Absolutely amazing coffee shop that i can’t recommend enough! definitely my all time favorite. drinks are very reasonably priced and i’ve never had something i didn’t like. staff is very friendly, drinks are served quickly, and i love the atmosphere. the upstairs area is an awesome place to hang out or study. i LOVE black crown and will definitely be coming back often!! :)

Cute and cozy, just how you would want a coffee shop! I was happy to find them just passing through town. Staff was cheerful and the coffee was amazing. I had what they called the spork. No pics, I drank it too fast.

For all the people that dont work 9 to 5 this place is open late. Are you tired of coffee shops that close at 2pm 5pm? This place is open till 12am. I come in very often and many of the employees actually remember what my regular is, and they are always super nice. You can come in and play games, sit outside and enjoy the view, or simply sit and study. It’s a nice quaint place that has a cozy feel to it and I’ve been going there for a long time. They have a lot of options for drinks and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a local coffee shop.

Extremely affordable! Spent like,,, $13 on three (large) drinks and a chocolate muffin.The teas i got (Prickly pear and Blackberry sage) were lovely and the Italian soda (blood orange) was to die for.The staff was super nice as well and made sure that all the tables upstairs and downstairs were sanitized and even had little signs to tell you if they were or not.Please support this small business theyre so cool and good and just overall a great place to hangout. Heck they even played both Hozier and Florence + The Machine on the radio. Absolute Kings + Queens

I like the atmosphere. The drink I tried was a black widow, and it was delicious. The only thing for me is that the cashier who served me didn’t speak louder when I couldn’t hear her and didn’t announce my drink at the counter. Parking and seating is super limited but it is a locally owned place and it’s popular!

Love the grunge/industrial vibe here. The service is always welcoming and the people cool. There’s even a loft for some quiet studying/reading or even to have a peaceful lounge.

Favorite place for a black americano and also the red eye. Im not usually into sweet coffee drinks but my wife got the Spork which I tasted and that was a ridiculously good frap

Small town coffee shop feel, full of daily visitors and creative types. The coffee is reasonably priced and their front patio gives you a great chance to sip and people watch. Definitely one of the better hangouts for coffee.

Ive always loved Black Crown and never had a bad experience until Sunday 7/18. I went to get a coffee like I had many mornings ago. Some folks were sitting inside minding their business. Then suddenly some old white man came in, and approached another man sitting alone in a booth reading a book and sipping his drink. This old man started berating him and telling this guy trying to read a book all of his military credentials. The guy reading the book looked up from his book, and thanked the old man for his service, and stated that he had also served. This somehow further angered the old man who decided to state all the things he hated about various latino gangs. The guy reading his book tried to nicely plead to return to his book. The old man grunted and took the booth beside his. I asked the person making coffee if they were watching this exchange. It was clear they were kinda distracted, but then they finished making a drink, and I tried to fill them in and ask if they were going to say anything to make the patron who was sitting inside reading feel safer. The person making the coffee said that if it didnt escalate there was nothing they could do. I was so disappointed. I was just in and out getting a coffee, but I hope that patron felt safe having another customer who just verbally abused them sit down in the next booth.

Amazing as always, never steered me wrong, go with menu items over a custom item, theres a reason why theyre the customer favorites, some items are sugar free, be sure to ask. Best spot for late night coffee cravings 🖤👑

Have been coming here frequently. It is a great coffee shop where you can enjoy the coffee, tea, or whatever other option that fancies you that they have to offer. I typically get the iced chai tea which seems to be my go to. If you have work to do, want yo get out of your house to study in a different environment, or simply want a place to relax or chat with friends this is nice cozy place to come to. The upstairs is nice too.

I appreciate the kind of Seattle/Portland vibe of this place. The specialty drinks that I have had are delicious. The Black widow and the dark matter can always be reliable choices.

Wonderful, local, down to earth coffee shop. Their beans are the only ones we use to make our daily coffee! I love going in and trying their featured drink. My favorite has to be gingersnap latte or the brown thunder! Friendly staff and I appreciate their covid precautions. If you’re in the area, pop in for a drink and grab a bad of beans!

If you knew what this place used to be you would realize its light-years beyond what it used to be under previous ownership. I started coming around 99 when it was SH. I since moved to New Orleans and am visiting back.... Havent been inside this place in twelve years but the improvements are vast in cleanliness and quality. (theres no Aaron either... :P, **zing**!!) Coffee got better too. The covid precautions are a nice touch as well.

Used to be the Safehouse, and it still offers the hospitality, relaxed environment, cozy facility, and the warmth that only a solid brew of coffee can offer. Their been changes monthly and sometimes even have the previous months blend, if you ask. Cool upstairs area, patio, and local bulletin keeps the vibe intimate yet private if you just want a drink and work on you laptop.

Sometimes has limited seating during peak times but the coffee and drink selection is great. Low key place. You can’t sit for free, they ask you to buy a drink, but you can bring outside food in if you want. Bring your punch card every time to get a free drink. They care about sustainability and don’t use single use plastics as far as I can see.

No emphasis on lots of varietals or boutique brewing methods, which is fine because Black Crown is good at what they do.Unrelated to their coffee, low-clearance vehicles might want to avoid the alley in the back due to the uneven gravel and divots.

The coffee was excellent! Space was unique with enough nooks & crannies that even when it was full you felt comfortable & had some privacy

Smaller place but has a cool vibe, social distancing protocols followed. They have a pretty diverse menu with a lot of interesting mixed of drinks. Very helpful and fast.

Back home I was a daily dweller of my local coffee shop. I’ve been to a few different shops in town after moving 3000 miles from home and this one is BY FAR the absolute best in town. Their coffee is perfection and it comforts me with the reminder of home ❤️Don’t look anywhere else, this is the spot!

I could spend hours here~the environment is just delightful, with a large lobby and loft. There are quite a few outlets, so its a good place to work for a while or catch up with some friends. Quality coffee, tea, and pastries.

I love this place so much!! The parking is a bit tight, but you get amazing coffee, amazing atmosphere, and amazing service for a very low price! The staff is always super friendly and Ive never had a bad coffee (or tea!) here! The Black Widow is my favorite, wonderfully brewed coffee with a cherry taste! Sounds weird, but its honestly the best coffee Ive ever had. This place makes you feel at home and I recommend this to everyone who asks for a coffee shop!

Always a great experience at Black Crown. The specialty drinks are full of flavor and never have an artificial taste like other coffee shops do at times. Staff is always polite and quick to make drinks, theyre great to ask for a recommendation too! Parking can be tight, but overall this is one of the coolest looking coffee shops in Tucson with the two story structure and dark wood.

Its a nice shop and close by. I love sweet caramel drinks and their Spork drink is amaaaazazing. My husband got their flagship drink and the espresso flavor is great. Definitely gotta keep coming back.

Probably one of the best/cutest coffee shops Ive been too in a long time. The aesthetics of this place is a young adult/college student paradise. I tried the Turbo Coke (espresso + coke) out of pure curiosity and let me tell you, not only was it deliciously interesting, but its true to its name. I started drinking this baby at 11pm, I am writing this review at 2:50am completely wide awake. The perfect drink for an all-nighter!

Seriously have no words to describe how amazing this place was. Being that this was my first time visiting here back couple of days ago I have to say this is my favorite coffee joint in tucson ♡. Got to check out this place with a couple of friends from Northern California who are coffee lovers and they truly fell in love with this place. I got to taste the breast milk iced coffee which was amazing as well as the black widow latte both amazing . Excellent espresso and coffee

Coffee is delicious and if you need a place to just hide out for an hour or two, head upstairs and watch the cars on Speedway go by while sipping your drink from one of the comfortable old couches. Perfectly relaxing.7/8 updateI was back on this side of town yesterday and decided to pop in after a disastrous experience with a different coffee shop. I was greeted with a smile and a patient explanation of the updated menu. I worked at a booth for a while and enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere and some delicious tea. Still my favorite in town.

Fun ambience, open late, and has reasonably priced options! I was cheap and just got the hot, prickly pear tea, but it was quite nice. Also, unlimited free hot water for my tea bag (which is nice if you like to get every last drop out of your tea) and if I had wanted more tea bags for refills it was just a dollar per each new bag. Very reasonable.

Ive been coming here for a good while now. I literally got married in the back. Its my home away from home. Favorite place to go. Great music, amazing drinks and some of the friendliest faces behind the counter. If you can find a chair take it and relax with the many others you find doing the same. Even the people here are very friendly costumer wise.

Black Crown is a wonderful atmosphere with really good coffee at reasonable coffee shop prices. Their specialty drinks are so good! Comfy seating upstairs, booths, tables, and much more. Outlets for laptops and chargers everywhere so you can settle in and really get work done! If you like light, sweet, and frosty coffee, I recommend the Spork drink!

This is my favorite place to get coffee they have a great atmosphere to hangout with friends and interesting art work on the wall that you can buy from local artists. Their coffee has a fresh and delicious taste that I havent found anywhere else. I recommend Black Crown to all my friends and would say its definitely a coffee place you should try.

Open late and a safe haven. Theres a homey feeling to the place. A spiral staircase that leads up to the loft, a couch, games, outdoor seating. The place is plastered with posters about local events and community resources.Formerly known as Safehouse.

I would highly recommend this place to others. I had an amazing coffee on my way to work! They have great prices and pleasant service. The experience here was very positive.

They dont just have really fantastic coffee theyre able to tell me which coffee Ill love. The first night I had Guatemalan and the second I had Ethiopian. It was the most delicious coffee I have had in my life (66 years). Do not deprive yourself of this joyous experience.

Ive lived nearby for years but hadnt stopped in here until tonight. Wish Id visited this unique neighborhood coffee shop sooner. Ill be back! If youre looking for a cookie cutter Starbucks dont come here. But if you want a laid back place to get some caffeine then you should try Black Crown.

One of the best coffee places in Tucson. Great vibe and lots of personality. Definitely not trying to be Starbucks. Also doubles as a biker coffee joint, so its cool as hell. If you arent feeling that then stick with the Strawberry Frappes at Starbucks.

My husband and I are on a quest to explore our home town by trying local eateries and coffee shops. Our first trip to Black Crown did not disappoint. My husband had their Turbo Coke. It is what it sounds like it could be; Coke with a shot of espresso. Theres a fun little chemical reaction when the two mix and I think its his new favorite. I had one of their espresso drinks and loved the finish of the beans. They had some fresh baked pastries and some that were not, but we were promised they will be expanding the fresh baked selection soon. Beans are roasted onsite. Atmosphere is chill and comfortable. From the outside the place looks small but once inside theres plenty of seating. Three distinct inside areas including a second story loft, as well as outdoor seating. We will be back. I would give 5 stars if there was a better fresh baked selection and plates/utensils, even if disposable. Definitely recommend.

This place has awesome iced coffee! If you have a sweet tooth, order this drink called breast milk. It was so good. I like the whole vibe of the place too. Upstairs, they have board games to play if youre with other people. They offer a military discount, which I really appreciate! Ill definitely be going back.

Really hip, quirky, and popular coffee shop. Art all over the walls and extremely unique architecture and asthetics. Really cool loft and couch area upstairs where people play games and chill. One of the few original coffee houses in Tucson!

Made a pit stop here while on my way moving cross country. I knew this place as The Safe House while growing up in Tucson. Im really glad to see that the vibe is still alive despite the change of name and owners. The coffee is still as good as ever. Makes me want to stay in Tucson a few extra days for that alone. Though the random people that you can meet here are awesome as well.

Black Crown Coffee is a wonderful, chill place to get some great drinks and relax. A very charming atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Everything is clean as well! The drink selection is excellent, with the Coconut Mocha being my personal favorite. If youre looking for a nice place to stop and get a drink, this is certainly the one.

Always love this place. Its chill and there are games. One of the best lattes going, though I am a huge fan of the Tarheel. Going upstairs and watching Speedway go by is a treat.

Great coffee just great

Although the place has changed over the years, I still find myself drawn to it occasionally. I dont frequently visit these days life has taken me different places. The building itself holds a special place in my heart. The drinks are all great, and the staff making these creations for you are always wonderful conversationalists. If you want a great cup of something caffeinated and you want a different environment than that of your local posh Starbucks go check them out and see what your missing.
