This was the best beverage center in the capital region until it went under new management. The best part of this store was the ability to mix and match any beer from any package and make a custom six pack. We would drive from farther away because we loved that option. Now that it’s not an option, there’s no reason to go here. Nothing special about this store anymore and pretty disappointed with the new owners. Skip it.
I see they are making this into a head shop too. New ownership? Has decent selection, but like many other places I dont feel they stock the beer correctly. Many of these independent brewers want their product to stay cold and they just leave them on the shelves. Decent selection dominated by IPAs. Can mix and match, but careful because it adds up quick. I grabbed two four packs of mixed 16oz and it came to $44 and change. 22 a four pack is a bit steep.
Great beer variety. Mostly clean store. I kinda liked the old set up better but its not bad now.
Great place in Troy right across from the Hilton Garden inn. Stopped in today on the way back to Maine. An impressive selection of local and imported brews. They were super helpful in navigating all the local beers and getting some choice selections.Especially great: They split packs into singles! Try a beer without spending 20 bucks on a 4-pack!
WTF.. A great beer store RUINED by new owners. Minus 10 stars. Stay away! The passion previous owners had for beer is gone. The counter/cashier person barely looked up when I entered the store. No more advice or questions about what you might like to try or find. Found out why that was when I checked out. He didnt speak English. Literally! Bought out by god knows who, this is now just another chain store selling beer. Huge disappointment, NEVER,EVER going back. From now on its going to be Westmere Beverage, Olivers, and Pint Sized. They still have the love and passion for beer along with a great selection.
Shopped here for 5+ years, store recently changed owners in the end of 2019. They appeared to have much of the same beers. However the receipt was a different business name and the building does not appear to have changed names externally yet. Did not know of or accept any of the previous businesses, Hoosic street beverage centers, reward cards stuff. Old reviews may not reflect the current owners/establishment.
This store used to be great when the previous management owned it. These days? Dont waste your time.
ZERO stars if I could. What in the hell happened here? How can you run a beer store that barely has any beer? Basically no inventory, a surly staff, and irked (dwindling amounts of) customers. Theyll be out of business by summer at this rate - theres only so many college bros to buy that run-of-the-mill swill theyre now stocking. take your beer money elsewhere.
This place used to be great. In the last few months it has been a HuGe disappointment. I bought a certain malt bevarage drink there for several months. The last time I was there, it was out of stock, and no employee even heard of it, or knew what it was, or how to get it. With all do respect, the language barrier made it almost impossible to communicate.
After driving 3 hours from Boston to the area for a concert. we used our phones to find this store in order to try and acquire some local and non-local craft beer. This place was one of the first results and had good ratings, and so we proceeded right over.We easily parked in their private lot and walked right in. The store is great, big and has plenty of good stuff. From New England Brewing Cos Gandhi Bot to New Hollands Poet oatmeal stout and many more in between. Micros and macros of all sorts, in bombers, in bottles, in cans, you name it. They have a great selection, and its very well laid out in the store. They also have stacks of macros and a refrigerated section as well. The staff is very friendly and was helpful with some guidance and advice. Also kudos to their Belgian section which is very well stocked. All in all, a terrific craft beer store.
This place has been sold, new owners have given up any sense of customer service. In a large beverage store, customer demand drives sales and a knowledgeable staff directs customers to inventory. This place didnt have cold Guinness on St. Patricks day after work. Guy behind the counter had zero interest in anyone in the store or leaving behind the counter for a prospective sale. D- probably wont be back.
Overpriced, even for the basics. 18 pack of Heineken that is $15-$16 at price chopper sold for over $21 here, 4 packs of cider that are $10 everywhere else being sold for $14-$15..kind of a shame since a beer distributor should at least be competitive on their prices. Get it together!!
Greg and his crew are always great. Great selection and always a ton of actual cold beer.
Their selection is top notch and their prices are good. The staff are always helpful and are willing to help you find what you are looking for. They regularly get stock of some of the most sought after beers out there and are very cool about selling it to you.
Was my go-to store for 8+ years. Unfortunately, since the change in ownership, the shelves have been half-empty and calling the clerk inattentive, would be a compliment.
Excellent selection of beers! Literally a small warehouse in downtown Troy. I personally enjoy the pick six. Its a great way to Troy some of their great variety.
Great selection, great beers, and good hours. Always very accommodating. Greg and his crew know how to to hold it down
Always friendly and knowledgeable! Best variety this side of the river and staff to help you find a beer you will love!
Best prices and selection in town and you can mix and match....
Was awesome, something has changed...
Good place if you like getting drunk. If you dont well thats too bad
Helpful and friendly staff, competitive prices and good selection. And you can buy by the bottle/can!
Good selection of beers. Takes return of all bottles. Friendly place.
I once was buying a case of yeungs for a party, and had stopped by price chopper first, where it was on sale for 18 dollars. I figured it would be cheaper at hoobev and went down there after getting what we needed at the grocery store. We got there to find the price was $21. I commented to one of my friends that it was cheaper at the chopper. The cashier immediately dropped his price to 18, saying Id rather lose money on every case of beer than have you ever shop at Price Chopper again. Now, I dont think they make price matching a part of their usual business plan, but that one moment has ensured I will never buy beer anywhere else.
Knowledgeable staff excellent selection
Best selection, great prices
Excellent to do business with
