I called this shop a number of times over months and the recording always said the voicemail box was full so I couldnt leave a message. I also sent two emails to the listed email address on the website and never received a response. Why would I want to do business with a company like this? I dont. Im currently looking elsewhere for someone to stain a light colored chest of drawers but unfortunately, there doesnt seem to be anyone in the greater Toledo area to do this. I hate to pay to haul it up to the Detroit area, but at least a company I contacted there wants the business. Central Avenue Strip Shop obviously does not.

I am very impressed with this shop. They did a beautiful job on my furniture. I get compliments on my dinning room table all the time. The owner really took the time to give me exactly what I wanted and went above and beyond with great customer Service!! I highly recommend them!

This place is on the west side of Toledo Ohio. I travel all the way from Detroit to Toledo to have them strip some shutters I bought from American Architectural Salvage. They are definitely worth it! I checked a place in Ypsilanti, which is much closer, who couldnt give me a price but suggested the price of be well over $200 to strip the shutters. This place did it for $20 per shutter. truly more economical, even including gas. I will go there often.

My wife and i are very happy with the kitchen cabinets they refinished for us. Nice guys, trustworthy.

Awesome work and customer service

STAY AWAY from this place!!!!!!! BAD BAD gave them 8 sets of 6 panel pine bi fold doors to stain and varnish to match existing color gave great sample of finish. Couldnt get the color right and unable to get total coverage on wood of the stain. Cracked several doors with screws from mounting them for spraying. Doors have blemishes everywhere from runs to nicks in the wood, these where BRAND NEW doors and where not in this condition when I gave the doors to them. Go somewhere else even if more money or do it yourself.

Dan McKie, who is the one-man operator of the Strip Shop, is probably the least professional, least talented service worker Ive ever had the misfortune to deal with. I asked him to refinish 6 kitchen cherry wood cabinet doors, which were beginning to show their age. He said he would strip them down and refinish them to look exactly like the other unblemished cabinet doors in my kitchen. Weeks later when he finally brought the doors back I could tell immediately they looked worse than when I gave them to him. It looked like maybe he had applied some stain to them, but they showed no sign of having been stripped, and the dull and mottled finish definitely did not match my other cabinet doors. He pulled out a bottle of Old English furniture polish to show me how I could improve their appearance, and he sprayed it not only on the doors but oversprayed it also on the countertop appliances and the granite countertop. He then slathered the Old English using paper towels all over the doors, which only made them look greasy. I foolishly wrote him a check for most of the money he wanted to charge (he had me make it out in his name, rather than in the company name, which was yet another sign he was not being honest). Subsequently I contracted with another company to refinish the same doors. They did a superb job, even sending me photos of the cabinet doors being stripped and processed. The owner of this other company said there was no sign the Strip Shop had previously stripped my doors, and he said he couldnt even understand how the Strip Shop had made such a mess of them. I cant figure out whether Dan McKie of the Strip Shop is just incompetent or a shyster or both. I strongly recommend that he and his company be completely avoided.

Worst service. Spent a lot of money to have two chairs stripped and re-cained. Finger prints on the finish, undersides of the chairs werent done, and the cained backed of the chairs looks very unprofessionally done. Lines arent straight, staples are shown and glue marks. The chairs were actually in better condition before they went in to get repaired. When I called he said it would be two weeks, it turned into two months and the had to keep calling to find out what the status was.

What a great family owned business. Kind, and did a beautiful job on a vanity for my daughter.

Made appointment to come and see the kitchen to redo, but the guy never showed up or even called. He wasted my whole day. I heard bad things about him. But I wanted to give him a chance, and he proved his bad reputation himself. Would you hire him? There is no 0 star available for this guy.
