My favorite place in CNY to get service. I dont want to throw shade on anyone else in the area but Gorham Brothers are always able to get the same thing done faster for less. They also carry a bunch of EQD pedals and are a Reverend dealer. If youve never played a Reverend; you should go play a Reverend.

Recently had my EVH 5150 iii serviced by them. As soon as I walked inside they treated me wonderfully. I was welcomed, they immediately started working on my equipment, and within half an hour they told me what the issue was and repaired it. They told me a fuse had malfunction and replaced it for me. The repair was cheap but completed by professional employees. I will go back here again!!

I don’t usually leave google reviews because if I have a bad experience at an establishment, I typically just don’t go back. Today, on a whim I visited this store that all of my fellow musicians have been raving about. I was welcomed by two super pleasant gentleman, one of which, upon telling him that this was my first visit to their place, gave me a lay of the land and sent me on my journey through my new found sanctuary. I could have spent all day looking through all of the reasonably priced equipment they have in their store. After asking every question under the sun and getting solid, detailed answers from the fella who never once seemed bothered by my questions, I purchased a few odds and ends and we parted ways. My purpose for taking the time to write this review, is because the experience I got at this place was a one that restored my faith in the musical instrument retail stores in my area. I leave the big box retailer near me angry about the absolutely awful customer service and the outrageous prices that come with it. Today at Gorham brothers, they made a lifetime customer. Not only will I be returning, but I, too, will be preaching about how there isn’t a better place to go in the area and maybe even the state. What an awesome experience. Cheers, fellas!

They replaced the frets, which is not an easy job and set the action. Now plays better than new. Thank you Ryan and Bob for taking care of my guitar. If you love used gear, this is the place to repeatedly visit. They do everything from amp repair to setups to pickup installs. The best part is their used gear waitlist. If you have preferences for certain used gear and would like to be alerted when that gear is in the store, they will contact you asap. They also can make custom speaker cabinets and chassis for amps. These guys are huge fans of gear and extremely knowledgeable and very approachable. Highly recommend.

Stopped in to get the tubes tested in my amp; 20 minutes later the bad tube was identified, replaced, and I was on my way home. Love the fact I didnt have to drop my amp off, wait 3 days, and then drive all the way back to pick it up. Great service, I will be going back for sure.

Great Service! Brought in a P bass for set up, done when they promised and did an amazing job! They were extraordinarily patient with me trying to decide on strings, and they cleaned and polished everything as well. Never thought Id get this low action and the intonation is perfect. Id love to see them expand their selection to include percussion and keys.

The coolest and most helpful brothers we could ask for, Ive been buying from them and bring my gear here for repairs for a few years now and they always do great, inexpensive work. Well i was having an issue with my guitar and they helped a lot! It started buzzing (not fret buzz) and shaking. One night it lit up and started shaking violently and then it tramsformed! little did I know my guitar was a decepticon!! transformed! I brought it into gorham and they defeated this evil transformer and now my guitar plays great!

Great Store/Guitar Repair done by Ryan the guitar techDidnt have much time to look around but left a new 12 string acoustic there with Ryan to have nut slots filed lower(was ready the next day for pickup not 2 weeks like GC). Very accommodating, will return to Gorham Bros hopefully in future. Seems they have a lot of gear (electric guitars and amps etc) BTW the cost for filing the nut slots deeper $10.00!!Well worth the trip there, thank you!

Some of the nicest guys work this shop. They actually pay a fair price if you sell them used gear. They have really decent prices for a small shop. Yet they carry boutique high ticket items as well. They let you try instruments and they are very knowledgeable if you have questions. They are smart about selling their merchandise online too because that keeps them afloat. Genius. Lastly, they support local musicians by turning their shop into a venue at night! All of these things keep me going back and make me go out of my way to do business here.

One of the only truly great guitar shops in Upstate New York. The Guys that work there have such a clear love for every instrument that passes through the doors, and it shows. From fixing teens instruments for next to nothing to letting people jam out and demo gear for as long as they want, theres nowhere Id rather go than Gorham.

Super laid back, clean atmosphere with something interesting always playing on the stereo. The guys here know their stuff and seem to care more about doing a great job than they do about upselling or showing off how much they think they know (like in some local big box stores). Brought in a secondhand five string bass that was in very rough condition. Corroded frets on a grease stained fretboard, intonation all over the map, buggy tone controls, you get the idea. Four days later its like I have a brand new instrument! Service was quick, courteous, and high quality. Plus youre supporting an independent and locally owned business run by music lovers for music lovers. 10/10, cant recommend them enough!

This is hands down the music shop in the area. Lots of cool vintage gear, great used selection of guitars and equipment, and always a good selection of pedals thats all wired to a board so you can try out any combination to find your sound. Plus, all the owners are experienced musicians and will give you practical advice, not just try to sell you a $3,000 guitar!

Every purchase I have made here has left me very satisfied with the experience. The prices are fair, the advice is solid and the atmosphere is low pressure. It feels like you are walking into their living room studio when you go in to this store. You can try out stuff, get advice or just look around, I strongly recommend this store.

I bought a guitar there a few months ago. Straight shooters who explained everything (including why the guitar was such a great price - they have a lot of that style come into the store and price them to move). The zero pressure sales tactics were nice, they set me up on the amp with the effects pedals and let me play as long as I wanted to get the feel of the guitar - I had done the same thing a bunch of times before, bought nothing and they were cool with that. Great prices, knowledgeable friendly staff, local business - whats not to like?

Ive been playing guitar for twenty-plus years, and this is my favorite guitar shop that has existed in Central New York in that time. Tons of gear (and new things are always coming in, which is a big plus), and you can hang out and play anything you want without feeling pressured or like you are inconveniencing anyone. And since they are all musicians who have played hundreds of shows, and listen to a wide variety of music, they have a wide knowledge base of gear and how to get the sounds and equipment you want. I recommend this place to local and out-of-town friends all the time, and definitely recommend it to anyone out there looking for awesome new and used stuff, and some killer brands and products (Old Soul Cabinets, SHO Amps, ARC Effects, Jaded Mods,etc.) you cant find just anywhere.

Came in looking for a nut for my Mexican Fender Strat. Dudes knew exactly what I was looking for, ordered it, and it was received in very short fashion. While I browsed the shop, noticed that much of the gear leaned towards the amps and guitars with more character, aged and battle worn stuff. Theyre a music shop that cuts the fat. No filler here. Small shop with honest, knowledgeable musicians selling very good gear. If youre looking for gear that will lend itself to creating a sound of your own, this is the place to shop.

I needed someone to put a new pickup into my Taylor acoustic guitar. It became a complicated job due to difficulty removing the existing Taylor ES pickup. Guitar center quoted me over $200 and said I would need to wait 3 weeks for it to be done. I took it down the street to the guys at Gorham Brothers, they offered me some advice about how to get the job done. I went home, sanded down a piece of wood to the shape I needed to mount the new pickup. I took the guitar back to Gorham Brothers, they put it all together in an hour, and the guitar performs beautifully. Oh and it cost me $50 instead of $200. These guys are honest and want to work with you. They want your business and will do what they can to earn it.

Went there to get my amp repaired, said they couldn’t figure out what was wrong, so they had to send it away to their technician that handles the stuff that they don’t know how to fix (which is most amp repairs). After a couple of weeks I called to acquire about the status of my amp and their reply was “yes, we still have to send it out to get it repaired.” After not hearing from them for another two weeks, I called again and got the same response. That same week, when I had the chance, I stopped in to see if anything had changed and, of course, nothing had. I was pretty ticked off, but I kept my cool and calmly told the man that I needed it asap and that I wasn’t happy that nothing was happening. He responded with, “well, what do you want me to say?”As soon as I left, I called Nau Engineer on a recommendation from a friend and asked how long the wait would be to get it repaired, he said 20 minutes. So I took it to him and he fixed it right away without any problems because he knows what he is doing.After I paid the bench fee and waited over a month for them to basically hold my amp, I got the repair done in 20 minutes!!I’m sure they’re a fine music shop, but they don’t know how to fix amps. They took my money and wasted my timeDO NOT TAKE YOUR AMP TO GORHAM BROTHERS!
