Good selection of snacks. They have curry seasoning. Good selection of noddles. They have awesome rice cake snacks. This roll cake is amazing. It is light airy and fluffy. Its creamy and a great amount of sweetness. I will definitely always come back for this cake. 10/10

Very friendly and helpful! The man working helped me pick out the dashi for a recipe I want to make. He read through the recipe before making a recommendation. I appreciate the the time he took. Also the store is clean and well organized.I would recommend J Mart and I’ll be back!

Its always a very pleasant experience to visit JMart because the staff is extremely friendly and helpful (in both Japanese and English). The store prides itself on carrying a well-rounded selection of authentic Japanese groceries and other items.

Just wanted to update this post. I went back over the weekend because this is a wonderful shop. I bought more than I had planned because everything I needed was there. The place is clean and the shopkeeper was helpful and courteus. I love coming here. It would be better for the store and other businesses if one could avoid the parking lot. If I were to drive by, Id miss it due to some of the litter around. Otherwise, the shop is full on gold.

The staff is awesome! They have helped me with recipes and even travel plans. The stock can be revolving, but I always find what I want. Clean store, open layout, helpful staff. The prices are equal to most of the Asian markets in the area. Small store, but great variety.

I love this place. The man who runs the store (hes a mysterious stranger) is a very friendly person (hes my favorite stranger) and always makes sure we have a good experience when were there. The selection of items is very good and changes seasonally. We usually just get snacks, but everything in the store is high quality. If youre lost about something or just need recommendations, just ask and youll always be pleased with what you end up getting. Keep in mind that this is a Japanese grocery store and is fairly small, please do not confuse it with an Asian Market or you will be disappointed.

I love shopping at this store for the nice selection of quality, Japanese foods. The merchant is friendly, professional and always helpful. The store is clean and neat.I want to note that I wish the parking lot was kept cleaner. It doesnt help the all of merchants since that is the first and last thing seen.

Wonderful little shop! Its not very large but it has a fantastic selection of products. The store keeper was very nice and helpful for finding and translating the items I needed. I highly recommend this clean, organized, cozy Asian grocery.

Absolutely love this store. I couldnt find a bamboo wisk for my matcha tea anywhere else but here. Despite the size of the store Im always surprised with what I find there. They had snacks from home I hadnt seen anywhere else except in Japan. And the ingredients although few in variety are alwaysof good quality. The owner or manager is super friendly and helpful. I couldnt be happier to have found such a gem.

This is my go to place for Japanese stuffs I missed when I was living in Okinawa Japan

So I recently went to Japan and I miss alot of the drinks and snacks that were over there. I went to just about every Asian market I could find and wasnt able to find the snack and drinks I wanted. Just bout ready to call it quits when I saw the store pop up on my Google locator. Not only did he have some of the drinks I have been looking for in stock he said he has them quite frequently. I can tell u this he has my business from now on. Super friendly and super helpful reminded me of being back in Japan. Definitely worth going to.

Has some Japanese goods that cant be found at the other two local international marts, including all of the best cold drinks. The nicest and most helpful shop owner I think Ive ever met.

Great place for all your Japanese grocery needs. Candy, ramen, curry. A lot of imported Japanese products. The owners speak Japanese, giving it a pure experience you would get in Japan. They also speak English, in case you dont know Japanese.

This store is compact, but well organized and the staff is friendly. We will continue coming here as long as we can, love the selection of quick ramen (bagged, microwavable bowls, boil-in-a-bowl) and of course they have everything you could need to do it homemade if you have the desire. Nice looking selection of Japanese dishware and utensils. The man running the counter was friendly and happy to answer questions about specific products we were looking for.

I love this small shop! Couldnt find Japanese milk bread anywhere else in my area! This is the only place. The owners are so nice every time I visit, and I can find things that no other Asian grocery store has.

I love this place!! I literally come here every chance I get,and the shop keeper is really helpful. Its small & cute but it has variety of things to choose from.

This store is small but they have some of the Japanese foods we love to have. They also have boss black a canned Japanese coffee that is everywhere in Japan. They dont have alot of food but they have a selection of the various sauces and bases used in Japanese cooking (rice wine vinegar, curry sauce, gravy, soy sauce, sesame dressing, etc.)

The prices are higher, and they dont always have items in stock, but the Japanese man is very courteous. It is a quiet store, which is nice in bustle of a city.

Having lived overseas I developed a taste for Japanese cuisine. The store offers a wonderful assortment of various food and entertainment items. Really brings back some good old memories :-)

We love coming here, there is always a great assortment of products. We mainly come for the fish, they have great tuna, salmon and eel. Great for sushi making! The staff are always so helpful here as well.

Although a small variety what they have are necessities that cant be found elsewhere I visit almost weekly. I miss Japan after living there for 9 years and this is the closest I found to a combini But they really need to carry Japanese consomme powder please!!!!! and japanese flour!

Ive searched for years for Japanese pickled vegetables called Fukujinzake that are often served with curry rise. I have asked in every oriental market Ihave visited. I called the J Mart Japanese this morning and asked for them. I was VERY pleased to learn that they stock two different brands. I was at the store within 30minutes. Very nice little store, reminds me of stores I shopped in while living in Japan many years ago. I will be back! But first... curry rice for dinner tonight.

Only authentic Japanese store in the Virginia Beach area that sells strictly Japanese goods straight from Japan. The owner also displays the same customs and Japanese courtesies. Always a pleasant shopping experience.

We drive from Richmond to shop here. They have many Japanese items. The people there are very nice and professional.

I came in to buy nori to make musubis, which was a success. There are a number of choices for instant noodles and snacks. There were some Japanese knick knacks as well. Its a very small store. No fresh produce or prepared foods. They had a small freezer section.

For what little it has I am amazed this grocer is open for business. Cashier was polite and answered questions about items but store is smaller than expected.
