Worst ever people to deal with about warranty work. The motor blew up less than 300 miles on supposed fresh rebuild. Never covered any expenses trying to get my truck home from a towing bill. An just trying to get them to answer the phone was like trying to call president. Don’t anyone buy anything from this place. I took the truck to the Manchine shop to get a second opinion they asked if a child put the engine together. The valves were on the wrong side, was bored 40,000 over with no sleeves, connecting rods were homemade with a special bearing you can’t buy anywhere. They will not cover any cost. So basically I put my money in a pile an lit it on fire to watch it burned. Now seeking legal advice on possible lawsuit.

I do not recommend this company at all! Took them 3 weeks to get the motor here and then when I complained they stopped the remainder of the shipping. Complete joke. Motor was sitting at dock and was not allowed to pick up because I complained about the time frame. You have been warned.

Bought a 6.4 with more than a little concern, reman engines?500,000 miles later, I use this truck for business, did the studded heads, upgraded oil pump, what a beast!I have a full time team that drive 4 days a week along the east coast for business on construction sites, the truck is loaded down with test equipment, still lots of power, good mileage 18 to 22 mpg With no internal issues... kudos to the blackwater team!Looking at purchasing another truck with “blown” engine will replace with blackwater rebuild.Allen Knoxville Tn

Worked with both David and Rusty on getting a 6.7 L powerstroke long block. They were both great to deal with and made the process extremely easy. Got the engine in less than 7 business days and just got done installing it yesterday. Thing runs absolutely flawlessly can’t even feel that it’s running when your sitting in the cab. Quiet, smooth and good oil pressure and temps. Can’t say enough good things about these guys. Following all procedures they recommend and tsb’s they put out for the engine, everything went absolutely perfect which is exactly what I needed after blowing such a expensive engine!

I installed one of their engines for a 2005 F550 6.0 the thing was excellent very professional. I had to ask some question on using aftermarket parts, Bullet Proof Diesels Oil cooler. That was like pulling teeth all I got was some lady who had no clue where any1 was or when they would be back. i made the decision my self and the engine is still running trouble free.

I own 22 dodge diesels and have had 2 of them need a new engine. I have bought 2x 12 valve engines from Blackwater Engines and both have been great. They have been well built and have been running great. I hope I dont need to but I will be buying my next engine from them again.

I cant say enough about Rusty and Dave! They where very patient with us and answered all of our questions and concerns in a very professional manner. We where debating between a re-manufatured engine and a used engine. After looking at all the advantages of the of Blackwater Re-manufactured Engines we choose them. It turned out to be a no brainier when it was all said and done.I highly endorse them, the company and the quality product they deliver!

They do not honor the warranty. 1 star in my opinion is too many. If you read the reviews, there is a pattern. We had a major failure within 9 months on our motor. After getting the run around for about 45 days they stated a foreign object entered the engine and did the damage. It is clear from the pictures we sent as well as no damage at all to the intake turbo that the valve broken in the picture did the damage. I have 3 mechanics that all agree the valve failed and came apart. There is no possible way for a foreign object to get past the intake turbo and not show visible damage. We have a cracked block and they will do nothing about it nor will they send an inspector (They know the outcome). See other posts that are similar. I am not an angry person that ever sends out reviews, I felt this one was necessary and deserved. I am very very disappointed and feel completely cheated.

I ordered my motor from this company for my 2007 dodge 6.7. They shipped it all the way to Wyoming no issues helped me out all the way I had issues on my end with my mechanic and they still worked with me on the core. great company I know I would get another motor without a question if need be thank you Blackwater Engines the help was great and thanks for working with me on it

I read the previous reviews and I would have to say I disagree with the negative reviews. Our experience along with several others I know, have had only positive input when ordering from Blackwater Engines. We have ordered several long blocks and we have never had a problem. I have actually referred this company to a few people around town and they have to agree with me. The customer service was great and the one time I did have a tech question, they were very prompt in getting me the answer that I needed right away.

My OEM 6.4 went belly up at 184,000, after researching I decided to go with Blackwater for a replacement, was I apprehensive? Yep!.Its a chunk of money, 2 years later and no regrets, motor just turned 100,000 miles and running strong....way to go Blackwater!Would definitely say they know how to build a 6.4.My sincere thanks,Allen W.

I dealt with Rusty Russell start-to-finish on replacing my 5.9L Cummins for my 2005 Dodge Ram 3500. He could not have been more helpful, and very patiently answered all my questions. His follow-up after my new engine was shipped & installed was also prompt, thorough & courteous. BW seems to offer a superior product backed by a generous warranty and excellent customer service.

Bought a Duramax LB7 long block, installed.everything is going good.(no programmer, no modifications, stock and happy with stock) After 1 year and 27k miles later (with no issues) the oil pump they supplied as part of the kit, locked up and ruined the pump and gear, and All the bearings. It took Blackwater 4 months to send me a new long block. Blackwater refused to warranty because, the motor did not go down, the oil pump did. they only wanted to replace the oil pump.... I bought the EXTENDED warranty, I had detailed records of installation, oil changes, and CAT oil samples. after several, several, SEVERAL, phone calls and emails, Blackwater finally sent me a long block. I am not happy with the customer service .... I got lame stories of, mine was the first situation of this type, and this is the first time this has happened, or your situation is unique and we dont know how to handle it.... such lame excuses for a business. they did replace and did reimburse for other charges. not happy with customer service and being with out a truck for 4 months.

If you have an warranty issue good luck. They dont stand behind it. They try to find every reason not to cover it. Bought a long block with their oil cooler 8/14/17 and had it shipped to the installer. The installer followed all their installation instructions and have all the records of the work. Had an engine issue 8 months later and contacted BWE and spoke to Carlos. He said we never filled out the warranty activation form. Told him we never got any paperwork to fill out. He said it got shipped with the engine. He said that wouldnt be a problem though he would send us the paperwork to fill out. So then get it all filled out and sent back to him with proof of receipt that the work that was done by their installation instructions. So he said he got the paperwork and now we need to determine that the issue is with the long block. Which we had looked at by another dealership. A Ford Dealership. He responds back and says that unfortunately they cant help cause we didnt turn in the warranty paperwork within 30 days of the delivery of the engine. My question is why string us along for several weeks and even sending us copies of the warranty activation forms if you were never going to do anything about it. 2nd question is why does a little piece of paper have anything to do with when the engine was installed and if it was correctly installed. We did everything properly and they never sent us the warranty paperwork. They sent it to the installer which has nothing to do with the purchase of the engine. Im not the only person that has an issue with their engines and when you have a warranty claim they definitely try to run from it.

Don’t walk !! Run!! Over $5000+ spent .. Engine did not even make 10,000 miles.. No matter how much they pay for positive fake reviews, it won’t maie up for the terrible quality or attitudes from these crooks! Please don’t make the same mistake I did..

A couple years ago I purchased a 6.4L reman engine from them. We installed it and started it up. From the first time we started it up it had a vibration issue we couldnt figure out. Tore it apart and even though it was suppose to have new valves installed it had old used valves Headgasket was leaking. They wouldnt warranty anything. Said it was our fault because they found some videos of me dynoing the truck. Those videos were before we ever purchased an engine from them. Any reason they can to void a warranty. A complete waste of money. I had to have the engine they sent that was suppose to be manufactured rebuilt locally. This company is a joke. Stay away.

Bought a 7.3 from these guys because they were highly recommended. Its been a nightmare!! Bought it with every option they had ( forged pistons, arp head studs, upgraded valves and valve springs, etc. ) and soon as I get the engine installed about 2500 miles later i got diesel in my coolant. mechanic had to install all new injector cups because 2 were cracked. That was $1500! So get it back and 7000 miles later its back in the shop for a new water pump and reservoir. Get it going and 2500 miles later another reservoir is installed! So the mechanic pulls the heads off and the passenger side head gasket is damaged. Come to find out thats why it was building pressure in my cooling system! Get heads sent off to machine shop to get tested and 3 valves are bad! $2600 later my truck is finally running. I couldve bought another engine for what Ive spent repairing the junk blackwater enigines sent me. I called Carlos at blackwater engines and its a waste of time talking to these people! All they do is give you the run around. Their warranty is a joke. I will never do business with these people again. I should have read these reviews before I decided to give them my business. Id advise anyone looking to do business with these people to be very careful. Its a big risk buying from them.

Bought a caterpillar C7 engine for a GMC 7500 box truck and it lasted 10,000 miles if that. When they redrill the cylinders they drill them to thin which causes water to leak and eventually blows the engine. This is what caterpillar told me personally. Stay away from Blackwater engines, they are junk. Plus you have to jump through hoops for them to warranty the engine, not worth the time or money, BEWARE!

Bought a 6.7 cummins with thermal coated pistons and arp head bolts. Followed all the installation requirements to a T. Installed new injectors,new water pump, new oil cooler. Did everything they asked us to do. Also purchased extended warranty. So all together spent roughly $12,000 total with installation and everything. Ran great for 38,000 miles then one day out of the blue started getting knocking noise. I pull over to closest parking lot turn truck off and tow it to the shop. They drop the pan and #6 rod bearing spun. We prepair all the nessesary paperwork and pictures and send them in. Didnt hear anything for three weeks! I finally started calling and calling until I talked to someone. They said they never got our paperwork. So we sent it again and later that day got an email back stating they do not cover bearing failure!!! But before they close the claim would like to do a further investigation and need maintenance records. Sent those in so lets see the what the outcome will be. I cannot believe I just spent all this money and time and they arent going to stand behind the work they do. If they decide not to stand behind their work I will be contacting BBB and an attorney and the freaking news! i am an average joe and dont have thousands of dollars to just throw around.

Horrible. Asked for a specific gasket to be used when they installed arp in my long block, they said they ensured it would be. Followed break in request to a T, 7,000miles in, blown head gasket leaking combustion into my coolant system. $6,500 later the shop found they used a different gasket kit and the tried to lie about it, state we were being untrue when a picture of proper gaskets next to the ones they used clearly showed they werent the proper ones.Continued to drive for another 22,000 miles when a piston cracked and dropped a cylinder. They would not honor warranty stating there was over fueling, etc. Upon removing the other side head, 3/4 pistons had cracks halfway from the bowl to the cylinder walls, both heads had numerous cracks in between valves, and the whole long block became junkyard material. They absolutely suck. Order from reputable places like Maryland, Rudys, and many others

First off I have to say Blackwater is a reliable and legitimate company sending out top notch engines. They use the right parts and the machine and assembly work they have provided my customers and of course my shop is second to none. We are a high volume Powerstroke specialty shop and we have been using Blackwater for years and will continue to do so. We are not just a Put a motor in it shop. Every large scale engine failure is torn down to the failure and when it is called for of a replacement Blackwater gets the call. Honestly in 30+ long blocks we have NEVER had a warranty claim. Before writing this I read a few reviews that state otherwise but I also realize not all shops and mechanics are true diesel shops or mechanics. You simply cant replace just a long block (or short block for that matter) WITHOUT fixing the cause of the failure. I myself have been a diesel technician for 18 years and have specialized in Powerstrokes since 2003 (with Ford for 8 years and 5+ owning a Powerstroke only facility). We dont like working for free and for sure wouldnt use a product that would force us to do so.

I lost the factory 5.9 Cummins 16 months ago due to a spun rod bearing, from what I believe was the previous owner hurting the engine with chips and aftermarket add-ons. Anyway, after searching the internet, I ran across Blackwater Engines. After doing some research and talking to the people at Blackwater I ordered a 5.9 and had it delivered to my diesel mechanic. I couldnt be happier with the decision. It pulls better than the factory engine and gets better mileage. I pull a 12,000lb, loaded, LQ horse trailer frequently to Va from NC and it pulls the mountain without so much as a strain, all the while getting 14.9 mpg. I did follow their break-in procedure to the letter, which I believe is why Im having such good performance out of the engine. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a rebuilt Cummins

I purchased a BWE last year and have had very little opportunity to use the vehicle. I am currently going through a quart of oil every 200 miles. I have contacted BWE and submitted the required paperwork t activate the claim. My experience to date, after submitting the warranty claim, is I still have a vehicle that uses oil. I have visited with Rusty in warranty department numerous times, common reply you will get is I will check on that and call you back. I have never received a call back from BWE. When all your paperwork is in order and supplied to them prior to activating the warranty they have difficulties finding the information requiring you to re submit the same paperwork. and when everything else is ruled out they look for every opportunity to blame the customer by having you send photos of heat tabs - not disclosed in any of the warranty paperwork. And after several weeks you are still negotiating and waiting for responses.If you choose to do business with BWE, document well - submit receipts when registering your motor to include oil changes. Keep track of your BWE #, as this is the only number they will reference when communicating with them, and document your calls, I would recommend emailing them as you are talking so you have a record of the conversation for reference. We will see if patience and professionalism pay off, but you may be better suited to go APE CHIT right off the bat.*** update *** After a couple of Months and several phone calls, BWE did send a replacement motor. Rusty was able to give me written confirmation that I would not need to purchase new injectors, oil cooler, and proof that a new or rebuilt turbo was utilized. They also gave me written confirmation that my warranty would start over with the replacement block. Upon their decision to warranty the motor, BWE quickly got the replacement motor out the door and to the shop that would install. Motor came as expected with no obvious issues and packaged well. I do not have many miles on it at this point and still in the break in phase. Hoping that BWE is a quality product that will outlast the remainder of the truck.

2008 F 550 6.0 Diesel is a piece of junk. Put a rebuilt engine in and have 800 miles on it and the engine dropped a cylinder. Warranty is a joke! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!

Do not deal with these people, I bought cat 3126 at 132hrs it dropped a valve, they did send a new engine out, but did not cover any of the 4000 labor/install bill, I received a check for 216.00 great,

We are and repair shop for fleet vehicles. Im not going to go into details but this company has lost our business. After two motors, three if you count the wrong one they sent us, we will never do business with them again. Your only saving money up front....it will cost you in the end!
