Dresses were pretty for the most part. The customer service however was way below my standards of what I expected my wedding dress experience to be. When we first got there, our appointment was at noon, and we arrived at 11:45 and waited outside of the gate of the bridal shop. I called the shop to inform them we were there for an appointment around 12:05. As soon as I told her we were here for an appointment as polite as I could, she said oh, okay.. as soon as she hung up we heard the biggest sigh Ive ever heard. Keep in mind this storefront is only made up of Antal gate, so customers can see and hear everything.. when we finally got in the woman there gave my aunt so much grief for not picking out 5 dresses before the appointment and for using a cell phone to book the appointment rather than a desktop to pick out the dresses. She only started really being nice when I mentioned my budget for my wedding dress. The entire reason I was here in the first place was because my aunt made arrangements for me to try on wedding dresses in hopes to find one to show my grandmother who was on hospice in Michigan. I live in Colorado and was visiting my grandmother for a very short time, but this experience was one of the worst parts of my trip to visit my family. No bridal shop in Denver would never succeed with a bridal shop run like this. I write this only in hopes that this shop can be more open minded to the customers visiting their store and maybe show a little more respect because you never know what someone may be going through.
Well, being a last minute person and deciding on a wedding date 4 months away all the shops said I had to find one off the rack because there was no way to order one. After visiting other stores I was losing hope. If I hadnt gained weight putting me in a size 18 it would have been easier:-) We walked in and my daughter and best friend to pick out dresses in styles I hadnt tried on. The wonderful owner suggested a couple more.......I found my dress! I misted a little even being a 45 year old bride. Her attention to detail was wonderful and her understanding led to the perfect dress!! Thank you so much I cant wait for him to see me walking toward him!
They have a great selection of dresses and during the trial time the attention is awesome.Once you have made a purchase, the service drops lower than the ground. I never got a tracking number for my dress and I was never told when it arrived, I had to email them constantly to find out the whereabouts of my dress. When I was told it was received, they asked me to go pick it up and by the time I got there, they were already closed (it didnt take me more than a half hour) and they are terrible at picking up the phone.Lastly, when I received the dress it was as wrinkled as you can imagine. Honestly, if I am paying over $1,000 for a dress, I expect it to be delivered in a good shape, the zipper wasnt working well either and the owner of the store could not care less. For dresses, yes I recommend this store but please dont expect good service because you can be sure you will NOT receive it.
I had such a fantastic experience at to have and to hold thanks to Taylor. She was so easy to work with and I never felt rushed or pressured. This store had several dresses to choose from ranging all sorts of styles and prices. I enjoyed to one on one experience and how I was able to bring in quite a few people with me to help pick out dresses. Taylor was honest and kept the day fun! Highly recommend this store.
It was so amazing there. Lori just had to see one dress on me and knew what size and shape I would need. She kept asking my likes and dislikes as she would show me dresses in my size and found me the most perfect dress. Even my bridesmaids where comfortable. The prices were amazing as well. It seemed like she cared more about my happiness and not about just selling me the most expensive dress.
My three daughter and I arrived late one Saturday afternoon hoping to look for dresses . I was totally unaware and appointment was required . I suppose that was my fault for not looking at their website which clearly states that . When we arrived we removed our shoes and stepped into the shop . I looked around found staff to inquire if we might look at gowns but saw no one at first . In their defense they were in the middle of and appointment with another bride . When a staff member did show up she made eye contact but never approached us . As other customers entered the store she approached them and began working with them . Unaware of the stores appointment policy we began looking at the dresses they had on hand . After almost fifteen minutes in the store we finally got our greeting . The woman rudely said your not allowed to take the gowns off the rack and you must have and appointment . Nothing more just that . Shocked and devastated we left my daughters first attempt at looking for her dress totally ruined . Quite simply if there had been someone to greet us from the beginning and explain the rules we would not have left feeling like we did . Such a shame really I felt so bad for my daughter . It’s no way to run a business . My daughters wedding is in August she has seven girls in her wedding that’s 8 dresses as well as my own that is not likely to be purchased here . Also my youngest was hoping to scout out her wedding parties dresses for next year. I did learn though most shops require a appointment and will be sure to make those important calls in advance before we look at other shops likely in Grand Rapids where my oldest had wonderful luck or perhaps Chicago . I will say they did have two dresses she liked that I would have purchased that very day . Glad to see there were some brides that had wonderful luck here. First impressions will not likely have us returning .
I wish I could say that my dress experience was amazing, but I’m less than two weeks away from my wedding, and I have to say that I’m pretty disappointed by the end result. The ladies here were all very accommodating, but I feel like several details were missed. They were able to order my dress in a custom color, which I SO appreciate, and the color came out beautifully. The fit of my dress, however, was a complete disaster. I am not sure whether I was measured incorrectly to begin with, or if there was an issue on the designer’s end, but not only did my dress have to be taken in (not a big deal), but the torso was too long, in addition to several other issues. Overall, my alterations totaled $500 and I still don’t love the way my dress fits. This was all a shock to me because the sample in the store fit me almost perfectly. I did send an email expressing my frustration, but only received a very short response apologizing and blaming the designer. I feel as though the poor fit is something that should have been recognized by the staff when I tried the dress on after it came in. I realize that I should have spent more time focusing on the details myself, but I would also like to think that those working in the bridal industry would offer some guidance prior to my racking up a large bill in alterations, after already spending a decent amount on the dress itself. Bottom line, it wasnt the right size and should have been sent back before all of these alterations. On top of this, my Mom brought my dress in for pressing here, and upon pick up (thank God she looked), she lifted the bag from my dress and found that the accessory belt (which had been sewn into the dress) was hanging completely off of the dress. Luckily it could be easily fixed, but I can’t imagine if this wasn’t seen until the day of the wedding! Very nice ladies at this store, but proceed with caution.
I went to three bridal salons in the area on my hunt for the perfect wedding dress. The first was awesome. Second was miserable. To Have and to Hold was third and final on the list and I almost didnt want to go. I am SO glad I did. Although I did find my dream dress at the first salon I visited, I cannot say enough about how perfect my experience was with Carly. I felt 100% comfortable talking with her and trying on gowns. Their selection is GORGEOUS and abundant. I started going off my original path and trying on unique and beautiful dresses I never thought I would have liked. GO HERE if youre looking for a dress. Carly is as real as it gets! I relaxed and enjoyed myself so much here with her help.
I had the best experience with To Have and to Hold! Courtney, Carly, & their Mother Carol were all very helpful in helping me find the perfect dress for my wedding day as well as dresses for my bridesmaids. My dress was absolutely gorgeous & fit so well. They had many bridesmaid dress options & ones that were flattering to all! The prices are reasonable which is a huge plus! I recommend To Have and to Hold to any beautiful bride to be!
I had an amazing experience with To Have and To Hold! not only was this the cutest shop I went into, it was the most customer service oriented. The ladies were sweet and caring and attentive. Carol made sure every dress I tried on looked amazing and they picked dresses to tailor the styles I was leaning towards. I felt like a princess the entire time I was trying on dresses. Both women helped me in and out of my dresses and then helped with the reveal of each dress to my family and friends. I would recommend coming here first before going anywhere else in Traverse City!
This cute shop is ran by an amazing family and group of ladies. I couldnt have felt more comfortable when picking out my dress. I tried on a TON of dresses and finally found the one. Courtney was very knowledgeable on all the different kinds of dresses because I had no idea what I was looking for when I walked in. When I came back in for my fitting they made my mother and I feel so welcomed and excited for my big day :) They even were so kind to recommend a seamstress to make alternations to my dress and she did not disappoint with her work. I would recommend this beautiful bridal boutique in a heart beat to anyone, and I have.
Awesome! Great experience! Great customer service! Love all the dresses and couldnt be happier. Before coming to to have and to hold, we went to here comes the bride where the owner made awful comments telling my bridesmaid she cant gain weight and ended up making her cry! We walked in to have and to hold, and the woman working was so great! Total night and day experience. I will be recommending to have and to hold to all my bridesmaids and to all my engaged friends.
I stopped by this tiny little dress and bridal boutique in downtown Traverse specifically because it had no google reviews. Its a small store, but I was surprised by how well I was treated. The poor woman who was working there was quite busy, it being prom season and all. She got several phone calls, was organizing orders and displays, and had another bride-to-be come in while we were there, but still found time to help me zip up and indulge my odd sense of humor. I picked out 10 dresses, which I could tell agitated her a bit, though she did her best not to show it and grabbed all the dresses without a fuss. I informed her that I was only trying things on today to get a feel of what I wanted. Id been warned not to say such things, as shop owners tend to feel like youre wasting their time and can stop being as personable. She didnt seem to feel that way, however; if anything, she got nicer. The dresses were all quite large on me. If you are a tiny, petite little thing, expect to feel like you did when you were a kid, trying on mommys clothes. They were all beautiful, however, and I couldnt have been happier.I would recommend this shop to anyone planning to get married up here.
Horrible experience!!!! We walked in to ZERO greeting and as we tried several times to make eye contact with the ladies working to try to inquire if it was a store needing an appointment, no effort was made to communicate with us. After 10 minutes someone finally said, with her back to us, “Can I help you?” We responded cheerfully that we had a wedding coming up and were excited to find such a cute boutique, and she walked away without even responding!!! We have never been so RUDELY treated as a consumer and will continue to share our negative experience here. Don’t go!!!!!!
They were absolutely WONDERFUL! Everyone was so nice and so helpful, and they helped me find the perfect dress! They were there through every step and recommended the most amazing seamstress: Claudia B.!They steamed the dress before my wedding and they are helping with the preservation afterwards. I dont think I could have imagined a better place to buy a dress!THANK YOU!
The boutique is warm & inviting. Loved all the attention and private experience because you have to make an appointment. Could not have asked for a better place to purchase from.. a must try out!
When I was planning my wedding, To Have and To Hold was at the top of my list of dress shops after hearing great reviews from a friend & having purchased a bridesmaids dress there myself. When I got there, I learned it was under new ownership, but quickly felt very confident in Courtney & Carol’s knowledge of the dresses & fitting process (which I was pretty clueless about). I tried on tons of dresses & never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision. Both ladies were taking turns pulling dresses, zipping me up, & giving feedback to help me decide. When I finally found a dress I LOVED but was out of my price range, Courtney worked with me to come up with a payment plan & some creative ways to cut costs in other areas like the veil! This was the only bridal shop I went to that made it feel like a truly special experience & had the quality of dresses I was looking for. It was clean, cute, & they were extremely friendly & helpful! Thanks Courtney & Carol!!
I love going into To Have And To Holds Bridal Shop, as soon as you walk in you are greeted by the owner of the shop or by one of the fantastic sales associates. They meet all my expectations, beautiful bridal boutique. Your wedding gowns are beautiful and unique.
My niece had an awful experience here. The woman that helped her continually made statements about her body shape. My niece is an average height, weight and build. But this woman had nothing that would fit a woman with a size 12 frame. I would suggest any woman that is average size or above to move along to another bridal boutique.
These ladies are fantastic. Their attention to detail and their caring attitude truly sets them apart. I went to other bridal shops in town and nothing compared to the attentiveness of these ladies. SO HAPPY!
Could not have asked for a better experience to find and buy my wedding dress! It is an adorable boutique at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. Courtney is knowledgeable and patient and I would highly recommend visiting her for your wedding needs!
Awesome customer service great dresses and reasonable prices. One on one attention.
Love this farm market in the halls. Great little stores and cafés.
My bridal party and I went in several months ago and had the place to ourselves one Saturday. It was a great experience and Courtney helped all of us find the best dresses for the big day. She was very patient with us and even offered suggestions of what to try on. Her selection was wonderful and I cant wait to go back for the fitting!
My first visit at To Have and To Hold was wonderful. Meg was the one who helped me. She was very knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect dress. She ordered it for me and took my measurements. She let me know that the shop was changing ownership and would no longer be working there when I returned to have my dress fitted. That’s where the one star review kicks in. I received a call to “come pick up my dress whenever I had 5 minutes” and was told I could just stop by or schedule an appointment. I knew this was incorrect as the first time you see the dress is in fact a fitting. So I scheduled a fitting online for 11:30. When I arrived I was not greeted and heard the words “oh you must be Kate.” And was told I’d have to wait, which was fine as I know some appointments run long. However, my wedding dress was sitting on the rack facing the front entrance where anyone could have picked it up. Once I was able to try it on, we walked out to look at it in the mirror, while the other group was making their purchase when the lady that was SUPPOSED to be helping us very loudly said “oh I forgot they were even here.” When she FINALLY got around to “helping” us, we told her where we noticed small flaws in the dress and she told me my seamstress would have to take care of it. She finished the appointment by telling us we were “young” and putting my dress in a lovely pink plastic bag. I was astonished and COMPLETELY unimpressed. This was entirely the opposite of my initial experience. I never even had my hand shaken nor was I introduced to the woman who was supposed to be helping this feel like a special moment. Not a forgotten and inconvenient APPOINTMENT!I hope this is not something that continues to be an issue. But I would not recommend coming here to any of my “young” friends as it is apparently expected to be treated like this.
I made my appt with To Have and To Hold online (which was super easy and convenient). I had no idea what I was looking for, so I had a large entourage of 6. When I arrived, I was greeted kindly and was asked my price range, general idea, etc. Everything was explained to me, so I wouldnt have any surprises. My entourage helped me pick out some dresses and the woman who helped me was so kind and it made me feel great about the experience. My dress ended up being the first one I tried on but I was encouraged to try more, just to be sure. I felt no pressure to show anything I didnt like, no pressure to try anything outside my price range... it was an amazing experience. Lucky for me, my dress was bought off the rack (since it fit ALMOST perfect) and was on the lowest end of my budget.I was also shown different veils/hairpieces so I could see how they would look and I also found the perfect veil for my dress. Great experience that made me even more excited for my wedding!
To Have and To Hold was by far the most helpful store that I encountered while dress shopping in Traverse City. Courtney did a great job at answering my questions and found me the dress of my dreams. My dress was fit/sized perfectly and she even offered services to get my dress ready for the big day. Im so thankful that I went to To Have and To Hold!!!!
Cute shop with a great selection of dresses! You can tell Courtney truly loves what she does and takes pride in helping each and every bride find the perfect dress for them. My bridesmaids and I had a great experience at To Have and To Hold.
I had a great time when I stopped in the first time to dress shop. The lady who helped me was very kind and pulled out some beautiful dresses. My dress came in right on time. However, the dress they ordered was too small for me and would cost more money to alter to my size than a dress that was slightly too big. They refused to exchange it for a bigger size. The sleeves on my dress were damaged and I had to send it back to the designer, which took an extra week and a few hours of driving to drop off and pick up. The store owners were not the nicest to my mom and I and the other employees had no idea what was going on with my dress. I was not impressed by the lack of communication between the owners and employees. After posting this review, the owner sent me a nasty email and replied with outright lies.
Only complaint i have was my bridal consultant didnt make me feel excited but i had a wonderful time and found my dress. Such pretty dresses.
Found a nice dress for my daughter school dance at a great saving. They carry clearance bribes maids if you can find your size.
Courtney, the owner, is such a sweetheart! Highly recommend this bridal shop. Very accommodating and beautiful selection!
Excellent customer service, my wife couldnt have been more happier with the experience she had buying her dress.
Stopped in just to look at dresses and the woman working was so rude. Won’t be going back!
