Positive experience purchasing several books and renting a book. All books were in excellent condition but sometimes advertised as a lower quality. Everyone who has helped with check-in checkout has always been courteous and has been wearing mask properly.

I wish I wouldn’t have ever taken my books here . I was never informed when my books sold. I keep being told I will receive the check from them selling once it prints next Friday (same thing I was told months ago). Everyone sounds half asleep that works here and isn’t able to help at all. They also sent emails suggesting price changes for books which I opt out of and responded no to. Yet they sold a very expensive book of mine for only $1 even after I opt out. This place owes me money for that on top of the check I keep being told I’ll receive but still is not where to be found . Terrible business

I usually prefer to get my books from here because they have great prices for students and its close to the university. However, I went in today (Friday) to drop off my books at 12:15pm and there were no clerks to be seen. The store was empty, the phone rang and no one answered it, and I yelled to the back to see if I could grab anybody, but I got no answer. I assumed they were out to lunch and decided to try an hour later. I called before heading back and the recorded message said they were closed. The communication here is obviously lacking. I just dropped off my books with a note with my information. I drove an hour down there to make sure my books got returned, just to be mislead by all of the information that they provided to the public. ESPECIALLY during a pandemic, I expected better service from them. Theyre lucky to be open at a time like this, but the inconsistencies with their hours of operation would make me think otherwise. Posted are the interactions I had with whoever operates their Facebook page. Theyre supposed to be closing by now (3pm) and I havent gotten any email verifying my books have been returned. Theyre probably still lying on the counter.

I ordered a 4 books 8 days before school started (they say they can have the books in 4-7 days) and I received three of the textbooks in 7 days. The fourth book I was told was in transit for over 30 days. When I finally got the book, it was the wrong edition! Hit or miss; if you need books in less than a month worth it to spend $20 more on Amazon or at university bookstore to have them when you need them.

The people that worked there were very helpful but I can only give the store three stars because they lost my text books twice. The books are way cheaper than they are on campus but unfortunately it took them over two weeks to get them to me. One was lost in the mail and the other got lost in the store. Both were eventually found out replaced and the manager was very helpful but they were very late.

Good prices on books when they have it. But once I ordered a book to come into store and it never came in. The customer service is not that great either I could have robbed this place blind cuz Ive been waiting at the counter for over 15 minutes now and no one has come to even say anything to me.

For better deals shop for your books, especially school texts, at Bookholders. Since your needed books can cost an exorbitant amount, saving money at Bookholders really makes great sense. They also buy books back.

Honestly if I could I would give this place zero stars. I ordered a book to the store for a class and was told the book would arrive in 4-7 business days. The book never arrived. I even went into the store to get an update on when it would be arriving and got no information. I decided to wait it out and see if it would come. It still never came. After this point I called and asked for a refund. I was told on the phone they would take care of it for me and my money would be back in 4-7 business days. After waiting for 7 days for my money back I STILL did not receive that. I called back again and the woman working had to call the company who handles their “finances” and have them process my refund while she was on the phone to ensure I got my money back. The people I dealt with on the phone were very polite but honestly this is some of the worst service I’ve ever received from a company.

This place is a UPS access point. DO NOT USE them unless you want your packages getting delayed for days. I dropped packages off on a Thursday about 3:00 PM. They did not get picked up by UPS until Monday after I called UPS and complained they did not move. There were no holidays either.

If you want to buy a book, then this is the place that you may find a book. Just May. However, If you want to sell your books; do not go there. The worst place ever. I sold my books in 07/13/2016. However the date today is 02/11/2017 and they do not want to give me my money. it feels like they just want to take advantages of you without respecting. DO NOT GO THERE. THE MANAGER THERE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO MANAGE THE STORE. THE STORE IS NOT ORGANIZED. THEY DO NOT WANT TO HELP YOU AT ALL. Furthermore, THEY DO NOT WANT TO GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY IF YOU SELL BOOKS THERE. EVEN WITH BEGGING, THIS PLACE IS THE WORST.

I sold my books about 3 months ago. Most of the books that I put up for sale were sold already. They told me it would take 2 weeks to process a check. 2 months is not 2 weeks. Its been 2 months and I still have not received my paycheck from them.

If I could give this store negative stars I would. The employees are not trained at all and management is a nightmare. The wait in the store is always an incredibly long time because no one knows what is going on. The employees cannot answer the simplest of questions. The owner pays the workers $7.25 an hour despite Marylands minimum wage being over $10. He takes advantage of college students needing employment and lies to them about giving a wage increase. Not only is this company terrible to buy/sell with, it is horrible to work for and I warn everyone thinking about using their services. Bottom line- NEVER visit bookholders, avoid it at all costs or if you want to be treated horribly, stop in for that experience.

Book holders is fine under certain conditions.1. Buy your books for pick up... you may or may not get a mail order2. DO NOT sell back... checks are MINISCULE, and book holders will bug you to lower the price in the middle of the semester, as if people are interested in buying mid-semester3. Do not depend on their customer service... their short term seasonal employees never know how to resolve your issues

Decent alternative to the TU bookstore. They usually give you a little more money than TU for your books. Theyll sell your books for you for a little more. Books seem a little cheaper too. But really your better off on Amazon. Ive seen a lot of people have problems with them custumer service wise.

Long story short, I bought a digital code as a rental at the beginning of the semester. When I returned the code according to their rental policies, they charged me a fee because I attempted to return a code that was used. Im sorry, but you sold the code to me as a rental. What am I supposed to do with the code after I rightfully buy it? Instead of just taking the loss for their mishap, theyre attempting to spin it around to me and get me to pay for a mistake they made that was out of my control. This isnt the first time Ive had a bad experience with Bookholders, and all of my roommates have had a bad experience as well. Whether it be an understaffed store where you have to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to come out of the back room and assist you, books that never arrive in the mail, or just poor customer service in general, Bookholders never fails to meet those standards.

I had given this place a good review because I was able to get some older books at giveaway prices. I take that back because of the horrible experience Im having selling to them. Then I tried using them to sell books. What a NIGHTMARE! They wont tell you what theyll give you for the books on the web site, even know their computers tell them what the cash price is. You get suggested consignment values online which sounded great. Their site was suggesting I could get $50-100 for many of my books. If you go by the example cash buy-back prices, it seemed like they might be giving half or a third of the consignment price in cash (which is NOT true). So I made the long drive down. When I got there I found the harsh reality. 90% of the books listed with these great consignment values were NOT books theyd buy. Of the three big boxes of books I brought to them, I was able to sell three of them for a grand total of $8.One stack of books they could not give me any suggested consignment price at all. I had to leave the books with them for someone to research. In the weeks following, these books slowly appeared on my sales list in dribs and drabs.... and all with dismally poor selling prices. Why even take my books if all youre going to do is list it for $1.25 ?Problem #1 is that some of the books they checked in did not appear on their consignment system for a week. I was left wondering - did they lose them? Where did they go? Why didnt they appear even as pending if I did the check in?Problem #2 is that within mere days of dropping the books off, their system tried to do price reductions. These arent little discounts to adjust for market prices. This is more like: they lured me in with a suggestion I could sell a book for $75. I consign it and within days their system wants to mark it down to $1. A 99% markdown is a huge difference in just a week or two!? And almost all the books you said were valuable are now worth only pennies?!And Problem #3 is they *keep* trying to mark the books down. If I dont act, my textbooks will be sold for 50 cents or $1. I get an email for each book they try to reprice. So if I miss just one single email, it means I could unwittingly be giving away my books for $1 or less -- the same books they told me a week earlier was worth $100 or $50 each. A week later they try it again, so I have to follow a link in each email to ignore each markdown again. There is no way to turn off this automated system -- so for as long as I have books there, I will keep having to reset the giveaway prices every week or two.The overall problem: we agreed on a consignment price, and now they change it without my permission. If they want to suggest a different price, fine -- but dont automatically lower it if I dont see the email and act fast enough. These price changes are premature & excessive.I still havent gotten a single check from the few books that did sell through their consignment system.I now know there are online textbook buyers who will give me an honest, accurate cash-now price on their web site, pay shipping, and mail an immediate check. Ill be going down ASAP to remove all my books from BookHolders and using a more reliable way to sell.BookHolders: if all you can sell most consignment books for is $1 or less, at least be honest on your web site. No more bait-and-switch tactics.

Since going to Towson, I have always checked Book Holders first before buying my books anywhere else because their prices are some of the best. I have saved soooo much money buying and renting from them and their books are usually in great condition. I have even made some money selling my books through them. Im so glad they are so close to campus!

Bought a lab book, used. I didnt know that the most important labs had been removed, until I was assigned fo do them. They would not let me return the book, though it was their fault for buying a book without checking it first.Update: Surprisingly, someone responded to my review and has agreed to refund the purchase price after some discussion and pictures to explain the situation. I am content with this solution at this point and have increased my rating. I will further update, pending the conclusion of the process. Thanks for taking the time to see my perspective.2nd Update: Checked my statement after finals and I did get the refund. Thank you!

Bookholders is the best!I had never heard of it until i saw an advertisement at my school (Towson University). They have so many of the same books Towson University has at Bookholders but less expensive.Book purchases, rentals, selling and more are offered here. Also, for personal reasons, i had to return my rental before the end of the semester.Because i returned it before two weeks of my purchase, they completely refunded me.I would definitely recommend Bookholders.
