Purchased 1 pallet of St. Augustine Floratam Sod. Entire pallet looks unhealthy, dead, dying, soggy, and diseased. I called and they asked me to send pictures which I did at 1:11pm on a Saturday. I haven’t received a response. I guess because now they closed at 1pm. I believe they should respond to assist me on what to do. They are closed Sunday so now I have to wait even longer for help.

As a homeowner that takes care of my own yard, I am pleased to tell you that OB SOD is an awesome partner to work with to redo lawn and other landscaping. JOHNNY was excellent!! He helped with the plan and we have made multiple purchases from OB SOD. The first was the big one with redoing my backyard. The second was an add on with some stones to improve drainage and the look around shrubs at the end of my driveway. The third was to fill in some areas that were not up to par from the previous homeowner and to match JOHNNYs earlier work. And the last was this spring when we installed a pallet of sod in an area that had been cleaned up that was just brush and vines. My neighbor and his wife have told me on more than one occasion how great it looks. And I agree. JOHNNY coached me on what to do from start to finish. The quality of the sod and the right kind of sod have made all of my projects turn out well. I appreciate the help from OB SOD to turning my lawn and shrubs into the best yard in my small subdivision!!!

First of all, 400sq ft per pallet of Bahia is a total lie. More like 200-250 sq ft. I purchased 5 pallets after actually measuring the area I needed to cover and came up 3 pallets short. I work in the construction industry so am quite familiar with calculating square footage. Secondly, the 3 additional pallets that I had delivered Friday were basically half dead and came off the pallet in handfuls of mostly dead hay like grass rather than by the crumbly matts which had to be carefully removed and cradled like the initial 5 pallets. 8 pallets should have covered 3200 square feet, well it barely covered my new septic drain field measuring 42x25 and another small patch measuring 20x20. I would not recommend this company to anybody and suggest you look elsewhere to not only get what you are paying for but also a product that is not mostly dead.

Ob Sod was great to work with. We coordinated with three neighbors at once to get the street looking great. Johnny was great to work with, very organized and always responded quickly. He took extreme care of our currently sprinkler systems and helped set up the zones. He even went above and beyond when my hi-tech sprinkler devices when it lost wifi to ensure the the system was working. Ive reached out to him a few times to ask additional questions and hes still just as responsive even though the job is complete and paid up.

We had a great experience with OB Sod and working with Johnny specifically. A small section of the sod did not take and as promised they came back after 30 days and replaced it. No hassle at all to get them to do so. Lawn look so much better now!

I ordered a half a pallet of sod and 1 yard of mulch to be delivered. The mulch is acceptable. The sod had two or three rows of decent sod hiding the rest of the sod that was barely alive.I received the sod on Friday and put it down on Saturday morning. I called OB Sod on Monday and talked with a woman that told me I could exchange the bad pieces of sod if I pulled them up and returned them. I also talked to Jose and after a fairly long conversation Jose offered to replace the sod if I would pull it up and put it back on the pallet, or bring in a few pieces at a time. Jose did try to convince me that the sod was actually fresh and that what I was experiencing was normal.I am fortunate to have an excellent yard service and the man that takes care of my yard has close to 20 years experience. When he came out to apply the fungicide, he told me that the sod had been on the pallet for at least a week, but he suspects it was longer. However, he does believe that with extra care he can save most of the sod.As for the exchange of the sod by the piece or by the pallet it is a lot of additional work. This sod should never have been sold to me.I will never work with OB Sod again and do not recommend them.John AllemanResponse To Owner: The original sod sold to me by Ob Sod had an excessive number of weeds in it. Considering this and the possible damage to the sod that I had put down by removing and replacing sections I chose not to exchange the dead pieces of sod. I am allowing the dead sections of sod to grow in and if I need additional sod I will buy it from another supplier.

We ordered 2.5 bags of sand to be delivered to our home. The driver was very nice and took his time putting the bags where we wanted them set. The customer service was wonderful. She was patient while we made our decision and pricing was competitive. The return process of the bags was seamless.

If you want the ABSOLUTE BEST SOD with guaranteed customer satisfaction this is the place to GO!!! The employees were wiling to teach me about all sod even when I didnt know what to get or what I want. Very friendly service and guaranteed satisfaction. Will always and forever go here. THANK YOU!!!

Horrible customer service - employee had zero interest in helping after we called to make sure they had what we were looking for. He seemed more interested in rushing customers out instead of helping. We will gladly shop elsewhere and recommend anyone that asks to do the same.Response to owner - The bad customer service was at your store not over the phone, we came to the store after calling to make sure you had stock of what we needed and the employee working was rude and seemed less than interested in helping anyone so we ended up going elsewhere and was able to get what we were looking for. Either way not a valid excuse to treat customers poorly.

Best Sod in town. Always cut to proper size and harvested freshly. All St Augustine varieties are green on delivery and the pieces hold together well. Will call immediately if theres a problem with providing service and gets back on track quickly! Overall coming from a very busy Landscape Contractor who has been in the industry over 30 years, and has placed at least a hundred orders from them the last 2 years. They are really good :-)

Everyone at OB Sod has been wonderful. Everything delivered on time or early. Customer service is absolutely outstanding, and the sod was beautiful upon installation. Not looking forward to this first months water bill, but it has to be watered in order to maintain the beautiful quality. I highly recommend them to anyone. It was cut perfectly and fit together like a puzzle. No complaints at all. The price was excellent. Excellent company, highly recommended. I was having a hard time finding sod companies in my area since they all seem poorly rated. I went with OBSod and hoped for the best. Well they delivered. On the day of install, they had 4 separate guys come out at different times which is very efficient. One guy dropped the grass off, another team leveled the sod, a 3rd team installed the sod and they came by the next day and sprayed for insecticide.Like any living plant, follow their instructions to a T. I watered at 1am for 45mins each zone and didnt mow for 2-3 weeks. I cut my grass at the 2nd to highest height. Now its been roughly 2 months and the grass has set in. I had a couple dead patches spots but its ok because they were filled in with new grass. I have no complaints. My other company I was going to go with was A1 but they outsource their installer and he showed up 2 weeks late for a quote. The pictures prove just how nice their grass looks. When they delivered it, it was muck based and wasnt dry at all! They even helped move some extras to the backyard for me. I will definitely use them in the future! A+

The installers were friendly and helpful, and they arrived within the time frame expected. They worked efficiently and got the job done quickly. The sod (St Augustines Seville) looks great after initial install, but Ill update my review if there are any issues. My customer service rep Jose was also friendly, and he seemed very honest...he advised against getting sod in an area that probably wouldnt have lasted long. It wouldve been easy for him to sell me an unnecessary product, but he seems to sincerely care about whats best for the customer. I appreciate that very much. Great work guys!

Great experience. Obviously not a good time of year to order sod but I needed it so I placed an online order for 8 pallets. Johnny called me prior to the delivery to warn me that it would be more labor intensive to put down due to the dry weather. He even offered me the ability to cancel the order before it shipped. He did not have to do that. I went ahead with the order and was pleased with what I received. Not bad at all. Delivery driver was awesome as well. Quality customer service from a quality company.

I ordered 4 pallets of Saint Augustines palmetto this week and in the 1st few pieces there was a massive fire ant colony... got bit a bunch of times and I was wearing gloves and a long sleeve shirt. The last time I ordered from them the sod was infested with grubs, brown recluse, and several wolf spiders. I am done with them.

I went like 6 places shopping around for sod and these guys have the best inventory in Tampa Bay Area. Besides that no problem with getting a refund for half pallet I didn’t use. I highly recommend this place.

So disappointed. I really wanted to work this company. I set up a time for Johnny to meet me at my home after 1 PM. And I waited from 12:45 until 5pm. My cell record showed he called me at 12:11. He did not leave a message. I called the number three times from 12:30 until my arrival home at 12:45. My scheduled time was for after 1pm. I waited and called again at 1:30 and the office said he would call me asap. I finally reached out again at 4:45. Johnny said he was at my house at 1pm. But I was not there. I said that arrived home at 12:45. I pulled in my drive at 12:45. He continued saying my car was not there. I said it was at 12:45. I said I have phone records to show my calls. He said he called me at 1pm. He did not. He only called me at 12:11. He did not offer an apology or acknowledge that perhaps he arrived earlier then scheduled. That is ALL I would have liked and expected. Basically he was saying I was wrong. I am so disappointed. A phone call and a message would have been appreciate. My time is worth something as a customer. I work in the customer service field. Admit a mistake was made. Thats all, then we could have moved forward with business.

First off, I wanted to thank Oscar, for his prompt call this morning and to Jenni for their quick resolution of an issue we had. The true mark of a great company is how they respond when there is an issue and these guys were responsive and easy to work with.Their employees that did the sod installation were very friendly and did a clean job of installing everything. It looks very even and the sod was of good quality.The lawn looked great the same day they finished it. Better yet, we got hit with a huge rain the same night they wrapped up, and our new sod did a great job of helping with our erosion and runoff problems.Hector, who came out to our house and bid the job, was also very nice and easy to work with. He was great about taking my calls, even after hours or calling me back promptly if he was busy.He took the time on over 12 separate conversations via phone, text and in person to make sure that we had the right square footage and that he clearly understood what areas we wanted covered.He also worked with his team during the install to make sure that they raked everything even to give our lawn a nice grade to help with our water runoff issues.I am very glad that I chose OB Sod and will use them again in the future if I need to add more sod to other parts of our yard. We live on an acre and a half so chances are likely they will get more of my business.

This place has been around for decades!! That says something about a business! I remember this place when I was young. It was a very professional place. Still is. The workers there are always moving constantly working. The yard for the sod,gravel or anything else is well organized. They load your order up in minutes. I did a ton of research before choosing OB Sod. Turned out to be a great choice because in addition to the great service, they were the best price too.

We purchased Bahia grass largely because of the reviews this Company received. This is what happened: In total, we paid for 11 Pallets of Sod. We were told that each pallet would cover 400 sqft of my yard. That would mean 4,400 sqft. They finally came out and measured my entire back yard and it totaled approximately 3800 sqft. They additionally gave me one pallet to make up for bad grass that we received. This would make a total of 4,800 sqft or 1,000 sqft above and beyond what was needed. Unfortunately, we still are missing another pallet necessary to complete our yard. After the fact we were told that the type of grass we purchased had up to 20% of unusable sod. This was not on any of the contracts or paperwork we received. Even if this were true, that would have given us 3,840 sqft of grass, but it didnt. The bad or unusable amount was greater that 20% which is why we still need a pallet to complete our yard. Quite frankly, we really should receive the entire payment back for the poor product quality, the hassle, and all of the problems we incurred from this company. However, we are trying to be reasonable and are asking for the payment of one pallet back to compensate what what we need to buy another pallet from another sod company. - This Company is fighting us for payment of one pallet of sod. I would not do business again with them because the sod was bad and they did not tell us that 20% was unusable until we complained. Go anywhere else to buy sod, it wasnt worth the hassle and now they are fighting my credit card company for the one pallet. Bad business.

Great experience with Oscar and OB sod compared with other sod companies Ive dealt with in the past. Great price, quality installation, and the sod was A+. EVERY SINGLE PIECE they laid (of nearly 8 pallets) rooted, and is lush/green two months later. With prior sod jobs, Id always expect to replace a handful here and there.

We had our back yard done by this company and are VERY satisfied customers!!!! From start to finish, the process was so easy!!!!! We visited the company @ 930 E Busch Blvd, spoke to them directly about our needs. They were not into selling us the most expensive sod, but the sod that would best fit our needs (shade, sun, high traffic, dogs, etc.) - They came out and measured, scheduled our sod delivery. The installers (3) came out soon after the sod was delivered and worked incredibly hard and efficient!!!!!! Our backyard was dirt and weeds - they took the time to remove everything, level it out, haul away the weeds and then, laid the sod! They took the time to fit each piece in, like a puzzle! They cut a beautiful circle around a huge oak tree, which I had never requested! They really went the extra mile and took great pride in their work! They took the time around a back opening gate and also, around my special butterfly garden! The price was less than we expected and the work - INCREDIBLE!!!! We are very happy with the entire process - which was seemless! We highly recommend this company to others - they know grass - and they are professionals!!!!!

They have been very helpful and answered all my questions and gave me some great suggestions and the sod is set to be delivered today. So far I give them 5 stars. They have the best price on sod around that Ive found.I would like to update this post delivery and reading other peoples reviews.My new sod is beautiful. I had 1900sq ft of sod delivered and Every piece was perfect but for one rectangle that only needed some water. No weeds, not in one piece. Its all installed and its beautiful. I could not be more pleased. I do not understand the bad reviews and doubt them now.

Wont send someone out to measure area to be resodded. Quote based on public records instead. But we have a pool, deck, and landscaping areas that dont need to be covered with sod. Come on guys. If this is how hard you work to GET our business, how good will you be once you get it?

I had sod delivered. Half of 30+ pieces were brown. My neighbor had sod delivered from them that was beautiful. They told me I had to bring the bad sod to them for replacement. If I could pick up the sod I would not have had it delivered. They were not willing to help at all. I had laid this sod myself (I am a women) with my childrens help. The children were upset that they did all that hard work and it looks so bad.

I have placed and received two orders. Both were delivered the day they were scheduled (the day prior to install) and both were in pretty good shape. The sod was stacked on the pallets mostly well, but in all four pallets the middle section got sloppy. Sections tossed around haphazardly which slowed down the installation and beat up the sod unnecessarily. Since Im not sure if OB has anything to do with the cutting and stacking of the sod, I wont falt them for that. As the description reads Bahia sod (two of my pallets) is rough sod from pastureland. Ive thrown it before so I know how crappy it is. Just be sure you know what you are buying. Classic Saint Augustine was in good shape and all pallets had low counts of weeds.Ive place my third order for one more pallet today. Once down, all the sod was fine. About 5-10% loss on Bahia because the sod just falls apart. Ive always had this happen with Bahia.

I cant recommend OB sod lawn maintenance. I called them and explained grass needed fertilizer. I was assured next visit would be fertilized. Next visit came, no fertilizer. No phone call, no explanation. Maybe they will call when they see my review...

I ordered 1/2 a pallet of st Augustine and had someone pick it up for me in their van. When he arrived at my house 70% of the sod was crumbles and breaking as you picked it up and the other part was not same size squares and starting to yellow. I called OB sod and spoke with Jose and he said that as long as I brought it back ASAP they would exchange it. I picked up again the pieces I was able to lay and the rest of the crumbles and took it back. They were very friendly and helpful to exchange the sod. Because the sod was loaded by them, it was hard to see the condition of the squares. All I can say is make sure to check ALL the sod before buying to avoid what happened to me. But overall they offered a good customer service and fixed the problem. Thank you OB sod.

Horrible customer service I simply told the person on the phone my name and who I was with and they told me $219 a pallet. And I did not even tell them what kind of grass I was looking for at the time. Automatically jump to conclusions and horrible prices. And really really bad customer service. Heres $1,600 at least walking away from them right now. Will never use them

I bought too much Pine Bark mulch and they would not allow return of the 15 bags that were excess. It is clearly stated on the sales receipt that all sales are final, but I don’t understand why they have this policy. It is not a very customer friendly policy. I can see no returns on sod, but on bags of mulch? Now I’m stuck with mulch that I don’t need...Thanks OB Sod.

I had spoken with lady to call and check for best time to call for stock and delivery of pallet of sod. She suggested call in morning for stock and verification that delivery of pallet would be delivered. Next day I called and spoke to gentleman about confirming delivery to back thru gates thus less help and walking needed. It was confirmed Yes we can do that and we will also call ahead to make sure we are good. Family member across street, waiting for call to have pallet of sod delivered to are thru gates to save $$$$ on help and equipment. Called a 2nd time to see if delivered at now... 3:00 pm. NO not delivered yet, but DRIVER WILL CALL TO LET YOU KNOW HE IS ON WAY SO GATE WILL BE OPEN AND CUSTOMER WILL NOT have to make arrangements for additional help. Upon arrival at home 5:35 pm. NO CALL. BUT A PALLET OF SOD. No savings, no call and had to call in help with wheelbarrows to move sod which cost me just about as much as the pallet of Sod? Not really much to say at this point..... But Thank you

We had them put some sod in front and in our whole backyard. They were supposed to put shade sod in parts of the backyard but they didnt. We called them to come look and it took them over two weeks to replace parts of the dead sod. A lot was left and you would never know we had just resided the yard. Over $450 in water bills and had our whole sprinkler system reworked to be sure every inch of the yard was watered. I will post pictures separately.

It saddens me to see anything less than a 5-Star rating for this business. I personally own a successful landscape design-build firm in the Tampa area and have installed sod for many years. My company has purchased and installed sod from just about every sod vendor in the greater Tampa area. Sod is a very tough industry to be in. As most of us know, keeping sod healthy in central Florida is not an easy task. Consistently being able to deliver high quality sod is also a very challenging task, which is why less reputable businesses and fly by night folks selling sod off social media or for hire type websites tend to sell sod for so cheap...they are going to deliver and install sod materials that are below the industry standard or that are an old sod growth with lots of thatch in it (which will eventually lead to the young sod failing from fungus attack, etc). When it comes to sod...you really do get what you pay for. If price is all that matters...you will settle and pay for something that wont be correctly installed by professionals and ultimately will not last (and you may repeat the entire process one year later). Ultimately youve just made a horrible investment. Over the years we have grown to rely on Oscar Rodriguez and his team of professionals as our only consistent source for high quality and beautiful sod. Sure, there are seasons where sod doesnt look as fantastic as it does during prime sod season...but just like in your lawn..it will look that way when that season arrives. Although... I must admit...if Oscar brings it in for his fields...it always look great when compared to what other vendors are selling. For years we would have them deliver their product to our clients homes and we would install the sod. 6 months ago we decided to let the sod professionals do what they do best....it was one of the best business decisions I have ever made. They not only consistently deliver the highest quality of sod available anywhere in the southeast, they professionally install it, without cutting corners and taking short cuts to rapidly finish the install. Ive already made too long of a post, but if you are reading this and are a home owner or business owner....stop hunting and just know that you have found the right company. I dont receive any kick backs or business referrals from this company...so I have nothing to gain by writing this. As a matter of fact the only reason I was on this Google platform right now was because I was referring another one of our potential clients directly to their website/tele#...and I happened to notice the current rating. Customer service was so rude I couldnt believe it. The sod came infested with sod webworms. We ordered 12 pallets, thats $3k worth of sod. I asked the delivery guy about the moths flying around and he told me it was no big deal, if I had the treatment plan, the sod was guaranteed.Because they delayed delivery FOUR WEEKS (they said it was due to rain, but then delivered it 3 days into that little tropical storm we had) I didnt have a solid first treatment date.I called and emailed the day of delivery (I found out it was coming late the evening before) and was told someone would get back to me. Meanwhile these moths are EVERYWHERE. I sent an email letting them know I really need an appointment soon bc the sod they delivered was infested.A girl emailed me back and said it would be more than 2 wks before they could get here. I said fine, but the sod is still guaranteed right? She says well lets just hope nothing happens to it, bc its not guaranteed until our first treatment.I responded and let her know if I lose my $3k investment bc of their negligence, I will be suing for a refund as I have photos and email correspondence proving they delivered a faulty product.She responded that they are not going to come treat it, and were canceling the guarantee agreement to prevent liability on their part.Ive since had another company out to treat it, and theyve confirmed the sod was infested with webworms and fungus at delivery. Its still up in the air whether ill lose the sod or not. If youre still reading this, DO NOT use this company.

Dealing with OB Sod with my small order was a mistake, I should have just used a smaller company that cares about there customers. I was spoken to by the manager Oscar like I was a raging idiot. He promised me he would call me prior to the day of delivery to let me know if they would have the grass I ordered and payed for, on the morning of delivery (once I personally prepped my yard 6 weeks post-partum) and while my landscaping company was waiting they let me know the grass wasnt available. Not only was he unapologetic and almost offended I ask for ANYTHING off of my bill for their mistake but told me I was lying and that they never promised they would tell me what grass I was getting prior to delivery. He was rude rude rude. I cannot stress how put off I am by their lack of respect for small scale customers.

I had no clue about sod they helped me understand everything

Customer service is one of the worst experiences Ive had as a business owner. I call last week and was told the would have grass on a certain day & now that day has come the person lied to me about not having the grass. Not good business practice to lie to the customer, & very Rude .SMH

I ordered 2 pallets of Bahia grass but they sent me a Bahia Weed Dead grass. So I will never order from OB Sod Garden Center. This will be our first and last. I cant post until I click a star but its a no star to us.

Placed the sod in the middle of my yard where I needed to lay it. Sod is garbage it just falls apart when you pick it up.

Absolutely the worst, Spectrum came out and painted where my line was in the grass and these morons still cut my line, two days without cable Internet, with three young children, thanks guys

Received 3 pallets of sod, the material was green and without weeds. Some of the squares were broken but I guess thats to be expected.

Bought 6 palets of sob from OB SOD and ALL of the SOD was infested with SOD WEBWORMS lost everything with in 30 days a substantial amount of money they would not replace any of the SOD so I am writing this review buyer beware!!!!!!!

Bought sod for our backyard and it all died within a month. The gentleman on the phone said sorry its a live plant...no guarantee.
