Noticed that my vehicle had a broken underbody panel and was leaking fluid. Took it in to this CarX, expecting to get an repair estimate in the hundreds of dollars (or more). The staff was friendly, professional and courteous, and informed me later that they removed the broken panel (not needed for vehicle operation), determined that the fluid leak was due to a loose oil filter (which they retightened), and then topped off the oil in the car. When I asked how much I owed, they said nothing. These guys are awesome! Highly recommend them.

Very nice and honest group of people here. I used to think smaller privately owned repair shops would be my best options, but Tyler and the others are personable and straight forward, not to mention knowledgeable.They referred me to an auto body shop when they realized my issues were beyond their responsibility(I can totally see other shops try to take advantage of their customers), and then later they even gave me a free wheel alignment.I didn’t set up appointments, but each time I called they were very receptive to my requests. You guys honestly rock.Seriously, I went to a smaller privately owned shop prior to visiting them and literally nothing was fixed.

High integrity as they ensured the engine diagnostics were good to go before replacing the four tires - an investment that wouldn’t have made sense if the former didn’t check out! I have been going to this CarX for a couple years now, and I am happy to give them my business each time I need something for my car. Tyler is very friendly and responsive. Its easy to make an appointment, get in and they do the work quickly but with good quality. Once I needed a ride and they offer complimentary rides which was very helpful.

My first encounter with this Car X location was back in 2001 when I first moved to University City and needed a safety inspection... 20 years and two moves away from U-City later, I still come back to this particular location anytime I need service done on any of my vehicles. The entire staff is extremely professional and knowledgeable especially Tyler. My most recent issue I had was my check engine light came on in my SUV... After several calls to Tyler with my concerns/issues, I brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic check. Instead of taking my money and telling me the issue, Tyler was nice enough to inform me that with my particular vehicle and the current mileage that I should be covered under the dealerships warranty plan and I should call them first to confirm. Any other shop would have seen this as an easy $70 but not them... Tyler proved his dedication to providing the best customer service and for that I will remain a loyal customer and continue to come for any of my service needs in the future!

I usually dont leave reviews, however the service, professionalism, and the fact that there was nothing duplicitous about them prompted me to leave one. The Team went above and beyond with their repair of my sons 94 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. They honored the guarantee, and even more impressive was the fact that they were able to resolve other trivial issues that came about in the wake of the initial repair of the vehicle, with no additional charge. I am certain most other places would have nickel and dimed me unrelentingly. For them it is about trust, forming a relationship, and providing piece of mind (this was especially a Blessing well counted as it pertained to the safety of my son). My tire pressure sensor has been broken for a while now, and after having it been fixed twice by another mechanic, I went here and its finally fixed for real. Tyler at the front desk was super nice and really helpful! I called about an emissions test and he told me they would have to have my car all day. I dropped my car off around 10:15 and by 11:45 I got a call saying it was ready! Super fast and really friendly. Great experience

Have taken my car here previously a couple times for some service and tires. It has always been a positive experience. Called up again b/c I had a flat after hitting a huge pothole. Told the person on the phone that my tire barely had any wear. Based on this info, she suggested I call the original installer as there is probably a warranty. Did just that, and it is covered by a warranty. Her suggestion easily saved me $100!! Thats honesty and good customer service.

I had an appointment at 11:00 am. I got there at 10:00am. I left my truck there and waited till 2:00pm and my truck was not been looked at or done. They told me I dropped it off so they were doing people cars that showed up cause they were staying till finish.

I recently replaced my battery on my 2005 Nissan and discovered I couldnt get it to start. Thinking Id broken the timing belt, I had the car towed to the U-City Car-X, prepared for a huge repair bill. It turned out my car only needed a computer reset and I ended up paying a fraction of what Id anticipated. Im sure if Id taken it to a dealer, they would have found several unnecessary problems costing me three or four times what I paid. Im extremely happy with the honest service I received and will become an even more regular customer in the future. They even washed my car! How great is that. Thank you Katie and company.

I was told that it had not done the things I mentioned to the service manager.as I drove off it did everything I told another tech about.i even brought a note on how to diagnose the electrical issue.Ive always very good results with car x in the past having a fleet of trucks and vans that I have serviced around St Louis. I did not push them for a finish date.it was there for 4 1/2 days. Not happy with that ucity location,!

I’ve been a customer at the U City CarX for years. They know their stuff well and always do an excellent job. Katie, the manager, is friendly and super efficient. You’ll usually find her checking in and out several customers at once always with a huge smile. The guys in the shop know their stuff and explain things thoroughly, which is often the difference between a good and bad experience at the auto repair shop. They get you in and out quickly and though they are usually quite busy, they can accommodate when you need to get work done. Highly recommend this shop.

Great first impression! I was a little early but everyone was friendly, the place was clean, and the service was quick!

I will literally never take my car to another place. They saved my butt twice now and have always provided me with above-and-beyond service and care. They kept my poor old Sonata running like a brand new baby and have always been flexible with my schedule. I will not be returning to Car-X, most especially this location after the way I was treated by Katie. I brought my car here to be safety & emissions tested and decided to do repairs elsewhere, so that I could save hundreds of dollars. Im not sure why labor and parts are so expensive here, but you can definitely find cheaper estimates just about anywhere else. I refused to pay for an electrical system check, because I was not warned that would be a price associated with such service. The manager said that I could leave the store, because any problem that I found wrong with my car would just be fixed by someone other than her mechanics. I do not appreciate her attitude at all. I am just a college student just trying to save money and have a registered vehicle, which does not entitle me to receiving repairs at this shop.

This is definitely my go to place for all my vehicle needs. The Manager Katie, is amazing! It is obvious her staff has respect for her and makes sure every job is done thoroughly. I called this location today, 4/30/2020 at about 10am and found myself chatting with Katie. I called in about getting a scheduled alignment and MO inspection for my 2016 car. She promptly was able to fit me in today at 2pm, which I was thrilled about. I had happened upon this place because of a family member recommending this location to me because of the great service they got, not only from this establishment, but also from Katie as a whole. When I got to the location, I found myself in the waiting room with 3 chairs, all 6ft apart from one another, and of course the line on the floor. I couldnt help but notice the Girl Boss sign at the front desk where Katie was seated (which I love that sign btw!!) . She was very prompt and courteous as she took my info for my car to be taken in. As I sat down, I watched as Katie ran the show, making sure the other customers before and after me were taken care of as well as making sure the mechanics were being timely in their work. Katie kept me well informed with the mechanic working on my car, so much so, that she brought the mechanic in to ask me about my cars breaks, to find out who worked on them last. I told the mechanic that myself and my older brother had redone them back in Feb of this year before the carona stuff happened. The mechanic explained to me, in my language, what was going on with my cars breaks, stating that one of the calipers was sticking and he wasnt sure which one, but he wanted to make sure I was aware of this and to make sure it was ok for him to take a look at this, as this was important for the alignment. After I told him sure, go ahead and let me know, a few moments later the mechanic came back in to tell me what he found, one of the caliper housing, when put back on was twisted which caused the rubber line to pinch causing the caliper to not work at all. He gave me all the scenarios of what could happen, but the first was he was going to take the housing off and untwist it and put it back on and make sure the caliper worked.. and if not, either the line would have to be replaced or a new caliper. I thanked him for the info and asked for him to proceed. After waiting a little longer in the waiting room watching the TV there provided. Katie came back in and said my car was ready. As I got up to the desk, she stated that the line to the caliper was fine, the caliper works great now, and that I didnt need an alignment after all. I looked at her and stated I didnt need an alignment at all for having 4 brand new tires put on...the first 4 tires brand new I ever put on this car, She stated yes, all was green and no alignment was need. She also stated that all I owed them for was for the emission inspection, which was $24 total. I asked her about any additional labor for the mechanic taking the caliper housing off and untwisting it, she stated it was super easy to do and no extra charge for it. I told her I appreciated that so much and told her it was sooooo hard to find a great mechanic in town, let alone one that you can really trust. She appreciated the comment. I then explained to her why I came into this location, because of her help with a family member that she gave and how that family member felt about the overall experience. She actually remembered my family member and asked me to make sure I told them thank you for sending me in. I promised Katie I would go online and write a review for this location, as if I could, Id give this location 10+ stars!!!!.... in my 20+ years in customer service for a big box store, this by far is the best service ive ever seen by a store/company. Hats off to Katie and her team there. Thank you for being open in this time and thank you to all of you for being so positive and courteous to all your customers!!! I love this Auto Shop! I went there and got excellent service. Tim and Chris were very detailed in explaining to me whats wrong with my car and explained to me how each part worked together . Tim is the best, he researched for the best deals for the parts I needed. . What auto place can you say that about? I usually have good experiences at this Car X. They are pretty honest about the time a repair will take and if they are backed up or not. Recently, I had to have my car and my daughters car worked on at the same time. Tim and Chris were great at communicating with me about what was wrong and how long it would take. I feel comfortable with this Car X because Tim is very professional and friendly. They are also good at trying to get you some discounts when the repair can be costly. I would definitely continue to patronize them.

Were very helpful and accommodating. Fast friendly service.This is an edit after my first two visits to Car-X. Luckily we got a warranty on our tires, because two weeks after getting four new tires one started losing air. We called in to let them know, and were told to just air the tire up to see if it continues to lose air. Well, sure enough it did. So we aired it up again, and drove it in. They checked the tire, and found that it had a bubble. Which thankfully is covered by the warranty. We were told they needed to order our particular tire, and to return the following morning. Well the following morning came, but our new tire did not. We were told that a mistake was made, and our tire had been shipped to Ohio by accident. Now it would take 5-7 business days for our tire to arrive. I did not feel safe driving a car I now know had a bubble in it, especially for so long!!! I asked if they could just order another tire, and have it the following day like it would normally take. No, we have to wait for this tire to be located in Ohio, and shipped back to them!!! No, they cannot give us a loaner tire, that wasnt in our warranty. So now we are waiting for our tire to be found, and shipped to the store. So far its been 7days, but 5 business days. I think this is ridiculous, and dangerous to make us wait for this exact tire. I dont think we should suffer for their mistake!! This will be our last visit to Car-X, after we get our tire!!!Ive removed a star from my rating

I needed a brake job so went to Carx. They gave me an overhaul estimate for everything that I needed along with options for me to choose from. I received 5-star service and will be going back for any future needs for my vehicle. The staff was professional, nice and helpful and even went above what I needed to address and fix something else with no charge! I cant remember the last time I received such awesome service for my vehicle!

I had been going to this Car-x for years. They said I needed to have a new catalytic converting installed on my truck (plus some additional repairs). I asked them for pricing and they quoted a substantial amount more than their competitors. I reminded the asst. manager that I had been a loyal customer for several years. No break on pricing...so now I get my brakes somewhere else.

Students that are looking to buy a reliable used car on the cheap, get an inspection here before you buy! Katie and her team saved me from buying an expensive mistake.I was head-over-heels for this immaculately kept used Camaro, and the used-car dealer was giving me a really good price for it.During the inspection, Katie walked me under the car, pointed to some oil residue and told me dont buy the car if they wont fix that. Turns out its a sneaky rear-cap oil leak that wouldve cost me over $2000 to fix, a 1/3 of the price I would have paid for the car.When I returned to the dealership, I asked them if they would fix the leak first and they immediately refused. Turns out they knew about the leak (despite insisting earlier that the car is in perfect condition with no repairs necessary) and were hoping Id drive it off the lot without noticing. Dodged a bullet on that one - best $30 Ive ever spent!

I started going there a number of years ago for inspections. Then I added oil changes. Now they do my repairs too. The guys there are always friendly and very accommodating.Edit: I went last week because something that looked like a can was dragging from the back end. I asked them to take a look and let me know what it was and how much the repair would be, so I could schedule an appointment. I was hoping, if it wasnt dangerous, to put the appointment off until I got paid. They pulled my faithful old 2003 Honda into the garage, looked at it and told me I was ready to go. I asked what it was and what it would cost. They said it was fixed and wouldnt cost anything.I ask, could the place be any more honest?

This is by far the best place to get your car serviced! They always have time to get me in, they always explain what needs to be done so I understand, and I always get my car back in a timely manner and running great. My car is older and needs a little extra TLC from time to time and they always make sure they do what needs to be done to keep me driving! Had issues with my car losing power while I was driving and it was too dangerous to drive. Took my car to the car x right next to my house on olive in university city and I must say they are fantastic! The manager, Catie (or Katie), has great customer service. My car took a few days to fix but it was well worth it. They called and updated me every step of the way. Told me the price of the repairs before starting and that’s the price I paid. No hidden fees or extras put on my bill after services were rendered. I will be taking my car back to this location and will urge others to do business with this particular car x.

I’m still fairly new to the state. Other places have upcharged me for everything with bills that were way too high for the poor service. Car-X did all my emissions, safety, etc. quickly and for cheap. One issue was found and they fixed the problem in less than five minutes and did not up charge at all!
