Initial response was quick. Selection process was smooth. Measurement went fine.Demolition of counter and backsplash was terrible. Didn’t clean up the area, took a chunk out of the finished wall, sloppy cuts (see images), etc. When I brought this up, no apology, simply, “we will have customers sign a release in the future”. No where in my email chain is accidental damage discussed during demo.Counter was cut wrong. Left large gap from the wall to counter. They had a different guy come look at it. He said it was cut wrong and the ‘scribe was flipped’ the wrong way. The counter was not cut to the dimensions specified on the quote. They told me to have the tile company ‘float’ the tile. After multiple emails, they agreed to remake counter or would pay for tile company. My tile company said he could fix it with some extra work, which of course is going to lead to a higher quote. I opted for them to pay for tile company, to which they said, “we will pay half”.Not a good experience.
Gary, Adam and team did an amazing job installing our new Phenix Marble counter tops. They had incredible attention to detail, were meticulous about the caulk lines and color, were good listeners and really cared that we were happy. Gary was proactive with his ideas for our project. We love the fossils in the countertop and the leathered texture. The finished edges are perfect! I recommend asking your remodeler to hire Fox Countertops for your install. Thank you, Gary and Team!!
The Good: Picking and selecting a countertop was a good process with helpful staff. They had a wide selection of patterns at varying price points. The staff were helpful and the final estimate was very competitive with other local companies. The Bad: When the countertops arrived I was present for a portion of the installation before heading back to work. We came home that night and noticed the long section of the countertop was installed crooked with the overhang changing by 3/4 to 7/8 from one end to the other. This was easily visible with the naked eye. We called Fox and they were prompt at coming out to see what the problem was. The installers returned 2 days later to correct the problem. The issue I had with this is that the installers mentioned they knew it was installed crooked the first time. Im not sure why they proceeded with the installation and failed to inform myself or others...my guess is they were hoping no one would notice. Unfortunately there were other issues with the installation. Our island has two posts supporting one end, these posts were pushed out of level when the countertop was installed. I dont know why they didnt use a level or tape measure to check any of this after installing as either would have indicated an issue. Because of this, the reveal was different and the posts were out of level causing us to need to readjust the posts. Also, the top edges of our painted drawers had paint scratched off of them. This is a fairly simple fix on our end but something we shouldnt have to do. Lastly, when the installers came to remedy the crooked reveal they must have set one of the countertops with wet caulk on our island countertop leaving residue for us to clean up. Once again, a simple fix for us but left us cleaning up something we shouldnt have.Because of the issues with installation I had to take two different periods off of work. If you have this luxury, I would suggest staying to watch the installation to be sure its done properly. I usually would not suggest this as I know from working in construction this makes work uncomfortable but I wish I would have done so in this situation. Conclusion: Good customer service up front and good selection with competitive pricing. However, the installation is what really matters in the end and we did not feel like that was a valued process. We have spent significant amounts of money on our cabinets and countertops, and to have the final piece installed with poor attention to detail is disappointing.
These guys are the best hands down, Im 40 miles from Des Moines they did a beautiful job on my large kitchen with Island,, new construction job, we covered everything because other contractors were still in there, when the people installed my drop in stove hood vent they must have stepped on the granite lip and cracked it in 3 places my wife and I were just sick over it, sent Gary some pics he said it could be fixed, he sent a guy out, when I called for the bill he said no charge we had been through enough already it was on him !! You dont find that kind of workmanship or customer care anywhere anymore!!Thanks Gary !!
