It’s a small JCPenny in a older mall. The store carries mostly clothes, not as big selections as the bigger cities store.For families with kids this store will provide enough of what they will need.

This store was beyond dirty and awfully disorganized.My gf got two pictures of just a small section and we had to leave couldnt find anything in all the clutter.

They were very short on help--as is everyone these days. Store was messy and under stocked, but only because there simply is not enough hired help. All fitting rooms closed and only one register open. The employees that are there are doing their best to keep up!

Not like it used to be. Felt like it was almost getting ready to close for good.I gave it 4 stars because I did find the formal I needed very quickly although it was more than the sign said.

I am very disappointed in the Traverse City store. It is incredibly hot so obviously the ac is not working and hasn’t for some time. They don’t have enough works I’m sure due to this. I didn’t last 10mins in the store before I had to get out. and good luck finding ANYTHING! The store looks like a rummage sale. Nothing is organized by size, half the hanging clothes are kn the floor and what clothes should be folded are piled high on the tables. The floors are discussing.I wish you would have closed this store down instead of the Cadillac store. It was smaller but so much nicer.

I have shopped JCPenney forever! I drove for almost an hour to get here Ready to shop big time Left with absolutely nothing because you could not open 1 dressing room for women So frustrating So I guess I’ll by by towels etc elsewhere as well

I would have given it lower Stars, but the condition of the store is not the workers fault. Having hours of 11:00 to 5:00 during the work week and two people checking out the entire store was chaos to say the least. I went in to buy some Levis and the displays were worse than my 6-year-olds room. Not a single pair of pants was actually in the right location and presented nicely. Thankfully I was able to find two pairs as they were BOGO sale. It only took me a half an hour to find two pairs in my size.Kudos to the people who are actually working there and doing their best. Unfortunately they need some serious help and cannot get it.

Easily the most disheveled store I have ever seen. Every clothing rack was a mess, no changing rooms open, and the store was a sauna. I understand businesses are struggling to find help, but the condition of this store on 8-21-21 screamed that the store manager does not care. The lady working the checkout register was very nice and helpful, the managers of this store though should be embarrassed.

Not happy with the salon at all. 4 people sitting there doing nothing 30 minutes before close and wouldnt do a trim cut that would have taken 10 minutes. Incredibly lazy. The shelves were incredibly picked over and they closed an hour before the mall 2 weeks before school starts on a Saturday night..... This is why your store is going bankrupt.

It was too hot in the store. NO A/C. Why would I buy anything there? No people working there.

OMG, this store is an absolute dump! I wouldn’t recommend shopping here. I’ve been to nicer garage sales! My prediction is the entire JCP franchise is going down … just like the titanic!

It was appalling. Every department was messy with piles of unfolded clothes thrown all over. The checkout line was 25 people deep!

The lines to check out were long. Most of the time there was only one cashier. The cashier was friendly and most people were friendly to her too. I went through checkout twice. Had about a 20 min wait each time. 7 guest in front of me each time. Near the end of my wait a second cashier started to help. The line move much faster then. The store looks empty. Those of us in line all hope the store us not closing. We want our JC Penny in Traverse City,MI. Most people were politely patient.

I love the hair salon at JCPENNEY. They always have great ladies .

Staff is cranky that people purchase stuff from JCPenney online and try to return in the store saying it should not be done. But.... It can be. Make sure you have your emailed order/receipt or they will just look at you with a disgusted face. Also they close the doors 50 percent about 30 mins before close, which is a fire hazard. Also a nite is they close at 7pm during the weekday. Which should be posted it very big print as most people dont know that times have changed since cv-times.

They made mothers day special. The were pleasant and went out of their way to save the day. So grateful to Naomi who fixed my hair and her work partner who did an amazing job on my friends hair.

I normally like shopping at JcPenny. However; the store lately is a hot mess! Clothes everywhere, no size assortment, no employees to be found for help, literal garbage all over the floor (on my last 2 visits this was the case), and obviously an issue with the heating and cooling system. Very disappointed with the dischevalry.. looks like a rummage sale. For me this screams that non of the employees care about their work or the company.. speaks volumes.

There is no air conditioning in the store, the place is a mess and their only one cashier - perhaps you should consider a different place until a later date.

We had a lady help my mom, dad and I find my dad shirts for court. She was super helpful and even helped find some in the back. She never seemed rushy or pushy and took her time with him.

Twice in two days the standing in line to check out was awful One cashier was with a shopper that took forever and the other cashier was backed up back in the mens department. You need more cashiers. Today I stood in line for at least 30 minutes. Not a happy shopperLoved the haircut I got today in the Salon.

Good prices, friendly staff and a Sephora!!!!!! Looks like they are having an end of season clearance so a good place to hunt for bargains.

When they have the item you are looking for in stock its good place.

Went here looking for shoes. Entire department was a disaster area.

Walked in to the Mens suit department and literally had to help myself. Was in a hurry to find a suit fast for a funeral. 2 employees working across the isle from me never offered me any help even after I came to the main walkway looking for someone to assist me. I then Googled The Mens Warehouse and left. I was very well taken care of at The Mens Warehouse. Thanks J.C. Penney, from a former employee.

Went to store to p/u my order, they cant find it. The computer says its here. The next person I spoke with said the computer said it wasnt here. Store manager will call me in 2 to 3 days to credit my account.

Would not let me use my gift card because it was more than a year old (hey there, Covid)... Who knew store gift cards expired?

Order a hat and it was to small for my husband head. Try to get a return label. They told me that they did not do returned label. So I have to pay to ship it back. I been a value customer over 40 years.

One of my favorite stores

Looked like a tornado went through the place and only 1 register was open...

The place was the worse Ive ever seen it. Racks/shelves were bare and a mess. Only one register in the whole store was open with a very long line of unhappy customers. Things were not in the right places. No one around for help except one lady at perfume counter who was no help at all and the two ladies at the registers in mens department. I was not a happy customer like others who put things back and walked away. Probably wont be back. Grand Traverse Mall is getting worse and worse with stores that keep closing up.

I found only one cashier in the entire depleted store. Its quite obvious that a closure is in the works. Too bad!

Got my eyebrows waxed The lady who did my eyebrows did a very poor job she missed quite a bit had to go home and fix up what she had missed called them back and explained what she had missed told the lady on the phone I had pictures of what she missed was told that the manager was busy at the time and to give them my contact information so the manager could call me back and never got a call back so very disappointed all around. Even left a larger tip than normal out of respect for the lady who had done my eyebrows even though she wasn’t very friendly what so ever seemed like she didn’t like her job and that she just didn’t even want to be there. When I say she missed quite a bit it was very noticeable I will not be going back. The fact that I have to give a star to even write a review this doesn’t even deserve a star. So y’all tell me I’ll get a call back and never hear from y’all that’s shady and poor customer service at its finest. If your looking to get your eyebrows waxed I highly recommend not going here. Waist of your time and hard earned money.

I placed an order online to pick up in store that was cancelled by JCPENNEY a month later without any reason or update in between. The cancellation was on the 12th I have not received a refund on the 25th. After 4 phone calls, online cant help, .com cant help, in-store tells me they will issue a check (the store cant issue a PayPal refund) up to 10 days from now. This is ridiculous!

Dead or dying. Minimal selection and looked more like a clearance liquidation. Staff was working hard to make it look good, but its time to pull the plug. Empty and depressing. Get the goods while they liquidate.

Decent experience, good assortment of cosmetic items, including the Sefora. I would say that the service had been okay, if there had been more then one whole person at the store at the time being. 3 stars is still a good rating, by the way.

Penneys has always been my go-to for nice clothes. Their diamonds are easily the best in the nation as well. Competitive pricing on everything and amazing sales at the season changes. Penneys brand clothes are as good or sometimes better than name brand. Five stars.

Great place to shop for variety, and reasonably priced, Big and Tall mens clothing. This location is neat and clean.Update: visited twice in 2021 and its thinned out. The Big and Tall mens department has limited choices now. Only ONE checkout counter is used, so expect to wait in line for about 10 - 15 minutes.

They have a nice selection of tall clothing! Would be nice if they had a larger selection of tall pants at a more reasonable price point, but glad they have them.

We came here on a limb to buy a vest for my uncle’s wedding for my fiancé. We ended up buying one of the last to medium vests In store, again on a limb.. One of their employees was not paying attention and forgot to take the security tag off. Apparently their systems do not work because we left the mall with no alarm going off... With the security tag still intact we weren’t able to wear the vest to the wedding. That being said we now have a vest that is brand new with a security tag... The next day we came back I politely said what had happened, they called the manager over. Before we could even explains the situation fully she said “this is not adding up” and I’m guessing she implied that we stole this item. (We did not have the receipt I was rushing and forgot where I put it) Now at this point we are just trying to explain to this lady that we no longer care about the return we are simply trying to get the security tag removed.. this grown lady continued to be rude and said unnecessary comments.. basically told us that we stole this jacket and she not going to do anything to help. With this all being said the vest was still with tags AND ON THE HANGER (Because I didn’t want to bag it to risk it getting wrinkled..)I was very upset with this whole experience and couldn’t be more disgusted with the women you have as your manger.

Decent items. Not as quality as they used to be, but better than WalMart. I tried on 5 different pair of basic black pants in 2 different sizes and every one of them were too big in the waist. Four of them were slightly better leggings, ugh. 1 was an actual pant with no stretch with belt loops! Yaya

Employees are either rude and/or unknowledgable about the merchandise or even about what they carry. The item i was lloking for i was told they did not carry. I found it, went back and showed the employee, then left the item with him as i walked out the door, purchasing the item, less expensively, somewhere else.

Good store, great staff. I have met so many nice people who work there. If the merchandise isnt in stock, they are happy to order it, and it arrives as promised. The prices are good, the products are first rate. What more could I want?

I visited the jewelry department and was acknowledged by a sales person though waiting on a customer. Assistance was called over to jewelry to help me purchase 14k gold earrings. I received a great deal with my purchase and great customer service from both sales associates 👍😃
