One of the finest outdoor stores in the country with a full range of high-end products and excellent customer service. You won’t get this kind of service from REI. That’s why I shop here because often this is semi technical gear and these people know their stuff especially the senior ones

First time I see used shoes for sale in a store that is not a second hand store.

Really like how this place is laid out. And although we didnt buy anything this time, this store has the best supply of Hydro Flask merchandise. My family has been customers of this brand before it got super popular and its good to know we can get stuff for the HF here.

After buying running shoes and SuperFeet insoles and using them for a while, I found that I was consistently experiencing foot fatigue and significant pain due to the high arches on the insoles. After explaining the situation to Dylan and that I felt I did not get the right guidance when choosing the shoes and insoles, he asked me to come in to the store with the shoes and insoles. Upon arriving Dylan greeted me and had an experiences sales associate evaluate my feet, arches, and size taking the time to have me look at a variety of other options. They replaced the used insoles and shoes at no cost, exceeding my expectations and giving me confidence again that SH is the best store in town for clothing and technical gear if you want well trained and experienced staff to get you into the right gear, and great customer service. Great selection and very creative layout. They have a lot of unique colors and styles that the bigger box stores do not. Personalized help when you need it. Its always a fun place to escape the heat and skim through the hand picked selection of my favorite gear.

It pains me to leave this review, because I WANT to like this store, but I must be honest. Theres absolutely zero value in shopping here. They have no rewards program. I asked one of their staff about it the last time I went and they simply said, Nope. I bought a t-shirt because I felt guilty about going in and not buying anything. OK, so maybe they have sales sometimes? Big deal. Everyone has sales. Thats retail 101. But WHY should I shop here versus another larger retailer that gives me dividends for everything I purchase AND has a return policy far superior? If they could demonstrate these factors, then I might be a customer. Until then, Im not a fan. Convenience is the only thing they have as an advantage, and thats not enough for me.

We have had the best results anyone could ever expect from an outdoor outfitter. They apply all their expertise to ensuring you get the best gear that is right for you. Special kudos for Tracey at Summit Hut who I now call the boot whisperer. Foot gear is most important for hiking. Tracey made sure I tried at least three different brands, to make sure I had the right boot. But that wasnt enough. She then went through three different orthotic inserts to get the one right for my feet. Lastly, because one foot had a tendency to lift in the heel, it was slightly different from the other foot, she showed me how to tie a Sherpa knot that took the wiggle out of the fit. She personifies expertise and great customer service. Ill now buy all my outdoor needs at Summit Hut. Well done Tracey and well done Summit Hut!

Went to this gem of a shop looking for some hiking boots. From the moment I walked in I was greeted and pointed in the direction of the boots. While I was looking an associate Kat came over to check in on us. She was amazing, from all of her knowledge to answering any questions we had. She brought us multiple pairs of boots to try and helped us decide on the pair of boots that would best suite our outdoor needs. If your in need of any outdoor supplies, give Summit Hut your business and you wont be disappointed when you shop local!!

Super helpful employees care about your fun, safe hiking experience, not making a sale. But they have a great return policy on new hiking shoes, as well as carrying wool socks that have a lifetime replacement for wearing them out. You get what you pay for here, and Ill be returning!!

Got a decent pair of boots here which is what I came for. The selection may be a bit sparse depending on what outdoor equipment youre looking for but for my purposes it was perfect.

Summit Hut has such a great professional variety of outdoor gear. The people working there are so relaxed and so knowledgeable that I constantly come back to this place versus some of the other high-end outdoor stores.

I called summit hut for a certain hat... She referred me to come in and she says we have them all. All types, colors and styles... I came in 25 mins later, found the certain hat... Wasnt there... She lied to me.not coming back again

Locally owned and operated, Summit Hut has all of your outdoor gear needs covered. Boots, backpacks, jackets, rock climbing gear, helmets, lights, sleeping bags and much much more all in one store. They even have a mock airplane cabin so you can test how luggage and bags will fit for travel. The staff is friendly and I dont feel like they are hounding me for a sale. They are also knowledgable about their products and I feel the store only sells stuff they would trust or use themselves. Would definitely suggest them as the go to outdoor outfitter for Tucson.

Friendly service and well stocked with whatever gets your adrenaline pumping .. Lots of clothing, hats, gloves, not to much for the larger of us that I saw but if needed Im sure they would order it for you.. Location is the only thing for me but if thats the worst thing then its nothing for concern..

The staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I came in looking for a pair of hiking boots after my girlfriend had purchased a pair 4 days earlier. The young lady who helped me had just graduated from college and helped me choose the right boot. The price was great. I can see why this locally owned store has been around for so long. Will continue to shop there.

We went in to look at boots and Kelsey went above and beyond to help us find winter wear. She thoroughly explained everything that we would need to buy with no pressure. She was incredibly knowledgeable and super sweet. Absolutely an amazing experience 10 out of 10 will be shopping there again.

One might easily spend 100+ USD on just one small bag of tricks within mere moments inside this pricy yet entertaining gallery of outdoor gear and camping gadgetry, but because theyve chosen to close their public restrooms blaming the pandemic, and because the customer service around the aisles is near nonexistent (though they cant be too busy tidying up the loos anymore now can they?) plus the young man at checkout was grumpy, testy, dour and sarcastic) we wont be back ever!

I have shopped here several times and always enjoyed the experience. Good service, good products, fair prices. Had a staffer named Chappy go above and beyond recently. I walked in right at closing, not knowing they were closing, and he kindly took the time to help me find what I needed but did not rush me or make me feel anything but welcome, even though it took more than just a few minutes. Great customer service and I am also very happy with the product he helped me find, which I needed his expert opinion on. Thank you Chappy and Summit Hut!

I found myself in a bind, and needed a carabiner one afternoon, one that was weight rated. Swung in for for what should have been a 2 minute trip. The guy in front of me in line probably left a *great* review, but cant comment positive here. Dave, at the register spent 8 minutes telling the *one* other customer in the store, who already checked out about various trails. Unprofessional... Tell him to standby the 45 seconds it would have taken to get me on my way... I almost left, probably should have... Certainly wont be back or suggest to others.

Went to get hiking boots for a hike of the Grand Canyon. I know nothing about what is needed. I was so pleased with the attention and help I received. Never any pressure to hurry or to purchase. The time spent was crazy-several different brands until I found what was perfect. Then went to REI to check inventory and prices and the service was horrible, price of boots I purchased at Summit Hut were 30 dollars less than at REI.Summit Hut is now my Go to Place going forward.

Im so happy I found this place! Its a great (local!) gear shop. The people who work here are down-to-earth, helpful, and knowledgeable. They are always kind to me and my kids. The products they sell here are high quality and will last a long time so I find them reasonably priced as well.

Great local shop with a better than REI feel. I wish they had a canoe/kayak section but when space is limited sacrifices have to be made.

This place is sooooooo much better than REI. They had so many more options in different brands. I wished that REI would carry what Summit Hut does. I was able to find hats for both of my toddler boys, a sweet Salomon running pack for myself and tons of clothes that we haven’t seen any where else but the internet.

The customer service was great found a pair of shoes that I wasnt looking for.

I am not a hiker nor an outdoors person in any shape or form. But when I received the Summit Hut gift catalog there were a free items I specifically wanted to purchase as gifts. Unfortunately, the friendly salesperson said that those catalog items were not going to be available and they were substituting other items. Not what I wanted and now I have to order online. Nevertheless, Summit Hut is a wonderful place to shop for those outdoorsy people you might know! Just not me....

This is a cool little store in the desert. I come here to buy my high quality hiking shoes here and other random things. The service is good also. They seem to train their employees more than other places, in a good way . Ive been going here for a long time ...like 20 years !!! I recommend it for sure.

Very friendly staff and the free 9am yoga class on Fridays is the best! They can only take 15 people and slots do fill up! They also have some really funky workout clothes and outdoor equipment.

Picked up a Tilley hat and some vibram v trails. very happy with my purchase and will bring more business back to these people because their return policy and exchange policy are very customer-oriented. Also the people working there offer to help in a way that is human and not impersonal.Edit: hard as hell to get help when you need it

Thanks to their excellent customer service and quality products, Summit Hut is my go-to. Im a wildlife biologist. I need tough shoes and pants for my rugged daily work over rocky terrain. Brian helped me find the perfect shoes, which last considerably longer than previous shoes and actually fit my feet properly. My outdoor pants seemed pricey at the time, but they fit well (Im tall female) and proved their worth in the field. I plan to buy another pair. I also got a great headlamp with help from another employee. Im happy!

The place has everything you need. Only reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because I bought a sticker and it peeled off after a few weeks despite applying it properly. I know it’s petty but oh well.

Large bright store, helpful staff

This is a great store for hiking shoes, backpacks and other basic outdoor gear. Prices are a little high but quality is very good and the staff is extremely helpful. Only complaint: prices on some items (often with a style component) like hats, funky shorts etc. can be ridiculous ($85 for an Indiana Jones-style floppy hat?) But if you can avoid those temptations, its a great place to get high quality outdoor stuff.

When I moved to Tucson, I bought over $2000 worth of hiking equipment from summit hit and I was very happy with almost all of my purchases. All my purchases, save one. In December I bought a $400 insulation jacket due to being in a rush without doing much research. I only used it a few times, however, I knew after a few uses it was not for me. It was not breathable, too big, and too heavy. After reviewing the return policy, it clearly stated that I could return the item as I was not 100% satisfied with it. When I went to return it, the manager have me such a hard time! He kept going on about how lenient of a return policy their store had compared to others and kept asking again and again if I was sure I wanted to return it. The killer was that this jacket was apparently so unpopular, that they had to put it on sale for 50% in order for anyone to even buy it!! Due to this fact, he tried to cheat me out of $200 and only refund me the discounted price! I was not going to let that happen and got my full refund, but the whole encounter really put me off from shopping at summit hut in the future. Beware of being hounded when you return items and make sure you keep the receipt!! They will try to cheat you.

Everything you need for outdoor adventure- and everyday casual living in Tucson. They have most of the major outdoor/travel clothing brands and a great selection of packs and rugged travel gear. Very friendly and helpful people. Theyre also happy to have items transferred between locations, if necessary. Added bonus: yoga classes!

The staff was knowledgeable for sure however the customer service was not at checkout. I asked a question bout buying items online versus in store- not too friendly or willing. Otherwise my overall experience was decent.
