I really liked, I thought that it would be just another Italian restaurant, but I got surprised with the food. The place is very nice too and the service is kind and friendly. Definitely reservation is recommended for dinner. I want to come back to try the desserts because I think they should be really good.
Great spot in downtown Summit. The grilled little neck clam appetizer was fantastic. (Get bread for dipping). The Thursday night special was Mushroom Ravioli with truffle butter, and the salmon with vegetable risotto were both fantastic. Good cocktails and wine as well. Indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend
I love Summit, NJ and this place is very good right across form the train station. We sat outside, which was a treat on a warm Sept evening. The Salmon was excellent as was the service. We had a great time. For the price, one would hope that at least a side dish is included but none was so had to order a veggie separately! Not a big deal but nonetheless. Make reservation if you want an outdoor seat although they seem.to have quite a few tables outside.
Very Covid Friendly- Great staff (ask for Ian- he is a true gentleman that through the grace and skill he possesses makes his job look easy, when I know it is not). I loved my meal (Meatball appetizer to start, Cavatelli and Broccoli for me and Chicken Parm for my wife as an entree, and a limoncello marscipone cake for dessert). A great place that made our Saturday night fantastic.
The entire experience was beautiful. The food and drinks were amazing and my server Kyle was incredible. 💕
The best. We were exhausted and hungry coming back from a funeral, and they squeezed us in and got us fed 🙏🏻The hostess, waitress, and staff were all really wonderful, and the food was incredible; my partner and i nearly fought over the fried risotto balls.
Everything was great! Attentive waitstaff, diverse menu with standard trattoria fare along with more eclectic choices, nice ambience, and good wine.
Great fresh food bistro with an authentic Italian pizza oven. Everything is so good it let’s you forget for a quick second how corporate and unoriginal this chain is, while you ponder how little soul and passion conglomerates put into these designs and menus, underpaying workers and taking the power away from privately owned creative chef owners. Oh well.
Service is great. They always do the best to accommodate you. Meals are delicious as well. I always recommend them.
Chicken wings tastes a bit too plain. Pastas and steaks are good. Kids love the desert.
The atmosphere and staff were great, based on just that, Id give it a 5/5. The issue is that the food is just plain terrible. The rabbit tastes like chicken, the chicken tastes like soy and lemon, and the steak is just bad. After several visits I can see that serving good food is just not their priority.
Good food and service nice setting with outside dinning. Bar area is big with large screen TVs and specialty cocktails 🍸
Only been here second time yesterday with my girlfriend. The first time was the week before with my family. Keep your Chef please?I know what great food is and this place serves really good Italian food. Usually, if it’s not good, we won’t finish our meal. Last week, my husband and my daughter - their plates were empty and so was mine ! Customer service was great on both times. I don’t mind giving 20% or more for tip when customer service is as excellent as this place.I was here last night with my neighbor. 9/19/21. My daughter ordered the duck, she said it’s ok but she was expecting more than ok. Service is always great here. I just hope next time when you do serve wine, you bring the bottle and pour it my glass and not bring a little jug or glass to transfer it to my wine glass. I actually had a headache when we were leaving after dinner and woke up with a headache too. Maybe I ordered a cheap wine? Lol
Nice ambience, courteous staff and good food!!
With all of the great reviews, I had high hopes for this establishment. We started with a pizza which was outstanding. Then went quickly downhill. The server seemed to forget about us for nearly 20 mins. What I am still trying to figure out is all of a sudden a second server came to the table with two alcoholic drinks that were not requested since the server was no where to be found and service seemed confused when we questioned it. The entrees came out and both were disappointments. I had the chicken parm which looked great but the pasta was undercooked and the sauce was definitely jarred (Ragu). The chicken was edible but not up to the $20 price tag The cavatelli and broccoli rabe was extremely salty and low quality. Overall this was a disappointing experience I would not recommend this establishment.
Excellent customer service! Well taken care of. Pizza was top notch (pistachio).
Came here instead of our usual place The Office next door) because my friend is training for a marathon and wanted pasta (carbs). Pros: good pasta selection, although if you want quantity, order the spaghetti with meatballs and dont order the ravioli. My friends were definitely hungry when they finished. Cons: Beer selection is not great, but we sorta knew that coming in, since its more known for their wine. Dessert was ok, I think it was the deconstructed cannoli.
Nice wine and beer selections.Waiter was super knowledgeable and friendly. However, food took extremely long to prepare. That was the only con.
The food was good but unfortunately the service was stressful... hurrying us to order. And a message to Amanda, our waitress, even with a mask the customers know that you’re not smiling...make an effort.
Service was great, the food was only OK. A bit bland all around. The steak fries left a lot to be desired, the hanger steak was tough and no steak knives served.
Beautiful place, great food, good service. We love everything about this place.
Good food, outdoor seating, friendly staff.
This place was wonderful. The staff, the food, the ambience, everything was 100%. I had a WONDERFUL dish, and my boyfriend as well. It was absolutely delightful. If you’re considering coming here, PLEASE DO. It’s so worth it. Michael was our server and he was so great!!!!
Fabulous food and really great staff!!
For me and my family this is the best restaurant experience in Summit. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, the food, the ambiance and the value.
Steak is delicious! The little huts are surprisingly warm and the service is great
Great spot. We had a Caesar salad (split), the prociutto and arrugila pizza, and chicken parmesan. All of it was fantastic. Appropriate portions, great quality, and good service. Wine list was large, but not overwhelming, especially because it is presented on a tablet. Great spot for family, work, or business. Cant wait to go back.
Great. Highly recommended.
Excellent food and service
Not the best Italian Ive ever had but not the worst either. Service was good though.
Excellent. Wonderful service and delicious food!
Great service. Amazing food. A summit must
I was seated by David of the David and Bobo show. It was awesome. David rules.
In addition to their regular menu, this restaurant focuses on a different region of Italy every month. The vegetable sides are not to be missed. Standard Italian dishes are really great, especially the lasagna. The dessert menu is nothing special, in my opinion. The staff is very friendly.
Tasty food with great service!
We tried this restaurant last summer & it was great. Service, food, decor... everything was on great... so much so that when we finished our meals, we actually ordered items for take out before leaving. Unfortunately it was a very different experience on New Year Eve (& we had an early reservation-arriving @ 5:45p) 😖. Of the 4 courses we ordered, the only items we enjoyed was the littleneck app & the $90 glass of wine! The rabbit pasta dish ordered was flavorless... it appeared that no seasonings were used. Quite the opposite from when we ordered this same dish last summer. The tapas ordered was decent, however the meatballs tasted as though the were pre-prepped, placed in the freezer, pulled from the freezer & then cooked while not properly defrosted before being cooked! The meatballs were so hard that they couldnt be sliced through with your fork. We had to use our knifes to eat them. Each of us had a quarter of our meatballs because they were so unappealing. We were truly dissatisfied & disappointed which is sad considering the service & decor is appealing.
Very nice food and service. Moderate prices.
I actually liked their food and customer service, fantastic area very close to my house. The staff members are always super nice. Would recommend to others.
I went here for dinner with my parents this weekend. The food was amazing, presentation was on point, and the ambiance was great. Also shout out to our server Michael who was the BEST server I think I’ve ever had.
Food is good, place is really nice, service is HORRIBLE! might not come back because of it.
Delightful restaurant. Friendly and efficient staff, wonderful interior, quality food, quality service. I had the carrot and rice balls as the appetizer and piattino salad with salmon. So delicious! A must visit. You will love your experience.
Nice ambiance, good menu and bar. Everything was very tasty. We were there for Sunday brunch. Wed definitely go back.
Very good quality food. Some of their seasonal items are very creative and fun to try. Never disappoints.
Food was great but there is just not enough servers at this place. there is no way two can cover the whole room. it takes 20 minutes for someone to take your order, 30 more to bring it and 30 more to get the check
Terrible food
Amazing amazing amazing. Cannot compliment this place enough, from the ambiance, to the food, to the drinks, to the service. Waiters and waitresses are attentive and proactive. Drinks are delicious and made perfectly. Food was delicious as we ordered the mushroom pizza and chicken parm. Most importantly, the service: the hostess was able to accommodate our last minute reservation and the waiter was able to listen to our preferences and provide perfect recommendations. My wife and I had a FANTASTIC time and would highly recommend this place for all occasions!
We enjoy the food here. Ive had their shirt ribs, wonderful. The last visit, for me wasnt so good. Their meat sauce contains veal which I dont eat. Dont care for the flavor. I ended up throwing out the leftovers.
Friendly staff, great food, and heat lamps!
They accommodated us even though we didnt have a reservation. The staff is very nice and we liked the food a lot. Not surprised that the restaurant was full even though it is a Sunday night. Keep it up guys. Will definitely go back the next time we are in Summit.
Wonderful, elegant but friendly atmosphere. The town of Summit is so great to walk around and find gems like this. Most Italian restaurants dont have carbonara, let alone this good! Genuine. Everything was excellent. I have never paid $14 for a 3 oz. glass of good (not great ) wine before.
Great place. Good food. Happy hour until 7!!
Piattino is located in the heart of Summit. It is a restaurant that caters to those times you want to get away from the outside world and enjoy a meal that takes you there. The environment is beautiful as you are being treated as a Queen or King from the service; then the food arrives and your first bite makes you forget that you are in Summit NJ. The ice cream is fresh and delicious (I had the basil ice cream and it was amazing). The only negative is after you are done, you find yourself back in NJ. Piattino has made my top 5 places to visit on a regular basis.
We are from upstate New York and are flush with Italian Restaurants and pizzeria. Our mushroom pizza was one of the best we have ever had. And Rick P was great. Thank you
Great atmosphere, service and food were very good. Check their regional menu (changes every 7/8 weeks). Good wine selection and amazing deserts!
Worth a trip just for the Limoncello cheesecake and martini!!
Great food! Great service!
Wonderful food and service.
Great menu, delicious food. Very friendly staff and kid friendly. Place is beautifully decorated. Highly recommend.
Good service, decent food, lovely decor. One suggestion: please change the soap in the bathroom to something more subtle and not smelling like some cheap Dial antibacterial kind - bathrooms are very cool and stylish, and that soap just spoils everything. It might be a small thing, but details are very important in the restaurant business in my opinion.
Great bistro w a very nice atmosphere! I had the pork shoulder w pomegranate and fontina polenta. My husband has the chicken parmigiana and he said it was the best he ever tasted!
This place is great. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. The ambiance also relaxes me after a long day at work. Ask for Hugo, hes a great waiter.
Awesome atmosphere, nice outdoor patio and great food. Our waiter was also very good. No complaints. I never thought places like this could exist in NJ.
There is no shortage of Italian fare in this area, but this place has consistently good food and outstanding service.
Food was really good but portions were small
We love the ambiance, ...equally matched by the delicious meals, and warm & attentive serivce. Happy Hour nibbles were a delightful surprise!
I get what theyre trying to do. Put it this way, its generally a food wasteland in the burbs so, the extra star is just because its on a curve. Still I would go back. Because its a nice neighborhood option, good wine selection. And they really do try.
Atmosphere was nice and wine selection looks impressive, but food selections for brunch were unimpressive. Few uninspired choices, and their pizza was way too heavy-handed on the crust and cheese to taste breakfast toppings. I enjoy Pizza Vitas recipe better as it showcases the toppings and doesnt make you feel stuffed. Service is still getting its sea legs, and nobody told us cocktails were included with brunch and it wasnt on the printed menu, either, but Im seeing it now on the web site. I would come back if they expanded the menu to include more options a la Serafina in NYC - fresh and seasonal things, a meat-and-eggs brunch entree that wasnt swallowed in pizza crust, etc. But as it stands, this was just another boring Italian restaurant in north Jersey.
Ordered a specialty cocktail called BLVD of Bitter Dreams. The glass came with a vast sphere of ice in it to rival one of Saturn’s icy moons, thus ensuring a minimum of beverage in the glass. Sure enough, when I hoisted the berg out of the glass there was a vanishing amount of drink in it. At $12 for the drink, this translated into about $4 per sip, leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
Fresh and authentic Italian food, also love the decor and atmosphere
So great! Was there for lunch and the bartender was super friendly. Food was delicious. Id go back.
Excellent food and service!
Delicious food and excellent service! We had a lovely evening, and introduced some locals to the place - they said theyd definitely be back!
We love the bar here, drinks are great and the draft beers are excellent. Always seem to get the Funghi Pizza Other stuff is yummy too
Great food at a reasonable price. But very noisy and slow service.
Food was great. Busy atmosphere. Sat at the bar and ate appetizer and pizza. All great
The place is expansive. Entering the restaurant it seems like a smaller joint, yet it continues further back opening again with private rooms towards the rear. The shared kitchen withe The Office to the right allows them to serve booze allowing for a full experience. Owners and decorators did a fabulous job of make the awkwardly shaped spot comfortable. The waitstaff is always near and quick to refill a drink. However, the food was so subpar that everyone was let down. The meatballs in the meat ball and pasta dish were meteors, the funghi Pizza so covered in truffle oil it took away from the other ingredients. All in all this place does have the ability grow with time. I only hope my next visit will sway me differently as Piattino allows for both small intimate groups as well as large secluded ones.
The food was absolutely tasteless. The meatballs were so heavy and dense it was difficult to cut through. My son ordered the “Almalfi Seafood Pasta” and although there were 3 large shrimp and some clams, the pasta was bathing in a blend broth - mostly salt water. Lasagna was topped with a mountain of arugula... what??? The Margherita pizza was simply okay, nothing special about it. Food wise, it was a terrible experience. The staff was friendly and the restaurant is open and has a nice decor - but that does not make up for the bad food!
Decent food and good service. Parking is a big problem.
Beautiful restaurant, with incredible food. Proximity to the train makes it great for stopping by to get a negroni or one of their specialty cocktails.
Service was great and appetizers (risotto balls and meatballs) were great. Entrees were not good.
Service was really slowTook about 12 mins to get a beer lunch timeFood was ok
Great food, great service. Good for adults and kids.
