Great little coffee joint. Havent tried any adult beverages they serve. 4 stars and not 5 for burned espresso more than once.Edit- 1 year later: I wouldnt let the burned espresso stop me. I head back from time to time because they have either a 10 or 15% student discount if you show student ID.

Super disappointed in the staff and the experience. It was 4:02, and I I had no idea the store just closed. The barista came over, awkwardly, to tell my business partner and I that our time was up. I politely had asked him if we could have just 2 more minutes to finish up..He turned his back, and said sure with an attitude, and cranked the music. Now normally in this coffee shop its already hard to have a business meeting due to the loud music... but thats ok I expect that here... This was intentional.Insult to injury, the other two employees were laughing the whole time knowing exactly what HE (with his tie-dyed mask covering up a long beard) was doing.We finished our conversation in less than 2 minutes screeming at each other with our final remarks and called it a day... Sucks bc this was the first time we had met each other and I choose this meeting spot (embarrassing).Thanks Anthem for such a plesant experience! You have some real winners working for you 👍🏻

Bambinos has a really nice vibe inside, along with some seating outdoors when the weather is pleasant. It feels as if its a cross between a more upscale Italian restaurant and a laid back coffee shop. Service was friendly and our waitress was very attentive. She offered us bread with garlic for starters. I went with a sweet tea to drink and it was refreshing with just a touch of sweetness.

We were very happy to see that,vehicle complying with current safety requirements, that Anthems downtown Tacoma location had their seating area open! Also, always excellent coffee!

This place is fantastic! Their nitro cold brew is excellent, and full of caffeine!The ambiance is really nice, with a hipster vibe. The staff are also really friendly! There are two gender neutral bathrooms, that were in decent shape.The quality of the coffee is very high, and the prices are very reasonable. There is also the Tacoma waterfront nearby, and the free Tacoma link train is available for transit around downtown.Overall, 8/10 would highly recommend. Would come here again.

One of the oddest yet breast best milk and coffee you can ever drink. Location is a bit weird but thats hipster. Overall atmosphere is bright, not typical for a coffee joint. Love the hustle and bustle for a cup of Joe and some grooving background music. A must visit for the casual passerbyer.

Im a local street musician playing in the downtown area for over six years. Used to enjoy getting my coffee there every day. Just today I needed to use the restroom badly. It was locked. I asked the Barista if the bathroom required a key. He looked at me with distain and replyed The bathroom requires a Purchase . Anthem used to be cool, but no more. Im done. I think his demeanor was rude. Too bad,

I love this place so much! The dirty chai is my favorite, hot or cold. I took my parents here and they loved it very much. A great spot to sit and study, or chat with someone!

I’m kind of dumb when it comes to interacting at new places but the people working this morning were super friendly, my dirty chai came out perfect. This place will definitely become a more regular stop in my morning!!

Ive been to a couple of Anthem Coffee and Tea. They have amazing coffee! Also, their baristas are friendly and welcoming. Its a great place to hang out or meet up with a friend to catch up.

Dude, they have beer and its so delicious! Dont forget to try the cider before it sells out! I went there for my Fidel and Rachels wedding. Spectacular service plus great ambiance with an outdoor patio.

The server was very rude! She wouldn’t stop talking and flirting with a customer. She practically threw the cup lid at me when I wasn’t able to find it. “Here is the one that goes to that” and pushed it at me. Never going back there, you need to learn better customer service!

After going to Rome I have been searching for any espresso/coffee a fraction as good as what they serve in Europe. Anthem is the only espresso I have ever had this is on the same level as the Cafes in Europe. Its not even close.

Anthem is just a great coffee shop. The coffee is good the cold brew is great. The servers are usually some of the most friendly. There are 5 or so tap handles which is not bad for a coffee shop! There are good spots to work remotely. One thing that really sets Anthem apart is their community involvement. It seems like they are always doing something to support the art scene or make UW students feel at home. Surprisingly, this has quickly become one of the best music venues in town as well, consistently booking great local talent.

One of Tacomas greatest secrets. I have to say, best espresso team in Tacoma. I was raised in Seattle, and this coffee is amazing. So many places you have to order a mocha, not for the chocolate to cover the taste. This place... No sweetener, iced... Just pure taste.

This place is good if you want a nice coffee, but its more expensive compared to other coffee shops in Tacoma (understandable due to the downtown location). I am also of the opinion that the atmosphere/decoration is starting to feel a little bit dated as we approach 2020. I truly do enjoy this place though.

I was born and raised in Seattle, espresso being my lifes blood. There are only a couple places I go for the best coffee. I was sad to move to Tacoma until I happened upon Anthem. Hands down best coffee in Tacoma and I can only think of one place in Seattle that can match in quality. When I go to the competition, I have to order an iced mocha... the chocolate to mask the taste of their mediocre at best. Im talking about the big coffee chains that all make their espresso with an automatic machine... You know who Im referring to. Enjoy!!

This was some of the best coffee I had in Tacoma! The location is great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They also have a delicious sauce that is served with their breakfast sandwiches. Great atmosphere as well!

I just visited Tacoma for the first time and found Anthem my second day here. I always try to find local coffee shops when I travel because I love coffee and supporting local. I tried a few in Tacoma and was convinced that the city just had bad coffee lol! Then I found Anthem and fell in love. This was one of the best coffees I had ever had. I went out of my way to stop here again right before leaving town again because I couldnt stop thinking about how good it was!! Highly recommend!

The best coffee, hands down. And when I need a pick me up, their Vintage Baker pastries are perfect. Get the breakfast cookie, you wont regret it.

My favorite afternoon spot, I usually order a black and white mocha and then, when thats gone, I get a Powerhouse beer.The staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful. I stay for an average of 4 hours, writing or working, and often come with my husband. Its always clean, surprisingly.My favorite part about it is that no matter how crowded the place is, the atmosphere is always very relaxed, but... vibrant, I guess is the word? Its a very enjoyable place to spend time.They use Dillanos coffee, which is fantastic. Ive never had a bad drink here.

I love this place. They have you standard coffee,tea, & baked goods but, they also have a good local beer list lots of grab and go food options, and they give a discount to UW students staff and faculty as well as military personnel. Its ideally located next to everything so give it a try.

Ive never once not been impressed by the lovely service or wonderful coffee here. Ive even had the occasional wine or cider and its always delicious and so relaxing here. Perfect for studying, a coffee date and even a solo date to just read or get away. Cutest little setting, great music choices and I love that it feels like a homey place in downtown Tacoma.:)

This is a great place to stop in for a coffee and light bite. The staff is super friendly and the beverages are quality. Definitely a good meeting place for small group as well, just know it is popular with the college students when school is in session.

Im an older adult who popped into this cute place today. Metal, wood, (reused) decor, vaulted ceiling and best of all, a breakfast sandwich to beat Starbucks! Yes, its $1 more, but they DID have it to serve at 2 pm in the afternoon, and you get more than a $1s worth... its larger in size, generous portion of bacon, and the cibatta bun is sprinkled with seeds. I did have a latte, so I couldnt taste the coffee as well had it been just coffee. But if ever nearby again, Anthem has my business!

This store is located in wonderful downtown Tacoma. It’s a great place to stop by after (or between) classes at UW or after checking out one of the three museums within a block!The atmosphere here is wonderful and the views are pretty great!If you showing friends around the downtown area this a great place to start your adventure for the day.

The coffee was really good - a bit smoky without the bitter taste you get sometimes. Parking is a bit of a pain because its across the street. Oh, and Google Maps takes you to the wrong side of the building (the Museum) so dont let that mess you up.

Upon the closure of Cutters Point, this has become my coffee shop of choice. I find the coffee to be brewed strong, just to my tastes. The baristas are extremely courteous and engaging; each time I visit they are actively interested in my life and my day. It is not uncommon for their cordiality to turn a quick coffee run into a sustained conversation. I would encourage others to pay this local business a visit and enjoy the ambiance, the view, and the coffee.

I go here at least twice a week. It my favorite place to get coffee its not to watered down like Starbucks but not to better. Perfect t balance when you get the good people making your coffee

Was visiting the area for work and stumbled across Anthem at UWT. Definitely a good find. The staff was courteous and the Cold Brew hit the spot. Will definitely be back the next time I am in town.

Coffee is good. But the friendly staff must have been off today. Did not feel welcomed by the here at all. Came highly recommended, probably wont be back.

I like the atmosphere and the placement. It has large windows a little stage or a lot of seating. Great for studying and good coffee! Its a tad pricey but meh what isnt these days.

Anthem is a local coffee chain that also serves wine and beer. They have tasty snacks, free WiFi and a nice selection of food. The best part of Anthem is the friendly people!

The coffee was pretty decent but there may be issues with parking, as it is not readily available.

Good coffee turned negative by a condescending staff. My partner didnt say marbled cold brew in the right order and the barista made her repeat herself until she got it right. An additional smarmy HAVE A NICE DAY added to the insults.

It had a very rustic feel to it. The architecture around it was incredibly put together and each element and object was perfectly designed to be within balance. Overall very welcoming

Sister site to their Puyallup location. Offers similar offerings. Highly recommend trying the brown sugar latte - something not often found at coffee shops. The interior is open with extremely high ceilings and lots of lighting. Youd be hard pressed to find a better spot (indoors) to stop with a friend to catch up. A few pastry/food items to choose from as well.

Bitter and burnt coffee. I might as well have went to Starbucks. I mentioned it to the barista and got a blank stare. But maybe this is their coffee. If so, please don’t spend your money here for “signature” coffee. You’re better off stopping at an espresso stand.
