Friendly atmosphere..with local live music 🎶
The crowd is always mixed and of course the drinks are on point.... a lil more girly music and that would of really made my night but everything else was great. Definitely going back 😁
Always great drinks and people..
Good vibes good people, the place is in the nice community. They also have live musical performances in the back. The talent is unbelievable. Never a dull moment
FOOD SHOULD BE SERVICED...A DJ WOULD BE NICE..ALSO BARTENDERS NEED WORK!!!!!!!
Hail the return of the Trenton punk scene! This place is not what it says on the label by any means. When I walked in I was reminded instantly of the old City Gardens punk venue that was once the lone outpost for people with no particular place to go in Trenton. There are beers for sale, books to read on the walls, the entire place is covered in band stickers or graffiti, and it feels like home. This is the basement hangout you wish you could have been invited to when you were seventeen. Low key, no aggro.
Writing this review sitting at the bar ... NOW! Champs is a place where the cross currents of the culture of The City of Trenton are free to flow. Art, culture, creativity, and acceptance are the rule of the day at Champs. Such flexibility and fluid flows if ideas and expressions may not be for everyone, but with an eye toward not leaving anyone behind, Championship is a place to find inclusion if diversity and affordable drinks are on your menu.
This is one of my two favorite dive bars in the area. The place is a great mix of area artists, drunks, musicians, creatives, punks, locals, and all manner of colorful characters. I like to visit to catch bands that play the backroom stage. Beer is cold and served without unnecessary delay.
Awesome dive, service was great. Bring your own food but two great places near by. Saw a band when I was there that was pretty popular a d the music room got hot and sweaty but the music was great. Wear that punk gear and you will fit right in
Fun good drinks
Great place! Very cool friendly atmosphere, great music bands and all around fantastic experience. Crown is artistic, lots of musicians hanging out. Punkish and alternative. Good from 18-70 year olds
Its definitely has diminished in quality since I first started going there in 2009. I just recently stop going to to the negative crowd that currently attends on the regular..
My local watering hole. Nice selection of draft beers. Gathering and meeting place for Artists of various genres and those who appreciate Art in many forms. Local and regional touring music various genres, more towards rock, punk, metal and hip hop. No food however ordering in is allowed and the surrounding comminty offers various options including Jamaican, Guatemalan, Mexican, Asian national fast food retailers, pizza and bodegas.
Very unexpected pleasant surprise. from the outside it looks like your normal dive bar. but once you walk in it has a great vibe great service and good times
Cheap booze, interesting people, good food nearby. Be prepped for loud bartenders and people who get rip roaring drunk. Good luck parking.
Great bar. Friendly people. Many artists and musicians. If youre running low, theres always a $2 mystery beer on tap.
I always love going to champs to mingle with familiar faces. Its always a pleasure going to champs. Whether you drink or not.
Go to location for all things art in the region. National, regional and local live performances of various genres. Large draft beer selection. Attached package goods store. More of a community meeting space than a bar lots of community events happen here including free used books, bicycle rides and more. No food is served here however ordering from local business is encouraged. Helpful, friendly staff. Eclectic mix of patrons from all walks of life.
Wonderful open jam session night made my week! Thanks a ton
Ive played here a multitude of times in multiple bands over the last 4 years and I have to say this is still my favorite venue to play for sure. Management is very professional and always great to work with.
The bar is located in a bad part of town. The parking is terrible. There is only one good bartender. The rest are completely inexperienced, unprofessional, and take way too long to serve drinks. This has been the case on multiple occasions. The shows are overpriced. The bathrooms are vile. The food is garbage and served on paper plates. If drink prices were cheaper then this bar wouldnt be as bad but it costs way too much considering everything else about this place is awful. If youre going out to drink in Trenton then go to The Mill Hill instead.
Beers are ice cold and the mixed drinks are strong. Great pricing on drinks. Only issue is that the sound guy sucks for live events.
The best blend of people and cultures ive ever seen in a local bar. Always a good time.
Just a bar now . No food. But, great evenings like Monday art nite. Stop in its a fun time.
Champs is cool! Like others have said, its an all around good vibe. Theyve usually got something fun going on - check out their Facebook for events.
The community there is fun and they do a smash ultimate tourney every month which is awesome
Small venue, but great for shows. Cool bat and good people
One of two great bars in Trenton (the other is Trenton Social). This is where the tatoo artists, bike mechanics, and hard core rockers hang out. That said, its an amazingly friendly place. Its the only BYOF bar I know (bring your own food). Go. Tonight.
Champs is best bar in the city to catch a rock show. Bunch of graffiti, art and character reminds me of the rock clubs of NYC in the 80s.
Great atmosphere and $2 mystery beers are a great way to ensure I stay around even on a budget.
This place is in Trenton which can be scary... but awesome bartenders and patrons make it worth it. Open to all - in an environment where you dont have to wory about any type.of discrimination / isms. Great live music at the backstage - definitely an awesome Dive Bar
Ok spot. Little dangerous to hangout. Security is the best thing there
Big 🍸
Mondays Art Night is the best for unwinding. You get to color & have a drink
Amazing people!. Service is outstanding.
Very chill vibe. had an awesome open mic there
Great music. Great beer. Entertaining staff.
Came here for friends kids band live performance!! The neighborhood is not a safe area. The bar is OK. It features live band music but most of the bands are rookies. It doesnt mean they are not good but it just has no guarantee for quality!! One time is good enough!!
Love my friend Lori. I stopped in and had a beer while I picked up my new I Am Trenton t shirt...nice crowd and pool table and Monday night Art all at the bar.
An incredible place to both play and see a show. Bring back the kitchen and youll get 5 stars.
This place is just so much fun the environment and everything about it is the pinnacle of punk
Great venue to see shows and decent bar on regular nights.
This place has been an integral aspect of the Trenton community and music scene for a long time, beer is cheap, everyone’s friendly. Always enjoy myself here
I love i can drink n find some awesome books
The drinks were amazing and very well served.
Best bar around trenton, the people, the atmosphere, the events it hold are all for the common people and the talented ones.
Nice place to hang out with friends
I deliverd food here the place was dirty out side and ugly pepole blocking the door
Dont go there often anymore. Went there recently and the bartender is an as*hole. He called last all at 1:15 am on a Saturday night and with only a few people in the bar. I deposited $4 in the juke box and didnt hear my songs. The jerk stop my music from playing at 1:30 simply because I questioned why did he call last call so early. I wasted my $4 in the juke box and only heard half of one song Because I kept saying how the hell can he just stop somebody music. So freaking rude and disrespectful. I used to like Champions Bar but because of him I will never go there again. And I have made sure to tell people I know that goes there how nasty he was. When I told him Im going to complain to the owner he said he doesnt and gladly gave me the the managers name and when I can find him. Other people in the bar told me that nothing will happen if I complain because they DONT CARE. Of all the years Ive been going to Champions this is the first as*hole Ive seen bartend there. He even posed for his picture for me to show when I complain. So Im guessing this as*hole might be the owner after all and thats why he doesnt care.
I thought it was great for giving bands a chance & a place to play
Best place in NJ to hold a concert and have a blast!
Good sized venue and bar with pool tables
The people are way to strange dont really stop in no longer
I love this bar. My favorite in the city of Trenton by far. The music is great and the people are awesome! I like to z)ne and listen to the bands. The accomodations there are great.
Amazing all around place excellent service
Me And My Cuzi Jabri Billups Had A Pretty Good Time There 4sho
All around great place great people . If u havent been here u need to make it happen . Come one come all
Abrasive in the best possible way.
Great vibe and they even have a piano for me to play!!!
Cool place for pool and drinks very friendly
Wow fun times always here
Good rock music .....best place on trenton for people who loves rock and beers
It was cool, cozy, and something diffrent.
Hipster heaven. Mike P is wrong. Its actually in a good part of town. It just happens to be in Trenton.
Good shows and cheap beer.
Arguably the best beer selection in the city.
Alright bar not crowded on a Monday never been on a weekend
Has a good neighborhood feeling!
Always a great time here..
Love it 😍 thats my home
Awesome place to unwind and ART NIGHT
Love them great ppl great .
Where the music scene lives in Trenton! Well half of it anyway. The other half would be at the Mill. But Champs is definitely the better half. The stage is bigger and they even have a SNES, N64, AND the Sega Genesis right at the bar! I drop in for a brew after work and get my classic game on all the time lol. Champs has an all around better vibe than many other places. Not that the Mill is bad but I live a block away from the Mill and Id still go to Champs lol. The staff and company are all very chill and friendly and theyre all musicians, artists and modern day philosophers. The drinks are good and the beers are ALWAYS cold. Favorite bar by far, Champs gets 5 stars!
Always a good time. No drama! :)
Great atmosphere, nice people behind the bar, pool tables, wings Jukebox!
Bartenders are awesome and art night is fun and enjoyable
Amazing wings in an even better atmosphere
Dive bar in gritty, crime prone area. Street parking. Live music hosted in the back room by a separate promotion group. Dirty and loud. Attracts lower class clientel.
My favorite bar in town! Tattoo artists, bike mechanics, rockers all hang out here and get along with each other.
Best place in the city
Saw a bunch of bands there, pretty awesome
Great live music. Back stage is a little unkempt.
Great shows and great people.
Not a bad music venue
Great place to chill
Nice local bar
No longer a sports bar. No more meals.
Best Dive Bar in the area
A fun place
Pretty nice place
Super chill place
Art, music and Culture..💪😎
Good place A+++++
Very awesome
