My go to grocery store for my South Asian/Indian needs. The owners are very friendly and extremely helpful with any question you have. They were able to provide me guidance on which ingredients I was looking for.Their prices are really competitive in comparison of buying spices from Safeway/Trader Joes. What I would spend $120 on any other store for 1/4 of the amount of spices, I get for $70 in this store and big quantities.

One of the most family friendly environments when it comes to Indian stores I’ve ever experienced. If you need some advice on what’s good, new or a good deal ask the son. Cooking advice ask the mom, you can literally find anything here from tahini, lamb and all the fresh produce you can think of. There is something for everyone from all walks of life in here.

I love this grocery store! I cook a variety of ethnic cuisines like Asian, Latin, Italian, and Greek. The Bazaar offer every seasoning and other ingredients needed to help make that possible! They sell wrappers for spring rolls, peppers and tomatoes for salsa, oregano and basil, and grape leaves for dolmades. You dont have to drive all the way to The City for ingredients anymore! They have it all! And the prices, they are the lowest in the bay. I highly recommend this store!

This place is a hidden gem. A wide variety of food, fresh produce and household supplies. I came in for a few spices and the friendly and knowledgeable staff not only showed me what I needed, but gave me a few tips on how I can make the recipe even more flavorful. Also, I am a bit of a clean freak and this place was immaculate. Everything was put away nicely and kept up much to my liking.I’ll definitely be coming back. Keep up the great work!

In the end they had what I needed, even if it wasn’t the brand that I wanted. It’s also the closest store to me. If I need something in a pinch it will have to be the place that I go, otherwise I might try and find a larger place if you need a larger variety.

Indian Bazaar. What a hidden gem of a market. Located @ HWY 37 & Sonoma BLVD., Vallejo. Situated in the same plaza as Popeye’s Chicken. What, I, appreciate besides that vast array of unique and exotic spices. Is the value and quantity of other products such as dry goods. Beans, legumes, various rice’s available in bulk or small quantities. Recently, I, purchased Tilda Pure Basmati rice brand and it is the best quality rice that I have ever cooked with. There are many other goods such as fresh produce, dairy, prepared frozen foods, personal care items. While, I, drive from Napa to shop here, it is worth it for the savings. In the past I’d order curries, Tikka spice blends from Amazon. There is still something to be said about shopping in person and have expert customer service at hand. Whether you are a novice such as myself learning about the various cuisines of India. They offer many other items that will translate into different styles and regions of cooking. Now more than ever it is important to support local, independent, family owned markets. It is worth stopping here and better than driving into the Bay Area.

I hate to leave a bad review but the owner is super rude, not friendly at all. No customer service whatsoever. I bought a $45 pressure cooker but realized when I got home that it was much smaller then what I thought it was. (All pressure cookers are in boxes, therefore you can not determine exactly how big or small they are)I took it back the very next day to exchange it for a bigger one....he would not do it so I was stuck with it. I have given him many chances over the years and every time he disappoints me. I much rather go to FF for my Indian shopping at Amar grocery.

A friend and I ate at Vashnu Express Cafe (will review next. Food was very good.) and stopped into Bazaar after lunch. This is a hidden gem for Vallejo. I agree with the positive review given. They have most of the items I use to cook indian AND ayurvedic recipes and their prices were very reasonable. I am headed back with my cookbook to stock up on ingredients. The man that rang up the indian candies I purchased was very friendly and polite. I will pay cash when I return to help them save the credit charges. I am so excited to find this place (and Vashnu Express Cafe) right here in Vallejo.

Wed passed by many a time, and didnt think to look in until we stopped at a nearby mom-and-pop fast Indian food place and had some time to kill. I was surprised to find that this shop has been around for 13-14 years. I guess this is typical of many small, ethnic stores that barely make their money off the community living around there. Bazaar is obviously providing a lot of products to the Indians living in the area but theyre located in such a community backwater that they never really expect non-Indians to come. They carry a huge inventory (and end up freaking out over paying the merchant costs for customers credit cards).Dont be put off by what appears to be rudeness -- all Indian waiters and shopkeepers are like that, even in India. We spent a half hour just walking up and down the aisles--spices, pulses, canned and packaged goods of dishes I cant make at home, even produce -- a huge selection that now we dont have to go all the way to Berkeley for! The bittermelon they sell is not the kind my mom grew in our garden from the ones she bought in Chinatown. The Indian bittermelon looks more like an alligator, with a sharp ridge. They have a whole refrigerated box of commercial brand kulfi, the Indian ice cream! If youre new to this ancient yum of a dairy dessert, it starts out like gelato--made from milk, not cream--but its caramelized and naturally sweet, so it has a naturally high melting point and the flavors they use are spices, nuts and fruit extracts. Lovely stuff. Not even the stores in Berkeley seem to carry so many Ayurvedic formulas for skin, teeth, general health. You do have to watch out for expiration dates, but thats a caveat for any store, Indian or not. If the store has what you cant get elsewhere otherwise, and you huff off and dont tell them youll come back to give them more business, then they dont learn and you have to travel all over to find what you want.
