A huge shout out to Tacoma Scuba. On fathers day, I had a mishap on Spanaway lake. My tackle box containing ALL brand new gear. Including the box, along with my expensive cell phone, and new prescription reading glasses. Sank to the bottom of the lake. Along with my pole and reel. I made several attempts on my own to retrieve it, and hired a diver about a 6 weeks ago. He could not find it.So Wednesday the 19th, I made another attempt by posting a message on Tacoma Scuba site.Within one hour, I received a call from a diver named Alan. Myself and a coworker with a boat met Alan at the boat launch this morning. Two months to the day of loss.Alan was down for about 30 minutes, and came up with the box. My pole and reel was not an issue. Both were 20 plus years old.Thank you so much Tacoma Scuba, and Alan for helping me. 🤩 👍

My son in law rented some fins from them and accidentally lost one and had to pay the replacement cost for them. I have no problem with that. However they would not give him the other fin from the set that he paid for. That is in my opinion very cheap and unprofessional as he paid for the set and should have gotten the one he didnt lose back.

I dont usually do this but I really feel compelled to share my experience with everyone about this shop. I have been diving in this area for many years, since 1993. I have seen scuba shops come and go. In all those years of using dive shops I have never seen a shop as good as Tacoma Scuba. They are exceptionally good at customer and equipment service. They only carry quality dive gear. You will not see a low end piece of equipment in their store. That is important to me as scuba equipment is life support equipment. I have enjoyed joining in on their shop dives and having fun engaging in conversation just hanging out at the store. All around Tacoma Scuba has everything you need in a dive shop. From entry level beginner expertise on up to the advanced technical training and equipment. I use them because I know the job will get done right.

Very helpful shop. Also has a good amount of inventory. Folks have always been friendly there the few times i have popped in, and are willing to entertain questions from a fairly new diver, and bounce ideas back and forth.Solid folks and good service. Never really fealt pressured to buy, or pushed towards brands they carry vs other brands. Usually if i make the trip to Tacoma, i end up with some new idea of something to save up for and snaps or clips to set things up in an improved way.

These guys are top notch. I drive down from the north end, through Seattle, past 5 other shops to deal with Joshua and Kalen. Great products. Great service. Great shop. Check em out. They know there stuff.

Tacoma Scuba is THE place to go in the South Sound for diving. They shade on the technical side, but with that is the experience and professionalism of knowing diving - not just to get you certd and turn you loose! Joshua and Kalen take the time to get to know you and add you to the growing list of regular divers who come to their shop. Their experience in the GreatNW and of global dive spots make them adept at providing you with the gear and knowledge to make your diving better, more enjoyable, and mostly, more safe. They invest time in training, both for themselves and through suppliers and manufacturers and keep up-to-date on the latest gear and industry changes. So, if you want to explore the underwater world a little bit better, hang out with great people and new diving partners, give Tacoma Scuba a call. I guarantee you a thorough and complete experience with people who care and KNOW the business, the challenge, and the rewards of diving. They have all the classes you need to make your diving what youd like it to be, whether just recreational or into the more challenging aspects through advanced certifications.

I wont take my gear anywhere else but Tacoma Scuba. Honest, fair and friendly! They have created more than just a scuba shop, they have created a true scuba community complete with a club that meets regularly and shop BBQs during the summer. Give them a try, their knowledge, friendliness and community will be sure to pull you in!

First off I dont normally put down negative reviews. I get surveyed at my job and I know how that goes but here I feel Ive been given no choice. Almost a year ago I dropped 3k cash on equipment. Most of which they still have and I have my receipt in hand. A month or two before that I completed the basic open water course. I have now gone in 7 or 8 times asking about my equipment and my cert card from the course. Neither of which I have gotten a straight answer. Im always told they will figure it out and call me the next day. Not once have I gotten a call. I did 9 dives last summer with the people here and I really enjoyed it and liked everyone I met but the business side is garbage. At this point Ive been turned off from it all. I dont want the equipment or money, I just want everyone to know the experience I had conducting business at this shop. ✌

Hand downs the best dive shop on the Puget Sound since 2012. Theyre not perfect, but what dive shop is? Where they do it right is in the fills and the general care of your products. Ive used every other shop in the Puget Sound (no joke) at some point for work. The air is the best at Tacoma Scuba, as are the fill prices. Theres no reason to go to anyone else. Unless your gear is not from TS, use them.

The main problem with Tacoma Scuba is that they have set my expectations for gear selection, prices, training, equipment maintenance, and honest customer service unreasonably high. So much so that I am always frustrated when circumstances force me to do business at another shop. Joshua and Kalen, the owners, always seem genuinely interested in selling things they think would be best for my needs, not what brings in the bucks. Also, dont let the fact that they are Washingtons premier deep mixed gas diving center make you think they arent interested in divers at every level. I really valued the entry level training courses I took from them. This is a great place to enter the sport.

These guys rock. Not only do they have the best air setup in the PNW. They are two of the nicest people you will ever find. Did I mention they have the best drysuit prices I have ever found? They sold me a custom BARE suit for less then I could find it in a of the shelf size on the web. Both Aaron and Joshua both love diving and it shows when you talk to them. You can stop in to spend money or just chat and drink coffee and either way you feel welcome and part of the gang.

This review is long because I want to cover exactly why this shop is above average in my personal experience. I am a beginner diver, but have already experienced several different scuba stores in my journey. Shops where teaching was attempted in a noisy back room while the instructor was simultaneously distracted by servicing tanks. Shops where it was deemed appropriate to take a boat out into a tropical storm for a beginner Open Water certification dive, because profit trumped comfort/safety. Shops where customers are treated as just another customer instead of as personal individuals worthy of retaining. Im not saying theyve all been bad, but just that Ive become wary. So after having moved to this area, I knew what I did NOT want. I walked thru the doors of several shops around Puget Sound. For the most part, first impressions were more of the same cold, impersonal business. Including one where I literally walked up to the counter only to find the saleswoman was busy complaining to a friend over the phone about the stupidity of beginner divers, and I was made to wait until they finished their conversation. The difference walking in to Tacoma Scuba was night and day and ended my search on the spot. From the fun music playing on the radio to the fact that I got a high five at the end of that very first interaction ever, this shop has so much enthusiasm for the sport! Theyre overflowing with a willingness to share the fun. They host an abundance of social opportunities, especially during the summer, and seem genuinely interested in fostering laughter and comraderie. On an even more important note, Tacoma Scubas focus on safety has really shone throughout classroom content and casual conversations alike. Its a down-to-earth, very practical focus on safety.Lastly, I have to give kudos for amazing customer service skills. Theres great eye contact throughout the staff when listening and giving answers. Even dumb questions are handled with respect. I have been consistently treated with patience despite bad habits like interrupting, and have witnessed random customers breeze in and out thru the door not following instructions and yet being treated with an equally high level of customer service. This is honestly the only dive shop in the Tacoma area I would recommend to a friend. Thanks for being so awesome Tacoma Scuba! :) Keep it up!

Stopped in this morning to check out the shop while driving through the area. Great selection but unfortunately didnt find anything to pick up on this trip. Later in the day I got word about a situation that occurred up in Seattle. Found out that this shop was going to ban 2 guys for an activity that was 100% legal. Not how this country works. While I plan on headed up that way to do some diving, I wont be doing any business here anymore. I dont give businesses my business in which they dont get the whole story. You shouldnt either.
