Bought myself a gently used Dean Bass from a seller on Facebook marketplace that had been in storage for nearly 10 years (in its case, of course) and needed a lot of TLC -- or so I thought until I dropped him off with Jim and, sure enough, I got a call not 2 hours later that he was good as new and ready to come home. Knobs now move smooth as silk and I barely have to press down on the frets -- its like playing a dream! Leave it to a veteran bass-man to get the job done quick and right!

Jim here at River City has set up and repaired several of my electric and bass guitars now and I have to say every single one comes back feeling like a brand new guitar. Perfectly intonated and immaculate action. On top of that, the work is always done very quickly. I highly recommend River City Music and won’t go anywhere else. Go here, they know what they’re doing!

I recently bought a new bass online . The bass wasn’t in the greatest condition . Took it here to Jim to have him set it up and clean it up. He did a phenomenal job . Plays and looks like it’s brand new . Even got it back to me ready on the same day . I will be taking all my instruments that need work to him . I highly recommend . Thanks again Jim!

River City Music is exemplary! Carl, their maintenance technician (repair-man) is literally known throughout the region for his fantastic work and reasonable prices. Often times hell show up at festivals and performances and be on-duty so he can work his magic to save the show. Other staff members are very kind and helpful, too!

The work they did on my guitar is absolutely stunning; I cant put down my acoustic guitar now. If you need your guitar setup, go here! Again, Im shocked at the difference. I cant believe I played the way I did for almost a year. If you think something is off with your guitar, it cant hurt to stop by.(Edit) To add: I drove from Hillsboro today to get my Stratocaster adjusted, well worth it! The staff is friendly and, most of all, knowledgeable. Again 5/5, would recommend.

Brought in my (Eastwood Airline Map DLX) for a brand new Nut replacement and a Pro Setup, including (Intonation, Truss Rod Adjustment And String Height). Took them a day to do everything! They’re so friendly and knowledgeable. Great customer service. Highly Recommended!

I Have purchased many instruments and fixins from River City Music over the years. For the burgeoning classical child in your life too any seasoned gig player who needs a set of strings at the last minute, youll certainly be able to find whatever you need. The bigger national chains crrtainly can keep more extravagant stock around, but not with anywhere close to the knowledgeable expertise and genuine love for music present at River city. FREE repairs and setup (within reason) on guitars purchased here is a great deal as well. Ive never felt any feelings of salesmanship and pressure to buy anything here.

Called on a Sunday trying to find pickup wire for a custom build. Owner didnt have the exact wire I was liking for but provided a great alternative solution and hooked me up! This is exactly what a music shop should be, helpful, courteous and awesome! Will be shopping here from now on!

I have always loved this place. The owners and the people that work there are amazing. Their teaching staff has always been great! I still have my Samick tele from when I was 12. Miss you guys! I will come by and get strings soon!

I wanted to have my guitar restrung. After calling first to get a quote, I took it in. When I dropped it off the guy at the counter quoted me double what the guy on the phone did. I corrected him and he agreed. Later he called to tell me there was more that needed to be repaired and that it would cost four times the original quote. I decided to pick it up and not have any of it repaired. The guy had already cut the old strings off so now I have a guitar in worse condition than before. It may not have sounded very good before but now its not even playable. Grrrr... never going to River City Music on Mill Plain again.

The repairman here is the absolute best. If you need brass or woodwind repairs, he can get it done quickly and extremely well. I have him do all the work on my horn.

Great rental prices. Supplies are way overpriced. A box of 10 reeds at RCM is $32.95 as compared to $18.95 at leading online retailer. Im ok with some mark up, ie 10%, but 80% is WRONG.
