Great store! All the regulars seem comfortable there, and their prices are fair. I hope they add more Dungeons and Dragons stuff, but I also understand they want to carry a diverse set of games!

Staff is knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Clear separation between the play area and retail product. Plenty of options and inventory to choose from. Play area looks inviting, simple to maintain and clean and available. Only shopped here so far but I may see about booking a table to play in the future.

The best, most welcoming shop I have EVER been to! Clean, well lit, large and varied inventory. The staff and owners are top notch, very friendly and helpful. The patrons are also fantastic and kind, warm and personable. I visited while on vacation and plan to return again when visiting the area. In fact, we visited this shop twice on the same trip! We had so much fun on the first visit we wanted to return before leaving to pick up a few other things to support the store. We chatted with one of the owners and found out they have a strong set of values which means a lot to me. They have made business decisions based on these values and it TRULY reflects in their shop. To explain a little more about my experience, as a woman I often walk into a game shop and receive one of two reactions- OMG ITS A GIRL must stare/I dont know what to do or what the heck is a girl doing in here, girls dont game. I received neither from ANYONE. Patrons outside were friendly, opened the door for us. Patrons inside were polite and conversational. Staff was so helpful and caring. If youre a gamer and have been to other stores you have experienced the gamer funk at least once. You wont face that issue here. I cannot say enough about this place and strongly urge you to give them a try. This to me is the gold standard for game shops.

Took my ten year old nephew to his first pokemon tournament here. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, great play space, 8 tables filled so plenty of ppl to play against. Good times, great place to game.

I’ve always wanted to go to a game shop and I never got the chance to but year later I came and got some magic booster packs as my first cards ever and I was fascinated by the environment. They are great and professional and love the environment. One thing I wished was they start having Standard Magic the Gathering tournaments because that would bring us magic players a little closer since this epidemic. It was also be great for new players like me trying to get started in standard. That’s the only thing I wished but overall this place is amazing 5/5!

As an out-of-towner, I cannot say whether or not The Game Store - formerly The Gaming Goat - represents what your Friendly Local Gaming Store experience is in the Chicago area.If it isnt, though, it should be.The aura of this place is palpable: its friendly, more so than many game stores Ive visited. On crutches, a gamer standing outside chatting with friends before a tournament stopped what he was doing to get the door for me. That right there amazed me enough, but the greatness had just begun.There are two sides to the store: one for gaming on tabletop, and one for actual shopping. The selection here is massive, and I found two board games to purchase (and several others that I desperately wanted) amongst the shelves, stocked as they were with a wide variety of games from your basic Ticket to Ride to more esoteric ones such as Brandon Sandersons Mistborn game.The gamers inside? Awesome. No gamer funk, and it looked like they respected the store a lot. Most had masks on in this Covid endgame, and none of them immediately popped as That Guy at the FLGS. The staff, though not always easily identified, were right there with their customers: no one waited long for service, and no one left frustrated.One of the owners checked us out. Super friendly dude, and I was happy to tell him I loved the place. It just felt right, and thats so important in an FLGS, especially with all the stereotypes AND with Covid winding down.Stop here for your gaming needs and look no further. This is one place to support amongst all others, and the next time I am in the area? Im coming back for more.

They are price gouging too much on products that eBay has way cheaper but regardless off their immoral practices they charge different prices to customers they know at retail and the Asian butter ball showed me that by charging my friend $30 for a kit deck and me $40 but there online for $20 I hope they stop being greedy and be a respectful establishment

I came to get Yugioh cards, and I ended up spending $15 dollars for only 2 cards.

Will change my review when they stop price gouging new Pokémon sets. Been a avid and supportive customer for a few years now. These past few months have really changed my view on how us customers are really appreciated. Basing msrp of product off of an inflated tcg website isnt right. Might look good on paper for your profits but it deters future business. 5% mark ups are tolerable, But 60% mark ups are disappointing and bad practice. I will go to the higher ups with my concern as the gaming goat is nationwide. Called a few stores and they kept msrp.

They recently remodeled the place and it looks good. They now have a separate gaming area and a bigger selection of games.

First time visiting this store today and the employee Michael was phenomenal in assisting us. His friend (who doesnt even work there) was also helping us in selecting Pokemon cards from a nice variety that they offer. Clean, open concept store, doesnt smell bad like similar stores do lol, and overall great staff. Will definitely be back.

I am blown away, I wish I wouldve known about the Goat much sooner! The prices are amazing, I cant find anything cheaper anywhere... but it goes beyond that, this isnt just a were super cheap store, they are super friendly, great atmosphere, answer as many questions as you have, and have genuine feedback to give on the majority of the games they have. If you live anywhere near, I would 100% recommend you stop on in.

Friendly atmosphere, owner Frank is really honest about what they do and dont do well and had a pretty good grasp on most of the items in the shop. Process are reasonable.

I can be a very indecisive and stressful buyer of product, and it annoys most other shops and clerks I buy from. Gaming Goat Tinley guys are very helpful and respectful, they dont rush me, and their owner knows how to organize buys and trades for me easily when I overthink everything going on around me. When I go there, despite my faults, I always feel welcome. They have the patience of saints and set a good standard for how hosts should treat their customers. Couldnt be more satisfied with the service I receive.

Andrew runs a wonderful shop with a variety of games, and a particularly wide selection of Magic the Gathering cards for all the major formats. Always a pleasure to sit down and play some EDH in the shop. He had this to say about his low prices: Id rather the cards be in my customers decks than on my shelves.

Their prices are better than any I can find on the internet. They have a wide variety of games, and can quickly order and stock anything Ive asked for. And the staff is knowledgeable and helpful about any of the games I have questions about. Im so glad there is a store near me!
