BEWARE! BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK.In March 2018 I ordered and paid 2,200$ for a Scotti Hill Generator HS Floyd. It’s a guitar for a collection. I wanted to bring it to the Skid Row’s m&g of 20 of May 2018 to be signed by the band.Jon was always elusive about giving a shipping date. He started to point out things which in retrospect sounds like excuses: do you want the toggle switch this way or that way? Oh, the Floyd is not in stock, it will come this week. Ops it didn’t arrive, do you want a different color? Etc.At some point, I also offered to receive only the guitar body (in order to be signed by the band) and ship it back (all at my expenses) to finish the guitar at a later stage. His reply was “I should have the guitar finished around the 10th of May” which gave me hope. He said he was still waiting for Floyd Roses and offered to send me an extra body (this I have to say to be honest). I replied that if he was looking for Floyd Roses, I could have shipped some in 2-3 days, he didn’t reply; I refused the “extra body” offer because we were not going to make it in time with the m&g, so it was pointless. The guitar was shipped in July. Yes, you’ve read that well. 5 months. But at least it was done. But wait for the nice twist! The body of the guitar was all scratched and dent! Yeah. I emailed Jon, who described to me (!) how I could fix it. First, by just applying some drops of water on the dents (you can see it in one of the pics). But it didnt work so he emailed me a series of very complicated operations including special products. I didn’t want to work on a guitar that clearly needed an expert, so I brought it to a local lutist who quoted about 400$ to fix it (disassemble the electronics, rework the body, sand it, etc.). I emailed Jon about it, asking what he thought. He said he would ask 20$ to fix it, if it was him. But... yeah, it was him, wasn’t he? If he didn’t want to pay to fix it, I asked him to pick up the guitar and fix it himself- I didn’t care how, as long as I had my guitar in mint condition for the collection.I asked several time to pick up my guitar in the next months. I have never once lost my temper and I was always polite and trying to get my instrument done the way it was supposed to be. He never really cared or replied. I gave him all chances to act as any company owner should act – caring about his customers. Finally I decided today to stop asking. I will bring the guitar to the lutist, and pay for it. I also decided to leave this feedback to alert other potential buyers.

This is my favorite maker. I have been blessed with a 30 year career and have owned hundreds of guitars. I currently have and play three made by Jon Hill and they are exceptional in all ways.

I paid for a bass guitar 2 ½ years ago and Jon refuses to finish it or give me my money back. About 4yrs ago I bought Jon’s top of the line Huntington Bass. Nothing like the advertised bass or what he said he would build for me. When he finished it and gave it to me there were more than a few issues with it. Firstly, the bass nut wasn’t even glued on, fell right off when I was changing strings, less than a week after purchase. Each pickup had only one screw mounting it, as for the other pickup screw wholes, well they weren’t even drilled yet. He put bubble wrap packing behind the pickups in place of foam. The bass has file marks all over the body, because it wasn’t sanded. The pan pot was wired backwards. I’ve had to take my bass to Jon several times for electrical wiring issues. The fret board cracked. He put different hardware (i.e. bridge and tuning machine heads) on the bass then what was advertised. The bass didn’t have strap buttons mounted on it. He didn’t give me a case until I asked and then he gave me an old beat-up case, but said he get me a new one, never did… Check with the BBB to see what other have to say about Bootleg Guitars. I would stay away from Bootleg at all costs and go with someone reputable. You will not get what is advertised. You will get a pile of excuses from the owner!

BUYER BEWARE!!!! I bought a guitar from this guy Jon Hill ..Paid him $2500.00,(felt real uneasy when he didnt send me a receipt and I had to call and ask for one) He said it would be built out in one and a half months...2 months go by and I havent heard from him..I give him a call, he says hes still working on the neck..another month goes by..still nothing,I give him another call..this time he says he needs to order the Floyd upgrade parts(Should have ordered them when I bought the guitar)and that it would be about another week to get the parts...I call back in a week and he says there was a glitch in the parts order and that it should take ANOTHER week...More time goes by and by this time it has been 4 months on a month and 1/2 build out..So I ask him to at least sent me some pictures...NONE come (That should tell you something)...So I say if you cant get it built Im going to need a refund..he replys back ok I will give you a refund..a week goes by,no refund and he stops replying to any messages and calls.I contact my credit card people and now their on the case..You know buying a guitar is suppose to be a pleasant experience this was anything but..4 months of complete stress with this guy..Do yourself a favor and stay away from this guy,you could be the next one getting ripped off...Check his reviews, youll see what I mean.Theres a couple other guys on the BBB reviews he burnt..1 for $1699 and ! for $1400 who said he never got his guitar or money..Very bad customer service and very unprofessional... I ended up moving on to a company called CMC Guitars..Custom Metal and Classic guitars..I bought a guitar from them had all the Floyd upgrades put on it and received it within a week.. Good luck. Update..1-23-16 I received the money back from my credit card companys (No thanks to JohnScumbagHill,he didnt lift a finger to get me my refund) but not from my bank ($350.00) they said too much time had lapsed...So he smoked me on $350.00 and many stressful hours of dealing with it..This guy is a real piece of work..save yourself some headache,Dont do business with him.

I dont know if I qualify as an artist but I sure was struggling that sunday, when John helped me out. The day before I met John, I took my wife and my (4) kids on an outing. They had a blast. Kids jumping over straw bales, pie judging contest (free pie), apple bobbing, Jack Ford (a real artist - local musician) singing and playing his guitar. On our way back, the hood of my already beat up van slammed open and broke the windshield. I decided to fix it the next day (sunday), so I popped the guitar strings off of my daughters classical guitar and headed to junk yard. It was a learning experience. The two strings I got almost got me through cutting the whole perimeter of glass when the last of the guitar string broke. I tried to pry the glass off, but it broke too. Here I was back where I started at 3pm on Sunday. I needed more guitar string. So I called and called till John answered to tell me his business hours were Mon- Friday. But he didnt hang up. So I asked if he was in the store and if hed be willing to let me in if I got there within 30 minutes and he said yes! That saved my day, thanks John! Btw, they moved to 3800 lakeside ave.
