Tejas is one of THE BEST in the Houston area... and the state of Texas (and therefore, the nation)! This should be on every BBQ lover’s bucket list. The brisket is as good as it gets. The sides are to die for. And don’t leave without getting the creative chocolates! They are out of this world. This is worth the drive to Tomball from anywhere in the region. Highly recommend!
Tejas BBQ is by far the best BBQ restaurant my wife and I have visited. The brisket & ribs are the best we have ever had. Excellent customer service & the staff is very friendly. We definitely will return for more visits!!
Came here on Saturday a little before 11am and there were already people lined up (no mask required at this place). We ordered a potato with brisket to go, and also got some chocolate while wating for the food. I liked that each item was packed separately so the food didnt mess up while traveling, but unfortunately, they didnt give us BBQ sauce so we had the food with the BBQ sauce we have at home. I cant comment on the sauce but we liked the food especially the brisket. Chocolate was great, too.
I remembered seeing this on a food/travel show. Kept it on my go to list and finally made it today. You can smell the BBQ/Smoke outside (1st good sign) waited in line a moment or 2 (another good sign). Got the brisket sandwich with tortilla shells. Great flavor! Loved the ambiance & set up. Food was very good. Supposedly the chocolates are amazing too. Definitely worth a other visit, or more...
The location was highly recommended by some locals. Ive come to find out its one of the top bbq. I dropped in around 445pm.The business does not offer plates, everything is a la cart. They sold out of ribs and burnt ends (I would have liked to try both).I ordered brisket and by recommendation the 7 dollar Chile sausage along with the much talked about carrot souffle. The brisket is top notch. They nail the right amount of bark for me. Nice texture and flavor. Very well executed. The sausage was a bit different. Small Chiles and cheese throughout. Not a strong flavor but pretty good overall. The carrot souffle was fantastic. It has a light cheesecake like texture to it. Very light sweetness to it. Perfect thing to cut the smoke flavor and compliment it.The one glaring negative is their bbq sauce. It has to be one of the worst tasting bbq sauces Ive ever had. Ended up going to another table to see if it was just my batch. Nope. All I can taste is chili/nutmeg. Tasting that in my bbq sauce is unsettling. Tasting nothing but that is even more so. I ended up not using any sauce, I would have settled for a bottle of Kraft sauce at that point. They have a nice strongly flavored black tea brew for those who like it like it like that. Drinks and condiments are set aside for easy self service access. The chocolates at the location looked enticing but I cant say I saved any room for it.Overall its a quaint location that has mastered smoking BBQ meats and the carrot souffle. Its held back by their IMO poorly made BBQ sauce. Worth a visit overall.
Great BBQ experience in Tomball, I would recommend getting there 30-60 minute before they open unless you want to wait in line. They offer special items on the weekend like pastrami beef rib and pork belly. Also a heads up theyre not enforcing masks or social distancing at this business, if youre concern they offer a order online for pickup option.
The customer service here is almost as good as the BBQ...almost! The staff are always welcoming and friendly and the quality of everything weve ever had has been phenomenal. My advice would be to get there earlier in the day though as they usually run out of certain items well before closing time. Oh and just go ahead and get the Carrot Souffle, you can thank me later.
Love to eat at Tejas!! The food is outstanding - really like the different daily specials. My Friend and I try to mix up our lunch days to take advantage of the specials - never disappointed. The staff is Professional - Friendly. A shout out to Raven who usually takes our orders - she is always patient and helpful. Scott, the owner is very personable -we enjoyed chatting with him.I print out my own order to help facilitate the line moving along - really has worked out well.
Great Texas Craft BBQ spot! Really enjoyed the brisket and the Pastrami Beef Rib was something Id never had before. It was better than a regular beef rib in my opinion. Sides were excellent also. The carrot soufflé was dabomb! All the sausage was great but especially enjoyed the Boudan that had a nice subtle kick to it.
If you want good BBQ, you gotta pay the price... And its definitely worth it! From the Brisket to the Chile Relleno Sausage, right down to the truffles. Everything was delish. We cant forget about the Carrot Soufflé the star of the show. Carrot soufflé may sound odd, but it was a delight. We got the lean brisket and it was the perfect ratio of fatty and meat. As for the truffles we had the Martha and the oreo, and let me tell you if you love oreos like I do. The oreo truffle is worth the $4 ticket.
I understand why this BBQ place was rated 6th best in the world. A coworker of mine saw it featured on the Food Network and recommended I check it out. The pork belly was to die for (far left) and the carrot soufflé? Wow. I have to figure out the recipe. The Green BBQ sauce is supposedly a mole made with their homemade chocolate and it was delicious! The second my boyfriend tasted the sauce, he jumped back in line for more meat. The woman working the counter recognized him and pulled him to the side to place his order (so he could come back to the table quickly and eat!) We had to walk a lap around Old Town Tomball so that I had room for the chocolates. The dulce de leche was my favorite! We will definitely be back, as this has immediately become a wonderful BBQ staple.TLDR; the service was impeccable and the best BBQ Ive ever had. Try the pork belly, the carrot soufflé, and the green sauce --
Did I just die?Maybe I did and Im in Heaven!I got the carrot souffle, cornbread casserole, brisket, ribs and sausage. The food is sooo good. The BEST BARBECUE in Tomball and probably Houston. If you havent tried Tejas Chocolate yet, you need to. Come join me in Heaven!!!! 🥰😍😋
Chocolate and BBQ just like the name says. This was our first visit and the special was Burnt Ends and the Dino Beef Rib. The sides we had were Purple Hull Peas and Bacon Cole Slaw. Everything was delicious. I was not able to finish my 1.4 lb. beef rib and took it to go.Everything I saw on other tables also looked amazing. We will definitely be back. Did not try the chocolate but it looked great, pics included in this review.
Best BBQ Ive ever had. Brisket and ribs were mouth watering. Chocolates are also amazing
Brisket was very tasty with a nice smoke ring. My buddy got the brisket prime sandwich that was also good. Hard to find good brushback in Georgia.
Yea I know - whoa one more 5 star review for this legendary bbq - Saturday first time visit and only had a 10 min wait and got a table - tried a bit of it all and everything was just great. The smoked pastrami was extra yummy! If anywhere near Tomball on a Saturday highly recommended stopping for this BBQ, the large farmers market, and abundance of cool antique shops all within a few blocks of each other!
Ive eaten at Truths and this is as good or better. Amazing facility (see pics). They also have all kinds of crazy good chocolate balls. Talked to the owner and they are very charitable. They were going to feed like 600 inner city kids the next day after I was there. Sometimes you just meet super good people and they are an example of how we should be. Exceptionable food and people.
Last year, I moved away from Texas after spending 10+ years there. And few things do I miss more than Tejas Barbecue in Tomball. Magic! Insane. Not even sure what words to use about their taste. I am writing this while visiting Tejas and experiencing this place again after at least 6 months of forced “barbecue diet”, simply because no other place comes even close in my book. No way to replace. Buy a ticket to Houston to experience this place. I am not kidding.
This place has some good Barbecue and Chocolate balls. The pork belly was very good. There was a small waiting line, which I dont minding waiting for good food. They also provide free beer and soda while you wait. The beef rib was perfect and moist. The brisket was good but it seems like it was not trimmed prior to cooking. The spicy sausage was good and cheesy.
Great BBQ! Seriously some of the best I’ve ever had. Nice chocolate ball bar with lots of unique flavors to choose from. The barbecue is off the chain though. Will definitely come back for the turkey sandwich with fried egg but if you’ve never been the sampler platter is where it’s at. Not a great beer selection but decent enough. Saw this place on Texas bucket list and had to try it. Also has ample parking. An absolute must try Texas barbecue place!
Definitely worth the wait. If you want to skip the line on Saturday, wake up early and get yourself a golden ticket. Saturdays are Burnt ends, burgers, and beef ribs. All three are great. They are opening a burger joint soon, so burgers wont always be on the menu here. All the sides are great, complimentary beer available while you wait in line, friendly staff. They also make chocolate from scratch which is amazing.
Some of the best brisket Ive had. Everything is made there and is of exceptional quality. The staff were all great and very passionate about their favorite dishes. The carrot souffle is awesome! You must try it. The potato salad is just how I like it.The chocolate is also fantastic. The beans come from several countries and the staff is knowledgeable on each truffle and its story. You wont regret coming here!
The hype about this place is legit. The food is so well made and so flavorful you will be thankful you tried it. I had the brisket wedge salad and it was incredible. I also had the special chili relleno sausage and of course a few of their delicious chocolates! The staff was super nice and helpful and it’s just an all around awesome BBQ restaurant.
Small place not much for seating inside. However, the burnt ends were great and the Chile relleno sausage was the best sausage Ive ever had. I wanna go back for dinner. 5 stars for sure.
Heard about this place long time ago and finally gotta check it out yesterday. Brisket melt in your mouth. Yummy. The pork rib and pork belly were alright. My favorite was the brisket. So moist... chocolate were pricey $4 for one small piece. The wait was about an hour ‘till we got our food on a Saturday lunch.
Fun place with great service in Old Town Tomball, which is really well done. The food is good, not great. The BBQ is expensive for what you get.
Great brisket, loved it! Only thing I wasnt a fan of was the barbecue sauce. However, I will say that the baked potato with the chopped beef was delicious even without sauce. I will return!
This place has the best briskets in Texas. The staff from the front counter lady to the kitchen chief to the manager Jacob and the pit master Greg were extremely friendly with amazing Southern hospitality to our family. We will definitely be back early next time for the beef rib. By the way, everything else are top notch in taste from brisket to ribs (perfectly smoked), carrot soufflé, sausage,...., unbelievable.
Boy, I had some of your barbecue today out at Harley-Davidson of Woodlands and it was fantastic and I dont mean to be trite but write home to Mom sort of good stuff -cant wait to try your chocolates!!
It was very interesting to hear the story of how this place was created. The staff was very friendly and explained the process in making the truffles. Not only I learned how Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue was born but also that Cocoa beans are imported from 6 different to make the delicious truffles. They have about 20 varieties of truffles at a time. Definitely coming back with the family!
The “fatty / moist” brisket was delicious. It was very moist, flavorful and had a wonderful bark! Seriously... it was really good! The half chicken was good with lots of flavor and a nice skin but the breast was on the dry side. The sides are why I chose to give a 4 star review. In my opinion they are lacking and would be better with a basic potato option, Mac n cheese, etc. as I looked around not many people had sides. The “sweet tea” also wasn’t good (but it could’ve been a bad batch). I also think that a couple of sauce options would serve them well. Their sauce wasn’t bad, but I would’ve preferred options. (The brisket didn’t need sauce but the chicken did)The chocolate combination is a cool concept and the atmosphere was pleasant. Plenty of parking, not a long wait and adequate indoor / outdoor seating. This would be a great place to buy a few pounds of meat and take home for a gathering
THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST! Incredible team putting out absolutely spectacular BARBECUE! Chili Relleno sausage is the best sausage youll ever have. Period. Gorgeous perfect brisket youll be proud to have had in your lifetime. Carrot souffle is a side, a dessert, and a MUST. Great barbacoa tacos! Dont forget the chocolate. Must eat here at least once in your lifetime.
Stellar BBQ. Some of the best brisket and pork ribs around. Definitely top 5!! Amazing and well done. Tasty and yummy. Plenty of parking. Arrived at 9:30 and got Golden Ticket 14! Love the ticket idea to guarantee the first 20 people in line their spots. CC accepted. Opened at 11 and had food in hand by 11:45. Went on Dec 29th the day before they closed for holiday break. Super fun and engaging staff. Definitely worth the visit!
Amazing brisket. Usually I cannot stand brisket. Decided to give it a go and get one to go. Got a lean cut sandwich and it was absolutely amazing. I have always heard if u dont brisket it wasnt done right. Well folks theirs is definitely done right. Really enjoyed it. It is a must have on my next visit, again.
Brisket has great excellent flavor and the Chile rellano sausage is the best.
We spent Valentines day at Tejas and we were very satisfied with the wonderful tasting brisket. In all we ordered, lean brisket, turkey, pulled pork, a side of pinto beans and lastly a side of potato salad. Every bit of our experience there was phenomenal. The staff was attentive, friendly, and they were also great in making sure our food came out quick. This restaurant deserves all the stars.
Went in for over the holidays for the first time, and this place definitely lives up to the hype!It gets crowded quickly, and I think all the meat is typically sold out before 3 pm. If you are wanting to try it make sure to get their around 11-12 because they only make a set amount of BBQ.I had the sausage, fatty brisket, and pork ribs. They use a great rub of predominantly pepper. I was extremely impressed with the brisket, and the ribs and sausage were good as well. They also have amazing desserts because it also a chocolate shop! So the chocolate delicacies are icing on the cake after the savory meats. This is definitely a flavorful, timely dining experience, so prepare for a little extra wait, but it is definitely worth it!
Lean or Moist? I laughed a little when ordering brisket and was asked if I wanted lean or moist! I went for the moist brisket ... lean seems to always need a bit of bbq sauce which Im not a huge fan. However, I read other reviews about the sauce at this joint and felt the need to try some ... again, I typically dont use sauce with my bbq ... but this stuff was pretty good ... unique sharp taste, I enjoyed it. We had brisket, sausage, ribs and burnt ends. I was surprised to get the burnt ends since we got there a bit late, normally theyre sold out ... they were very good burnt ends with excellent bark (although I still prefer the scooby snacks at Bretts Backyard BBQ in Rockdale). The brisket was very good ... great texture, thick smoke ring and a solid smoke taste ... no need for sauce but if thats your thing, youll be pleasantly surprised. The ribs passed the bite test with flying colors ... easy to eat and great taste! We also had the cornbread casserole and bacon coleslaw. Great meal. Great atmosphere ... small bbq joint in old town Tomball ... along with the 70s rock (radar love) playing in the background I almost thought it was Austin. After dinner, we purchased a handful of chocolates ... including the kahlua chocolate ... geez that thing was chocolatey ... very rich very good. Tejas BBQ is a nice gem close to our own backyard. Well be back.
Honestly not worth the money. Sure, if you want to spend $10 on 2 small slices of brisket, go ahead. Oh, and half of that was just fat. The bbq sauce kinda tastes like tomato sauce. Highly disappointed and probably won’t be eating here again.
Nice, quaint BBQ and Chocolate shop in Tomball thats worth a stop!Visited Tejas Chocolate and Barbecue this past weekend with some friends and family. Luckily I heard about the Golden Ticket and did a little Googling to figure it all out. Got there, and it paid off with Ticket #1, so went home, came back and got to be first in line. OK, now on to the food... Everything was great with one exception... our brisket, which didnt have much flavor past the crust. Now Im not prepared to write of the brisket, because I have lots of friends that swear by the brisket here... so I will give that the benefit of the doubt and move on. On the rest of the tray, we had (listed in order of favorite to least)... Burnt Ends, Turkey (on the Bird an Bacon salad), Pork Ribs, Chile Relleno Sausage, Pulled Pork, House Mild Sausage, Brisket. The sides (fresh green beans, cornbread casserole, potato salad) were AWESOME. Everything was great! When you are finished, dont forget to navigate your way across the line to the chocolate counter and get yourself some house-made chocolates! There were some amazing options in there. Our fave was the Peanut Butter!! The owner and staff are SUPER friendly and courteous, making you feel right at home, and will take care of whatever you might need.
Incredible barbecue and chocolate. There is a reason why Texas Monthly just rated these guys as #6 BBQ joint in the state. The brisket is so moist and has a great bark. The sausage is tasty. The pork ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and delicious. The pulled pork is flavorful. And I was surprised by how good the carrot souffle was. And their handcrafted chocolates are beyond delicious. This place is flat out amazing. Its worth the drive and the wait.
Brisket was really good here. We came late in the day and still got food (maybe 4pm). I got brisket and pork belly. Definitely heavy on the black pepper, so expect it.I didnt get to try any chocolate, but it looked really good. They did show is their pits and even let us watch them wrap a brisket. Told us about their process, etc. Very cool and nice people.
Found out about this place via Texas Bucket List. The food and chocolate does not disappoint. 😋
Top BBQ in Texas for sure! I have had a lot of BBQ all over Texas and other States but I have yet to find one that is better than Tejas. Everything that I have had here is amazing! We have tried everything on the menu except for the chocolate. If you go do not pass up the carrot souffle! Love Love Love this place!
The best barbeque Ive ever had. Thursday pastrami is amazing! Dont skip the pork belly! Also love the cornbread casserole side, but the meat is where its at! Plus the chocolate options are delectable.
Best brisket that have ever eaten from a BBQ restaurant. The moist cut was absolutely flawless! Coming back soon to get the beef ribs.
Found this gem one day while looking for a place to eat lunch! Cant believe this place was tucked away a few streets away from a work site I was at.Place is quite popular and for good reason. The BBQ here is top notch and is currently my favorite place on the Northside for BBQ. This place is neck and neck with one other place I love on the Southside.Anyways, Brisket is a 10 even if the bark can sometimes be a little too think for my preference but its my preference so I wouldnt dare deduct on that. The Brisket is juicy and tender with great seasoning/flavor. Sauce not required for enjoyment!Love the Chili Relleno Sausage links, pulled pork, and the Brisket & Blues Sandwich is also amazing. They have amazing desserts, so save some room!
Dear God in heaven that was the best baked potato Ive ever had in my life. Also the chocolate panna cotta is no joke. Not to sound uppity but the bitterness really shows the confidence in their craft, and of course compliments the sweetness. The coffee is also a great touch.10/10 - would engorge again.
What a great spot! As a KCBS certified judge, I’m a pretty tough critic but I loved this place. The beef rib was outstanding, the burnt ends and brisket both good (heavy on the pepper so could be a touch spicy for some folks) and the pork ribs were the best thing I had. Add to that the awesome hand made chocolate selection and you’ve got a joint that definitely lives up to its Texas Monthly Top 50 ranking. Good seating both inside and outside in a nifty small house setting. If you’re in the Houston/Tomball area, you should hit Tejas!
The wait on a Saturday was worth the wait. The loaded spud filled me up and chopped brisket was good. The tea is brewed and good. I also had those chocalate truffles...yummy sweet to top off my meal.
Very good BBQ. In my top 3 for the Houston area. The brisket tocos are fantastic!
Absolutely delicious 😋 we ordered brisket spud, potato salad, brisket and burnt ends!!!
I went because they were written up in the Houstonian magazine. Very nice staff! I found the prices to be very high. I did not enjoy the potato salad at all. The meat was good... nothing to drive all the way to Tomball for thou. Im sure its great for those living out that way.
The food is actually delicious. Baked potatoes with pulled pork is the best thing they have in the menu
We got there at 3:30 and they had a very limited amount of meats left. After tasting the sausage I see why. It was very good. The cornbread pudding and carrot soufflé were amazing. Plan on getting there early while the selection is good. We will be back soon.
Great Brisket and other meat. They cook food on the grill straight from the freezer. No processed foods and they make their own chocolate in a factory in the building in the back. I used to work here in 2017 in high school, great restaurant and managers. The sauce is amazing and on every table. Its like taco sauce and BBQ mixed its really good. They cook quicky as well so even if its busy theres not much of a wait. Dont go on Saturdays because they run out of food early around 4 P.M or so and the line goes a street down. If you do, get there early and be ready to wait a while
The barbecue at this place is fantastic! The brisket was tender, with good smoky flavor. But what made it for me was the bark...delicious and crispy! The chocolates too were excellent. I tried the Kahlua (coffee) and mint. They literally melt in your mouth, with rich flavor. Its not a cheap place, as far as barbecue goes. If you get a meal and chocolate, it will set you back $30-35 each. But it is SO worth it!
Came in Saturday around 4pm for a late lunch. Walked right in and ordered. Brisket & pulled pork sandwiches were great. The carrot side dish was delicious. Will definitely be back when we are in the area.
We got there around 4:30pm Thursday and we had the whole restaurant to ourselves!Ordered brisket mixed moist and regular, beef ribs, relleno sausage, coleslaw, salad and of course the carrot soufflé.The ribs were tender but not falling off the bone, overall better than average.Relleno sausage was very good, good texture and didn’t feel fatty. The moist brisket was very good, better than average. Same for the regular brisket. One setback was the meat felt a bit cold! Should be warm coming out of the pit! Feel we were served with older cook!Carrot soufflé was excellent! We did try the Oreo, espresso, and regular truffle chocolate ball. They are $5/each, Oreo taste different with the filling taste similar to Oreo cheese cake, others are not really worth the $$$
Twice as much as corkscrew and the sauce was bad. Wont be going back.
Wow, only 4.5 stars?! Haters gonna hate hate hate! This is easily the best BBQ in Texas. What I had was completely phenomenal: brisket, sausage+cheese sausage, potato salad, and carrot souffle. Please, if you think Rudys is awesome, your mind is about to be blown away.
If you want to know what good Texas barbecue is all about this is a wonderful place to start.
We ordered brisket, chile relleno sausage, ribs with a side order of beans and potatoe salad. It was delicious 😋 the brisket was so moist and tender, the ribs were perfectly seasoned with a hint of smokey flavor & no need for bar-b-que sauce. Now, the chile relleno sausage was really good if you like cheese. Overall, Tejas Chocolate Barbecue stood out from other BBQ places weve been to. I would recommend my friends & family!
O m sooo good I love it worth the 1 1/2 hrs drive from Galveston highly recommended be there soon again yummy
The pastrami and the pork rib chowder were excellent! Worth the wait. The smoked turkey is also a great choice; so moist and flavorful. Oh and the bratts...haven’t had anything yet that I wouldn’t get again. That goes for the chocolate and truffles too.
The Pastrami on Thursdays is well worth the wait, because it was the most tender smoked pastrami Ive ever had. The house mustard really emphasized the great flavor of the meat, and on the Reuben with cheese and caramelized onions it was heavenly. Show up early, like 10am early, because this is an experience you dont want to miss.
Great atmosphere, amazing food! Must try!
Very enjoyable treat today! Ive been meaning to make it out to Tejas Chocolate & Barbecue for a few years now. It was worth the wait. We had the pork ribs, brisket, carrot souffle, summer corn salad and potato salad. All was delightful! We ordered a bunch of chocolates as well, but have been too full to try them yet.
Food was awesome...Chili relleno sausage is off of the chain.
Best bbq ever! Moist brisket, tender ribs and the sausage was outstanding! If you have never experienced this wonderful place, go! If you have, go back!
Theres BBQ, and then theres the religious experience. The smoke flavoring is over-the-top good truly authentic barbecue smoke the old-fashioned way. Family-run and worth the wait. We went for the barbecue and loved it but holy cow the chocolate was over the top as well! We were surprised to learn that they roast their own cocoa beans. It is amazing! I personally prefer my chopped brisket to be not so finely chopped but they said thats no problem I can have it chopped however I want the next time Im back. Yeah theyre that good. In-house from scratch sauce and pickled onions, and the ambience of the perfectly Texan charming hospitality that just cant be beat. By the time youve made it through the line outside of hungry patrons, everybody is friends with each other and its just a good overall experience. Lets keep this gem our secret, k?
The BBQ is great, but my fav is the carrot souffle... So yummy! Great warm or cold.
Great BBQ and sides. Expect to pay craft BBQ prices. Ranks up there with Pinkertons and Truth in Houston.
I recently visited this place to have lunch with a friend and celebrate his birthday. The service is excellent, and the food was amazing, I strongly recommend the pork belly and the brisket. The place is clean, and the employees very friendly. Even the music was great!Jacob (the manager) gave us a tour of the smokers, and we had a pleasant chat. There is also plenty of free parking conveniently located across the street. I highly recommend this place!
Sorry for the bad review, but we had ribs and brisket (9/10/21), and it was TOO SALTY. Almost so much so that I could not eat mine. CUT BACK ON THE SALT!!!
I never write reviews but this was so Horrible that I had to say something... The food was salty and pricy I had the turkey meal it wasnt turkey meat it was turkey ham. The meat was dry and spicy my 4 year old was starving, but could not finish. There arent any sides if you want a side you have to pay extra for it is self service they dont even give you plates the chocolate wasnt good either... Honestly 4 of us 2 sandwiches two side of meat or make believe meat.... Oviously meat byitself is horrible so we ask for two sides of beans. 4 drinks ( milk soda 2 cans) $73 crazy!!!! With that money I would have had a great meal with decent service someplace else...
People were great and very welcoming. The BBQ was the best brisket she has had in a long while. The carrot souffle was amazing. We will go back to try other menu items and to sample their chocolates!
The brisket was moist and tender with great flavor. The Pork ribs were tender with good flavor and the Jalapeno Cheese Sausage was on point. I will be back to try the pork belly and pulled pork. The staff and owners were all very friendly.
Brisket and ribs were gone by the time we got there, which of course is a risk when looking for good BBQ after 2 pm in Houston, but everything we did try was fantastic. The pulled pork was the best Ive had anywhere due to the seasoning. Pastrami was something Ive never seen at a BBQ joint and we will definitely be returning to try out the Reuben. Turkey, sausage, pork belly all fantastic. Potato salad is mayo based with green onion and though I usually prefer mustard based, I really enjoyed it. I was looking forward to trying the mole, but it didnt make it into our order, I dont think they heard me say it; will definitely try that next time. We finished our lunch with some truffles from the chocolate counter. All in all, this place was worth the 50 minute drive and we will definitely be back! Thanks Tejas Chocolate + BBQ!
Tejas is a pretty solid place for some good bbq. Their brisket is always cooked perfectly, the potato salad is the best around and their chili relleno sausage may be the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I wasn’t a big fan of their rub (it’s very peppery), their cornbread pudding is a little dry and bland and their sauce isn’t the best...it’s still good though. The place is nice and every time I’ve gone they have a cooler of beer for customers waiting in line. I highly recommend this place as many people like it and it’s deforest worth a trip.
