Sept 2021. Had breakfast here 2x just this weekend and both times excellent food and service. I had no idea that this place was so good. The portions are good, prices are very reasonable, food comes out hot, the coffee is not watered down, and we got lucky with good service. Ample parking, indoor and outdoor seating, quick service. Ive never ordered their cakes but theres a glass display of many delicious looking desserts. Mouth watering. Will have to try this place for dinner one of these nights. Enjoy!
For a diner they have the BEST BURGERS EVER ! Literalllyyy the size of my hand. Avacado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, with cheddar cheese melted on a Soft Ciabatta Roll.! The milk shake was So rich &-chocolatey 🤤.! Their breakfast & their clam chowder is delicious as well! Their calamari.... ehhhh NOT gonna reccomend, however everything else is delicious!
...Just left the Vernon Diner, Vernon, CT, after enjoying a great meal which began by being seated across from their incredible dessert display case. We chose the Brooklyn Burger Platter and the Chipotle Burger platter from their extensive menu. For dessert we enjoyed two kinds of cheesecake. —Marble and Strawberry which was super delicious! Overall, the food was tasty and reasonably priced.I also wanted to mention our Server, Loris, who provided the kind of exceptional service that made us really glad that we dropped in for a bite to eat! It was interesting to learn that Loris has worked at the Vernon Diner for the past 20 years; and I must say that we truly appreciated his attentiveness and classic style of genuine service! We highly recommend the Vernon Diner.
What a wonderful place to eat. Food is delicious and portions are huge. The menu is multi pages and you can get just about anything you feel like eating. At first, when looking at prices, it seems a bit expensive. But, when you taste the quality of the food and the amount that you get, the price is right on. The bakery display in the front can hold your attention for a few minutes as you want to see what all they have and wish you could have one of each. And, the diner is open 24 hours.
Great diner. We got lunch items but wish we got breakfast because every plate that was carried by us looked delicious! Very busy place on the weekends so dont expect the fastest service.
Big portions! Everything we got tasted really good! I had the clam chowder that was freshly made, and gyros. Fries are crisp and fresh.
The food was worth waiting for. I had a cheeseburger that was made with top grade meat and big enough to take half home. French fries were crispy and obviously cooked in clean oil. Waitress was very accommodating and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I would highly recommend the Vernon Diner.
Great variety of menu choices along with all day breakfast! The desserts greet you as you enter and they dont disappoint! The inside of the diner is nostalgic and spotless. I cant wait to go back!

If you’re staying at a nearby hotel and Grubhub this diner. Don’t expect any utensils, napkins, condiments, etc. I guess they expected me to eat with my hands. Thankfully the hotel staff was able to accommodate. Be warned
I ordered an omelette with home fries. There omlette. Was really good but the home fries tasted like lard or like they were cooked meat pork.
Food is delicious! Had the fried mozzarella, Cheeseburger Deluxe, and a slice of strawberry shortcake. The burger was huge! Portions werent measley! Wait staff was very attentive and gave wonderful service. Do yourself a favor and stop in, you wont be disappointed.
I wanted to like this place SO badly. A cute diner, the desserts look absolutely amazing when you walk in. But there were so many flies buzzing around us while we ate that it was nauseating. The omelette was way too browned which made it taste rubbery. Id be willing to give them another try, but the flies are something that is too gross.
Stopped in for dinner just before 5pm on a Monday. Seating was available and service was prompt and friendly. Menu was surprisingly varied with breakfast available 24 hours. Everyone found something to their taste and was pleased with their food. The display of desserts at the counter was tantalizing but we were all full and happy and decided to pass on the lovely cakes.
I first ate at the Vernon Diner about ten years ago. I had gone past it several times and, liking diners and being hungry, I decided to give it a try. My party was welcomed and seated fairly quickly. The menu was large and varied, the staff very pleasant and the food, when it arrived, was pretty good. There were a few bumps in the road.At my first visit, I ordered a breakfast sandwich with Canadian bacon (which, as most people know, is a round slice from a cured pork tenderloin. The Canadian bacon was an irregular slice of ham, vaguely triangular. I chose not to complain.Another memorable meal involved my mothers order of a BLT club. The sandwich came with about twelve slices of bacon, which pleased my mother... Until she tasted one and found it completely flavorless. I tried a few slices, myself, with the same result. The rest of the (alleged B)LT was fine. Something that has puzzled and amused me over the years.Staff is pleasant (often delightful), facility is clean and well decorated and the food is mainly good. I would recommend them highly,
Really great breakfast. Had the corned beef hash breakfast with a bagel subbed for toast. Even the bagel was great, not just some Thomas bagel. Got some desserts to go to share with the family. The eclair was to die for and the creme brulee cheesecake was to die for. Ill be back!
Ive been here twice since things started to reopen and Ive never been here before covid. Had the same waitress both times - Jasmine - shes so friendly and funny! Big portions, the food is delicious, and the desserts are great. Took 2 slices of cheesecake home (since I was too full after dinner). Already planning my next visit..thank you everyone there.

I have been going to Vernon Diner for years as a weary traveler. It is an oasis of amazing food, terrific service, and dessert s that leave you wanting more! No matter how much of a rush I am in to hit the city, I will ALWAYS stop at the Vernon Diner!

We have been going to the Vernon Diner for many years now. I love their burgers, and breakfast is also excellent. I also really like their turkey wraps on tomato tortillas. My mother-in-law does not like this place, FYI.
Hadnt been there in a bit. So I ordered what I thought I could eat and the portions nearly beat me. The food was really good.

The food is Great! The wait time is minimal! The atmosphere is beautiful! The waitresses and waiters are also pleasant and support one another as a team which adds on to the overall vibe of the Diner! Definitely will be Returning this summer !

Best Ive ever had!I usually meet a friend whom I do not get to see often enough, so we spend extra time than the normal dining party, but the staff are nothing but kind. Even on a very busy Saturday lunchtime, we ate, chatted for a LONG time... They NEVER nudged us out in any way! Instead, they offered us more coffee and then left us alone to catch up!Thats good service!!👍💯
We were coming home from a softbaltl tournament and stopped in for a quick bite to eat and were pleasantly surprised. The food was Great, the service was great and the staff were all super friendly . Vignettes. Highly recommended.

Saw billboard on turnpike said breakfast 24/7. Pulled up at 6:10am on a Friday morning and its closed. Sign on door says opens at 6:30 yet sign out front reads OPEN 24 HOURS DAILY.. Im from South Carolina so I guess open 24 hours daily means something different up here, at home it means its ALWAYS open!! But what isnt backwards in New England?!?!?

Best place Ive found in CT so far for breakfast. Weve only went once, but its got a nice feel to it. The food came out quick and hot, and was good. I didnt dive into their deserts but they looked really good. Well definitely come again, and hope that it continues to impress. Only thing I would improve is real maple syrup.

Never disappoint, there is something for everyone regardless of what someone is in the mood for - breakfast, lunch, dinner or 2 am snack. Salads are hearty and beautifully presented, baklava outstandingly decadent and made in house. Hubby works 3rd shift and brings home their phenomenal omelets for Friday date night. Try their corned beef hash if youre in the mood for a breakfast treat of the Challah French Toast with fresh fruit.
I feel like you can never go wrong with Vernon diner. Everything I order from here is awesome! Great dessert selection too!
This place is great. Good food, great portions and the dessert options will leave you so filled youd think you ate at a buffet. We went for our first time and cannot wait to go back. We went for dinner on a Wednesday night and walked right in no wait. We were greeted quickly and politely and our food came out quickly. The French Onion Soup was not overly salty and my wifes salad was huge. The triple dealer I had was enormous and I couldnt finish it. The onion rings were worth the extra money. They serve limited alcohol for that odd drink you might want. We will be back.
Excellent meal overall. There for a few reasons I gave it 4 stars. First we ordered are drinks just as we were given our menus, but we didnt receive them for about 15 minutes. We ordered two meals the moussaka and the wild mushroom ravioli. Both were excellent except the wild mushroom ravioli was not wild mushroom it was just plain ravioli. Made note of that to the waitress and she said oh well thats embarrassing. We had also ordered a second set of drinks that we never received. Probably should have been three stars except for I believe the waitress may have been new and with covid and been a little more lenient.
Great breakfast food! We both had the Irish Benedict and it came out perfect. Reasonable prices, large selection, and a HUGE case of homemade desserts. Plus you can get a cocktail, if you want. Definitely a diner feel.

Great food and great taste, if you are planning a trip around Tolland turnpike, your trip is incomplete without a trip to Vernon Diner. Make sure you starve or fast or skip a meal or two before you go there, they serve a good quantity of food. They also have a long list of menu choices, their desserts are a must try. I used to come here years and years ago with my mother on the regular, and while the food was always good, it was one of those habitual dine-in spots that sort of falls off after enough visits. I remember always getting the exact same dish; the chicken sandwich with swiss and mushrooms. I got a bit giddy when I saw that it was still on the menu, but itll have to wait for an evening visit.Well, YEARS later -- after having had enough of Dennys failures -- weve decided to check in and see how Vernon Diner is doing. To think of all the money I wasted on other breakfast spots... What a shame!The first bite I had a few days ago was a simple breakfast; eggs, bacon, pancakes, hashbrowns, and a slice of lemon/coconut cake for later. Simple, hearty, and delicious. Normally Im picky about bacon, but the cuts were great (not too fatty, not too lean) and cooked wonderfully. The hashbrowns were surprising! Ive never been a fan of onions, and yet I thought they added a nice undertone to the potatoes. The cake was...well, the icing on the cake, combining a light tartness with a light sweetness on a cake thats not too heavy in and of itself.Today, I got the joy of trying their Black Forest Omelet. I almost never go for any omelet that isnt plain due to a lack of faith in getting one that isnt full of greasy trash cuts of meat, but I decided to give it a try...and was VERY pleasantly surprised! There were no gross bites, no hind of under/over cooked egg, and the cheese was stringy and plentiful -- a dish I intend to get again, and very soon.The Vernon Diners food alone says a lot -- particularly that the restaurants profits most definitely go back into the ingredients and dishes, and that the cooks and bakers know (and love) what they do. I hope the employees are paid well, because they do a wonderful job.Thank you for a great breakfast, Vernon Diner.

Driving home to Maryland and stopped here late at night on a friday. They were packed and rightfully so. The food was delicious and plenty of it. We were so happy to have gone. Service was wonderful and very friendly. I am going to remember this place if I ever come through town again!

Havent been here in awhile. Went for breakfast on a Saturday. Blueberry pancakes were very good - light and fluffy and lots of blueberries. Hubby had eggs and bacon - very good and came out steaming hot. Only disappointment was the cost. Their prices have gone way up compared to other breakfast places we have visited recently.
Over priced and waited far too long for a slightly better than average meal.

Challah French Toast was amazing. I asked if I could add fresh bananas and chocolate chips. When it arrived there were chips stuffed inside and melted. So delicious. I am so happy they let me customize my French Toast. Our tab only came to $18 and some change, such a good price. My bf got the one egg breakfast and I got a coffee. Would return again and ask for the same thing, and maybe add nuts too. 💕👌🏻also the desserts look amazing!

Decent place to get something quick. Great dessert selections. Very good pies and cakes. Been going here for years and glad its still open. New owners now I think. Only negative thing I experienced was when I came in to pick up an order, someone that was in charge at the time seemed confused and was demeaning the servers and kitchen staff because she didnt know if the bag on the counter was my order or not because it had no ticket/receipt. They were busy at the time but not very professional 🙄. No one wants to be greeted like that.
It was late in the day but we wanted breakfast. First we went to a location where they serve breakfast but not at the time we went. They were nice enough to refer us to Vernon Diner. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by FRESH desert displayWe were very welcomed.Our server was very nice and talked about certain dishes. We ordered our breakfast and it was so authentic and fresh it was so good. I will definitely go there again. Its nice to go to a restaurant where you see the pride and skill displayed and VERY clean. Cant say enough.
Diner was cute and food with good portions. Food a little over priced for the quality we got. However our server was absent and it felt like it was a burden when we asked her for anything.
