I will never again set foot inside this store. I am so disappointed as I have been a Merle Norman user since my teen years (over 40 years). I moved to Venice a year ago and was so excited that there was a Merle Norman store here. MN no longer manufactures the particular foundation that I have used and love so much. I was there to find another foundation CLOSE to the same color. I went in and the lady there was so nice and applied a foundation and I bought it. Even though I felt that it was too orange and when I mentioned it, she said yes, she thought it was orange too. But, I ended up leaving with it anyway. After getting it home, I decided that there had to be a closer color to what I normally used and the next week I returned it. I did not know that they had a no return policy right now even though after it was pointed out I did see that at the bottom of my receipt. I had not used the foundation so I did not see why it was an issue. The same lady that I dealt with the previous week was there and could not have been more rude. Honestly, I have never been treated so abusively. She made horrible comments to me such as when I told her that I understood that they no longer made the same foundation and that I was just looking for a similar color she replied Well, Im not sure that you DO understand. Then I tried to purchase some of the triangle sponges and she said These are SO much better than the ones that you buy at Walmart when I have never bought anything of the like from Walmart. When I tried to pay with my Debit Card she told me that they did not take credit cards for anything less than $10.00 (the sponges were $6.41) and I said I did not carry cash. She jerked them out of the bag and said Well, catch me next time. At which time I proceeded to tell her that I would not be returning to this store and she held my bag back as if she wasnt going to give it me and said Well, how am I supposed to get paid? I am a small business owner and I told her that she had been very rude to which she replied Yes, I have been and continued to withhold my bag from me. I had to ask her twice to please just give me my bag so I could leave. Honestly I have never encountered such a rude person before and then she acted shocked that I didnt want to return!! All because I wanted to do an exchange. And, after all that--she gave me the wrong color foundation and I had to go back in........it was a horrible experience.
Yesterday I decided to drive to the Venice store rather than have products mailed to me. It was worth the drive (from Port Charlotte)! I love Merle Norman products and the owner and her associate went out of their way for me. Very friendly. Will return.
After many years of buying from this store in person, I had an order shipped due to the Covid-19 store hours. I received my order which was over $100.00 to find the cheek power broken and coming out of the packaging. Called the store and was told to file a claim with the post office. Never again will I buy from this store. It was packaged incorrect and you should stand behind your product and handling.So very dissappointed.
I had an incredible experience from John who gave me a beautiful glamour makeover!As a crossdresser, he made me feel very comfortable and welcoming! I think it turned out great, plus it was a lot of FUN!
Definitely worth a visit. We no longer have a Merle Norman where we live and I was so happy to find this one. Very very pleasant experience.
