I have used Apria to supply life support oxygen for over 10 years and for apnea supplies for less time. The only reason I gave Apria three stars is the staff at the local Apria office. They do their utmost to help me all they are able. However, I generally have to go into the office directly if I want to speak to a local person because of the automated and totally non-user friendly phone system. Due to health, that is not always easy anymore. The corporate policies are neither patient nor service oriented. An example is shifting oxygen deliveries from a weekly to monthly basis with NO notice to the patient, myself. In the past the billing department sent my account to a collection agency for non-payment totally ignoring that Medicare, which they accept, pays a portion of the Medicare allowable charges and supplemental insurance pays the rest. This harassment ended finally when I spoke with my local Congress person about the violation of Medicare regulations and has not recurred. But Apria Billing was totally non-responsive to me. I could continue, but this is sufficient to give an idea of the general attitude which is corporate policy, NOT the local staff, which is limited in what they are allowed to do.I realize that Apria will be unable to respond to these comments, but I still felt it necessary to make them. It may be ridiculous, but I still hope there might be some reform and change within corporate policy making. If I could I would change suppliers, but there is no other game in town: rural Northern California. So I am stuck.
Called, after numerous press-this requests, got a person in a call center who didnt seem to understand the question. I asked about what was needed to get a temporary tank for my mother who was evacuated due to fire. When I explained that the doctors office was evacuated, also DUE TO FIRE, they said, Well, uh...we can...uh...process the request...uh...once we get the...uh...prescription. So, essentially, SOL if the power goes out again.
