurant sooo bad. My parents and I lived right down the street on w 13th street and I would walk here every weekend in my teen years to get food and a dozen raw oysters! Nw I live in Indianapolis and missing my seafood soooo bad! Planning on a vacation back to pc and stopping in for oysters with my husband. Great memories and wonderful food!!! Chicken fingers were always delicious.
Good Environment, busy at times so make sure u are prepared to wait a few minutesStaff if Cool, and food is on point
