I saved big money on some equipment for my house. The store is unbelievably large and tidy. The staff is very friendly and helpful and I was able to get what I needed quickly. This was a very nice place to get some shopping done

I really like and enjoy shopping at Menards. Their products, tools and prices are very reasonable and affordable. Not some of the high price, high end professional or commercial products as their competitors. Which I dont need, Its great for the DIY homeowners like me. Menards has a huge home improvement store in Vernon Hills, IL. Very big store with wide variety of products for home improvement, home appliances, lighting/electrical products, kitchen gadgets, garden products, plants and general grocery items.

Menards should take more time training their employees since no one knows what they sell and where it is. I think they have a system in the store, if they want you to back off they just tell you :” it should be upstairs”, or “ it’s got to be downstairs”. Absolutely no desire to do their job!

A place to buy material for your do your own projects .. very good prices and motivate your employees to work during the weekend ..

This place has everything. We come here because they have the best price on duraflame starter logs and always feel confident we could pick up ANYTHING else we needed from a refrigerator to frozen dinners 😉 I am not from the Midwest and heard about this place on the radio for the first time about 8 months ago, I love this store and it is already one of my all-time favorite retail spots.

This is the biggest, nicest menards Ive ever been to! Maybe its the elevator and escalator....but its amazing! I found something at this location that was sold out every where else. I got a great deal on some plants that are doing great and they were discounted.i actually planned a day in the area so I could bring my grown son to the two story Menards with the elevator!I know its a newer store but I hope they continue to keep it great! Its very clean and the employees were very friendly!

On September 4, my father went into the store to buy a storage shed. He was having trouble matching the dimension of the shed on display to those on the product box. The indicated dimensions stated on the box were 3 feet larger than of the shed on display.After an employee was not able to answer his question, he called for a manager to assist.The manger told him the demotions on the box are incorrectly listed due to the incompetence of the vendor.In a very condescending tone, she insisted he purchase the item as is, then assemble it at home to verify the size. She also personally guaranteed that the depth of the shed in the box is 3 feet shorter than listed on the box.She refused to let him open the box to confirm the dimensions even after he explained that he has to rent a truck in order to get the item home.When he asked if there is anyone above her, he could make a complaint to, she stated she is the store manager and does not repot to anyone. Her 1st name is Janet and she also refused to give me her full name.

Terrible customer service. Manager couldnt seem to care that the store overcharged me for a generator I had just purchased the night before when the guy in line in front of me was discounted for his (same exact generator). She tried to explain the difference between a display model price vs a returned item price when both were clearly unused. Somehow returned unused items and displayed unused items are different items. Same make. Same model. Same original price. The staff on the night of the purchase even said both were display items but couldnt explain the price difference only that the skew code was different. She (the manager), who seemed irritated to be assisting someone then tried to gaslight me when she said the guy was a little further ahead of me in line when I said he was right in front of me. He was in front of me because I let him due to the fact he had only one item and his family was there. Youve now lost me as a customer for life. No apology. Tried to lie to my face. No exceptions. Theres plenty of competition for Menards and Ill be shopping with them in the future. Nice looking stores cant hide staff ineptitude nor poor customer service. Quality products AND quality people make a store worth it. Menards barely has the former and certainly not the latter.

I worked with Matt in the window department, I gave him the size of the openings for the windows and he recommended I go with a certain size.Needless to say, they were 4” too small on all sides.When I spoke to David in the window department trying to dispute the 25% restocking fee he told me it was my fault as I signed the contract and ultimately placed the order based off the sizes recommended by the Menards employee.DJ Gatto the store manager told me he is going to stand by his employee. They literally have the opposite philosophy of the customer is always right.GO TO HOME DEPOT

It’s a good place, however I bought a defected grill Coleman there, the legs are uneven and the leg lock is not on the correct location, bad product. The return process was really quick

Nice to have Menards nearby but still getting used to the stacked concept of the two level store. Kinda wierd to go upstairs to grab a door and a bunch of lights but, overall a pleasant experience with a well rounded staff.

Very nice place to shop for home improvement needs. They just built the place so everything is new here. The have a wicked cool escalator that works on some black magic sorcery because the cart goes up with you as well. They also have an elevator if magic isnt your thing. The staff is pretty nice as well. Be careful of the exit when pushing a cart, I saw some lady had her cart jammed by the pavement causing her to trip. Then it happened to me as well when I was leaving the store. Haha. Other than that, nice place.

Huge 2 story home improvement store, conveniently located just north of Rt60 & Rt21/Milwaukee Rd in Vernon Hills.

Huge are so nice and clean, unexpected escalators the buggies and everything like that really nice and thats all I can say

After using a Menards recommended flooring installer, all of our flooring was ruined and had to be pulled up at our expense. The store manager Matt Gutzman refused to call the installer to request a refund on our behalf or pull the installer from their approved list. Buyer beware, Menards cares more about their installers than their customers!

This store is huge. 2 floors. On the second floor there is a guy that plays a piano and you can hear him through out the store. This store has everything you need. You can get lost in it.

I bought a dishwasher today and the staff made the purchase process very easy. They matched a price of a competitor. I was at the Lowe’s next door and couldn’t get any help with appliances so I went to Menards. Someone was able to help me almost immediately and made the checkout process seamless.

The only reason they get 2 stars is because this location is newer and as a result is much cleaner than Long Grove or Gurnee, but customer service is absolutely horrible. I walk inside and only need 3 things: an electrical outlet with USB, a dimmer switch, and a cover plate. Sounds simple, right? NO WAY! I walk inside on the 1st floor, and some kid (18/19 years old) is walking away from me, so I have to chase him for help, and he says “Uh, I uh, don’t work in electrical, but if you go that way there should be 2 or 3 people walking around in electrical”, so I ask him to physically show me where it is, and he repeats the same thing, and when he points toward electrical, he pointed directly left on the 1st floor behind the escalator, but electrical was actually on the 2nd floor to the left of the escalator. So I find my way to electrical on my own, and have to ask a guy for help as he runs away too, and he’s like “Oh I’m uh, not sure, I uh, uh I’m kinda new so lemme grab one of the main electrical guys.”, so he comes back with this fat, grumpy lady (mid 30s to mid 40s) who looks very displeased that she had to do the simple task of helping a customer. I asked her for help finding a dimmer switch, USB combo electrical outlets, and a cover plate. She pretends to look, and the “new” guy asks me for a SKU number, so I start looking on my phone, when I realize and point out “Isn’t that the SKU number on the shelf tag for the display model?”, and he’s like “Oh, yeah”, and then the grumpy lady searches the SKU on her handheld and she says “It says 21 in stock”, so she actually tries to look this time and finally finds one, and the new guy immediately turns around and finds my cover plate faster than his witch of a manager. How can you deliver this poor of customer service? What should have taken 10 minutes was blown up to 45 minutes because of staff who are unwilling to do their job. I will be taking my business across the street to Lowe’s in the future, sorry Menards but you had 22 years of my life to deliver good customer service and blew every chance you had.

I had 2 horrible experiences at the returned/ customer service. The customer service associates including the manager are rude and arent quite sure how to do their job and have to call another store to know how to return something.

This Menards is huge, new, and shinny. I usually go to home Depot, but this Menards changed my mind.

Menards is consistently my favorite big box hardware store. The store is always clean and well lit. Everyday pricing is always competitive and even better with their sales.

I would give 5 starts but they dont accept Google pay, Samsung pay.. its 2021 Menards get with it.... Store was very clean and staff very helpful but I will not be going to any menards due to the lack of tech

I love me some Menards wherever I am but Im particularly fond of the Vernon Hills, IL store. Its ginormous with two floors and an escalator cart. Great selection and theyve had the 11% rebate going for like 15 weeks straight now. Awesome. I bought $170 worth of stuff today and used $50 from prior rebates to knock my cost down to $120!!! Cant beat it!!!

The store is big and nice but there is a manager named MARCUS GAJEWSKI who is very rude and disrespectful to customers.

My go to Menards. Very nice location looks wise with a huge selection of things. Friendly staff that will go out of their way to provide great customer service.

This Menards is massive! Theres a moving ramp to a huge second floor. Very clean and organized. The restrooms are very clean as well. The staff is so nice and helpful. Theyll call out asking if you need any assistance or if you somehow realize you need assistance, very easy to find the associate. It doesnt feel cluttered and I enjoyed shopping there. Will definitely be back again!

Menards staff, when found, are really helpful and give good suggestions. The menards at Vernon Hills has two storey and huge, as all menards. Experience in any menards is consistent and good, just that getting hold of an associate to assit sometimes is difficult.

Heads up drivers, apparently this branch has receiving hours that are not listed or noted on BOL. No receiving after 8:00 pm or before 7:30 am.

I appreciate that the checkout person got someone to help me load my 150 pound item into the car, but it would be nice if one of the 6 staff people that passed me by, and saw me struggling to put the thing on a cart would have helped me. I asked a few of them to help me. They just walked by me like I was invisible.

I normally love Menards and I buy lots of building materials. This time I had to order from the VH store and I was very unsatisfied with the delivery and follow up service.Many of the OSB that I ordered arrived damaged. I called the store and they offered my to send replacement but I would have to pay for pickup and delivery...I don’t know why I would pay shipping again just because the order pickers at the VH store don’t care if they send out broken material.

Since I moved to IL 16 years ago, Menards is my favor hardware store. You can find most of the common tools and materials required for small and medium home dyi projects with reasonable quality and price.

Poor service and yelling in the parking lot Menard’s Vernon Hills. Serious problems with tool and truck rental business. I was in the Vernon Hills store and needed to rent the truck. There is no orderly system for people to wait in line. The clerks at the Customer Service desk could care less. This store is turning into a Third World market place. The problem could easily be solved by giving numbers to people the same way that we take numbers at the deli counter at the grocery store. It’s no problem with waiting in the store or out in the parking lot. You take a number when your number is called you’re the next one in line. If your not there then they call the next number. The staff told me they could care less! And their faces showed it. Menards is quickly becoming a low class establishment.

Great store on 2 levels-many various items. I was looking for toys for an 18 month old and flashlights-got it all-a lot of choices!!

This is a new store and its enormous. I seriously doubt they dont have what you are looking for. We had fun riding the escalator with magnets in the floor that lock your carts wheels. Live piano on a Saturday.

Menards is a great chain and the Vernon Hills, IL store is the best of the best. Why anybody would patronize this communitys Home Depot is beyond comprehension. The Menards Vernon Hills staff is engaged, thoughtful, knowledgeabe and helpful. Apply the applicable antonyms here for an exhaustive and mutually exclusive description of the mostly brain dead team at Home Depot. Amazingly enough, one need only ask one Menards associate the location of the most commonly found item. The equivalent Home Depot Vernon Hills coefficient is 3.148778883838883883993993993 but on only on a good day, with the sun shining and J.B. Pritzkers ravenous appetite for graft, hyperbole and simple carbohydrates under hypnotic control. As one likely surmises, in summary, thats not too often.Anyway, Kudos to Menards for forgetting more about home improvement/supply retail sales than Home Depot ever knew. Incidentally noted is that the adjacent Lowes, in Vernon Hills, is a well siutated alternative to the horrific Home Depot that best be avoided at any cost. Good job Menards!

I was just at your store 20 minutes ago. Walked through the store and I might have seen one employee with their mask on properly. I grabbed what I needed to get on with my work day and was stopped at the register and told i could not make my purchase without a mask. I was told this by an employee who did not have his mask on properly. When he called his manager over, I politely told her I have a condition and cannot wear a mask. She told me I needed a mask to make my purchase and walked away from me. So I drove 2 blocks to lowes and spent $15 more on the same product. It took less time than writing this review. Worth every dollar for being discriminated against. I will never shop menards again.

After buying from Menards for MANY years this visit is my last! Online shows a 6 pack of candelabra bulbs, 10 in stock. Confirmed by employee. We couldnt find them where they were supposed to be, the workers in electrical were very helpful. I ended up grabbing a 6 pack of the closest model. They were double the price and the service counter wouldnt adjust the price to make good! Extremely poor decision on there part. Really, aggravate and lose a customer for a few dollars?

Someone laided to me about 6 sliders I needed. They had in stack, the guy told me were sold out.over the phone.

Custom ordered crown molding. We were told we would receive a phone call when it all came in. We checked in every week to see if the order came in because we weren’t receiving any phone calls. Then the last time we went in store to check in we were told we never came in to pick it up so they put it out on the racks and it had been picked through. We never received a call and we had already paid for all of this material. They had to reorder materials and over a month after the initial order we are still sitting and waiting. I would never custom order anything from menards again based off this experience.

I will absolutely be spending money at Home Depot or Lowe’s after a getting stiffed on the 11%. Spent nearly 5k and received nothing back. They want all the originals so you have nothing to fall back on. Then.... they finally approved half and the check is now lost in the mail. Total scam and of course you can call anyone in the rebate dept.Very upset. Will never step foot in there again.

This is a new and completely re-designed Menards. This is a well organized, clean, high end feel store. They pretty much have everything you need from home remodeling to furniture, appliances, gardening and drive through lumber yard, which I love.There is a Lowes Store next to it and this Menards is stepping up the game. Quality of merchandise, selection and range of items is keeping the competition alive.Location, staff, cleanliness, feel for the store, accessibility is all good.Check out the Airport styled Escalators and cool elevator. Live Piano music is a plus.

Such a nice store! We needed help looking for a $200 work radio my husband wanted for Fathers day and Mel stopped what he was doing to help us find it. He was so nice and went out of his way to help us! Thanks Mel!

Two months later and around 6 phonecalls and I still have yet to receive my product or a refund. They cannot give me a fedex tracking number yet still insist that fedex has lost it. It’s my opinion that if you don’t have a tracking number then it probably has not shipped. Online order manager Marcus, please just give me my money back, you’ve already lost my future business why are you still holding my money hostage?Update: I received my refund but it took about three months total, the crummy part is that this was a gift and I had even paid extra for gift wrap and this whole ordeal really screwed that anniversary up. They never did anything to make this right, but at least I finally got my money back. A bought a better quality product elsewhere

Great! Had everything I was shopping for, no wait at the registers, staff helped load landscape supplies.

Deeply regret placing an order online for delivery. Items were incorrect and delivered to wrong location. This was a very costly mistake and would caution anyone who has hard deadlines and a limited budget to not roll the dice with the vernon hills menards. The incorrect parts caused rough opening to be incorrectly located this was a very costly nightmare time and especially money wise. It all has to be redone the right way now with time and money I really dont have.

Some employees are great, some are not. Mel is not....selective with who he helps....tells me that he dosent work in cabinets, Jim was very helpful. Midway while working with Jim, mel begins to work with another customer in cabinets. Disappointed where there is selective assistance given.... thanks Jim.

Menards is my favourite store; we built an entire house with lumber from Menards. This one is huge so they have lots of stuff but I usually prefer the more compact format. There are stairs to the right of the entry to get upstairs faster, and another stairs near the exit to avoid the cart escalator.

This place is huge and has just about everything you can think of and more. One young lady in the paint department went out of her way to help me. She mixed paint for me and then noticed I was not finding the other item I came for and she pointed me in the right direction. I cant say the same for some of the other employees who wouldnt even ask if I needed help. Overall the place is super clean and they open at 630 am. Its quiet in the morning and low foot traffic. Even a kid could be entertained in there.

I love Menards, but, their policy of not letting in people under 16 years old is ridiculous!

Very impressive, did a thorough walk through while shopping for specific items. If here is anything they Dont have pertaining to household,or building repairs or remodeling, I cant imagine what it would be. Theyve got it all, appliances, ceiling fans, just everything. All quality product and plenty of help there to assist you if need be. 😃
