Phenomenal bike shop. Kelsey and Joey are true professionals at the peak of their craft. Communication throughout the wheel-building process was exemplary and you can tell that their attention to detail is present. I came all the way from Seattle to get new wheels for my bike and couldn’t ask for better folks to do it.

The first time I took my bike in was last year to ask about a bike fit. Kelsey and Joey volunteered free advice on how to first try my own adjustments. I appreciated this so much that I decided my next tune up was going to be with them. Not only was this tune up done quickly (within 2 days) but also was much less expensive than competitors. Moreover, they fixed what the other shop could not fix even after I had gone over with them what the issue was. Kelsey specifically asked and listened to what my annoying bike problems were and they are now history. Thank you!

I wouldnt take my road bike to any other person for tune up or repair. Joey and Kelsey run the business with amazing customer service, quality work and professionalism. The price is more than fair for the high quality work and attention to detail. Kelsey even calls with diagnosis and estimate prior to work being done! Thank you for keeping my bike safe and ready for the road!

Indigenous Wheel Co. is a great small locally owned business. The owner, Joey, was able fix my flat and get my bike back on the road in no time. He gave it a quick once over and asked if I was having any other issues besides the flat. Joey was quick and friendly. He even told me about local bike groups since Im newer to the area. They also have a sweet old shop dog to pet and give love to. Ill be coming back to Indigenous for other bike needs when they arise.

Kelsey & Joey are the BOMB.I moved here a year ago and passed by this shop 1,000 times with the thought whelp, thats one place Ill never need to visit. Then, I discovered the world of Mountain Biking in the beautiful pacific northwest. The Indigenous Wheel Co was the quickest turnaround for bike assembly and repair of all the shops in the area. The owners are so friendly, helpful and passionate about biking that when I slyly ask if its possible to rush the assembly or do it in pieces so I can ride during the weekend, Joey understood completely and made it happen.Pricing estimates are transparent, honest, and quick. I highly recommend and trust this shop with my bike (and future) bike purchases that they will likely help me to find.If you need bike recommendations based on your riding style, friends/local groups to ride with, locations to explore in the area, demo days, best places to practice a variety of riding, and 2 people to help you get extra motivated about the sport, this shop is the place to go!

Super friendly shop. I was in town visiting family, I went to a different shop to join in on their Saturday morning ride, only to learn that while they still posted the ride on the web site, it didnt really happen any more. The shop did mention there may be a ride at Indigenous Wheels. There was, however I arrived too late and missed. The shop owner took the time to go over a route with me, and sent it to my phone. I have a great ride out to Gig harbor and a little beyond. Two thumbs up!

I called this morning (Monday), not knowing they were closed. They answered and when I shared that I needed my double stroller tires fixed, he said the door’s open, I’d be happy to help! He was quick to find the issues, ordered me a new front tire, and carried it back out to the car! I am super impressed with his willingness to help this mama of four! I will definitely be passing on his information to all my friends and family!

Joey is an awesome person and does even more awesome work. I have had Joey build a wheel set for me as well as work on my multiple bike. Joey has never let me down, he has repaired significant damage and always been fair with his work. I will continue to use Indigenous Wheel Co for my wheel and bike needs, Joey is an important part of the community.

Joey has filled a void in the Tacoma area with a shop that encourages community involvement, camaraderie among all cyclists (regardless of discipline), and - most importantly- top quality parts and service. We have brought multiple challenges to him with our bikes and he has consistently exceeded our expectations, all while providing some of the friendliest and most honest customer service Ive experienced in a long time. If you have a bike, want a bike, or know someone with a bike, check out this shop and you will not be disappointed.

This shop is a great addition to the Tacoma bicycle community. No attitude, no judgement, just a friendly place to help you keep rolling. I especially like that they have the confidence in their service, knowledge, and support to tell you what you need and reconcile it with what you want. My bikes come back happier and more confident after staying the night or even just the afternoon with Joey. Which as you probably know, happy bikes make for happy riders!

Timely service, expert advice, quality products and willing to go out of his way to take care of the customer. Also, Joey rides bikes. He has years of industry experience to draw from and knows what he is doing. His shop also exists to be a place for the cycling community which has been awesome . He was more than happy to accommodate my hub preferences on his carbon wheel build and they turned out great. Very fair on price as well. Go see Joey! I have nothing bad to say about him except for how bad he beats me up hill climbs.

Shop owner Joey is top notch. Laid back but also professional, it’s a dream running a shop that provides quality service with a passion that’s in the details. He has a strong presence in all disciplines of local cycling team rides and races, so listen to his advice. The dog also likes salt so she’ll lick your glistening legs built up with sweat. He is well known to the cyclocross community from an infamous video if he’s ok. If you haven’t seen it by now, shame on you.

I needed a set of road bike wheels after bending up my Dura Ace wheels riding on a ocean pier dock. Dumb move, don’t do that. Friend of mine suggested I go see Joey, “he’ll take good care of you and he’s a nice guy”.When I got there he dropped what he was doing to come help me. After looking at the wheels, he gave me some options which I chose to buy new. He hooked me up with a set that are lighter than my Dura Ace, ride smooth and are very nice looking. I also went with tubeless tires.Once he got the new wheels and tires on my bike he also fixed a creak that was driving me crazy. On my first ride, one of the new tubeless tire’s blew out. I called Joey and he said come on in and I’ll take care of it. Which he did at no additional cost.Great experience. I highly recommend Joey and his company.Scott Wagar

I have purchased 3 wheels from Joey @ Indigenous Wheel Co this year (two cyclocross and 1 road). Joey is a pleasure to work with and was extremely helpful in helping me design the wheels I was looking for at a very competitive price. He is extremely knowledgeable and provides top-notch service. Having the ability to work directly with the wheelbuilder and customize the wheels the way I wanted is what sets Indigenous Wheel apart from other options out there.

I was in need of a wheel update for my cx racer. I had met IWC owner Joey at races in the past and reached out. IWC truly delivers a great experience from first comm thru sale. Joey was happy to apply his extensive expertise, patiently answering my questions and ensuring he put me on an appropriate wheelset for my needs. The wheelset is great, precisely what I was after, provided at a very fair price, and is holding up well to abuse. I recommend IWC without hesitation! Just dont ask him for advice on barrier running technique ha. Extra bonus the shop dog is a must-pet.

Joeys famous. Ask him why. Hes also great at customer service. Your bikes will be glad you heard about Indigenous Wheel Co. They will run better and make you (feel) faster. Ive worked with a few custom wheelbuilders and ridden many custom wheelsets. Joey is the only wheelbuilder Ive used more than once. Or twice. Or how many times now? Four at least. Hell also work with you on finding quality bargain parts or deluxe options, up to a full custom dream build. #joeysokay
