East Asia Market has THE BEST ground pork and chicken Ive ever found in decades of shopping and cooking! Its freshly ground with excellent consistency; is not packed with copious amounts of excess water to raise the price or swimming in puddles of fatty water while cooking. Its low in fat but very tasty.
As usual I found pretty much what I wanted there theyre not a big place its a small Thor the only problem I had was to close down all the cashiers they only had one person checking and meanwhile it took about 20 minutes to get through the line the gentleman was fast friendly Im very easy to get along with and talk to but it was just him doing the work and I think they should have kept up more people going
So many wonderful products, it was hard to choose. Went for a specific coffee and ramen, left with a bag full of other things. Will definitely be back soon.
Parking was easy, got a spot right up front. Found the coffee and noodle I wanted quickly and easily. Proceeded to check-out...line was short and I was out of there in under 10 minutes total. Oh and they take google pay 👍
Finally an asian market i will visit as often as i can. They have good quality cookware that will work for anything you need from an asian perspective. I struggled finding a steamer big enough for siopao but found it here. Also found fresh jack fruit and durian. I have been looking for a good place to get that kind of produce for months. I will be back when ever i can!! I was very happy i could find everything i needed at glance!!
Ethnicity at my doorstep. Its straight forward and unpolished Asian culture. As large a selection of teas ☕🍵as Ive ever seen. And not only groceries were available. There is also kitchen ware, some hardware ethnic beers and wines etc.If your looking for a taste of Asian cultural East Asia Market is a good place to start.
It was great they have a variety of sea food and enjoyed there fresh crab. Low price cant beat that. I recommend to anyone who loves seafood .
Not a fancy store... But great produce
I just moved to Tacoma and was looking for a vietnamese market place. Happy i found this market.
Wide variety of noodles, soy sauce, and canned fruit (no guavas though). Dedicated shelf space for foods specific to certain Asian groups like Filipino, etc. It was a bit crowded, but thats exactly what I expect in an Asian store--its not supposed to be Safeway. I couldnt find mirin, but an employee was caring and diligent enough to hunt down the one kind they do carry. Also no miso, but its a Korean market, not Japanese. I was able to find most of what I was looking for even though I was unfamiliar with this store, being from out of town. If Im ever in that part of Tacoma again and in need of Asian food supplies, I will definitely be a return customer!
Do not buy old produce. Variety still good when low on meats [ popular store especially around holidays ] Try bone in beef roast. Good price. Great in slow cooker! 3 1/2 + stars.
I live in the neighbourhood and shop here at least 3x a week. Great seafood and Asian ingredients. They also have a Hispanic section which has some staples for Mexican cooking. Love this place.
Like this place they have squid clams live crabs nice produce good assortment of fish if you like to cook Chinese food this is a good store.
I LOVE this place and come every week...REALLY inexpensive All kinds of exotic fruit..kimchi..every kind of meat and everything cheap for my doggies to eat like bone marrow
Best place to go for veitnamese coffee and jasmine rice
Awesome store as always - been shopping there for 15 years. You can walk out of there with 30$ of veggies that you would pay twice as much for at Fred Meyer - 3 times more at the Met! Lots of stuff - Vietnamese, Some Korean & Chinese, some Mexican. Meats are good too, but some of the cuts are different than what you usually find in US stores!
In appearance it isnt impressive, however the produce and selection is more than decent. You will find many produce and products which you will have trouble finding in the usual supermarkets. I do recommend it, and also you do get good value for what you purchase. The cashiers are very kind, and I have not had a bad experience here. At times it may be hard to find what youre looking for, but the people who work here always guide me to the item I am searching for. Very good!
I came to the East Asia Market to buy 2 things, but walked out with 6 items. Therere a lot of options from well-prepared, freshly cooked meals to meat & fish and vegetables & spices. The grocery store is not as large as those in Seattle but it has the essentials that a normal grocery store carries. The parking is free. Id come here to shop again.
I wish I took pictures but it was my first time there and the first thing we saw was ants crawling on the actual fruit and the Thai chili that was packed had some sort of mold growing on it . I was super uncomfortable, it looked really dirty in there also . They need to step up their game and make sure everything that’s supposed to be refrigerated needs to be fresh . Not moldy or have bugs crawling on the produce .
If you feel like eating Asian food this is the place to buy your ingredients
Nice place bit expensive have lots of Asian food
Great variety of EVERYTHING!! Nice pricing & friendly employees! Highly recommend for produce as well!
Been going here a lot lately and the one thing Ive noticed is how painfully slow checkout is. I was rung up for almost 10 minutes today for around 20 items, and was sent home with 7 non-recycable bags and was told the store prefers using their own bags
Place has a lot of good Asian options. Definitely a good store to get those Asian items. Also has a catering service with Filipino foods offered and those have been great.
Great store but slightly wheelchair unfriendly. Hard for chair to move through the Isles.
Bad pre made sandwiches. Workers not polite and look VERY DIRTY AND FRESH FISH LOOK VERY OLD. I WALKED OUT WITHOUT SPENDING A DIME
Great selection of seafood and produce. Great prices. Fresh food
Good variety of food and the cashier was very kind and helpful. Unfortunately the produce was disgusting. There was a half squashed yellow onion that was covered in fruit flies. Id advise anyone shopping there to not buy any fresh food. The area near the seafood smelled quite horrible. If youre in the mood for something different to eat that is pre packaged then Id say this store is worth a try but if you want fresh food then definitely do not shop here.
Sooooo wonderful and patient with my young son. One of the workers stocking shelves gave him a quarter for the gumball machine, there was another worker who could tell I was lost in all the product (lol) and came over to help with recommendations. Then, when we went to check out the staff at the cash registers were so wonderful and friendly. Truly such a great experience and a gem for Tacoma!!
Love this store. They have everything I need
Great place to find Vietnamese products and people.
This place is awesome. Great unique products and not just groceries, they carry great sturdy quality kitchenware bowls, colanders, the knives they carry are seriously the best I’ve had. Friendly staff. Lines can be long but it’s because a lot of people shop here because it’s great.
It had everything I needed so I was fine
This is better and cleaner than Hong Kong market about a mile up the street. Veggies are very fresh and reasonably priced. Full array of basic Chinese/ vietnamese spice and sauces to make a novice look like a gourmet. Face mask enforced, which I like. Fresh seafood.
They carry many of the Thai brands Im familiar with at good prices.Decent deli items and produce that can be difficult to find at other grocery stores.
Jam packed with foods from all Asian countries cuisine styles! Large package items available for big families, restaurants or pantry stock prepping.
Good place to shop for Asian food and nice people
Great selection. Clean and organized with attentive customer service. When I shop here I always leave happy!
You could find everything here♡♡ good customer service
Always has a great selection and prices.
Good value. Good price.
The East Asia Market is the Best asian Market in Tacoma. Its a loy like the old country store when you were a kid but filled with amazing asian foods. The seafood selection, both fresh and frozen, is almost always amazing and there is an excellent selection of fresh herbs. Dont forget the Deli whete you can get fresh roasted duck, pig, Banh mi, or a number of other delicious dishes. Great store, highly recommend, I will shop here again!
Interesting store for an english speaking person to shop. Its fun, but without their having much English speaking staff on the floor, it is difficult to know what to purchase. Several of us would shop there more if there was ample assist in what the labels say, what to buy to make meals. We could patronize the store much more easily. Store looks dirty and is much like old warehouse shopping.
They have Filipino, Korean, Chinese, viet, and Thai products and they also have fresh seafoods, but their meat products are weird so I don’t buy from them.
Kinda dirty but staff always friendly
I would think they would have a better selection. I couldnt find any decent seaweed. Their fish could have been fresher. It looks like they have more than they do because they have a lot of the same thing .. if you want for example.. herring, or another small fish, they have a lot . No smelt.
Very good selection. Great prices.
One of the best supermarkets in Tacoma Washington. They have all fruits and products from Asia and Latin America! You dont need to suffer looking for your products all over town, you can go directly to this supermarket knowing for sure that you will find that, special item that you need !
Best place to get groceries for all your authentic cuisines!
Went for White Flower oil. No problem. Very courteous. Spoke very good English. Very nice people.
Convenient place for your daily Asian needs. However, I highly recommend buyers pay very close attention to what youre purchasing. Lets just say some of their red meats be looking brown sometimes!
Lots of great stuff. Some hard to find anywhere else..
Best place for jackfruit, noodles, golden fried tofu, and they carry an ok section of imported beers.
Located in the local Chinatown, this place has a pretty legitimate feel to it. Youre going to find all the ingredients for that special Chinese dinner. What youre not going to find are the glaring lights and immaculate tiles of the local supermarket, nor a uniformity of labels in English. You might need to know what youre looking for. The staff are very helpful, the prices low. General impression: this place is set up for the Asian immigrant and/or restaurant owner, not the suburban American soccer mom.
This place is decent but not the best Asian market to go to. I would definitely stick with the canned goods as some of the meet looks suspect. There is a smell when you go in and the shopping carts are not the cleanest. However you can definitely find some interesting things in there if your willing to look and experiment. Parking is ample and checkout was fast.
The place needs to have improvements in sanitation and a good customer service
Very friendly staff, great prices and selection
Ive yet to find a more complete selection of Asian staples in any store in western Washington short of going to the International district in Seattle. Prices are often better than supermarket chains. A destination shop for me that Im willing to cross the Narrows Bridge for.
Clean, well organized, very friendly staff, had everything I needed for Pho at a reasonable price.
Small place. Not very busy. My go to place for all asian related grocery supplies.
Fish suppose to be wrap. But, they let it sit out, even if its frozen, no wrap. Store needs to be updated and remodel, Needs to be clean.
On the non-smelly end of the Asian markets. Reliably carries complete selection of fresh ingredients. Westerners can expect a pleasant shipping experience, with no cash register ennui. Credit cards fine. Great gift ware section. Dont be afraid -- come get a great deal on ginger, garlic, basil, onions, shrimp....:)
Great prices and variety.
This is our go-to market for when we need to pick up stuff for various Asian meals we want to make. The store has quite a lot of tasty, hard to find things that other general markets just dont have. For instance, we wanted to try our hand at making some miso soup (not difficult, but needs some fairly specific ingredients). We were able to find kombu and bonito flakes, as well as a variety of miso. I also wanted to try gochujang, and was able to find it as well.Store is fairly clean, almost always has a full parking lot, and is almost always fully stocked. The missing star is due to organization. Definitely need to hunt for some items you would expect to be in a certain aisle (kombu, bonito flakes, would expect those to be with the other dried ingredients but theyre on the aisle with canned sauces and pastes).
Love to buy the cold Thai Tea drinks here. Yummy yummy. Also lots of other good things to get here...but not quite as big as H-Mart
This place is packed full of things that you will never find in a regular American grocery store. I come here for the spring roll wraps and lumpia wraps, but always walk out with a little more.
Been going here for over 5 years. Great selection of Asian cooking essentials. Prices are great, and at least half of what you would typically pay for anything that the grocery chains carry. They are also one of the only local places I have found that carries gluten free soy sauce. I always go on the weekend and have never experienced long waits.
Amazing warehouse-style import Asian grocery with the widest range of goods from the east Asian rim in Tacoma. Great meat deals are a daily thing, with fresh produce of all types available. Best Asian sauce selection in the south sound.
Good for Thai, Viet, Camb products.
This is the only place in town that I can find fresh bean sprouts anymore. Its also a good place to find a variety of flours for gluten-free baking. The store had everything I needed to make an excellent Pad Thai at a very reasonable price. The staff is kind and friendly, and most speak Vietnamese or Cambodian as well as at least basic English.
This is my favorite store. If youre into southeast Asian cooking they have pretty much everything you need, and if you dont like to cook they have a prepared food area with banh mi sandwiches, spring rolls, and all sorts of delicious things. Prices are amazingly competitive. The staff are friendly and helpful too.
If you enjoy Asia food this is a great place to buy your food and cook a nice candle light dinneryourself and another would enjoy
Excellent Asian market. Very clean. Well stocked. They even have calamansi juice in frozen packets. Many sauces and spices. Whole tamarind or prepared. Small and large taro roots. Coconut milk galore. Mexican dried peppers. Vietnamese lunch deli in store.
Very friendly staff and a great selection. I will be coming here for years to come. Love it.
Varieties of easy to find food stalls. Organized and clean beautifully displayed attracting everyone as soon as you enter the place! Thumbs up!!!
I love this place. Wide selections of Asian food products at a very reasonable price. Sometimes some of their fresh produce arent so fresh.
Great placePretty good selection
I love this place. Sort of like being in another country, the staff tries to help me find things I dont know how to pronounce or even what they are called. I am clueless as to what most of the items are, but I am learning. Veggies are always the freshest and best priced of anywhere around. Its an adventure.
Great customer service, fresh produce, a large selection of teas.
Went there to get my son some oysters for his birthday got a bag for 1999 and lo and behold there are three and a half dozen in that bag
Great for quick forgot something shopping. Great rice prices Good staff excellent steamers
Worth exploring and easily beats prices for same food in standard western markets.
Was pleasantly surprised with this market. They had quite a large selection of different things and a variety of many different items. They were priced fairly. I would recommend the store and go there again
First time stepping into such a store.
Nice place
Very large, well lit and nicely organized Asian market. Go there for an enjoyable browse. Prices are decent even if I dont fully understand what all the products are it how to use them.
Super cheap chicken! Everyone always give good recipe advice too. Affordable and friendly staff.
Great stop for ingredients I need when making Viet food. The produce isn’t incredible, you will have to carefully select the ones you want but they do have a good selection of fresh herbs. The meat selection is alright and the butcher staff isn’t very friendly, but if you don’t have to ask them for something that doesn’t appear to be on the shelves, you should be fine.
An Asian market that has great quality produce and food stuffs for a good price. Highly recommended for those who dont need the big box brand names and are looking for an authentic flavor to your home cooking. Also lots of great snacks and drinks.
Great place 🙏🇺🇸
Well stocked for specific cuisine ingredients and hard to find treats
Place is great coming from south Seattle. Makes me feel at home and the bahn mi is tasty too. Shelves look spare but I found everything I looked for.
My favorite Asia store in the area. The staff is always friendly and the meat and produce fresh. The lines can get a little long but worth it to me.
Wide variety of produce and alternative food items. A surprising find for vegans - if you look in the freezer section you will see find vegan seafood options, vegan kidney, and a wide variety of options not available in other mainstream supermarkets. Prices are fair to great.
