Beautiful store, really cool fall feel with their double doors open. Pumpkins and gords all about.

Really like that theyre trying to introduce more economical choices. Employees are helpful and store is always clean. Some supermarket chains are extremely big and exhausting for the elderly and disabled. Big y seems to be the perfect size and yet still has great variety. Keep up the good work!

I am Soooo excited I decided to stop in for cat food. I have done a radical diet change and have been having a hard time figuring out what to eat. When I walked into Big Y it was as if the store was designed for me. Everything I need is literally right there in the front. I love it so much and will definitely be shopping here for my dietary needs. Edit... I have gone on an organic vegan, gluten free diet.This store is so beautiful and clean..is it possible to be in love with a grocery store😊

I was shopping here with my friend, grabbing some lunch late in the afternoon on Monday, October 4th 2021. I want to say it was around 3-4 pm at time. It was pouring rain and we had a service dog with us. The dog was in a blanket because of the weather so the vest was covered at the time. We were just absolutely soaked from walking in the rain. We were in the store for approximately ten minutes, grabbing salad, sushi and a few beverages. We went to check out and the cashier was almost finished ringing us out and we were saying out loud what a good dog she is- of course being a trained service dog, she does not bark, move in any strange fashion or become an issue in any way. An older woman, I believe her name was Bobby, (short brown hair and glasses) came over to us and just started to absolutely yell at us and berate us, I had never been spoken to like that in my life. She was insisting we needed to leave- no problem, we were! We were checking out. Then she said it didnt matter we were checking out and paying for our 90$ in food, LEAVE NOW she yelled. We were frantically trying to grab our stuff and go. My friend ran out with the dog and I was just trying to grab the change and the food. It wasnt to me the issue that they do not allow service animals (or she thought it was a regular dog?) in the store, but that she yelled and berated us and spoke to us like that. No one deserves to be spoken to like that. I was absolutely mortified. Big Y, you should be ashamed that you have a person like this working for you.

Great produce! I love their bakery selection with nice rolls and cookies. One of the few grocery stores that isn’t setup to keep you inside longer, in and outs are super quick.

The Big Y in Tolland is significantly better than other Big Ys I have shopped at. The butcher is VERY good and the beer selection is significant. The staff are also always friendly!

You can find food here but I couldnt find the Big Y itself. Maybe it only appears after hours; if an employee could confirm or deny I would greatly appreciate it.

Not a bad store, only problem is the pricing is out of control, little bag of cookies $5 dollars, little bottle of detergent $5 dollars, seems pricing is not about the item but more about the price gouging cause they can ..I doubt things will ever change but I still keep tabs on whos for the people

Weve been frequent shoppers for +20 years. Since the pandemic, the Tolland Big Y has continued to disappoint us with availability of staple items and selection is more limited than normal and much more limited than surrounding Big Ys (Manchester for example). Never shopped in the Manchester Big Y in the past but have tried it several times since the pandemic and wow what a big difference in inventory compared to this store. Ive worked throughout the pandemic so Im frequently in after 5 PM and tonight the Tolland store chooses to close half their self checkout lanes early, why? Canned responses are not beneficial! Take the opportunity to learn what is working at other Big Y stores, review these observations and make changes to product ordering and department management to improve the shopping experience.

Not the cheapest groceries but, the meat and produce is always fresh. I recommend the pizza for parties as well as the giant grinders.

I shop here every week. If you like a manager escorting you out of a “one way aisle” whilst you have several illnesses that make it hard for you to even shop, this is the store for you. He was rude, works Friday nights, and on a power trip. Should be fired

Love Big Y. Clean and excellent produce and meats. All the people are very helpful if you need it.

This place has an extensive bakery area as well as pizza and sandwich station. Wide variety of groceries but more expensive than others like price chopper or stop n shop.

9/6/20 9:45 AM Tolland: I was at self checkout when an elderly woman asked the employee for a cleaning wipe to clean the register. The employee told the woman in a snooty tone of voice I cleaned this 10 minutes ago and its fine. The woman asked again and got the same exact response from the employee. Ridiculous service!! This woman was concerned about having to touch things and how she was treated was wrong. Also whats the big idea with the price hikes? I see we the customers are paying for your renovation hence why I paid $7.00 for grapes. Never again! Zero stars!

Staff is either very friendly or very rude. Either way they have amazing prices and lots of options.

Found what I needed and the produce was good

Inside the store is fine, my problem is with your bottle return. Sign out front in huge letters BOTTLE ROOM CLOSED small letters between 1:00 and 2:00, now there is a 5 second delay on the auto door sliding open, almost walked away. So you don’t want customers to return bottles? Stop selling the products with the deposit if it’s such a problem.

Absolutely fantastic, it’s the local grocery store around here so it’s always packed but they manage to get everyone through clean and easily, I also didn’t have enough to pay for everything and a bagger offered to pay the rest of my total. Very thankful

I always enjoy my experience when I am there. I find the staff to be friendly, helpful, and it reflects in the cleanliness and atmosphere of the store. The quality of the meats, produce and seafood is much better than the other grocery stores around. As a mom, the staff know me and my kids pretty well because we are there on a weekly basis shopping which involves either getting a cookie at the bakery or a slice of pizza while we shop. I even remember a time when my son was an infant and an employee was at the buggy return and saw me and offered to load the groceries into my car while I took care of getting the baby in the car. It might be a pricier at times, but honestly, I have no problem paying for a better overall experience.

Tolland Big-Y has a great selection of meat and seafood, better than the Mansfield Big-Y. The Tolland Big-Y still has human-cashier checkout, not like the Mansfield Big-Y which is converting to impersonal robotic self-service checkout. In this day and age, personal human interaction versus robot is very important.

Clean and well stocked. Amazing selections.

Our car broke down at the 84 in the evening and this supermarket was at the nearest exit. We managed to park our car across the supermarket but were able to get on the WIFI inside, as well as having some warm soup and sushi. A cup of coffee for $1,- the next days as we got our car fixed. Very clean and great big supermarket with a great array of products and great opening times! Loved the warm food and coffee. I can recommend the pizza. Thank you!

Superb customer service! I was looking for party wings the evening before the Super Bowl(to my own fault for last minute planning) and they were all out by the looks of it and the butchers had gone home as it was late. A manager asked if I could wait as they were in the process of unloading a delivery that was supposed to have them on it. I did. The delivery had only the full wings on it which would have been fine but he offered to take another look in the butchery and found some unpacked party wings waiting to be seasoned and offered to package them up for me at the sale price. He could have easily said they were all out from the get go and told me to buy the prepackaged frozen wings. But thats why I go to Big Y.

Already loved how clean, tidy and friendly this grocery store is. Now that I saw they are making an effort to reduce plastic use and especially straws Im more than happy to be a patron of this place.

The store is clean and organized even though shoppers cleared the shelves through the pandemic. The staff of the seafood and deli departments are HORRIBLE!!! They make you feel like your a bother!! Not good customer service at all! I asked the women in seafood if the crab legs in the case was all they had and she said yes thats it for tonight then I asked for a 5lb box for $100 and she could get me that after huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes!! If they were for me I wouldnt have bought them just because of her attitude

The best grocery store east of the Connecticut River. The people who manage and work in the store are friendly and courteous. The vegetables and seafood are fresh and plentiful. Great variety and reasonably priced. The bakery is awesome.

Tolland Big Y is my favorite Big Y. Everyone always goes above and beyond to help the customers. Dave in bakery helped me out with a lovely breakfast platter on short notice. Everyone does an excellent job from Pat in produce, to Ed in dairy, to Jeff in grocery, and beyond. There are too many to list. Scott, you have an excellent crew working with you. You all help make my grocery shopping experience one that I enjoy. Thank you all for all you do!

Big Y has not had their brand of multi grain rice cakes in weeks. They have not had their own large frozen blueberries in weeks. Also, they claim that Tropicana orange juice in the very large container has been discontinued when in fact, I can purchase it at Stop & Shop and BJs. Not happy with Big Ys restocking as of late.

Absolutely terrible customer service in their pizza/grinder department. Said there was no order, then found half the order. Did not admit fault or offer anything to help fix order. 1.5 hours late and completely ruined our event. Then had the nerve to accuse my employee of stealing. Waiting for an apology and none of us will step foot in this store again. No easy to treat good customers. Not the community centered store I thought it was.

Always clean, always ready to help and it is in tolland CT.. What else can I say. It is a great place to shop for good quality foods. The prep foods department is loaded with everything you could want and.... Fresh sushi... 💕

They usually have what I am looking for. They offer senior hours which is very helpful during the pandenic. The staff is courteous. They do a great job with ready made foods and we like their sushi. The soups are excellent. The pharmacy is open 7 days a week and everyone is helpful. Big Y is a good place to shop.

I went in a little bit ago with my service dog(who didn’t have her vest on at the moment since it was a quick in and out of the store), I was then approached by, who I wanna say is the manager, and told me that dogs are not allowed in the store. I understand that because she did not have her vest on so she looked like a regular dog. I told him that my dog is in fact a Service animal, and long story short, basically told me that he did not care what she was, and told me to leave the store. He then proceeded to follow me out of the store while harassing me after I told him to leave me alone several times. I find myself or my family to never return to this store until they have respect for Service Animals & their handlers!

As of September 2020:It is a great supermarket for the community that has the World Class service. As of now, they are indeed remodeling for a new look inside Big Y of Tolland, C.T.Otherwise, great service, good deals and friendly staff. Self checkouts arent replacing cashiers but its worth using for a couple of items.The Little Y is no more but the pharmacy is here to welcome customers who need prescriptions.Itll even be nice once it is fully remodeled soon.If you live in the town, check it out!--------------------------------------------------Review from January 2020:Paczki donuts -- only $5.99 while they last! Overall, great supermarket with fantastic savings on so many products.

Great quality customer service. The best part about this Big Y is the FREE 2 HOURS OF CHILD CARE for ages 3 and up. The employees there go through background checks and are some of the nicest people around. Plus the fishermans dozen oysters are always a huge hit with my wife!

I really do not like Big Y supermarkets. I only shop there for only a few items. Most of my shopping is at stop and shop. I have been in the food business most of my life and the only good thing at Big Y is the flag they fly.

This is the most expensive grocery store. I have to say that their bakery department and their cakes are absolutely of exceptional quality and freshness. Whenever we need a birthday cake this is the location that we go to. Try the fruit bowl cake, fantastic!

Its nice for a large mid sized grocery store chain. They do have a nice selection of local products ranging from produce to tea. Down side is that they are pricier than the local competition.

This Big Y location is at the i-84 rt 195 track to uconn. The store is well stocked on a daily basis. Sale items are generally at the front of the store. The produce section is well run. Pizza and stuff for quick meals are on time.

Big Y sells a big variety of items, including store produced items like cakes, donuts, muffins, pizzas, cheeses. The staff is friendly and the service is very good. Prices vary on a weekly basis.

Was not to happy with the big y in tolland ct.1. the salad bar they just put in was not filled up and old and the way it is set up you have to lean your body over the food.2. Very sad that at the deli, the ham salad and other salads had not been mixed,they had been sitting for awhile, so you know what they looked like .When I worked at big y I was told to mixed the salads every 20 minutes so they always look fresh.I guess I will stay with my big y in stafford springs ct.

Good selection and decent prices. My only real complaint is that they pack the aisles with too much stuff (cardboard displays and such). It makes it really difficult to get down the aisles. Oh, and their stupid coin system. I already have a card to get discounts, now I need a silver coin for some discounts and a gold coin for bigger discounts? crazy. At least just load them on my loyalty card when I earn them instead of making me carry these physical coins.

Seen no masks being worn so I told management and was told to get a life.Not nice my girlfriend started crying we left.
