Took a cooking class for date night, disappointed. Wasnt hands on, the tasks were split between 8 and the instructor did alot. They were nice and the food was yummy but dont expect a meal, more like an appetizer. Something new but too expensive for what you get and do.
This Troy Somerset location is so disappointing and shouldn’t be in the same class comparison to Williams Sonoma or even other full service kitchen/cooking supplies stores. The attitude of the service people and managers in this store needs so much help; from condescending comments to unwillingness to assist a customer that came to spend money on his wife.
Terrific in-store customer service! This made finding specific items a breeze, and browsing is very fun also. The selection of cookbooks is small but topically-broad. Fantastic place to get a foodie a gift card!
Nice people, happy to help and explain their merchandise.
So much fun! Dessert was so yummy 😋
Bought the z6 jura coffee maker just a heads up if you do purchase one of their coffee makers. They are good but when they need repair beware of the following: if you are in the warranty you are good. Once out of warranty and you need to send out for repair they charge you$355 and to give you another 1 year warranty it costs$220. Keep that date because if you dont renew warranty before 1 year is over then its starts all over again where you pay $355 plus$220 if you send out for repair. But normally you will pay$220 per year to have warranty extended. They dont send out renewal reminders. If send out for repair it takes at least a week to get it back so be prepared for that as well.
Shelley was fantastic! I’ll admit it - I’m a clueless bloke when it comes to the kitchen. I was buying a valentines gift for my fiancée, who is a cooking goddess. Shelley helped talk me through all the options that Sur La Table has for Le Creuset (my fiancée’s favorite). Shelley was very knowledgeable, friendly and sweet. Guys : ask for Shelley and she will help you find the perfect thing!
My boyfriend and I surprised my mother with a date night cooking class for Christmas and we were so very excited to attend the date night class this past weekend. The whole experience was sub par and the Manager was more worried about her coupon being wrong than actually have a great introduction to the evening. We were hardly taught anything useful about cooking and it was the most hands off experience of cooking I have ever encountered. We didnt even get to plate or finish anything we made and also did not get to eat the food we prepared ourselves. Everything was mixed so we could have been eating the other tables cross contaminated food for all I knew. During our break, the manager was very curt to us as my mother asked to try out a knife but was rudely told no. During the actual dinner, the 3 of us didnt even get to sit together either. The whole experience was very disappointing so during my survey, I shared very similar comments and asked to be contacted. Bad idea... I was contacted by a generic email that Im sure was computer generated asking for my feedback. Of course this made me even more displeased because I spent a good amount of time giving constructive feedback on the survey which obviously no one read. For a company that prides themselves on service and high standards, its sad a real person couldnt even contact a dissatisfied guest. Dont waste your time or money here and find a place that will appreciate you and the money you spent at their facility.
Took a class. Bought some items. Exvellent
Can find anything, especially if you are not looking for it.
My review is based solely on my experience with this store’s manager. I visited this location in order to seek resolution of a matter that I was experiencing with an order made through the Sur La Table website (aka with the company directly).Despite my issue having nothing to do with items purchased at this location, I was nonetheless offered assistance by the store’s manager, Erika.Let me say unequivocally that Erika was the most professional and dutiful manager I’ve ever come across in the innumerable interactions and experiences I’ve had with the service industry during my lifetime.Though it was profoundly evident to both of us that my issue was with Sur La Table’s direct company protocol and service, and not with her store specifically, she took it upon herself to help resolve my issue and did so in an exemplary manner. If you’ve ever had an experience with someone when you’ve walked away thinking “That person is good at their job”, then you would understand my experience with Erika. Many plaudits to Sur La Table for having the wits to hire an employee of this caliber—though it can be said that my experience with the company directly left something to be desired—but that’s neither here nor there. All’s well than ends well and thanks to Erika, it ended well.
I have taken two cooking classes here. The first one was with Olivia. She was amazing! Very sweet and very patient. The second class was with Ellen. She was very rude and nasty to all the members in our class, and was making snarky comments and rushing the class along. She also gave us copies of our recipes, but the toner was out on the printer and they barely showed up on the paper. I would love to come back and take another class, but I would make sure it wasn’t with Ellen.
Attentive to the Customers ..Very Well.
I never have problem with them until I went there and wanted to return something. The lady’s attitude was mean, I was not happy with their service.
This is one of my happy places. I love the people, the inspiration, the offers of fancy coffee to sip, the wonderland of kitchen wares & gizmos, the lovely olive oil, and the generous return policies.
The prices are a little high when it comes to their kitchen wares, so its good to look for their sales. Their cooking classes however are reasonably priced and are fun to do.
Great experience taking a cooking class with Chef Lauren Linden! Youll leave with a new understanding of your kitchen tools and a much better technique.
I love this place! They have everything kitchen, and a demonstration kitchen with a boat load of cooking classes.
This place is such a joke, in particular the Somerset location. They charge $70+ for a class and usually rush you, portion everything like its coming out of their paychecks and are rude. The chefs act like they are Wolf Gang Puck or something.I have been to several classes here and they are just organized so poorly for the price you pay, (ie a group reservation for 4 people are split in to two tables on opposite sides of the room with strangers instead of sitting together). They make you mix things with strangers (like a sushi class where a table of 4 strangers soaks their hands in the same bowl?! Disgusting!). Their main concern is pushing the sale of their tools in the store.Today was an exceptionally unpleasant experience since we didnt even get to take the class! My husband got us this class for christmas for us to make croissants before our trip to Europe. Our kids are older but not 18 and they manager/chef Shelley wouldnt let us take the class saying that the other people in the class would be upset that there were children there. Well you know what? my kids have taken your kids classes and they are horrible! They basically are $100 and let the kids put sprinkles on a frosted cake. Not to mention they only have kids classes during spring break or summer time. My kids are very mature and would not have caused any problems. They have taken several advanced cooking classes with adults prior to this Sur La Table class. I guess you guys must be doing pretty well since you dont want our $280!Not that I thought your classes were very great before but now I definitely will not be returning there again! Also thinking about canceling the group class we have scheduled for our company there.Do yourself a favor and look into other local classes that are less expensive, more inclusive, cleanly, and the instructors treat you better!
Autumn in Tuscany was fun and delicious. Chef Victor was very informative.
