Nice setting for a urban hardware store. Much b bigger inside than it appears from outside. Good selection though they did not have the sponge mop brand in stock (on the shelf) that I had seen on-line, but got some other shopping done. I paid to park but I believe there is free parking in the rear.

Everybody in Takoma Park was thrilled when ACE hardware announced its store opening in Old Town. Ten years later ACE is still my favorite store. Theyve got great people. Yesterday I bought Exterior Latex Paint (sold out at our local Home Depot, I might add). When I got home, I discovered the green paint tint was too lime colored. So I called ACE. They told me to come back with a paint chip of the color I wanted to match, and they would use a paint spectrometer to identify the EXACT color tints so they could match the original paint color. Did I mention the original paint is 15 YEARS OLD??? ACE DID IT. ACE matched the paint tint precisely. Absolutely glorious. My mind is blown with joy. Their people are so helpful and innovative. ACE has got everything you could possibly want and REALLY, REALLY great staff. Now the paint job on my exterior porch comes with a happy story and a happy conclusion! Yaaaaaay ACE.

Old Takoma Ace Hardware store is fantastic store they have everything you could be looking for and the employees are very intelligent and helpful prices are moderate.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND RIDICULOUS!! called in advance to make a duplicate car key. When I got there I am standing literally less than a foot away from the person that makes the keys and hes telling me because of covid he cant program the car key because he would have to go into my car! I dont see the purpose in this when Im literally standing within a foot away from your face!! ...if I could be around you this close why cant you go into my car my empty car??!! We were both very MASKED up!

Went to pick up an online order. There were issues with the order that were out of the control of the store and the order was cancelled without me being aware of it, but the manager honored the order anyway with no hesitation or hassle. To me, this is a sign of great customer service. It would have been easy to point to company policy this or that and I would have left with a poor experience, but instead they put the customer first and I left a happy camper. Kudos.

Ive never gone in this store and not come out with what I needed. Theres always a lot of staff and they are, to a person, very helpful and knowledgeable. I live a lot closer to the Silver Spring Ace, but I almost always come to the TP store. Its not that the SS store is bad, its just that the Old Takoma store is great!

This has become my favorite hardware store in our area. The staff are friendly and helpful. The store is well stocked. The aisles are a bit tight for COVID-19 safety but everyone wears masks and tries to maintain distance. There is parking in back which helps given street congestion in Takoma Park.

Complete home store, from canning goods to wheelbarrows. I love this shop because its big enough to always have what i need but small enough that it doesnt take half a day to get in and out. The staff is amazing, they KNOW how to help you and they make sure you find exactly what you need.

Friendly staff, they dont hesitate to help. Store is clean, and organized. Been there bout 7 times (now) and I love the products. Got me a nice smokeless grill. Great variety of plants and tools plus they have cleaning supplies!!! Edit: 4/2/21 Andrea and Yorris were amazing today. I had to come twice because I couldnt get some screws off my bike. Andrea directed me to Yorris, who took care of all my tool inquiries. Still friendly, still helpful

Ole school store and very well stock. Did not have my product. Employees young and not very alert although friendly. Nothing worse than a smiling lazy employee. I think it was an hour before closing but these people were already closed.

I made a mistake and bought plexiglass from HD, which couldnt cut it. Aces friendly staff took care of me. Yes, I had to waive possible damages since I didnt buy there, but that was fair. They did a great job for a fair price. Ace staff knew what they were doing. The HD folk, by contrast, seemed ignorant about all things and tasks hardware other than guiding customers to aisles where to buy things.

The parking isnt great and the store layout can get confusing, but the staff is very helpful and they have just about any items you may need for your home projects.

Found what I needed but most hardware items locked to the shelves so bought item that wasnt exactly what I needed so didnt have to ask for assistance since there wasnt anyone available. The staff at this place must be European, I am Hispanic I picked two items I got to the register and the caucasian guy I cant take your cash, I have one the most popular pay card, Hispanic or Mexican however you call us have cash and credit cards people!

Great service and they carry some of the most beautiful indoor and outdoor plants. I recently purchased a snake plant from Aces and couldn’t be happier about how it looks. It’s full and brings so much life to our living room.

I have had a horrible experience trying to get a spare key made! Not only did u have to return to the store three times because the key they made didn’t match, but then during the third visit they finally ruined my original key! The staff needs better training on their own equipment or the store needs to stop offering the service. Thanks to this ordeal I was temporarily locked out of my home.I have tried repeatedly to support this local business but it’s not worth all the inconveniences. I recommend others go elsewhere.

Not helpful. I was in the Store for 30 minutes in the same place and nobody asked me if I needed help. Annie Ace hardware in Brookland is much more helpful.

This is the best Ace I’ve ever been to. I’ve been coming here for about 5 years. Every question no matter what is answered patiently. Anytime you arrive, you are greeted genuinely. Place is always clean and has just about everything you need to fix or repair things at your house. From filters for your HVAC to energy efficient light bulbs to getting keys made to new house paint to house plants, Ace has it. A much more inviting vibe than Home Depot and a much better reward card system.

Very nice. Everyone was very helpful. They had an over the door ironing board that I couldnt find anywhere else. Only problem was that I think it had been there a long time and the plastic pieces cracked but it is still usable.

Went in to get help finding a stain to match existing furniture I have, and was passed to two different employees; the person who was helping me didn’t help at all, and was suggesting stains that were obviously the wrong color, and made disparaging remarks about the brand of furniture I was trying to match. She walked off mid-conversation, I thought to get more help, but just disappeared. Really shocked at the poor service, as I’ve generally gotten really good help at Ace stores.

Reilly really took care of me, I came in with a unique locking dilemma and he researched and resolved my issue very quickly. It was not an on the shelf solution, he found the part by using on line tools and locking parts that could only be found by wanting to help and asking me the the right questions. Outstanding customer service!

I love this hardware store. Parking is terrible but there are a couple nearby lots including one behind the store. The store feels like it keeps going forever so theres lots more selection than you think there would be from the street. The employees are helpful and fairly knowledgeable about everything thats in the store. They also carry Benjamin Moore paint.

Great place. Really appreciate that it is there as an alternative to Home Depot. Always find what I need. The manager Eric is a really great guy. Parking has become difficult in that area because of all of the apartment development but they do have a lot in the back. I think you have to pay but thats what it boils down to as these neighborhoods become more gentrified. Anyway I like the place and Im glad its there.

This used to be my favorite hardware store. Id try to buy everything from them (instead of a big box store) because the staff was so knowledgeable and helpful. However, since the old store manager left (Eric, I think?) the service, reliability, and product knowledge of staff has really gone downhill. In the last several months you can barely get anyone to help you find stock, let alone answer a question. I really hope they get someone who can help the store get their act together because it really can be a local gem.

Ive been coming here for years. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable without hovering too much when youre browsing. Owner is a big supporter of community events and organizations. Theyve always been willing to order anything they dont carry if you tell them youd have a steady need for it. A nice selection of Takoma-themed t shirts is always on sale across from the paint mixing desk. Small nursery section outdoors. Dont miss the free parking out back, accessed from Westmoreland via a steep driveway.

What an amazing store! Ive seen other hardware stores and this one has superb family vibes and something for all ages. Their plant selection is also quite magnificent

My company had a tent in front of this Ace Hardware during the Takoma Park Street Festival. Plenty of friendly, helpful staff were around for the festival. They were so kind to let us (and everyone) use their restrooms throughout the day. I also noticed they had a fantastic array of products, probably the most versatile selection Ive seen in any Ace hardware!!

I love this place. People are always friendly and helpful, you can drop off batteries for recycling, and they have a fun/random section where I bought the coolest umbrella ever.

Very nice neighborhood hardware store. Locally owned. They have a really nice garden department with a good selection Spring-Summer. Usually have a good selection of house plants as well. Very nice plant pots and terraniums.They have surprising items one would not immediately associate with a hardware store. Its a good place to find little gifts. Even house warming and host/ess gifts.Friendly attentive staff. Key making. Big selection of every type of bolt, screw, nut, hook, what-not-mystery-thingy imaginable. Saved me a trip to IKEA. As advertised, helpful staff. The layout of the store is a bit odd but it seems to be fairly large for an urban location. They have a little bit of everything so you can find things like light bulbs, screws and a soccer ball here if you need to.

Cant get everything there, but their service is top notch. The staff answers questions and will help you with any project. Always good to support great local businesses that keep me from having to go to a big box store.

All are friendly but generally only 1 out of 5 staff are knowledgeable. Also when I go for something really specific I tend to get frustrated with their smaller selection but now I expect less, go only for the basics and know which associates to explain a question to. (Slim!)
