Bought a new vehicle and considered trading in my 2017 F-150 into the dealer, Tesla, they offered me ~$26k then later ~$25k (I let the first offer expire). CarMax and Carvana both offered me ~$26k. Based on the ease of selling it to one of these dealers I considered it but decided to take the chance on the craigslist psychos, autotrader.com and facebook market place.Day 1 - I wasnt getting great responses, folks would ask be 20 questions then throw out a low ball like $20-24k. Lots of dealers contacted me but after many questions and additional photos they wanted me to come to their dealership to finalize a quote. No thanks, obviously I can go get quotes at dealers. Except for Chris Lamb who buys cars for Koons, he asked me some basic questions and was willing to come see the truck in person, first person to want to see it in person.Day 2 - Chris was flexible with my schedule and I had to change it on him.He showed up early, super nice guy, works with his wife Martha doing this, wasnt salesy (and I work in sales).Spent 20 min showing him the truck including a short ride. He offered me $29.5k (I had it listed for $30k). Maybe I could have negotiated full price but I was so pleased with the experience that I just took his offer and I thought his offer was very fair. I have to admit I was hopeful that after reading these reviews I too would have a great experience as it seems every other reviewer on here has but now I am doubtful that these reviews have any merit. You can expect to get all of the frustration of the car dealership experience right at the convenience of your home. Rick appraised my vehicle which I have meticulously maintained and you can expect that he will point out the most obscure details to make you feel like your car is worthless, i.e. an axle misalignment causing uneven treadwear (on relatively new tires no less). Honestly, if that is the worst that could be found I am pretty satisfied, I mean it is a used car is it not? They could care less about the work youve done to maintain the vehicle (aka anything that adds value to a normal buyer). After the appraisal, you will be presented with lowball auction prices that are an absolute joke (by the way Ive read in other reviews that they dont do that so watch out). I dont like the back and forth so I gave him my bottom line price and he said we were close but he had to make a call to his manager. Sounds familiar, doesnt it? I was left waiting and eventually got a slightly higher offer than the initial one but in the end we still werent close. Im just glad I didnt waste my time driving there so it only cost me 45 minutes.
