Produce and veggies were not fresh, and most items are higher priced than other local stores. The couple, assuming they are owners, were rude (a receipt was tossed to me, the lady acted like I owe her something, never once did she say anything nor smiled). I was a paying customer and would not spend another dime at this store.

Absolutely the best Asian food market that Ive ever had the pleasure to shop in throughout the 7 cities of Hampton Roads. Wide selection, fair prices, and friendly customer service. Definitely coming back for more exploration and the real ramen noodles!

My Chinese friend went to the American Asian Foodmarket this morning to buy yam for us to cook special soup and make lunch. As a result, when she took it home, I found that this yam was bad. I didnt know whether it was the staffs negligence or the bosss request. I feel very uncomfortable when I see it. I feel cheated. This place used to be really good, but now its too disappointing. Dont go there if you dont want to be disappointed.

Was super excited picked up a nice selection of things, the store had a lot of options which was nice, I got a few different peppa pig drinks my daughter was super excited. Unfortunately all of them were expired. I get it’s difficult to keep up on dates but for all of the peppa products to be out of date was disappointing I live about 45 minutes away so I can’t just run back and return the items. So if you buy make sure to check dates.

I find what Im looking.

Small but it has unique items that the larger Asian grocery stores dont have, especially szechuan spicy pickled veggies used in Japanese bento recipes and bulk size coffee candies

Always my go-to place! This is a well known secret shopping place, better than any other market for Asian produce grown locally. You literally cant find most of these favorite veggies any place else in Virginia Beach.

Went in for Vietnamese coffee (mellow and delish) but found none. However I bought many other lovely items and will now go regularly.

I love asian sweets and I usually go here to get them I recommend the choco rolls

Despite it being 40 degrees in there and someone pushing a cart into my car when you literally have to pass the cart return on the way out...Not a terrible experience. They had quite a variety. I have been going to this place for years and it seems as if they are getting better organized and cleaning up the place. They are heading in the right direction.

Good selection overall, nice vegetables and good drinks and snacks. One of my go to places especially when I need some odds and ends that I cant usually find at other stores to make thai food just how my wife usually would.

Must be under new management because this store has gone downhill recently. They no longer have fresh fish, sushi, or hot food bar, which was one of the reason I would make a trip to this store. They still have the asian staples but I would rather go anywhere else.

The cashiers spends more time on her phone than assisting a customer and never, ever says thank you after paying her. A nasty women!

This is better than some NYC Asian markets. Fresh produce, spices, noodles, Kim Chee, etc. If you cant find it here, its not anywhere!

Got a coupon from valpak mail. Cashier gave me the total. I asked before I inserted my card if they took my discount out. She said yes. Got my reciept and the coupon was taken out. I had a good 10 minutes discussing the fact that they did not redeem the coupon. I dont think she understood me. I was so disappointed. That was false advertisement. I left and will not be going back to that market with my hard earned working money.

We often come here to grab harder to find Asian foods. They have tons of different things from noodles to meats to produce, and a large variety of snacks and drinks. We often come to restock on seasonings and sauces. Our kids also love going to this grocery store.

A little chilly for my liking, but my wife found many things she was looking for and a few that she was happily surprised to find.

Went today for the first time, it is a large store with tons of fresh options. Everything is easily group together. I did find gf soy sauce and poizen sauce but not gf hoisen and oyster sauce which was a bummer. Getting lemon grass for 49 cents however made me smile. I didnt find kefer leaves or galangal but I did find powdered galangal which hopefully will be just as good. The spirits section was amazing, also excellent tea section.

Im from Guam and grew up eating a lot of Asian and cultural food. This is close to where I live and I not only am able to get ingredients I need but some of the snacks and candies i grew up eating as a child. Staff is friendly and prices are just right.

I just went up there for fresh ginger for smoothies, cooking and tea. I called first and asked the man on the phone if he could run it out to car, so I didn’t have to come in, He very kindly obliged. Little chilly in there but good product love their chopped pig feet and meatty neck bones (filling)

They have a good variety teas. I just wished they had a larger selection and variety of produce. They have a lot of interesting things that I would like to try.

Best Chinese grocery market in VA beach

Very different they have tons of seafood stuff that you wouldnt typically see at other stores. We went looking for octopus but sadly only had small ones other then that very authentic food and goods you can get 90 percent of Asian foods and ingredients that you wouldnt typically see at other grocery stores we still left with fresh rice noodles and tons of ramen broth/etc.

They have absolutely everything here. A great place to find culinary adventure 🙂

I LOVE this place. Great prices. Great feel. Great service. Just all around 5 stars. Ive been coming here for a decade and I find things I love at this place that I couldnt find anywhere else. This is one of my top 3 Asian food grocery store and it is mostly tied for first due to all of the available products.

Ive lived in Va Beach for 25 yrs and never ventured in there, well today was the day. I felt like I was in Asia, with the cold air and variety of ingredients you would never find in a regular market. If your planning on cooking anything Asian this is the place to go. I feel as if Im a walking Panda Express cook that went to culinary school. Were eating good tonight

I wish I could rate this place higher as in the past it was a fantastic location to go to. But nowadays it seems that their produce is not as fresh as it used to be. Now with other locations such as four seasons and Grand Mart, it is easy to surpass the quality that you will get here. Price wise it is on par with both of the other two mentioned locations. But quality-wise the other two locations easily outpaced American Asian food mart.

Great selection of produce, love showing our Korean-American kids traditional foods! Weve been back a few times to load up on snacks and everything we need for making our own kimchi. The checkout area is small and can get backed up quickly, but it goes to show this place is doing very well!

I enjoy shopping here except when I was trying to buy a fish. I asked the lady where they got their fishes or seafood but she hardly spoke English... Im not prejudice against Asian, but that was a huge disappointment. The super market has a variety of coffee that I love, their grocery section is also good.They also have a cooked food section which is awesome and a sushi area. Its a good place for Asian food lovers of Hampton Roads. You will find things not found anywhere else.

Selection, variety, and price point are all great. It’s the service that brings me back. The first time I went in, the register was down and I was warned ahead of time to take my time. We meandered and took in the store and his register was back up before we were even half way around the store. He offered the kids candy by way of apology for our inconvenience and after assuring him we had planned to look around anyway, he still insisted.Fast, polite, and definitely the place to get specialty ingredients!

A large Asian food store with selections from Japan, Thailand, Philippines, and China very reasonable prices. A great place to find oriental vegetables that you cant find anywhere else. They also have a small fish market where you can buy live crabs. Very helpful staff that assist you finding items that may be difficult for English speakers.

I purchased four ducks here for an event and paid half upfront and half at pickup. The process was very easy. Service was great, and the employees were very friendly and accommodating for my needs. I highly recommend this store.

They are a neat little market they have a wide variety of things anything that you need or want that is Chinese u will have no problem finding in there also if you love lumpia like I love lumpia that is the go to spot to buy take home and fry it up and oh yes enjoy!

I went today looking for some very specific and unusual Japanese ingredients and I found all of them. They also have extensive Chinese, Korean, Philippino and Thai items.The store is a bit old but it is kept clean and well stocked. The register areas are crowded and small but the service is quick and polite.

Our first time at the AAFM was to get supplies for our first time attempting to make sushi. The owner of the store went out of his way to walk us around and point out everything we needed. He was extremely friendly and helpful. We will certainly be back

Not for Indian Community

This place is one of the best Chinese markets in the area. I come from a big city with a great Chinatown and am part Chinese myself. Its hard to replace what Virginia Beach is lacking but this place adds a bit of whats missing back into my life! They have your basic Asian veggies, condiments, dried and frozen goods. They even make a small selection of Chinese bakery items and bbq pork/roast duck in store. So far they are the only location I know of where you can buy some of these items. The cashier has been more friendly than Im used to in my homes Chinatown which is nice.

Good selection of various foods and goods at good prices. They also have excellent fresh sushi and roast duck. Plus the candy and sweets section has lots of tasty treats.

A wide selection of products and exotic produce. If you are looking for hard to find Asian ingredients, you will find it here and at reasonable prices.

I get my spring roll papers here. They are close to home and reasonably priced. I have to have help rolling them now though, as my neck will not allow it.

The shelves are well stocked. A huge variety of produce much not sold in super markets. The same for items in the meat dept. Lots of fresh whole fresh fish. The prices are great.

This place has actual Peiking duck cooked on display for purchase! I cant wait to start buying more things * I got a yummy gummy candy* from here.

For Virginia Beach, this is a larger sized Asian grocery. Their emphasis is on Chinese products, but they have lots of Japanese and some other as well. They have a very good variety of fresh produce, and sell fresh fish whole or cleaned while you wait.

The only place I know of in the entire Southside for Asian products, great prices on produce. I drive a long way to shop and it is so worth the drive.

Very vegetarian friendly, I love their vegetable selection as well as the wide variety of spices and products they have. Their vegetable prices are better than Aldis and Walmart. Everything looks very fresh and they have a huge vegetable selection in comparison to other local grocery stores.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Most things seemed reasonably priced and they carried a variety of different asian and fusion ingredients so that was cool. Some produce seemed slightly old and the smell in air was stale and fishy. Overall I would go back.
