Please don’t waste your time. I am very high end resale person. Took several items here and was told numerous times that they couldn’t be authenticated. Sold the items on Poshmark and other sites and was able to get actually more that I originally asked for. Staff was friendly, but just not my cup of tea for resale.

Abhorrent customer service. Was spoken down to as if I was a child. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how my brand new designer clothes and shoes with tags were declined and “better suited for next door (Platos Closet)”. Laughable. Would not recommend!*EDIT in response to owner*Your employee should refrain from making assumptions. We separated our designer clothing and “juniors” clothing and dropped two bags off at Platos and brought the one bag of designer clothing to you. And I shouldn’t have to justify or explain any of this. Her tone of voice and word choice was poor.There’s no need for excuses on your end, just accountability would be appreciated. Full stop. Being acknowledged as a customer would also be appreciated, as is customary when you enter a location. And when we came in to pick up the clothing at the end we stood at the register for minutes before she told us she’d be with us in a bit.

It looks like most of the negative reviews about this store are from people who were unhappy with their experience trying to sell their clothes. Ive never sold clothes, but speaking as someone who comes here to shop this store is great! I always find great stuff and the prices are incredibly reasonable. On my last visit I picked up 3 summer dresses, a skirt and a top for $46! The brands that I usually buy here are things like Loft, J Crew, and Banana Republic. I get cute stuff and save a ton of money over what things would have cost new - I actually find items that are new with tags pretty often. My only suggestion would be to leave the fitting rooms unlocked the way the Arlington Heights location does. That way you dont have to track down an employee to open a room for you, since they often seem pretty busy. But other than that, this place is awesome!

I would not give this store even one star. Two baskets of beautiful Chicos clothing, clean, pressed, purchased within a year......these people were rude, said the clothes were out-dated and told me to go Platos next door. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE.......

You HAVE to be realistic- trust me, I know the pain of buying expensive, brand name clothing/purses and then selling them at a resale shop for very little money. BUT, do I want to spend all that time taking pictures, haggling with strangers, schlepping to the post office by using one of apps like Poshmark or Mercari to make a bit more money? Nope. I want quick cash on the spot! I have had nothing but friendly transactions every time at the Villa Park Clothes Mentor. The store is always clean, stocked and well organized. Patty is a doll and always has a laugh and a smile for me. (under the mask) :) But I also really consider what I bring in- I am pretty sure she doesnt want my beat up Old Navy sweatshirt, she wants my Tory Burch handbags and Hunter boots. And only in GREAT condition. Think about what you would want to purchase. Right?

PROS: Quick transactions, low hassle, money on the spotCONS: Environment, low monetary return, attitude from managerAs a seller, its always hit or miss with Clothes Mentor. You cant blame the employees or manager for the price you get for your clothes, as their prices are computer-generated, and based on a lot of outside factors. (But usually, you can expect to earn around $3-$5 per item, or around 10-15% of whatever your item is worth.) Ill come here to sell when I need to clear out my closet anyway, and am not concerned on getting a great return price.Experience-wise, it depends on who is working. I have been to this location countless times, and I think Ive only had about 3 good experiences here, because of an employee who I WISH I knew the name of. She has been the only one who has stood out, and she was a relief. The manager -- I assume she is the manager? It seems she is there most often -- never seems happy to be there, and less happy to see customers (or at least me? Can only speak for myself), and really puts a damper on the overall experience.

Terrible location. They have a few cute things here and there but staff is rude and unprofessional. They are unwelcoming and not friendly at all. Make you feel not welcome at all. Won’t get another hard earned penny from me ever again!!

Great deals today. Not cluttered. Easy to move garments on the rack and get a good look at items. Some of the 50% and 75% off clearance items were seasonal. Makes clothes shopping affordable for those on a strict budget.

The staff was pretty much ok. I just dont like feeling bad about bringing beautiful designer clothing and feeling bad about it. I brought brand new designer items shoes in the box that was looked down upon it seemed.One of the ladies walking out with me felt the same disappointment and said I just take my items to Goodwill. Ill just bless someone and give my things to Goodwill as well from now on and feel good when I leave. By the way I can buy my designer bags on line brand new. No disrespect. Thanks anyway Clothes Mentor.

I would give zero stars if I could, I brought in 2 large bags of high-end clothing with very nice dresses and formal sweaters perfect for multiple occasions. They denied both bags saying the clothes were “too nice“. ??? How are clothes too nice to sell?

Not recommended for selling. I brought in a bag of brand new summer shirts and dresses and it didnt even look like my items were touched by the specific way I folded them in the bag. I was simply handed the items back and told to go elsewhere. Having sold there before I knew what type of clothing they usually took so I spent extra time making sure what I brought would fit their standards. I just felt overlooked and pushed away. Very disappointed.

I dropped in yesterday out of curiosity and was amazed by the prices and quality of clothes. I left with 4 sweaters from Ann Taylor and J Crew and a coat for $75. The clothes looked and felt new. I could have spent hours more shopping but I was short on time. I will definitely be returning!

I sold some clothes here and I really appreciated that she gave me reasons why they werent buying some of my clothing. Im moving and needing to get rid of clothes and sold some things that I have never worn/worn once or twice. She was very kind! Id recommend selling clothes here!

Ive noticed over the years they pick and chose whose items they will take. Im never insulted about the price theyve offered in the past until today. Brought a pair of Christian Louboutins in and they were in tip top condition, and authentic and the best she could say is we cant find the shoes online and I know they are more of the vintage style so that I dont insult you we will have to pass on them. I brought a pair of Tom Ford shades, tiffany necklace and Pandora just to name a few and they offered me 70.00. For reasons like this I do not come as much and would rather donate then. This location didnt use to be line this needs more diversity.

I came in Monday evening to sell and i was waiting at the counter to sign in for about 10 minutes (no joke). Cldnt locate the worker so i waited (wasnt busy, about 5 ppl in the store). Another lady needed items rang up & she waited about an additional 5 mins w/me. She got tired of waiting for an employee so she went searching. Turns out the employee (Jill) was moving stuff around NEAR the entrance. Never peaking at the counter to see if theres customers. Didnt care. There was no welcome, there was no Im sorry for the wait. Just a blank stare, no smile nothing. Jill actually assisted the woman that came AFTER ME before me. She didnt bother to ask, its common courtesy. She made me wait even longer by taking the lady to the back of the store before even acknowledging me. She looked at me and said, we dont accept Forever21. Prejudging me. I told her I brought name brands, anything F21 she can pass. Do you ask every customer if they brought in F21 before even having a conversation? Ive been here before never got treated like this. never bringing my money here again. Id rather drive further for a better experience.

Awful customer serivce. I brought in several large bags of clothing. many of which are clean and hardly worn. bag was ripped open and never bothered to fix. was text not even 5minutes later and came back for a girl to say the clothing is damaged and in poor condition. 5 minutes to sort through 3 large bag of clothing? really? I travelled far to go here cause I saw decent reviews. never recommending this place.

I had a terrible experience at the Clothes Mentor on Roosevelt and owner Patricia Perich! After receiving no call or warning, my clothes were THROWN IN THE TRASH!I dropped off my clothes and went to pick them up on and they were no where to be found. The women at the store said she would have the owner call me to see where my clothes were. I asked if there was a time period and was told ten days, but not to worry because they have kept items for as long as a month before and they give warning calls. I never received a call after my ten days was up, so I assumed the store associate just couldn’t locate my items. Later that night I received a call from the store associate that she talked to the owner and she donated my clothes when my ten days was up. I told her to have the owner give me a call so that I could go to the organization where she donated my clothes and try to salvage my items.Keep in mind, I went to pick up my clothes on the 12th day, not the 30th. I was two days off and I wasn’t even aware of the policy. I know I signed a slip when I dropped off my items, but in all honesty, I didn’t read it nor know anyone that really does. Plus, the store associate didn’t mention it even though it was my first time selling with them. On a personal level, I was late because I was in and out of the hospital with this season’s bad flu. But regardless, if someone would have given me a call letting me know I was approaching my ten days I would have had someone pick up my items and arrange it with the store.The next morning, Patricia Perich the owner, gives me a call to let me know that she didn’t even donate them but threw them in the dumpster on the 11th day. Not only am I upset that I never received a phone call to let me know my ten days were up out of common courtesy, but even more upset that my items were thrown out when they could have been donated. Even though my shoes weren’t in style enough for Clothes Mentor, at least I could have put a positive outlook on the situation knowing at least a homeless person somewhere could have had a new pair of shoes on there feet. Not to mention a few year dated Coach ones! I own a business and would never treat someone like Patricia Perich treated me. I believe in treating people how I would like to be treated and I do not believe Patricia Perich would have liked having her clothes thrown in a dumpster. It was more work for her to throw out my clothes, than just giving me a simple call.I hope all of Patricia Perich’s clients, associates and friends know that she made the selfish conscious decision to maliciously throw out someone’s stuff instead of showing any human courtesy and giving them a call. And furthermore, choose not to think of anyone besides her self instead of making a donation of perfectly suitable clothing to those in need. I will never go to another Clothes Mentor again, I will share my terrible experience with everyone I know and let them know what a rude person Patricia Perich is.
