Today is 1/29/21 and I drove 230 miles out of route just to get to the Cascade Hollow Distilling Co. Let me tell you why and what my visit was like!First, expect to travel through some amazing parts of the country and see the Arnold Air Force Base on your journey to some of the best tasting Whiskey this side of the hemisphere.Second, I came to find the whiskey you can’t pick up in your every day shop at home. And this place has got it. Do I need any other reason to be coming here?Third, unfortunately I can’t remember the girl who help me at the distillery shop but she was absolutely fantastic and amazing. She only Had to answer like 755 of my questions but she was enthusiastic about answering everyone of them. She said her goal one day was to be a distiller (like Nicole) and when that day happens, I wanna be there to try her first bottle because that girl has passion! If you’re expecting to see something the size of Six Flags theme park, you won’t. What you will see is the coolest freaking looking whiskey factory tucked between a small winding road and amazing backdrop of the wilderness in your life. The shop is amazing and they have a variety of different things you could buy there and some stuff you can never find anywhere else on the planet. They’ve got apparel they got hats and a bunch of other stuff. I wasn’t able to take the tour because I was on a time schedule but I will be back one day to check the facility out.If you like whiskey and you want to take a day trip, this is a cool place to visit and buy some fantastic tasting whiskey.Thank you to the team, and the girl whose name I can’t remember (I’m sorry) who I bought $500 of whiskey from, for showing me around the shop and dealing with my weirdness. You guys are fantastic!
Very welcoming and informative. I did the Heritage Flight tasting. They have a couple of different tasting you can experience. Unfortunately with this Covid thing going on theyre not doing tours of the distillery. Tori did the tasting, she gave us the history of Dickel the man and also of the distillery before the tasting. She was very informative on the bottles we were tasting. Though the best part of the tasting for me was that my wife, not drinking, and 9yo were allowed to sit with me while I experienced the tasting. I definitely recommend doing the tasting.
We took the trip down from Murfressboro because we love Dickel whiskey, nothing has changed as a result of this experience, we still love their whiskey. Start with the good: The location is beautiful and the gift shop is quaint and cool. The merch was nice, but overpriced. We decided to do a tasting, I wish I would have passed. It was $15 each after tax and what you get for your money is four thimble -size plastic tasters on a board, looks like a wood clip board, and an attached sheet with a little info about the whiskeys. Five dollars would have been pushing it, $15 is ridiculous! If I knew what we were getting, I would have waited and just bought them when we got back to town. We still love their whiskey, but disappointed to make such a long trip for 300% marked up merch and over priced tastings. Staff was very nice though. Unless youre nearby and just want to see the location and walk through the store, pass on this one.
My husband and I have visited the Jack Daniels Distillery before, but we have never visited the Cascade Hollow Distillery (George Dickel). It was very quiet. Not a lot of people when we visited. You can not tour the distillery at this time, but they do offer tastings. Our tour guide Tori (sorry if spelled incorrectly) was so knowledgeable and fun to listen to! If you ask, or they might offer, you can try a Dickel-drop or Dickel-ade (my favorite). Tori was also great about handing out bottled water because of the heat.
Fantastic distillery, beautiful location with a very friendly staff. The gift shop is very well organized and has an amazing collection. The tasting experience with master distiller Nicole Austin is fantastic and worth every penny. Its a 90 minute session on the art, science and history of whisky making in the region. Nicole is very knowledgeable and answered all our questions very. The prices were reasonable and they have some rare whiskys too.
This place only gets 5 stars because thats as high as it goes! This place is AMAZING! The location is absolutely beautiful and peaceful, with mountains all around. Tori helped us pick out drinks and answer my millions of questions. She was so wonderful, knowledgeable and overall extremely helpful and sweet. You can really feel the passion these folks have for their product, in the careful and clean upkeep of the place, in the knowledge and passion the staff have for helping and answering questions, and in the delicious products they sell. You can really feel that the staff want you to have a wonderful experience, and they absolutely deliver! I will definitely make the drive back out!!
While driving thru Tennessee, my husband and I decided to stop here and check it out. During our experience here a young lady was very rude towards me but only expressed interest in my husband. She offered him taste testings from different whiskeys, offered him water and tried placing her hands on my husbands arm while talking to him, with me standing right next to him. She would not make any eye contact towards me and acted as if I wasn’t even there. I do not find this very professional nor respectful and did not appreciate her flirting with my husband. With that being said, we will not be stopping here again.
Great tasting! Its 14$ for the four flight tasting and well worth it!! The four flight is free for military or prior military and the 6 serving tasting is 40$ or 20$ military or prior service. Super interesting history and great whisky!
Awesome place- staff was friendly and super knowledgeable. Tori gave us a rundown of the Flight of whiskey we got and whatever they’re paying her needs to be doubled. She’s amazing! Highly recommended.
We stopped in on a rainy Thursday for my father-in-laws birthday. On the first tour of the day we were the only ones in our tour group, but that only made our experience even better. Our guide, Tori, was top notch - we felt like we were receiving the VIP treatment. Though CHD Co. is smaller than you might imagine it would be, I must say I had a much better time than Ive ever had at that other distillery down the road. The tasting experience was much more enjoyable, also, and my father-in-law had a gift bag with some small souvenirs awaiting him from the staff for his birthday. They went above and beyond. During the tasting, do not overlook the Tabasco finished whiskey - I was surprised, it was VERY enjoyable. I would also like to note that military service members receive free admission.
Great small distillery. Great store with unique Tennessee items and of course a great selection of George Dickle Spirits.
Came up to TN for our anniversary trip. Decided to stop in on our way back and goodness are we glad we did! Tori was our tour guide. I cant speak highly enough about her. She was welcoming and very informative. She knew the history and shared it with us in great detail. Thanks for an amazing time on our adventure. We will never forget the hospitality shared with us and we even took some of the Dickels spirits home to remember our experience.
Great place to visit. The visitors center is clean, not to big and very friendly staff. The distillery was was a great experience, and dont forget the tasting.
Cascade Hollow is what I remember the place down the road being like years ago: unpretentious, un-hurried, and friendly. The tour guide took time to answer our questions and the tasting experience was laid-back. I will definitely go back
Stopped here driving through Tennessee as Ive been a casual Dickel drinker for decades. Unfortunately the tour was shut down for the plandemic but the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. We got a sampler flight and hanged out in back with Larry as he gave us a run down of the distillerys history, and we BSed about life in general and living in the area most of his life within earshot of the distillery. Highly recommended!
We had the absolute best time at the distillery. The tour itself was really great and informative, our tour guide Becky was so sweet, and the tasting was a blast! Everyone was so nice, and they even gave us a little present for our anniversary! (Shoutout to Tori for being an absolute sweetheart! She really made the trip there special.) It’s 100% worth it to go, and even if you can’t make a tour still go see the place, it’s absolutely stunning.
Nice, personal tour of the distillery and grounds. Cute waiting area is full of interesting museum quality items about George Dickel and the distillery. Beautiful area, so just driving to the place was enjoyable. We went earlier in the day, took the tour, and then did the tasting. Very interesting and educational.
One of the best unexpected tours of all time! While visiting some dear friends from Tennessee, we got to go on a tour they arranged of the George Dickel distillery in Tullahoma and were flattened to see where they are in 2020. Prior to this, I have become profoundly influenced by great modern bourbon, scotch, and Tennessee whisk(e)y before coming across a bottle of George Dickel Bottled In Bond. My taste buds have grown an affinity for single malt scotch, notably Balvenie, Oban, Bowmore, and Bruichladdich. Upon receiving a Tullahoma tour from the wonderful, lovable, and incredibly SMART Tori, I’m not quite sure my like for scotch will ever be the same again. We got to tour the late 1950s version of the Cascade Hollow distillery and couldn’t help but fall in love with the “other” Tennessee distillery! From the amazing tour of Miss Tori (Culinary Institute of America grad), we learned about George Dickel and the people of Tullahoma and the recent influence of GD’s newest head distiller Nichole Austin. A heavenly highlight was a tour of their onsite rack house holding hundreds of aging full barrels of whisky complete with the full angels share aroma! At the conclusion of the distillery tour, we got to sample several of George Dickel’s current creations including their Barrel Select and the mythical Bottled In Bond. As the magnificent Miss Tori held court, we came to the unmistakable conclusion that this is not the less interesting George Dickel of old. If you love great modern American bourbon Tennessee and Lincoln County Process style, make sure you consider the modern Nichole Austin (and Tori!) influenced George Dickel!
Friendly staff, good whiskey, beautiful area. Too bad we couldnt do a tour.
We visited here on 02/12 for my father’s birthday. It was a slow day and we were the only ones here for a tour. Tori was knowledgeable, engaging and extremely patient with our questions. We enjoyed a tour and a tasting following. Tori and everyone else made sure to make my father feel special on his 60th birthday, which he greatly appreciated. Easily one of the best distillery tours we have ever been on. So much history with dedicated employees. A definite must see!
Great drinks, music, and people! Will be attending any front porch Fridays that we can.
Nice, was not crowded. No tours it seems right now though. Beautiful location.
I visited the distilling the staff were very friendly did not take the tour or the taste test but I did enjoy my visit there
What a great experience. This little distillery is an absolute MUST see, when you are in Tullahoma or Lynchburg area.Tory, our guide today was plain and simply amazing. Very knowledgeable, friendly and dedicated to the products and the company. The tour start at the visitors center, and then you go, step by step, through the whole distilling process. And in the end? There is a Whisky tasting! I really liked the different varieties. And again, Tory did a great job in guiding us through the different whiskies. We visited the distillery in Lynchburg in the Same day, and I can only say, George Dickel / Cascade Hollow gives you a way better and authentic experience.Thank you Tory, thank you to the whole Team. Great Job, keep it up!
It was our 1st time here and we loved it. The staff was super nice and helpful and our guide, Tori was excellent! We both enjoyed the Tabasco barrel finish a lot!
Bummer, hard to find. Went into store and got very little help. Would not spend the time and tell anyone else as well to go there.
My girl and I visited during this covid scare, so obviously things are different. We got the whiskey tour on the lawn because the there arent any other options. Tori was our guide and she was awesome. I think considering the whats going on in todays world its was the best it could of been. Great scenery and descent whiskey, but the gift shop was over priced.
First tour of George Dickel distillery. Kim was a great guide! We sent post cards to our kids inviting them to come tour and do a tasting of some great Tennessee Whisky!
So lets be honest here - the class of people visiting George Dickel is MAGNITUDES classier than those visiting that other place down the way a bit. If you like throngs of low class smokers on Harleys, skip this location and head to that place with the black and white label on the bottle.Dickel has a great backstory, still uses tried and true production methods even though there are probably easier ways. Dickel barrels 700 per month with a staff of 29 vs. The Other Guys who are doing thousands per day. Their products are by and large produced for flavor and sipping pleasure, not to be mixed with cola or consumed from the bottle just before a huge bar fight.Their tour guides know the history and read it back with passion, unlike the other place, where it sounds like a roller coaster safety briefing at Six Flags.Dickel is a class act and well worth the trip.
The property is gorgeous, the products are awesome, and the staff is fantastic.Even in the midst of COVID restrictions, these folks gave us a really great experience from the moment we walked through the door. Tori is the best ambassador any brand could dream of having. She did a superb job of sharing the Dickel history, guiding us through our tasting, and taking great care of us the entire time we were on the property. She provided the perfect customer service experience! We highly recommend the Heritage Flight tasting and the chicken salad lunch...absolutely awesome!
If you visit Jack Daniels in Lynchburg, TN then you must visit the George Dickel Distillery, as they are only 30 minutes apart. The Dickel Distillery is very small and out in the middle of the rural countryside. When you visit you feel like you have stepped back in time before the days of prohibition when everting was wild and new. Also, the whisky tasting is a must. And dont forget to mail your free post card in the post office.
Best distillery in the world. Nice people and excellent gift shop.
George Dickel Whisky enough said great place to visit !!!
Great facilityGood people
The Whiskey on the Lawn Experience was so incredibly enjoyable! The staff (Tory) was so knowledgable and engaging! My parents and I had such a wonderful time learning about the history of George Dickel and Cascade Hollow. And getting to taste through all of the products was amazing! Highly recommend this experience to all!
We went here on 08/21 and were lucky enough to get a great tour guide all to ourselves. I wish I could remember her name. She was extremely memorable in every other respect. She had only worked at Dickel for a few months, but she nevertheless impressed us with her knowledge of history and of the product. She did a fantastic job. We really enjoyed the relaxed pace and intimacy of the George Dickel experience. This is so much better than the crowds at Jack Daniels. If people ask us to recommend a distillery, this is the one
First off I am not a whisky fan but when in Tennessee you have to try Tennessee Whisky. We had a lovely and informative tour of the George Dickel facility and whisky making process. Our tour guide Tori was not only knowledgeable but delightful. After the tour, we tasted 4 of the products. I dont know guys I am now a Tennessee sipping whisky fan. Love the 12. Must go and tour and try the goods. You will not forget it. The area BTW is beautiful so well worth the drive from Nashville.
Very helpful and friendly.Tasty whiskey
After a long drive to find this hidden factory, we arrived in a somewhat deserted place. Only a group of about ten people was there who were already heading to the factory. We didnt want to visit; we wanted more to taste and buy some whiskey. They said tasting is available only with a tour, but they could accommodate with the returning group for $12/person. The group comes back 10 minutes later, so probably was not so much to see anyway. We participated in a dull and not so necessary lengthy tasting, after which we decided to buy an 8-year-old bottle. Now comes the fun part: we discovered days after, we were charged $31 w/o taxes for a bottle you can find with $20 in any liquor store, and that they charged us the full price of the tour just for tasting. So stop only if its on your way and dont buy any liquor!
Enjoyed the drive, very pretty area.
Came here for a tour and it was great! It was so cool to see how the whisky is made! Our tour guide, Megan, was very friendly and funny. There were also a few games set up outside for us to play as we waited on our tour which was nice. You should definitely come here for a great time!
An absolute necessary stop to enjoy some of a best Tennessee whiskey and explore the story behind it. Out guide Tori was absolute fantastic.
Cool place to visit. Tours out right now due to COVID so they did flights with history on the lawn. You can also get cocktails and purchase your Dickel favorites.
Beautiful location... nice people... 4 flight tasting and craft cocktail was perfect
Our tour guide, Tori, was very knowledgeable and friendly. This is a smaller operation and the whole tour did not take very long. But, it was quite informative. Loved the history of it. My wife and I enjoyed the whole experience. And the whisky is great! This is definitely worth the trip.
We had a great time learning about the history of George Dickel. The employees were friendly and very knowledgeable. The history is rich and the whisky is smooth. I would recommend anyone local or not to check it out. Im sure Jack Daniels offers a good tour but youre definitely missing out on a gem if you skip over George Dickel.
Very welcoming and helpful staff.
We went on the tour this morning and it was absolutely wonderful! Everyone we talked to from the tour guide to the guys working in the distillery, was super nice and very knowledgeable. The tour itself was very interesting and well paced. The tasting was delicious! Two enthusiastic thumbs up, I definitely recommend stopping by, taking a tour and bringing some whisky home!
Dickel Distillery is a gorgeous little hideaway tucked into the rolling hills that makes a whiskey so good id hide the bottles from my dear old dad.
My family and I visited on 2/19/20 and had a fantastic experience thanks to Tori. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She was able to answer all of our questions and seemed genuinely happy to show everyone around. Cascade is off of the beaten path but I believe it is well worth the trip.
We had Ryan as our tour guide on a beautiful October Saturday and had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained without feeling like a tourist trap. Nothing staged or set up with a nice intimate feel. Ryan was great with his explanations and answered many questions. Did a nice job of inserting humor and personal stories. Thanks for everything!
Our tour guide Tori was amazing. She was so well spoken and knowledgeable about the distillery. She went to culinary school so she was well versed with pairings of whiskey to food. Good job Tori! Thanks for making it a nice time for us.
Tori was an amazing guide. She was so well spoken and informative. Great personality! The tour was really neat. We loved seeing everything being made and enjoyed the tasting.
Well our timing was off and missed the tour, but made the tasting. The people there could not have bee nice. Anniversary weekend for us and they made us feel special. Great people, good spirits!
Tori was absolutely amazing! The knowledge she was able to share with such a wonderful personality made the tour of George Dickel the best distillery tour I have ever had. This hidden gem is worth the drive. You will not be sorry you stopped by.
Beautiful area, friendly and knowledgeable staff
What a beautiful hidden gem just outside Tullahoma City limits! The majestic views during season change, the adorable charm of the gift shop, the incredible people there and of course the whiskey 🥃Absolute must visit for anyone traveling to this area or nice afternoon trip for the family.
Pretty cool place. Kind of hard to find but worth looking. The tours were a lot more personal than the ones at Jack Daniels. Didnt have to wait hours in line to get in and the tour is just as good as Jack Daniels.
Great staff and excellent whiskey. Beautiful scenery for the tasting.
Its a fine day for Tennessees finest sipping whisky! Well worth a visit. The tour was grade A with a fun tasting session afterwards. Tori gets an A+ for your guide. She knows her Dickel history and the distilling process inside and out!
George A. Dickel Distillery is amazing. Not only is the Whisky incredibly tasty and so smooth, the price is 2nd to none for hand-made world famous Whisky. My tour was on a Sunday at 2pm and there was only 6 of us. Our tour guide was fantastic and knew the history and distilling process in and out and was so much fun. Probably the best Distillery tour Ive ever been on so far. 6/5 stars!
Went on the distillery tour with Tory our tour guide ....who was absolutely phenomenal! She was full of energy and made us feel right at home. We learned so much about local area, history and art of distilling. Highly recommend this tour...what a wonderful experience!!
Best drinking there is
I never had tried any of George Dickels offerings but was anxious to give them a try.Our tour guide, Tori, was just wonderful, she was very informative, this distillery is a totally different operation than Jack Daniels, Toby gets to play a lot of different roles in the production of their fine elixirs.Although the distillery is much smaller in size to JD Toby informed us that GD distills almost as much as the former...It was interesting to find out that George Dickel, originally from Germany, originally was a shoe maker before getting into the liquor business with his brother. Another interesting bit of information was that most of their product is shipped off site and unlike JD they do not make there own barrels. After the tour we got to try the distillery products and I was very impressed by how smooth they were.If you are lucky enough to get Tori as your tour guide youll find out not only does she wear many hats at the distillery she also wears a toque blanche (shes a Culinary Institute of America trained Master Chef).
