Very surprising menu and great staff. Forgot to snap photos but I will be returning so Ill get photos then. Good spot.
Great authentic NY Bagels, boiled before baked. Variety to please all tastes. Has a comfy, home feeling.Staff is very attentive and helpful.Family business that makes you feel that your purchase is important.
Theyve definitely gone from hole in the wall, mom & pop operation to upscale, high end bagel shop. Their bread & butter is still variety of bagels, sure they added some new breakfast dishes, pastries and drinks. But everythings overpriced, ripoff and average tasting.
Food was excellent, but the menu was kind of confusing, probably error on our part for misreading it. We ended up spending thirty-five dollars for two bagel sandwiches and a muffin, which seems kind of overpriced. I would like to reiterate that the food was excellent, but maybe more in line with fancy brunch food than the quick bite we were hoping for. I recommend Bagel Express if youre craving a quality bagel and are willing to pay a premium for it, but maybe go somewhere else if youre on a budget.
Nothing special. Have had much better and better service.
Most legit bagels in the area. This is coming from a New Yorker. Bagels have a good crust with a sheen and nice chewy interior. Only thing I’d love to see is some kind of sun shade or umbrella for the mega hot sunny mornings we enjoy eating our bagels out front.
Thank you bagel express. I grew up in upstate NY eating bagel sandwiches. I was skeptical but I nearly died when I walked and and heard the skillet, knowing the egg sandwich is fresh and not microwaved. And the size of the cookies is crazy!!
Old school bagles. Very good fast service.
I went to this place today, there were two ladies working there, taking orders and preparing food also. They are understaffed, and place smells bad. They took order after ten minutes and then messed up my order, I asked for Honey Wheat everything bagel with egg and cheese. They gave me a plain bagel. Lady who took my order was rude, and food was not cooked well.Problem lies with owner, who is not there to watch what’s happening, very poor customer service and poor quality of food. I spent 8$ almost for a very lousy bagel with one egg and cheese. All the five Star reviews for this place are from owner AMD their friends, this place does not deserve five stars reviews from anyone. This place is horrible.Roger Mathews
Prices have recently been raised sky high, expect to pay $25 for a bagel and mediocre coffee. I had been coming here often, but can not justify paying ridiculous prices.
10 years or more I have been eating here and they never disappoint me!
I’ve been coming here since I was 6, maybe 7. The bagels are unmatched in the area, including Houston’s cult bagel spots. I brought a Bagel Express to my friend from NY after a heated discussion on Houston’s lack of a good bagel. He now drives from the north side of town to get bagels here.I read a review just now regarding the smell and laughed out loud... welllllll, this is a deli. Tuna, lox and fish salad are the specialities and at times, yeah it smells a little fishy 😂 but try the tuna and tell me it’s not fantastic.Keep up the great work! Missing the Rocket Bagel!Ashley
Dont know about their bagels but they have the best muffins you can find. Cant decide which we like like best so just get some of each.
Me and a buddy Went to get a bagel this morning and accidentally forgot a mask. While ordering the owner came up to me and told me “ to get the f out”. Very unprofessional and will never be back. Furthermore, if you read the negative reviews, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.
Good for buying bagels by the dozen, but everything else is hopelessly overpriced. No pricing up on the menu board is an instant red flag.
So good! Me and my family love these bagels they are always fresh
Update: adding stars from one to three because they now offer credit card payments and have improved their customer service. This business is stuck in the past. They do not accept credit or debit cards. Cash or check only! Wow!!! Get with the times people. Completely and totally unacceptable.Theodora the lady that works the counter is very cold and rude. She moves at a snails place. If this weren’t the only bagel place in the area I would never return. Ever. Customer service is non existent.
The owner is great !
Great bagels. Delicious food
I love Bagel Express. Ive been coming here at least 20 years. The bagel combo sandwich is the best! The bagel dogs are great too. Just dont forget to bring cash. They dont take cards.
The lady was polite but looked bothered by my questions. Wonder why they just can’t be patient with a first time customer.Need more help during busy times. Looked like they were struggling a bit.Wish it was a bit cleaner.Salmon with bagel was good. Coffee was out and hadn’t been replaced. Was replaced as I was leaving. Coffee not that great either. Also why don’t they use credit card machine. It’s rare that people carry cash nowadays. Too pricey for my taste won’t be coming back.
I just dont understand why Im seeing fruit flies everywhere even on the food in the display case. But all the items on the menu is great and the Nova Bagel is good though 🙄🤦🏽♀️
First time there it was nice.
I LOVE this place. We live 90 miles away, but always stop here when in town. Bagels are perfect, and the service is always top notch. But beware...CASH ONLY. Come prepared.
CASH ONLY.Old school New York style bagels. Very good, and great as a breakfast sandwich. They also do omelettes, lox, hash browns, etc. Its all very good. If you want something sweet, try the crumb coffee cake. Its insanely good.
To buy for quick bite after my run had Oyster Creek, did not get to sample any of the bagels…. join us in the future get a credit card machine its all the rage. Going to head to my neck of the woods where their error New York bagels and a credit card machine
My favorite bagel spot- terrible that they only accept cash. Once I wrote a check because I had no cash and had an extra slip for a job that needed it for a direct deposit. It was an interesting experience writing a check to Bagel Express.
Cash or check only...wow where are we in the Stone Age? When you can go to outdoor concerts, flea markets, small local arts festivals, etc and pay with a card, and this place runs a full time eatery and trying to save a .5c transaction cost or whatever it is. Sorry you just lost a potential customer, I had noticed this place driving by, I’m a big bagel fanatic, and decided to drive out there today for a good 20 minutes out of my way. I ordered a bagel and the cashier’s impolite response was “that’s it, just a bagel”. So I choose another bagel, and he says “that’s it?”. Mind you this is my first time visiting and he could probably tell as I’m looking around at the bagels and a bit lost as to what they offer. Then I see the sign, and I was shocked that they don’t take cards in this day and age, so I left, and won’t waste my time going back.
Went in for a quick bite, was told they dont accept cards....BUT they accepted cash and CHECKS...... *face palm*
Delicious NY style bagel shop, its a weekend staple for us. Cash only though, no CC.
Freshly made bagels great deli ingredients. Been coming here for years. Closest thing to New York bagel in the area. Please note cash only (keeps the price down)
Great bagels and they are finally set up for credit cards, apple pay, and Samsung pay. Now I dont have to go to the HEB across the street for cash first.😍
Mmm, bagels are always fresh and tasty. Veg, plain, and salmon cream cheese are the best imo. Love how the veggies are identifiable and still have texture. Staff is always pleasant and efficient. I wish they took cards for convenience but we make it work for fresh bagels.
Two displaced New Yorkers would still love to find a good Bialy in Sugar Land or Houston. Still, these bagels are like a taste of home.... they are the best weve had since moving from NY.
For starters, Bagel Express is cash only, a frustrating reality in 2017. I would love to be able to swipe my way into a dozen bagels, or at the very least adjust the prices so that I dont get any coins with my change; neither of these things are a reality. Two bagels with cream cheese will run you $5.95 after tax. However, Bagel Express makes up for it with very good bagels, not the best Ive had in Houston but certainly the best within a half-hour of my house.Bottom line: if youre in the Sugar Land area and craving a bagel (and have at least $10 cash on hand) then stop by, but I wouldnt go too far out of my way for this one.
Always good food, service is quick. Will be back to try more.
Great bagels. Love their breakfast plates. A nice amount of lox on the lox plate.
Fresh bagels and great NYC style deli sandwiches. Try the lox and cream cheese on a garlic bagel. It is a breakfast / lunch place, you do need to get there before 2pm to enjoy.
I visit at lunchtime and order a kids meal tuna sandwich, which is a half sandwich and cost 3.75. The young lady tells me that I can’t order a kids meal for myself. I then tell her I want a half tuna sandwich. She tells me they don’t have a half sandwich, meaning I would have to order a whole tuna sandwich which comes with a side, cole slaw or potato salad for 7.95. I don’t want a side nor do I want a whole sandwich. I want a half sandwich and a pickle. I order a pickle and leave. The pickles are amazing. I’m unsure why a small business such as bagel express will not accommodate their customers. They are not losing money by selling me a 3.75 kids meal and a pickle for 1.62. There is no expense of a drink or toy with the kids meal. I went to subway which is within walking distance and received the sandwich of my choosing.
I worked in a NY Bagel Shop, and this place does it right. Great bagels with all the proper fixings. Try a garlic bagel, toasted well, add chive cream cheese and THEN have melted cheese added to the top of this open face dream.
Good, freshly made food. We go often - kid loves the muffins; excellent hash brown, bagels and waffles
Best bagel shop in town by far. Ran by a real New Yorker. They use nothing but the highest quality meats and cheese. Hidden gem! Cash only
Good bagels! Owner is very nice
Best bagels in Sugar Land. Been a customer for over 15 years. Their bagels are airy on the inside. Good selection of flavors. We also enjoy their omelets.
Omg, this was an awesome find. Panera was running out of bagels so Yelp and found this place. Once I tried their bagels and my co workers commented how fresh and tasty it was this will be my go to from now on.
Delicious bagels, tasty lox. CASH / CHECK only.
Very delicious Nova bagel with chive cream cheese, also their jalapeño bagel is very good. Very good service for a little deli and the lady who took my order and cooked my food was a sweetheart. I definitely will return :)
Great bagels, deli foods. Homemade breakfast. Had Huevos Rancheros. Yummy!
Great place for a breakfast sandwich- the bagels are always fresh and they have dozens of choices. The place only accepts cash - no cards!
Meet two friends who got there first. Employee was sitting in back table eating. My friend sat at table behind them waiting on there order not knowing that it was employee and that due to covid the owner was doing take out only. ( other near places you can eat in.) Barry comes out and says YOU HAVE TO GO! Very rude, I even though he was kidding. Comes out again rude and tells us to leave, and other things. Barry the owner did not realize the full situation and had not reason to be Rude to us. I know the place is a good place but when you treat the people who have been supporting you for years like this??? Sad to see this happen.
Havent been in years. Thought Id check and see if I could order online. But, nope. I guess if you dont take cc, you dont do GrubHub either. What a shame. I miss those bagels
I am a little biased since I worked here in high school but hands down the best bagel in Texas. I have lived in Austin for 17 years and have never found a bagel like Bagel Express in Austin. I come here every time I make it to Sugar Land and it never disappoints!
Best crumb cake.... ever!
Ver good food I have been coming since long time ago...still very good food excellent service all very kind
Their bagels are the real deal. They are made like a bagel should be made. I just wish they took credit cards. I dont carry cash anymore and who even knows where their checkbook is.
Good place to go to
The bagels were decent but I cant justify giving this place 5 stars considering they dont take cards, CASH ONLY!!
Cash only, which is minus a star in my opinion. Good variety and deals on Bagels.
Having lived for ten years mere blocks away from H&H Bagels in NYC, the vaunted home of the best bagels in the city, I can tell you without question that Bagel Express makes a far superior bagel. Other than a small Bagel shop tucked away in a hidden corner of Penn Station that shut down years ago, nothing, NOTHING comes close to Bagel Express!!
I am originally from NJ and havent ever found bagels of this quality outside of the NJ/NY area before. A definite must have for people who love a good bagel or deli, and a must try for everyone else!
Did not enjoy at all sadly. Overpriced and bland cream cheese.
For as much as y’all charge for one breakfast wrap and for how rude your staff was to me, the least you could do was let me pay with my debit card. Never going back there again.
This place has the best bagels!
Good bagels, plenty selection
Good bagles but not as good as I remember
My wife, daughter and I visited for the first time today...it will NOT be the last. Very tasty bagels, I especially enjoyed the bagel, egg & sausage sandwich.
Owner is completely rude. I dont know how he stays in business with so much disregard for the customer. Go back to New York and be rude there.
Awesome bagel sandwiches
Fantastic bagels, very tasty cream cheeses...and, when youre hungry, try the Nova Lox plate (lox, eggs & onions). YUMMM!!
Always fresh, a delicious lox & bagel sandwich!
Certainly better than any of our supermarket bagels
Nice bagels and a nice atmosphere. The owner is nice.
One time they forgot to serve my dad and I food for 30 minutes and my dad got pissed off, so we got a $25 gift card. Great food though.
Fantastic bagels plus nice cafe. Live it!
Food was excellent! Met the owner who is from New York. Hes a hoot!!
Just got back from NY and craved a bagel. This place is overpriced. the quality of food was average.
Great food and service
A real NY bagel from one who knows
Love their Sandwiches and the boars head meat
Best bagels in Houston
Love their breakfast special
Good breakfast also
Beware, they dont accept credit cards. Quaint little deli, food is good but expensive for what you get. Not all of the kids meals come with chips as listed on the menu.
Love it.
Best place ever!
Good food, nice people.
Bagel was excellent. Pricing was a little confusing.
Only takes cash, poor service, messed up order multiple times
Best bagel in the city.
Needs to accept credit cards!
Best bagels ever!
Horrible service for the price
They only take check and cash! It was 12 bucks for a bagel and two coffees. When she said the price I just canceled my order and walked out. Its a bagel not a breakfast buffet
Yummu food
Bagels are on point!
