Was treated rudely by staff member over my medical inability to wear a mask. Very unprofessional and I will not be shopping here again. I showed the employee my doctors note and he told me it was store policy, despite my having been in the store previously and this not being mentioned. Very rude and unhelpful. 0 of 10, do not recommend.
I had a very bad experience online. I came into Guitar Center Tacoma and as I waited my turn, Daniel Hope came up to me and asked if he could help. We went over to another counter and I explained to him what had happened and he rectified the situation. He was very knowledgeable, courteous, respectful and friendly. There were others who walked by and each one asked how I was and if I needed anything. From now on, I will do business at the store and if I see something online I will discuss in person. Thanks again Daniel, and the other staff members for a great experience!
I purchased a martin acoustic guitar here. They had only displayed one in stock which looked having been used for a while (they said it just came out from the box a week ago, but I dont trust it). So I requested to open the online order so that I can get a brand new one. They said ok then made an order. The guy making the order told me that I gotta wait for a week to get my guitar and after a week I grabbed it. The box was tapped and I felt like something weird. But once I got back home and opened the box, I right away realized it is the guitar displayed in their store. I remember what deficiencies it had and it has exactly same scratches. This store and guys working here literally cheat customers as they like. This is ridiculous and should have never happened. There is no reason I gotta wait one more week if I had to get this guitar anyway. So disappointed with this store. Never going to be back and I will let everyone know around me this thing happened and do not go this guitar center since we do not know when/how they cheat people.
Sarah jumped through a million hoops to accommodate me and I will forever be grateful! I was very nervous about having everything I needed in time for my first show post quarantine and she made it happen. Very cool, and very personable.
My Tacoma guitar center on 38th Street. Hector Sosa created me as a fantastic guitar player. I also get my guitar fixed with 21 guitar its hard to maintain in good condition. And he is Ron. I also buy collections so wIhen last built guitar or back order. Eric the main boss keeps me posted. Even trying to inform me on it asap on jerry cantrell guitar being built. So that is why I love guitar center. Especially the one in Tacoma on 38th Street. Hector Sosa made me be confident to play guitar.
I love going there to play the guitars and basses and the workers were cool dudes. A guy that a while back recognized me when I bought a squier bullet Stratocaster a while back and he showed me the Gibson guitar that he bought and sold most of his multi-skill guitars except one and that was an amazing experience.
Super dope environment always artistic creativity to be found here.
I like this place not only for shopping instruments but also it is always fun to test them before buying. I can spend hours there playing and exploring new stuff. Also they used to send me a lot of great deals and coupons with up to 20% discount but not anymore:( Thats why Im trying instruments here but buying them at Music & Arts since they have way better prices.
Got my husband an electric guitar for his birthday, we spent an hour or so there and enjoyed playing anything we wanted!
Amazing customer service! Kenny and Marco went above and beyond to help us.
Brought my guitar in for a set-up.Still have fret buzz and it falls out of tune.I think maybe he just put new strings on it and called it good.
No one really asked if we needed help they were very busy.
Awesome Lesson Department highly recommend it if you’re interested in learning music, Great Sales Staff, it’s the company I question.
These guys could some training. They act like glorified cashiers when they could be making every customers trip an experience while also making more money. I can see why guitar center is failing, it starts at the top.
Awesome closest guitar center to Olympia awesome place lots of guitars a lot of stuff people can want for All occasions of musical Wonder percussions keyboards drums vocals loaded yeah yeah Bass and ukulele clarinet violin percussion stuff music stands Mike stands I do handstands! Dont we have one in Olympia or Thurston county area but if you are in our neck of the woods and do need something music 6000 is completely respectable
Just have to give a shout out to Kevin for being super helpful and awesome!!! He went above and beyond!!! Thank you again- love this place its so much fun!!!
I’m so done with Guitar center. The last 3-4 used items I’ve had shipped is. Issuing items like power cords, wrong power cords, mislabeled items, couldn’t locate after purchasing etc. jut purchased a used Traktor Kontrol S4 mk2. Just realized it was the Mk1. I coul t year it out right away because they sent the wrong power cord. By the time I got the correct one I purchased myself and tested it it’s not being recognized by any computer. They won’t honor the return either. Buyer beware. I’m switching to Sweetwater or Chicago music exchange.
If you are stuck in the middle between Tacoma and Tukwilla, this is the one to go to. The Tacoma store keeps the guitars relatively dust free, and most of the instruments have all their knobs and switches in tact. The selection seems better when comparing the store with Tukwillas, which seems like its going out of business with how run down the guitars are there.Tacomas used section seems very active with decent prices too!
Great selection of guitars and basses. I find a fresh selection of used gear every time I visit, so if you see something you like, ya better get it!
Everyone is very nice. Easy to do trades and get your guitar fixed up. Ron does the electronics and setups, and he is a very knowledgeable and friendly guy. This is a really fun place to go for cool used stuff and the latest greatest gear from all the big names. I have been playing 25 years, and Guitar Center has been a go to for me for everything from strings to pedals to recording gear, guitars and more.
You need music gear? They pretty much got it covered.
The worker that helped me was extremely nice and helped me find an amazing starter guitar, i do not remember his name but he explained what was a good starter and good song to learn he was a great help and i definitely recommend that people go to guitar center in Tacoma
Always fun to see whats new at Guitar Center. Nice guitars, nice staff. I would try to have someone demonstrating different setups. Recording gear can be intimidating and complicated. I would probably buy more if I didnt feel like I needed a degree in rocket science to be able to record.
Dealt with Stephen in pro audio and he was great. He helped me understand what I needed and took into account what I was thinking.
Had a great interaction with an employee named Bryan, but otherwise its a pretty boilerplate Guitar Center. You should know what youre getting into by going here.
Hard to get employees to engage, not saying there all bad. Hipster factor is at a 9.5. I didnt know you had to tie a bandanna around your neck to play killer guitar, i guess image is more important than the art we strive for. Hot topic is located in any mall, get all the hipster merch there.
I take my drum lessons here this place is awesome
Employees are very friendly and helpful. They helped me pick out gear and gave a lot of helpful insights/tips.
Super helpful and did a great job helping me restring and tune my guitar it sounds so much better 😂
Theres really no where else to go if you want to physically view and touch an instrument before buying it. I dont say that with positive or negative connotations, it just is what it is. The employees are forced to try and upsell like any other business, but when youre most likely going to drop a couple hundred dollars easily its not welcomed. I also appreciate the employees honest advice about the lack of sound options on the electric piano I purchased, however, I would have saved time not having to return it if they had been honest about the sound quality at high levels (which no one wants to test out in the store and piss everyone off). Still, I dont purchase instruments anywhere else.
Great store needs more inventory if wants to keep the the local buying costumer.
Ron helped me with my Ibanez Acoustic Guitar and getting it set up. Very honest with me ... He did not charge as it didnt require his service after quick examination. Ended up getting a music stand, tuner, string winder as well. They only have digital metronomes, which is why Im giving only 4 stars (annoying beep). I prefer the tactile click of a mechanical metronome, so ordered one online!
I have been looking at guitars for awhile now. Got all set up with the leasing and got everything done on my end. Showed up for a guitar that they apparently sold while I was on the way and then I respectfully chose a different one, the guy complained the whole time about closing in 17 minutes and proceeded to raise his voice every minute complaining and cussing about having to do the lease with me. They had no intention of wanting to help the customers that were in there and when it came time for the lease it just fell through because he didn’t want to help me, I am very disappointed because I drove over an hour to get this guitar. I will now be going elsewhere for a guitar and hope I never have to come here again. Terrible experience.
A typical GC with a very depleted stock, probably due to the pandemic. They did have the 3/4 size guitar my wife wanted.
Super friendly service and they have all the cool instruments.
Im not one to leave bad reviews, but holy cow, what happened to this store?! 15-20 wait to get inside only to have none of the salesmen even acknowledge my existence. I was completely ready to drop $800 on a new guitar, but I guess my money is well spent elsewhere. Get your act together, Guitar Center!
I’m happy they are there when I need a last minute item that can’t wait for shipping. However, no one knows anything about their products. I never see the same employees from one day to the next which makes me concerned management. Also, I was told one thing about a return policy with the extended warranty by an employee and another thing by a manager. The manager told me I was crazy for thinking what their employee straight up told me. Don’t buy any of Guitar Center’s extended warranties. It’s a rip off and will fight you tooth and nail to not hold up their end of the warranty. Go directly through the manufacture’s warranty. Guitar Center is like the Walmart of sound gear, it’s best you do your own research on a product BEFORE going in. If you know what you’re doing on your own and know which product to get for what you need, at least Guitar Center is there.
Awesome place. Service is great. They have a huge selection of every type of musical instruments there is. The staff is very knowledgeable. They also have band rooms for lessons by college trained musicians. Check them out before you go anywhere else. They always have special sales.
Guitar Center staff are amazing, knowledgeable, friendly, courteous. Allowing customers plenty of room to browse and check out the broad array of merchandise available, without hovering or being in sales mode.Yet they are always busy nearby and available, if you have questions. The store is clean, inviting, just the right balance of lighting and ambiance, the displays are arranged such that they inspire even the novice to want to pick up and learn to play an instrument. Always have what I need in stock.A great experience.
Great music store and helpful people.
After a terrible experience with the Tukwila GC store, I went to this Tacoma store and had a great experience. Emoyees were nice, welcoming, and helpful. Only 4 stars because the only inventory available was the floor model. Would have preferred to get a new guitar if Im paying the new guitar price.
Great group of knowledgeable people. I experienced a significant problem - they listened and helped me find a solution. On top of providing great service, their prices are extremely good. The staff is friendly and helpful - both on the phone and in person. I highly recommend this location.
Friendly and helpful. Felt no pressure.
Walked in and asked for a product, salesman turned around and produced it. Then looked it up when we werent sure about the length. Excellent customer service 👏
Best guitar store in Washington!
Gear card ftw 🤟😤
The staff is very knowledgeable, especially Ron the repair guy, who has gone out of his way to not only make sure of customer satisfaction but has shown acts of kindness to confirm his passion for what he does buy even going as far as to call a customer out of the blue and let them know it was their guitars birthday! True story, my uncle had a guitar that was one of the first ones made, and a Ron did some work on it, and apparently did some research on it and was excited enough to share what he had learned!
Great selection. The covid 19 rules had me waiting in line for an hour though but not too bad. The staff scratched my car putting my equipment in it, I kind of blame myself for letting him load though, but it happened before I could react.
I havent visited in years. But I love this place. The vibe and the knowledge from the staff especially in the microphone area( I apologize for not naming this correctly) but his temperament with so many customers and follow through was impeccable. To describe him he was a white male with a beard very soft voice. I wish I would have asked him to test the mics out for me because I bet his vocals were amazing. To say the least this store I love and will definitely visit more often. Also the guitar area out front. He was awesome to. The guy in the drum area didnt seem to have as much passion but we all have off days. He was still very nice. I think I want to retrain my voice here!!
Terrible store with a terrible manager. Was told to bring my guitar in for a simple input jack fix. Kid adjusted incorrectly. When I got home it was broken, no signal. I called and was told they have to pay their tech and couldnt just fix their mistake. I fought that, and they told me to bring it in and talk to the manager Kenny.I went back in, waited outside in line for 45 minutes, and had someone tell me that Kenny wasnt there and nobody told me to come in!I came back the next day, and Kenny was incredibly confrontational and dismissive; said that nobody told me to come in, called me a liar, and told me to go see the tech. The tech was great, and my guitar is fixed, but jesus... worst customer service ever, and not a single sorry for that or willingness to take ownership of their mistake.Wont ever go here again.
Great place, great service
Great selection of fun toys and tools. I could spend all day here and easily drain the bank account.Looking through the vast used collection is always fun. I have found several gems doing this. The staff is always very helpful and informative. I have never had them be pushy at all. Just there to help if you need them.
I love going to guitar center...its the perfect musicians toy store...I only wish they would go back to making the guitars (higher end) more accessible. I used to be able to go in and play several high end guitars acoustic and electric...now it takes me twice as long to shop here and I am les likely to buy anything for several visits. However, its still my favorite guitar store.
Beau and staff are very friendly and professional. Thanks for taking care of me guys!
I went there to get a karaoke machine, but when I left... they hooked me up with something better. The employees were courteous. They saw me as soon as I came in the door. They said hi and welcome. They even gave me space so I could look around. When I finally asked for help, one of the guys from the front counter approached me and layed down all my options. I wanted a karaoke machine, but I left there with a speaker, a stand, and 3 microphones (buy one and 2 for free). He made me realized that I need something that would last longer and would save me money in the long run. Im home now and so far so good. The speaker is amazing and the microphones are so clear. Thanks guys... I really appreciate it.
Social distancing makes for long wait times but, once inside, the staff are always friendly and efficient.
Helpful staff all around. Im a beginner and Sam helped me pick out some accessories and a book of songs to help me along. The store features a large entry area with tons of electric guitars hung on the walls as well as separate rooms for acoustic guitars, percussion instruments (drums, etc.), and pianos as well as smaller rooms for lessons. They have a small section for brass instruments but it isnt their specialty; for many high school band type instruments, trumpets, flutes, etc Ted Brown down the road may be a better option but if youve seen it in a rock band, youll find it here.
Place is awesome good selection electric and acoustic guitars very helpful young lady associate helped me
I used to come visit here and guitar center all the time, and then for a moment it seemed like this store kind of was hitting the pots, and losing its magic. We used to go there just for fun me and my guitarist buddy, those were good days.So I was at Marlenes market and deli with a coffee and I found myself going back to guitar center for old-time sake. No one has told me when I picked up a guitar and plugged it into an amp and I was free to sit down at the drums and make some noise, and hang out in the acoustic guitar room.Everyone working there seemed to cool and there was no pressure which is what it was kind of like before. Id say it was like traveling back in time and I found that magic again. I even went back yesterday said it was still just as cool.
Do not support this company. Friend of mine just ordered Pioneer DD-JSZ for 1000$ and Guitar Center not only canceled his order after taking his money, but Is delaying the refund during a pandemic. Are you joking? Horrible customer service.
I shop here frequently and I have always had great customer service! Always willing to take the time to explain something to me or even help me find a good deal!
Unless you are looking for a 100 dollar Squire, this store really doesnt have a very good selection. Certainly nothing not much in the $1000 plus category. Which is why I had to order from the online store.I went into the store and applied for the 12 months no interest financing on a brand new 2500 dollar guitar. Got approved and placed the order. Turns out that the guy (who was really friendly and nice) forgot to get a photocopy of my photo ID so I had to go back to the store a couple days later. Now once he got the photo ID for the financing all taken care of the store did not send the photo ID to the credit company that Guitar Center uses, so my order still did not go through. Took about a week and a half to finally get this guitar ordered with no interest financing.I had the guitar shipped to the store because I dont want UPS to leave it on my porch. When it came in the store did not contact me to let me know it had arrived. I called a couple days after it had arrived to see what the status was and was told it had been there for a few days now. Awesome...At least the guitar is great and I got a really good price on it.
Helpful staff. I have yet to have a bad trip to GC.
Thank you, Pat!! My family comes here all the time. Some times, its just so my little one can test out the drums, other times, its so my husband can find just the part he needs for his guitars/amps. The customer service has always been fantastic and the manager, Pat, has always been patient and kind to our child with a disability. We will buy from here every time we have a need for anything musical.highly recommended!!
If you are looking for the the latest tech in music gear, guitar center is the only place to go.....
The covid 19 rules of social distancing made for a almost horrible wait in line outside the store, however, once inside, everything was great! Clean store, nice and friendly staff, and very prompt.
The people are great (that is why they are a 2 and not a 1) BUT the company is not so good. Normally I support local stores ONLY but in this current situation they are not open.
I called ahead looking for a spacific guitar amplifier. they had two left in stock and had no problems with holding one for me at the front desk. friendly and entertaining staff.
Its like I died and went to heaven
I visited this store a few times looking for a travel guitar before I made my final selection. Every time I went in the store someone personally addressed and assisted me. There was no pressure and it was a great experience each time. I finally made a purchase and had the guitar restrung and the employee who did the restring was awesome. Showed and explained the process in a very detailed manor. I would recommend this location to everyone. All the employees did a great job.
This my go-to for anything musical. Cool atmosphere with friendly employees and tons and tons of equipment for sale. New and pre-owned equipment is sold here. They also do repairs. I came here the other day and bought their own branded 24 ft guitar chord that was about half the price of a branded guitar chord. Great stuff.
Every one was friendly. The prices were absolutely amazing, and they had amazing coverage plans. All in all, I would definitely go there if I needed to get a new instrument.
Fantastic place, very helpful staff, compared to a lot of other places! Prices competitive with online! Its a fun store to hang out and buy stuff in and meet other music fanatics!
Very relaxed & welcoming atmosphere. Employees have good customer service & are engaging whether we purchase guitars or a few string packets or a guitar pickup. Great location too!
What can I say about it! Its a guitar center! It basically has every instrument you could ever want. You can literally spend hours trying out instruments. Decent staff.
After visiting MANY guitar centers on the east coast, i am shocked to see how small the store is. Maybe 5000 square feet. Orlando has never produced a paradigm shifting band before but the guitar centers are MASSIVE as are the inventory. The staff however are very personable and have decent input about subjects that are pertinent to being a sales position at a guitar shop. I was able to talk about trivial news in the guitar world, and they knew the subject material, so props for hiring people that actually care about their instruments and music in general....This is the saving grace for the store if you ask me.
Will in the drum center was awesome. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, you can tell he really enjoys his job. If I ever had my own business I would definitely want him on my team. Thanks Will
In being compliant with state rules, only limited people were allowed in at a time. Made the experience not fun.
Matt was very patient and extremely helpful allowing me to try out a variety of instruments. He was very knowledgeable and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. I had a great experience here. We will definitely be back.
Ashley was so sweet! I went in with no knowledge and she was so patient with me. if I am ever up north again I will be going to this location because of her customer service. the other fellas around were also very friendly. thanks for the help!! I am so happy with my purchase.
I put down a layaway on a guitar back in febuary and there website says there open but there not.i also have my money put into it and they wont let me pick it up because of some virus going around.i called recently and they said theyre only doing curbside pickup for people who placed down orders not for layaways.never buying an instrument at guitar center ever again after that.
Like the store a LOT but always have to wait to get checked out, ALWAYS very busy. But employees are really nice and helpful when you get one, and great cuz they give you discounts when available!! 😁
Great place and staff! I appreciate not being followed around like a criminal! Some places act like Im going to stick a whole drumkit in my pocket. I appreciate being treated like a human! Thanks
Got everything I needed! New strings and new effect pedal. Friendly staff. Easy to find the right gear for the sound I was looking for.
I just went to this store with a guitar to trade in, fully intending to buy a Road Series Martin Acoustic. The sales rep was more interested in telling me why my trade in sucked instead of selling me the guitar I wanted. Going online to buy my guitar now. Thanks, Amazon!!! Instead of getting arrogant gear-head savants to man (and it is all men there) the store, the Tacoma Guitar Center should focus on customer service and people skills.
Helpful and knowledgeable people.
They called me a creep a few years back after the security guard followed me around the entire store while I was deciding what I needed. I was going to buy a ton of stuff but walked straight out and will never shop at Guitar Center ever again after being a long time customer. Not to mention the uneducated Guitar sales people. Gross
Out of lots of gear and not enough sales people but they were trying and giving each customer the attention they needed.
I went in to check on some drum prices and decided to get my dream set the ddrum acoustic hybrid. Shawn worked with us for a long time making sure we got everything we needed. Best sales guy ever. I saved about 1100 dollars too. Ive always had good experience with guitar center but this was over the top. Thanks Shawn.
My visits to the guitar center are always pleasant. Today, I went for a saxophone reed and some info. They pointed me in the right direction and helped me make the right choice. The staff are always friendly and willing to help, so I feel any circumstance that brings you to guitar center will leave you feeling glad that you went.
Love this place, you can sit and play all the super awesome guitars on the wall. No one bothers you or watches over you. Only down fall is no Gibsons. Wanted to compare but I was happy with the Martin
Young man Kelvin took the time to help us and chose the perfect keyboard for our family. He actually played every board and explained the feel, sound, attributes of them. Kelvin, stay pleasant.
Decent service. Great selection. The online ordering could be improved but in-store they are on their game!
I went in there a little bit before quarantine really started and it was on the 13th. It was my birthday on March 9th. For years Ive wanted to play drums, but on February 27th, my dad brought my brother and I to a Korn concert in Portland, and seeing their drummer Ray Luzier really helped me make my choice, seeing him made me really wanna start playing drums. So on the 13th like I said, we went to guitar center and went to the drumming section of the store. While walking in there we were kindly greeted by another person who has inspired me to play the drums, and his name is Will. Everytime weve gone in there hes greeted us so nicely and hes a badass when it comes to him playing the drums! But long story short, if you ever need help in the drum section, get Will, hes honestly the nicest guy Ive ever met, Will, youre the best. I hope to see you soon 🤘🤘🤘
Came in for some strings for my acoustic and was about a buck off on cash. Dude gave me a discount so i could buy them. AWESOME! Deffinetly buying from these guys again!
I went to look for my first guitar. I love how they just let you play and are not down your neck trying to sell you. If you have questions they will respond. So I walked out purchasing my first guitar. They also have 45 day money back guarantee. So if you find something and its not right for you, you can take it back. The prices are right for a corporate music store.
