This market is about 15 minutes from Birmingham, AL and it sits in a short strip. It looks really small on the outside but when you walk in, you realize how much bigger it really is on the inside. It is loaded with fresh fruits and plenty of varieties for oriental foods. They have a pots and pan section along with the snacks and everything you would expect to see in an oriental market. Although they do have a lot of variety, it is very limited in brands. Other than that, they also have other brands that the other oriental markets do not carry so it evens out there. It was a great experience and theyre open late so even better! I enjoyed my visit there.
When I called the lady who answered was informative and helpful. After driving quite a distance from my home to shop there, I was helped by a courteous man to locate the product I was searching for. Overall, a good experience and would recommend it.
Great Asian market with fresh produce, fish and meats you wont find anywhere else. The staff is always friendly and the prices cant be beat. Smaller selection than the other Asian market in town but still nice, great to have an Asian market minutes from my house!
I love to shop for produce because of the great prices and cute dishes here. I cook a lot of Japanese meals and find most of the ingredients here as well. The staff is always very kind.
I was in Hoover for a convention and decided to make a stop before coming home. They offer a wide variety of authentic Asian food and goods!! This place is awesome.
Great selection and well organized. Stopped in here on a whim in hopes of some items I havent been able to find elsewhere. Low and behold I found them ! Isles were wide, clean, and easy to navigate . Fresh produce and frozen authentic items also available. Everything from rice, ramen, canned goods, treats, cooking utensils, and other imports.I deducted a star because I didnt feel welcomed. I asked the cashier if they carried the item in the picture. I described it to her thinking I mis pronounced it. She gave me a dirty look and told me no, we dont have it. Well.... After searching on my own I found a lot of it. I grabbed a few other things and upon check out showed her what it was. She looked at it like she had never seen it. I asked for another item I couldnt locate and she was very pleasant at that point and helped me find it.All in all I will definitely be going back for the great selection and prices !
Its not as big as the Hometown shop in Homewood. I didnt find good collection of vegetables. Still it might be useful for the Asian people living nearby.
Warning: This location is closed down completely. It’s unclear if they’ve moved to a new location.
Drove 20 miles all the way there for 4 items and guess what? Sold out of all 4!!! Really? Will find another Asian Market that had their act together.
No one speaks English but communication isnt an issue to find what youre looking for. Lots to see and great Chinese/Japanese Chinaware selection to choose from for purchase. Also some of the best cutlery for sale.
Love this place, but they rarely stock. They havent had lottes strawberry milkis since I first came here, and the stock is always as I see it, never more.I probably wont purchase again until I see that theyve ordered more products to restock.
This Asian grocery store has a great selection of both produce and traditional Asian/Vietnamese items. Its very clean and well kept inside and the staff is very helpful too. Its closer to me than some of the other Asian grocery stores in Birmingham and has adequate parking so you can get on and out quickly. Prices are very reasonable
I went to this store, for the first time, a month ago and loved everything about it. I was sad to see it closed down recently and completely empty.
I went in to get some Nori Furkake flakes. The guy behind the register (1)acted like he didnt see me (2) didnt want me there (3)didnt know what I was asking for (4) didnt know if they had it (5) didnt at least walk me around the store to see (6) just didnt care (7) RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I will give them what they want and NEVER go there again.
Wasnt very friendly and i didnt feel welcome. We were stared at for quite a while which is odd because the website says: We welcome locals and visitors to experience our hospitality and partake in our culture. On a good note they had a nice variety.
Best Asian food options around. Love the samyang noodles!
When it was first opened 2 years ago, everything was neat and tidy. The price was competitive. Now the standard of this grocery store is dropping with increased price as it has already established its business. For example, not every item has price tag, the price tag on the shelf may not be the actual price and it is getting messy.
It may be small, but they still manage to cram a lot of stuff in there... Which in turn does give it a stuffy if not claustrophobic feel. Other than that, I like swinging by on occasion to pick up ingredients when I am in the mood for Asian cuisine.
One of the few places where you can get very good imported goods from around Asia. Small place but they are worth checking out. I am a repeat customer.
Decent place. Lots of choices. Loves that they had mooncakes.
Enjoyed looking around, didnt know what most of the stuff was. Shoppers were friendly and answered my questions. Inventory seemed good with a large range of products. Will be back to try some of the things that caught my eye.
Cool place; seems like it would be a go to place for quick needs
Being japanese out here in bama is a little tough, not too many asian stores that have the supplies I need. Found this one on google and decided to drive out there. They had prob 80 percent of the things I needed. Thanks, and i will be seeing you guys again!
Love this place wish it had more curry though ♡
We were able to find some of the Herbs that are more difficult to find here. They have a variety of fresh Asian seafood that makes the store smell different when you first walk in but, I quickly got past it and found many little treasures.
I love being able to go to the Asian market and buy items that are not available at your normal everyday grocery store.
Great selection, incredibly reasonable pricing, produce section is the best in the area, friendly service. Its also the only place I can find fresh lychees in the Birmingham area and at a good price. Cant rave enough about this place!
EDITI had this confused for a different Asian market and kept screwing up my review. Im 80% certain I have the right one now.Tldr; you could do better but you could also do a lot worse. I went here for rice and sukiyaki ingredients mostly but their noodle section kept my husband and I from eating only American ramen packets in college. Its cramped but theres a rotating stock so if they dont have something when you visit, come back another time.
I found what i was looking for eventually. I only speak and read English so it was very difficult. I was the only white guy walking around with Google translate taking photos of everything lol. If one of the workers would have offered assistance i could have been in and out. I will be back!!
They were out of almost all fresh vegetables. This is a much smaller store than I thought from the pictures I saw.
Great old school asian grocery
Always enjoy shopping here just wish it was closer
Great place. Super nice personnel. Will continue to shop there.
I like to get some kim chi every now & then and some Asian noodle soup plus I like to look around. This is a nice Asian food store. However cashier was busy with other things and somewhat slow on this occasion. Im sure I will go back occasionally.
They had lots of options and the items appeared to be responsible.
Interesting they have a lot of different things I had no idea what was what. But it was fun.
Love this market. Friendly staff and great selection of fresh/packaged/frozen Asian grocery items.
I love it here. The staff is so freindly and they have cute food. Lol they even had squid at one point.
Needs more produce, other than that was a nice place to look and products was reasonable.
Well organized, and they always have good, reasonably priced produce.
As someone whos part Asian its hard to find good things in Alabama but this market is amazing with nice prices and nice workers♡
Very sweet employees. Definitely will be back :)
You have to explore this place. The staff is not helpful because of language barriers. Great tea selection.
My wife and I shop here almost every week and love the fresh vegetables, meats and seafoods. Very clean and easy to find items and really good prices on just about everything.
Mixed feelings. The place had a great selection but I felt very unwelcome. I tried to ask 3 employees where hondashi was and they wouldnt talk to me. I mean they actually pretended I wasnt there. I spoke to one man and 3 times before he eventually just turned his back to me to ignore me. It seems non Asians are very unwelcome. An african american girl walked in after me and got the same bad treatment as me when asking about bao.Even if they cant speak English, they could acknowledge a person physically or with gestures.
I was able to find a variety of foods I enjoy that arent offered at my local publix. I visit very often and havent had troubles of any sort.
Friendly and helpful staff but not everybody is fluent in English. A large variety of Asian condiments, cans, and snacks. Fresh produce is limited and greatly varies in availability. One time they have several fresh sprouts including bamboo, as well as a variety of cabbages and Asian vegetables, the next time you might see only a few different vegetables. Freezer section offers standard assortment of seafood products. Selection of kitchen utensils is small but you will most likely find the necessities. No alcoholic beverages are sold. Overall a very convenient place to shop for canned jack fruit, Thai curry paste, straw mushrooms, sticky rice, and all kinds of snacks. Try green tea kit kat, spicy peas, seaweed chips, and I would fear for my life if I couldnt present some Ramune and Pocky at my return from the store.
Good selection of Asian foods and reasonably priced. Recommended.
Very good prices awesome selections
Good collections of Asian groceries. Fresh and price is reasonable
Good prices and large selection, customer service could use some work
New experience. Authentic specialty fresh food
Small but have all the basics to prepare good Asian meals
Great products. Reasonably priced.
My daughter loves it ❤️
Food and service at the restaurant are great. The market has just about everything imaginable!
Lots of japanese and taiwanese snacks. Also very good selection on asian sauces and seasoning. Store is very clean and staff was helpful during visit.
Thrilled to have it closer than Homewood.
I dont know because I didnt go there. Although, I do plan to go in the future.
The largest Asian supermarket in great Birmingham area with a restaurant within
Great experience. I got to sample my first fresh lychee, then bought some. Good variety of fresh asian vegetables, various kinds of lettuce looked really fresh, tomatos for 99 cents per pound. They have many types of noodles, and I get my GF / gluten free bean thread noodles or rice noodles here. Great used with spaghetti sauce, and unlike those marketed as GF noodles in regular stores, these actually taste good. Everything is very reasonably priced. Several gluten free snacks, but they arent marked, must read labels. Spicy broad beans (sort of like crunchy butterbeans sprinkled with garlic and chili powder), tamarind candy, tamarind in pods, candied ginger, fresh ginger, specialty teas, large variety of of dried beans and mushrooms. If you need gluten free food, this should definitely be one of your shopping choices.
Great place to get hard to find spices
Plenty of products and choices. Great prices too.
Ok for real authentic food but needs cleaned smells like a dead dog in there.
Small but good price.
Great spot in an unexpected place
Has a great selection but when I visited there were pallets of product just sitting in the middle of aisles which is hazardous and hard to maneuver around.
Great staff and a lot of oriental foods. :)
Some good Chinese fresh vagitab.
Didnt have the things I was looking for....
Great asian mini supermarket. Been looking for a place like this since I moved to the Birmingham area
Great selection, even better prices.
Very good Dimsum Dumplings
Surprisingly big inside, great selections
The workers are nice and try to be helpful
Has an odd odor and must have over five dollars worth of items to use debit.
I Love the Products that are offered!
Great selection of products
It was really nice!
Always love it there
They have everything anyone would need for asian cooking
Doesnt open at 9:00 a.m. like it says. Im not sure what time they open.
Most disgusting grocery store Ive ever been in.
Good for Asian food and grocery
Love this place
It always has the mushrooms and Jack fruit that I look for.
Largest Chinese grocery store in Birmingham.
Thats the closet to home I have ever been.
Variety of items especially noodles
Normal small asian grocery store
Great selection!
Small and smelly but variety of food
Lots of items, friendly staff
Great place
Good!
Good shows
Poor selection.
Great
